I'm happy that I'm finding people willing to say "this is how you do it" without the "press G to grab" level of detail. It's much more engaging and informative for me at my level of expertise.
Yes, I am this person. After every move, trying to find info in google. Now just stuck on the moment with coffee. Cant understand how to open 2nd screen
Yes please more intermediate tutorials! I'm so tired of watching 40 minute beginner tutorials for one specific aspect I need! This was pretty cool, I used to be obsessed with trying to make an animated face on a character
If we get technical about it the "Round Cube" is as much a sphere as the UV sphere, even if they are topologically diferent. They both attempt to mimic the same geometric shape through different means (radial vs smoothing). The distinction is that the "Round Cube" starts as a cube which then has a subdivision modifier applied to it, which is where the term comes from. "Rounded Cube" would be more acurate as a term, although it's admitedly less funny. "Round Cubes" are very useful for things that will not stay as a sphere, as the topology is evenly spread.
I really enjoy watching this type of tutorials - really helpful, without talking about absolutely basic things, but also it is friendly for casual Blender users. Great job! :)
I love this format of tutorials! They're so much better for inspiration to make something original, instead of for making an exact 1:1 copy of what's in the tutorial.

For those looking for the "extend mode" at 9:23, it will be connnected to the image sequence node in shader editor. I had never done this before so spent a bit of time looking for it.
This is great. I wish you had the commend/click thing turned on so I could slow down and see what I need to click exactly. It helps me alot when I get lost in tutorials. Thanks for making this
This was great, I am an animation professional that has done very little CG animation, but I have been a hobbyist for decades. I am new to Blender. I very much like the overview style of this video and appreciate how you mention factors that are important or potential trip ups as you go along. My friend and I who work on the Simpsons follow your channel here and really dig your work.
@@putridalien Thanks! I usually do Background Art, Prop and background design. I did very little work on clerks but it was a fun and crazy environment.
Woah! Thank you! i followed along and made this, i had to do some research cause some of the things were a bit advanced for me, which helped me learn even better. i shared the result with friends and they think i'm a professional haha! i had to explain i followed tutorials but still seems pretty impressive for a novice artist!
This is gold! Thank you so much. Just wondering if you would ever make a video on your setup, your computer rig and what do you work with on a daily basis, sort of
Hi! I’m new to blender but not 3D software so its pretty cool to see what you can do in blender alone so it wasn’t considered while I was in school. Now I want to continue levelling up my skills without my student licenses this was perfect for an overview
I think you are the only channel with tutorials of things I want to make! Most channels I found always make some kind of robotic/cyberpunk things which something I'm not interested. And when I found the one who makes cute things, it's not 3D animation. So thank you for making these tutorials!
Ok using the Color Ramps for the Roughness and Bump was pretty genius ngl But real quick, just one question, wouldn't it have been easier to use the Cylinder Projection for the mug textures instead of marking the seams and then moving the selection in the UV Editor?
Can you make a tutorial on proportional editing... to get as good as you because this is like the cutest coffee cup...😎'cute???.....🤠'i mean dam cutest coffee cup I've ever seen and I like to master how to make quality characters at this level🤠
I was wondering since I saw this on your insta how you got the face to work! I thought it was more complicated than uv's and an image sequence 😅 but now I know for my workflow. Brilliant stuff and thanks for sharing the knowledge (and cute characters)!
Really awesome. I solve the face animation for something similar with curves and shape keys sticked with shrinkwrap but I couldnt avoid the proyection distorsión when I moved the face out of the center. Its cool see that like "I was there too".
Late to comment on the vid here, but I very much enjoyed it! I was able to follow 90% of it without even opening Blender and I think I could figure out the rest if I did active work, so that's a huge win.
I think you should dump the after effects and make a drivers to texture and uvwarp to bones. This way you can fully animate the face and not rely on a texture animation, almost like using a sprit sheet.
This was great. Very detailed - certainly not too complex. Referencing your other tutorials is a good way of not having to over explain. I'll enjoy trying it out later on.
Why is this the same thing as I made on my channel? I spent ages learning Blender and figuring out how to get mine to work and now there's a specific tutorial on the whole thing 😂
Hey, guys! Help me pleeese! Explain a little bit more about the step at 4:40? How can i move the circle to the image window? In my left window, there is only an image of coffee, how does the circle get there? Please help!)
Which proportional editing are you on... Are you scaling in the Z direction when you model the bottom of the coffee cup or is the way it moves or scales a side effect of proportional editing
hey man no offense but how about using CTRL+SHIFT+LEFTCLICK shortcut on the color ramp so it automatically opens up the viewer node to see its effect instead of manually removing the node from the roughness and putting it into the base colour to see its effect?(remember to use the node wrangler add-on for this to work) Also nice tutorial and take some much needed rest if you have to.Cheers m8
Very cool! I like the look of your animations like this so thanks for making a tutorial walking us through the general idea of how to make this! You did a great job explaining how you did things. The coffee was especially interesting, since I thought it was a sim of some sort. Nice work!
hey man, exellent tutorial, I really like the pace of it, just a tiny detail I think you forgot to link the tutorial that you mention at 7:42 , I think you were refering to the one called "Blender Character Animation Tutorial: Model and Rig a Cute Robot" ?

hi! I think i have an answer for you. So what you wanna do is split your screen so you have your 3d-model on one side and the UV editor on the other side. after that what you want to do is unwrap your object. press a to select your object after that press u to unwrap. if this doesn't work then just understand that the only thing u need to figure out is how to unwrap stuff.

Ctrl+Shift+D to duplicate nodes while keeping them connected (in this case, duplicate the color ramp while keeping it connected to the coffee image..)
thanks! :)
"round cube" already a great start to describe a sphere.
No, it's not the same topologically. It's a great way to describe a round cube.

@@Arkhansyd No, it isn't as much a sphere as a UV sphere. A UV sphere is much more spherical. A round cube is a subdivided cube. Get lost.
well it is a round cube, he did not mess that up buddy trust me put some thought u will understand why
My "round Cube" is a cube with beveld edges... Blender 2.92

Question from a newbie: is there a specific reason you didn't use directly "project from view" for the UV mapping ?
its so cute!!!, love it and give thumbs up even just an animation.

You can also do the face & animation using Grease Pencil 🥰
Animate the face separately and use it as texture 😄
