    best Amish knot tutorial I have viewed, and I have viewed quite a few!! Beautiful workmanship and inspiring! I used to make these as a child from scraps at my babysitters' home and was trying to recall the exact procedure. We used our fingers (little kids) on centers pre-made by our sitter and scraps tied by our sitter. Your rug is much prettier than ours were! I'm inspired and will hold onto old t shirts in the future!

    That music was like water torture but the rug making was a great tutorial! Nicely done! Explained and demonstrated well. I have watched a few others who have tried to demonstrate this method, their rugs looked bumpy and just not as flat and finished as yours. You’ve got talents.

    I'd make the needle out of hard wood. I have used the linking together like you do and it's much better than a knot! Although I have only crocheted mine. I'll try this and think it'll be more fun and easier.

    I've viewed many rug videos..thought I may do a t shirt rag and crochet rug, but this seems easier and the rug is more refined looking - love it and I think this is the one I will make.
    When you cut up T shirts. if there are side seams do you cut out the seams or keep them in the cloth strips? Thanks!

    • @robmontgomery9711
      @robmontgomery9711 7 місяців тому

      the seams can be used for the spine if they are not TOO thick (if so, keep for a thicker rug)
      thats what i do...wrap the ugly ones with pretty ones.

    This looks really pretty :) i dont understand how you increase the number of stitches though...🤔 Could you explain it with words please? 😅 Also, i was wondering if there was a way to do it oval shaped?

    • @CraftsforReal
      @CraftsforReal  Рік тому +1

      Thank you.😊 As your rug gets bigger, you need to increase the number of knots to avoid it from curling. After making 2 rows(I mean circle), you can create double knots right away. add two knots per hole or two knots every other hole. When the space(hole) is a little big, that when you know you should add more knots. It's a matter of feel.

    • @CraftsforReal
      @CraftsforReal  3 роки тому

      Tshirts dont fray much so it gives you cleaner knots/finish. Quality of this rug is good. I even washed mine a couple of times. I cant say that the rug is soft, but it's not rough. Hope this helps. Happy rug making.😊

You can use flannel..cotton..polyester .. microfibre,. .Cotton makes beautiful rugs that will last for 20 +yrs.!! ..the wider you make your strips the thicker your rug...but you use way more fabric...... I use 3 inch strips of sheets.........you just cut into it an inch or 2 and RIP the strips leghth ways, if youre using cotton or flannel sheets etc....Theyre also reversible!!
