    In this video, we’re going to talk about the problems with eating kale.
    There are a lot of really amazing benefits of kale, such as:
    • It has potential anti-cancer effects
    • It has potential anti-estrogenic effects
    • It can help clean up the liver
    • It’s loaded with nutrients
    But, there can also be a few problems with eating kale for some people.
    1. It can deplete iodine (sea kelp may help counter this issue)
    2. It can have too much fiber (try other vegetables) *if you’re bloated because of too much fiber, it can be difficult to lose weight.

      Kale is super healthy but if you are not used to a rich fibre food I would introduce it first in small amounts. Not only kale but all sorts of green leafy vegetables, broccoli, beets, beans lentils etc… as your gut flora adapts to the higher fibre content you’ll feel less bloated. :) just be persistent and always eat in small amount all types of vegetables and as you get used to it you can increase the quantity. :)

    Yep, I am one of the 20% who can't digest kale. I was on a kale kick last summer and made a juice of kale, carrot, ganny smith apple, fennel and ginger. Well after 4 days of stomach indigestion I learned my lesson. No kale for me. I learned that kale is in the cruciferous family which I can't digest any of them as well. I take a probiotic but nothing was going to digest that kale.
    I make my green shake with organic powdered wheatgrass juice. I use spinach in my quiche recipe and in salads, but No kale!

      You can get constipated from too much fibre for sure. In fact it can be the leading cause of constipation. If your having problems with your gut, make sure to thoroughly research the difference between soluble had insoluble fibre. 9 out of 10 GP's will just tell you "eat more fibre" without having a clue of what they are talking about. You need to speak to an expert for real advice or research your own. A GP is like your local mechanic. They can change your oil but you wouldn't trust them with your Rolls Royce. Your body is your Rolls Royce 😊

    One the best way to fix those two problems is to steam it rather than eating it raw. Especially if it is affecting your thyroid.
    Cycle between spinach, collard, kale, lettuce, parsley and other green leaves.
    I always steam a bit and it even tastes better.

    • @BenHayat
      @BenHayat 7 років тому +1

      Bleedinggums roberts;
      Raw kale may not affect everyone the same way.Try it with small amount to start with. IT IS the best green vegie with lots of minerals, vitamins and even protein. So, I'd not brush it off.
      Or you can use Swiss chard and Spinach. These are my main vegies.

      when you are home, work up to more raw. you can always pack a cooler with salads and juices, especially if you have an electric one you can plug into in your truck. you can juice and freeze, then put in cooler and will last a few days at least. otherwise, snacks like raw nuts and seed that have been soaked and dehydrated are good. takes prep, but worth the effort. try to focus on small changes otherwise you get overloaded. and stay hydrated!
