30 Day Survival Challenge Vancouver Island Series: • 30 Day Survival Challe...
Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.

You will never know how much I enjoyed this. I did not expect to watch it all, but I just could not quit. Better than 90 percent of what is on TV! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@OvensRockyMountainBushcraftYou need a TV show all your own my man. Watched you a long time. No not with others competing, not that thing, just you showing living in the wild and having fun! THIS is what life is meant to be!
By 90% you mean 100%
I like the show alone it’s pretty though! 👀
Me too
We need to normalize a simple lifestyle and stop normalizing debt. Huge SUVs, huge houses and private universities are simply not necessary. I live within my budget and I sleep better at night knowing that if I lose my job tomorrow, ' be fine. I didn't buy the biggest house. I bought the one I could comfortably repay
I wish I could find it, but I remember reading a study once that claimed financially insolvent men had 1.5-2x more sexual partners than their financially solvent counterparts.
I think people should also seriously look into investing of some kind. Something that brings money back to your pocket, real estate, stocks, whatever can bring back value to their bank account rather than draining it. Obviously investing has its risks but so does just having money in depreciating assets or straight up liabilities.
Big house suv. Bruh you got people driving Honda civics, living in a 1 bedroom apartment and not a luxury one at that living paycheck to paycheck.
The median rent is 2000. A lot of financial professionals especially the one I work with Samuel Peter Descovich agree that one should not spend more than 30% of their gross income on rent. That means you need to make a minimum of about $80,000. Interesting considering the median income is $54,000.
Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge. Your coach was simple to discover online. I did my research on him before I wrote to him. He appears knowledgeable based on his online resume.
That is why I work with Samuel Peter Descovich, who introduced me to a better Financial community, a verified agency where I learned how money works and how to create it, as well as free books, courses, and daily lectures.
You also get to meet new people, which was the best decision I ever made.
Amos seems like the ideal camping/survival buddy. Such a kind person, mellow and super knowledgeable. Can't wait to see more from both of you!
What country or provence. How do you drive there?
Using a motorized land vehicle@@LelandWolf-zt4wz
Amós persistent positivity and skill is seriously inspiring
Amos gifting Greg the bow was the kindest gesture I've seen for a long time. How touching. I loved coming along on this adventure, thank you so much!
🫶👏👍
Came to the comments to say the same thing that was a such a wholesome moment haha. Along with when Greg got his fish and Amos got his grouse in the same day
Greg should have gave Amos the recliner ĥe made.
I would love to see these two guys do another one of these.
yes south America or Hawaii 😸🤙
me too!
Agreed!
Yes please, Amos is amazing such a positive guy and amazing human being
@@remusserban5157 Both are very humble.
my most favorite scene is when Greg comes back with salmon & Amos comes back with his grouse. Surf and Turf in the bush! great job boys!
This was great. Amos pretty much carried the entire challenge by himself with all that food, lol. And then to gift the bow he made to Greg, man what a guy!
Right, then Greg says we got some salmon
Well greg is the vegetable/berrycollector so everyone did their part , they survived together
I've said it once and ill say it again, there is nothing better than a few cold beers and Gregs videos on a Friday.
Ciders dear friend. Ciders! 🥴
@@mikemaby5497 or my homemade mead lol
ur so white its screaming
@@mikemaby5497ciders? Seriously..
Non sense.
When you are actually out there doing the beer would be better…
I could smell the fire and taste the fish! Felt like I was with you guys. Thank you.
Watched all 3 hours of this with my wife, she used to live in Coal Harbour so we recognized the Holberg road!
The amount of editing that must go into these kinda videos, massive respect. All an awesome watch always.
First i want to thank Greg, Amós, and Fowler for the awesome content. The great views and survival tips. Second i would like to say please don’t throw names around these guys bring us great content and remember they don’t just sit behind a computer for content you prefer. They have every day lives like most of us. I say this respectfully. Love you all…
Just two respectful people spending time together in the woods. No better content on the internet.
I don’t know how, but Greg somehow manages to look like George Washington, Hugh Jackman, and Tarzan all at once and my brain doesn’t know what to make of it. I am confusion.
the amount of work he’s putting into giving us cinematic shots while also surviving is amazing i think i just found my new special interest
When Greg got the fish and Amos got the grouse and they was so happy. That made me happy.
Me too man, me too
Greg casts a fishing rod like my 4yr old grandson lol. Bless his heart.
LMAO, 100%.
It drives me nuts! 😂
yep, so true
Speaks like a 4 yr old too "don't get off, don't get off, my fish got off!!".lol
Yea i was gunna say something about WHY he isnt catching xD
I'm so very grateful to have found this channel. My husband and I really enjoy watching your videos! Better than anything on TV that's for sure! God bless you!
Please do another one you two guys, I have never sat through a 3 hour long youtube video ever until now! Epic.
Theres currently a German TV show goin on called 7vswild in which 7 contestant teams of two are on vancouver island for 14 days. Even though the rules do not allow them to take as much gear as you did, it is amazing to see how much better they couldve done if they knew their surrounding better. Thanks for the amazing content and greeting from germany!
7vsW is a joke
@@meinungsfreiheit7004 true it was way better when it wasnt about maxing out the views and when they invited people with actual survival skills
@@VantaBlack-nv1zk yea and when it was more about the actual survival and not some UA-camrs talking about their emotions non stop.
Feels like they put some random "known" people in the wild and let them cry all day exept from 1-2 people. Also they vut out a lot of interesting things like building shelter, finding water and food, making fire. Its like the uninteresting part besides there emotions.
German Television and media is absolutely embarassing. Everybody is an American celebrity wannabe poser.
Canadian, living in Germany.
Warum speakt ihr nicht German wenn you guys are Deutsch ? 🤓😂
Amose is a bush medic! You are guys are magic together ❤️ ✨️ 🙌
😊
iTS SO NICE TO SEE TWO GUYS HAPPY IN EACH OTHERS COMPANY WITHOUT TRYING TO ONE UP EACH OTHER
Funniest part is Greg was saying "watch me catch a big 200 lb halibut and it dragged me to Japan.." followed by Greg catching multiple baby halibut! Really great video fellas you both did great! Look forward to seeing another in the future hopefully!
Berries, I just finished making the last few batches of jam for the season. combos, strawberry/rhubarb and red raspberry/strawberry 24 8oz jars. Total 72 jelly, jams, apple butter. Several more pint jars of apple pie filling canned. I grew all the fruit and berries on the homestead along with my mini-vineyard that have several verities of grapes. All my fishing gear has been collecting dust for the past 10 years. I have moved away from the NE coast but that will change soon enough. Tackle boxes full of fresh and salt water gear and rods. Surf casting or jigging from a boat is a good time. Just like a box of chocolates , ya never know what ya going to get . Fenn needs his own saddle bags so he can bring his own food. If ya want a plastic net/bag I'll send ya one.
don't be too hard on yourself, it makes sense amos caught more fish because he's younger and more agile. these 30 day survival challenges are a special treat, because i know they can take a toll, especially when you get into your 50's. take care of your health first, there was a dude on N&A that was tapped out due to health reasons, and he ended up having a stroke a few months later and passed away
super thanks again Greg and Amos!
I appreciate that you don’t edit out your mistakes, It makes you more like us. Love your work Greg, Thanks
Better than 99.9% of all the crap on cable tv.
I love how pro active you are with your treatment and progress. My brother was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago and he said it was minor in his prostate. He had tests results come back last week and he has also got cancer in his colon and fatty tissue in his small intestine. He sees an oncologist on Tuesday. Thank you for helping me to know what questions to ask. All the best to you.❤
I loved this, never seen you before, but it was enjoyable to see 2 people leaving their ego's at home and just chillin with Finley the dog, this was fun, thankyou 🤘🇦🇺
I'm 2hrs in and I can't help but admire Greg's patience, 20 days and only one fish but still the attitude is ever hopeful 👍🍻🍻🍻🍻
With fishing in big waves it’s all about finding a rip and letting your bait be dragged out into deep water
To those that are unaware, yes this is pre-uploaded footage. This is a condensced compilation of the Survival Challenge Amos and Greg did a while ago. (When it came out, it was like a tv show, episodes per week)
What do you mean?
@NoName-yi3oz he means they originally posted all of these clips as serperate episodes, but compiled them into a 3hr special containing all the episodes.
I would want Amos on the shtf team for sure.. you too ovens!
This was a fun 30 day survival challenge.
Amos takin that grouse with his home made bow is proof that the old ways work!
Kudos to you Men!
At first, I was expecting a real survival adventure. But it pand out to be not that in the real sense. Then, I could still not stop watching. There is something to be said about just being out there, enjoying nature and being grateful for the blessings it does provide when you put the work in. I guess the 30 day challenge and longer video is enjoyed by not only myself, but by a lot of other fans, no matter the format of how the "survival" theme is chosen to be presented. Keep it up guys, great job.
Enjoy the little things in life because when you look back you will realize that those little things were the biggest things in your life
I know I won't get a response to this. But thank you guys for teaching me and my daughter everything on how to fish camp and do everything bush. We have been watching you guys since my daughter was two years old. She will be five in december fourteenth. Thank you for everything, Mr. Greg
i for one am inspired by your story and hope to do the same for myself and children one day 🙏
Greg, You are so blessed to have friends like Amos & Finn.
Amos fills you're stomach & they both fill your videos with amazing content.
God Bless you Guys. Stay Safe!
A collab with the outdoor boys will be amazing
The fish you caught are called lemon sols, one of the best tasting fish Vancouver island has to offer. Thanks for visiting my slice of paradise.
Amos is the man for sure!
His fish was a bigger fight on land lol love watching you guys but Fin is always the ✨⭐✨
I'll never get Over how Greg casts
I could not sleep well last night and came across this video. Thank goodness I decided to tune in. It was so relaxing and interesting to watch! Made my sleepless night so much better. You two are so wholesome and happy! Best bud vibes for sure! Thank you for such amazing, adventurous content! I typically don't leave comments but my intuition told me to so here it goes! New sub 😄
Oh and I must say, I slept like a baby after this! 😅
Greg and Amos make such a great team can't wait for the next one!
Greg, I have an Idea for something you can keep in your pack to use to make a fish net. The large hams or turkeys' have a plastic light weight mesh net which has a loop to hoist the meat around. It has a aluminum crimp at the loop, use pliers and remove it and you have the mesh netting to make a bush craft fishing net. Some are black or white maybe other colors I have saved several of them. You can use them to hold other camping items, maybe use to hang food off the ground away from critters or hungry dogs that like butter...🐕🦺🦝🦊🐻🦨 maybe make a fish trap or critter trap. Many uses for the net mesh. It will be cool to see what you come up with something worthy of the Rocky Mountain Bushcraft efforts.
Great idea.
I’ve really enjoyed you two together. Amos has a great attitude and smile. His fishing skills are off the charts. I’m sorry Greg but your unfortunate soakings busted me up. I couldn’t help but laugh it was so crazy. Love your content and the scenery is second to none. ❤❤❤
Having spent the last 20(??) years with youtube as my main entertainment system, I can wholeheartedly say this is a great contender for best video of all time. Can't believe he caught a grouse. Thanks for introducing Amos. And that monster you caught. Epic.
Props to you guys for hiking those trails carrying that gear, I used to do the same in Nordegg Alberta and let me tell you I slept well.
Nordegg is Awesome Area
I am sitting here in my Home Office and my Heartrate goes down for 50 just listening and watching this channel. Greg you are the man.
Watched the hole thing absolutely brilliant one of the most peaceful videos I’ve encountered in years
What a wonderful friendship! Love watching you two making memories and having adventures together!!
3 of my favorite guys on UA-cam: Greg, Finley, and Amos 😊
This was brilliant! So much fun to watch. Thanks for taking us all on your adventure with you.
That bush camo lol. "You know who I'm dont you" That cracked me up :D
It's so neat that you guys get together after alone and do these shows!!! Love them!!
👏👍
yes so glad to hear that you will be doing more together with Amos
I made myself some simple french toast while watching this, just some white bread soaked in whipped egg fried in a pan with some honey poured over them. But watching Greg and Amos enjoy that grouse made me hungry again. I am probably going to be making some kind of pasta in a few hours to sate my hunger.
I have to say it sir. You are something of an inspiration. My father is about your age. You are still doing these actual difficult challenges, no one even dares to. I am rooting for your well being. And hope people like you are always there to make us understand simplicity and humbleness is a virtue. I've bever been so happy to see someone get a fish.
Enjoyed all 3 hours despite not expecting to stick to the end! Both you guys are such amazing characters.
Ikr
Im blown away. Been watching your channel for a while and saw the whole van island series but this is next level editting! You encorporated Amos’ and Greg’s footage beautifully! Good on your all. The guys in Maine sure know how to tell a story and Greg… please keep doing what youre doing and if ya ever wanna do an adventure in Newfoundland look me up! Then you’ll know what ‘real’ cod tastes like. Love you guys!
Such a great video! Thanks for sharing and being kind with your time and showing the world!
The world’s 🌎 most cack handed survivalist. Bloody love you Greg. This film had me hooked 😂
The quotes are untold. “Huckleberry, Finn”! Got me.
Love everything about this adventure.
Thank you 🙏 from 🇬🇧
I really, really enjoyed this 30 day survival challenge! One of my favorites. That's for sure! You two had great chemistry
Loving this adventure man!!😊
When you came out of the woods looking like a Lord of the Rings wizard saying you know what I am I'm a bushman was hilarious.
I could watch Greg and Amos everyday going on adventures. What a great team and infectious personalities.
This is the type of content i love, hours of a person just "roughing"(to each their own) it in nature for days/weekends on end like people back in the day did it, so simple/peaceful and with the right setup calming
Same
Man, you should do a team up with Outdoor Boys!! I think that would be so fun!
It feels like I'm traveling. Thank you
Really enjoyed you and your team work and how you were able to make it fun to watch you two get along so well together.😂
This was fantastic! I loved this challenge. Amos is an impressive person. I would love to have him in other videos. Thank you both of you!
I came across this 3 hour survival video not knowing the channel at all and clicked thinking it'll help me sleep. 2 hours later I'm still mesmorised. I've got to where you start your kayaking on day 17 and have to pause to say I'm in love with this wholesome story. The music kicks in and gets me. The simplicity, the brotherhood, the serenity, the escapism... this warms my heart and soul like nothing I've ever watched before. And there's still 13 days to go 😊 I wonder what happened to your radish garden...
What a great pair of outdoorsman! They work great together and the fact that they always positive speaks volumes of who they are as people. I enjoyed every minute of this video! It’s incredible that we get to watch this for free. Those cod are so beautiful with those hues of blue and they taste great as well!
By far the best bushcraft channel on UA-cam. Thank you for giving us knowledge and entertainment on the side. God bless you 🙏🌄☀️🪵🌳🌲
Great video, mate. You two together is a good combo 👌🏼 ❤
Amos is the man. what a camping buddy .
This has inspired me to go back out into the bush and make cubbies and live like a kid again. Amazing video!
Thank you so much for this amazing video. To both of you. Only sad part was that you put Finn in the fire squad and the poor dog had to watch how his best sticks get burned. His looks were heartbreaking. Anyway, this was nothing but amazing. All the best to you guys from Germany. Thanks and always have a save trip.
Love you guys together. Best of the best at the same time.
Amos is a actual legend i couldn't imagine the things i could learn off that man and how truly positive he can be and so calm
That moment at 2.38 is priceless when Greg gets his fish and Amos gets a grouse with his beautiful homemade boy
Have you ever tried baking radishes? There awesome. It takes away most of the bite.
Not yet!
What a wonderful adventure! Thank you guys so much. I'm in love with that sweet pup!❤
Yesss
No, life *is* a box of chocolates dude, you never know what you’re going to get. Right? 😂 awesome video. Well done.
Amos seems like a genuine great guy. Loved watching you two survive the bush together!
Flounder
Shrew was loaded with ticks . Looked like it was not happy .
You’re like Mr. Magoo. It just seems like you’re always out of your element.
Beautiful stuff, really nice. You dressed up as the bush man made me laugh :p
Respect for Amos for actually getting a bird!
Isn't this Another upload of the same video from last year? 🤔
Frank Gallagher done finally found his safe haven lol. All jokes aside this was amazing cinematic masterpiece❤❤
This small fish with eyes on its side is called Flounder; in Russia it is fried, smoke and dried with salt. Those red salmon eggs that you don't cook are called "Caviar" and are considered a delicacy (eaten almost raw with a little salt and brad with butter). Thanks for the exciting trip!
I actually managed to hook my fingers with two triple hooks one time fishing in Sweden with two friends. One went into each hand so I couldn’t use my hands, the tips of the hooks even came back out on the other side . We didn’t let any time pass to make use of the adrenaline and gladly one of my friends was man enough to pull those hooks out while the other one threw up. I don’t remember much from that Point on because we only had vodka with us, and I didn’t only use it to disinfect the wounds. Watch out for those hooks kids , as Mr. Krabs once wisely said!
Excited for this, for sure!! Just got back from camping last night. Does anyone have any good cold weather sleeping bag suggestions? I need a new one. Froze to the bone last night
Hand warmers work wonders if you put a few in the bottom of your bag 🎒
Outdoor vitals has really good sleeping bags. You're going to spend money but it's worth it. Plus make sure if you're in a tent you have some type of sleeping pad or in a hammock an under quilt. Something to keep your body heat trapped
Take the gf with you 😉
Old content C'mon Greg. New content. Wait a week to watch old videos.dropping the ball
Mr. Ovens. I love getting soaked in the bush.
Thaank you for sharing man ,this is great footage you showed off the Island beautifully One day Im going back if I didn't have responsibilities Id be gone !😉😁
I will be forever grateful to you, you changed my whole life and I will continue to preach on your behalf for the whole world to hear you saved me from huge financial debt with just a small investment, thank you Mrs. Erin Geraci
My life is totally changed because I've been earning $15,250 returns from my $4,000 investment with Erin Geraci
The market are profitable when it's high. make $1 /k every two weeks of investing $3k. Following good strategies analysis and portfolio is the key🔑
Same here, i will praise Erin Geraci over and over again because she has great skills, i started with $2000 and after 2week i received a returns of $6,000 then i continue with her ever since she has been delivering.
I heard a lot of investing with Erin Geraci and how good she is, please how safe are the profit?
I traded with her, The profit are secured and over a 100% return on investment directly sent to your wallet.
Greg can use the bags under his eyes to carry extra equipment 😅 sleep dude...
When's the new adventure starting?
