Starting a project is always the hardest part! I am going to try using one piece folded in half at my first knot, to make the center prettier. I have been making my rugs by repurposing men’s cotton XXL shirts. The fabric is woven, and the same on both sides. I even press the edges inside so no frayed edges show. Love to make these! Thank you for your video!
I make my strips 4 inchs wide and actually fold it as I pull it thru the firest couple,,I find the rough edges dont show, they just fold under on their own,,I make my core strips about 1 and a half or 2 inchs depends on how heavy the fabric..Ribbon works really well too.! My rugs are super thick but I use alot of sheets. Flannel works really well......Im going to try and make one with 2 inch strips. They look to be alot thinner but would be easier to wash!.. I find starting the centre is the hardest part too!! Especially for an oval.!! Ive found only ONE video where the lady increases on the sides. hers turned out a really nice oval shape .Enjoy making your rugs..I find if youre not careful it can become addicting!!!! lol
Wow, 4”! I am getting ready to make a large oval rug for my RV, out of sheets. I have lots of gray and tan sheets. Planning on 2” for both core and knots. We’ll see how it works! Going to swap the colors around, I have about six color variations.
@@nancymcshane3501Grey and tab sounds lovely!! 6 shades too.. wow!! ...4 inch strips with a core..makes a really thick comfy rug. ..Im about to rip all my 4 inch strip in half to make a bigger oval.....but it seems so thin.. it'll feel really strange at first.. Most people crochet them but these are much stronger. Enjoy making your rug!!!!
I am on my 3rd try. I think I can really do this now with your help. For me Your videos are clearly better than any others I have seen. Thank you so much
Omg...Thank you so much for making this video ❤. I've been wanting to make a rag rug for awhile now. I got everything I needed to get started but I just couldn't find a tutorial that I could follow. I'm not sure why but your video made it so much more easier for me then anyother one that I've watched. Your rag rugs are very beautiful, love the colors that you use also. Once again thank you for teaching me a lost art and I hope to make many beautiful peices of my own.
Hi what i mean is if you haveto go backon the stitch to take up the hole you are actually reducing the stitches to take up the hole so you thenneed to add a stitch to compensate. Soundscomplicated but if you watch again it may make sense
I have a SERIOUS problem with starting the knots...i just can't seem to follow well....lol, i wish someone would do a video from BEHIND...may be easier for me to follow....i guess my brain is wired weird because watching from front messes me up. I have made a rug, but when i go to pick it up, its loose and goes into a cone shape? I just can't understand what i'm doing wrong
Also I kept having a lot of trouble getting over to the second stitch so I finally just went backwards from the fourth stitch to the third to the second and now it seems to be working. And I say down, under, through- as in down through the knot, under the runner, and through the working loop. I think she's saying come up through the stitches which is backwards from what she shows. So far it's the best video it's just the wording and my brain wiring have to coordinate
Nesrin Mousa Thanks Nesrin, You can use most fabrics, but sheets give you the longest strips so you have fewer knots/joins. ( t shirts, tops, skirts, jeans etc ). Some fabrics may give you strechier/floppy rug. Sharon.
@@vidhyamestry6436 you can make one easily with bending thin wire into a loop at each end and duct tape. around the centre.or just use a large safety pin!! I like using big Safety pins the best!!!
I am sorry the sound is a bit low I will try to speak louder on future demonstrations ( I think my husband would say he wishes I were a bit quieter!!!!)
Very relaxing to watch you teach. Not everyone can teach I’ve realized.
Thank you, Sharon, for your tutorials. They are very helpful. Smiles from Washington State.
Thanks Melanie.
Just heard about this craft in an Amish story. So thank you for adding visual to the craft

What do you mean when you say it needs to increase when a hole is there?
Hi what i mean is if you haveto go backon the stitch to take up the hole you are actually reducing the stitches to take up the hole so you thenneed to add a stitch to compensate. Soundscomplicated but if you watch again it may make sense
Because your making the circle bigger, you need to do more wraps each round to compensate.
Thanks mem
What is the size of strips
Como se llama el aguja q usa
