(UNCLOGGING) Lake Drain Clogged With Filamentous Algae Pond Scum
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 вер 2024
- This is a drain that clogs up after almost every storm. Without this drain the street would flood. This is the first pond scum clog I gave found and it is very heavy stuff. I unclog this about every 2 weeks and soon is fall and I expect a large clog here in Oct when the leaves fall. 8/20/19

Many reasons why I love these videos, including:
- The comments section of this channel's videos are some of the most positive and uplifting of any I've seen on UA-cam
- It teaches us that not much effort is needed to make a huge difference, and we should all consider how much we could help/support others just by making a small amount of effort to talk to them, or offer to help them
I totally agree! I really enjoy the encouraging and uplifting vibe from reading comments, like yours. It makes you pay a bit more attention to the environment your in. I saw that when the local lake recently laid new gravel along the hiking trail that they didn’t grade it to flow into the lake, so the trail is getting ruts and huge washouts (I’m in the Pacific Northwest), so one day I just enjoyed making little drainage ditches to drain huge puddles, thus making it much nicer for others to walk on the trail without getting their shoes soaked. A little girl noticed what I was doing and she enjoyed moving the leaves and watching the current go faster. It was a good feeling. I got soaked, I was sweating and still had to walk a mile uphill home, and when I went back several days later it was still flowing cuz the whole hillside was draining. Today Bellingham Washington has had the worst flooding I’ve ever seen. It was record breaking rainfall by 3x! Look up Bellingham flooding November 15, 2021 for news and drone footage.
This is something that would be great for kids who need community service hours
Or something to entertain them hah
Did I just see, IT?
why do they get to have all the fun. i do this for free
Get all the antifa and extinction retards doing this rather than blocking our streets. Oh, I forgot, they don't work. Bravo young man 👌👌10/10 for helping the community and making very satisfying videos.
W Roberts float them pricks away down river
I hope your local gov’t is giving you some kind of recognition or compensation for your hard work.
Well done mate u do a very good job
I believe a lot of the work he does besides roadways are private lots
Hahahaha!
Oh wait..
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
If anything the city officials are probably mad because 1. Takes away their excuse to request more funding.
2. Lets people know how utterly useless the city/county government is and always will be.
3. Makes them actually have to work.
Are those fish even safe to eat with all that green algae? It's just beginning to look better because of the cleaning you've been doing. Nice job young man.

These videos are so relaxing and oddly gratifying to watch, thanks for posting!
Wow! I'm loving this one for sure! So relaxing just listening to the water and watching you work! PLEASE never add music to these! This was perfect for me. I really enjoyed your creative photography too! thanks Post 10 for the peaceful, calming video!
I agree. Please don't ever add music. I love the natural water sounds, its calming audio to go along with the satisfying viduals
Hahahaa I just imagine if he put stupid dance music over the whole thing with constant fast zoom ins and reaction memes, eek! Obviously that will never happen, thank god
Well done for contacting officials about littering. Too bad the sign made no difference, but you're certainly doing more than your fair share to keep things clean. :-)
Most people wouldn't do this for pay, or even think about it... and here we have post doing it voluntarily. Great to see!
Imagine how many animals dying by getting stuck and wrapped in the fishing 🎣 lines. Thank you for clearing some out.
Reminds me of the boys in africa or smwhere there, they save seals whos wrapped in human trash
Animal lives matter
Your photography is excellent. The stills of the beaver swimming and the rippled reflections of the trees around the pond are pure art. Keep up the fine work Sir.
OMG I know the person who put the sign up had good intentions but... you never nail something onto a tree, they might end up killing the tree or if the tree lives it will actually end up growing over the sign to the point the sign will be embedded into the tree. I've seen people do this with wire fencing where they affix the fence to trees and then 10 years later the fence is embedded into the trees.
Nice job again and the beaver shots were cool.
nailing or stapling something to a tree or even carving your initials into it wont kill it, harm it yes. the only way to really kill a tree without chopping it down would be taking a blade and carving around the circumference of it. underneath the bark is another layer where the nutrients taken from the soil gets taken up and distributed to the rest of the tree itself. that part is like literally like the blood system that brings nutrients and such throughout your body. like i said earlier, you carve around the circumference of the tree and cutting through that layer. and you have killed the tree with minimal effort. also theres a chemical used that comes in either an pressurized can where you can spray it into the tree itself, or a bucket where you can brush it onto the parts that are harmed. its for exactly that situation. like for instance a moose, deer, or elk comes along and dmgs a tree that you want kept around on your property. you can use that to save the tree(s) that were harmed from said animal(s). you can find it at nurseries or online.
@@gothicphoenix3246 nails can cause disease to take hold. So indirectly yeah, it can kill a tree
Removing all the algea from the lake is helping it stay alive. Good job sir!
I know it's weird to say, but this drain is my fave :))
Lilybet1975 Mells mine too. He's always got tidbits of information to go along when he clears this one.
And mine :o)
Mine as well. Great hydrology.
Not wierd at all, mine too. Always something to do there
They just need to remove the grate so the junk can flow thru
Question: does anybody know where you are at when you do this? I ask for safety reasons. If your were to get hurt what's your plan for getting help? I ask because it seems like you are in these remote areas alone and God forbid your get hurt, who's going to help you! I'm not complaining, I really enjoy what you do, and as much as I enjoy your videos, I want to see you safe.

Im so happy that you dont put any music over your videos. I love music, but listening to the flowing water while watching this in bed puts me right to sleep
This was such a nice video! I enjoyed all the different views of the pond and the drain, but also the nice photos and the beavers. Also that underwater action shot was great. I really enjoyed the algea floating into the grate, even though that’s more work for you.
And thanks for bringing the fishing line to the attention of the authorities.
Great video all around!
Hey.. pull up a chair and wait.. it will clog again in 30 mins.. you could spend all day there... but what a nice place to sit for the day.. !!!
AND RELAXING ALL DAY
I actively come back to see how this drain is doing because I know you'll be cleaning it regularly.
I always love watching these videos

I can relate to do that. Lol
Some gf you have, she should be doing that, not you. :/
@@MezzoForte4 they seem to be oblivious to leg shavings blocking showers and baths, but woe betide any man for leaving a beer top on the side. Lol
Why is she pooping in the shower?
It almost seems like the drain grate should have bigger holes to pass more debris and prevent clogging. Great job keeping an eye on it and preventing flooding. The permanent fix would be to install a spillway but that would be a huge expense.
I see you take great pride in what you do, Great job as always. So satisfying when you clear a drain and watch it empty.
This boy gonna drain the ocean some day
If there's a clog post 10 will come.
Why isn't this a show on the Discovery channel? IDK why I can't stop watching
Me too i told my boyfriend i can't stop watching it so satisfying
That would require all kinds of expensive permits in most places and ruin the whole thing.
This way he can go in, clean it up and go on to the next drain.
i am from the other side of the globe, just watched 2 of your videos before i decided to subscribe.. what i like about your topic choice.. it is so simple and yet have a big "wow" effect... without all the fancy cars, fancy food, fancy places to review.. thank you.. i enjoyed your posts very much .,
Love watching your videos. well done to you for helping out in your community. The world could do with lots more people like you.
This was one of your best videos I have seen. The views of the environment was wonderful. It was good to see further around that body of water and to see the beaver lodge. Blueberry looked nice
If you’re out there every week we would love to see more of your videos made. You are getting quite a lot of people who really enjoy looking at your work... so please share with us. 🌏☀️
Loved the different camera angles you gave us. I would love to see more timelapse footage as well as different camera angles especially the underwater one! Super cool! I think just for fun it may even be interesting to bring a thermal camera out and see what you can see :) awesome work man keep it up!
U r an absolute asset to ur community, keep up the good work, and enjoy watching ur videos.. Thank you for sharing.
Why am I drawn and continue to watch these vids. Maybe because I use to design roadways!?!
There always need and maintenance schedule for drainage, it is important.
A simple job but save nature. Unfortunately I just found this channel. I'm so happy how you unclogging the dirt out of that drain.
Aw man that water is really nasty... but so satisfying to watch lol
Your close up camera work is beautiful so soothing.EXCELLENT.🙏🏻🙏🏻😊🌸🇬🇧
Seems like a full time job at this drain. What is this, the 5th video?
BTW: Has the township ever realized how much money you have saved them? You would think someone would send these videos to them and maybe they would kick in a few bucks to you.
The rushing water is so calming, all thanks to you! Great work.
Idk how this got in my feeds and how I got draped off into watching it now I'm kind of hooked
You should give us a smile on camera. The brief shot we got, you remind me of my nephew when he was younger. Still enjoying your videos. Your hard work is not in vain. 👍🏻

Right
(And I am his biggest fan from Australia)
One thing I miss about visiting the fam back east (New Hampshire) are the blueberries. You have blueberries out there like we have blackberries here (Oregon). We have blueberries, too (AND huckleberries at a little higher elevation), but you can't move without being attacked by a blackberry briar! ;) Your cinematography is really good in this one particularly.
Watching this is strangely satisfying. This is my 4th of these now...

Happily Single Great exercise! Take your time!
Happily Single Put a really cold ice pack under and on top of your knee. Until it’s numb...20 mins. Use a baggie with crushed ice. Put directly on skin. Do that about every other day. Stops inflammation. Take 800 mgs of ibuprofen when it’s bad. One time. If you can take that. Do not use heat. Makes it worse.

So soothing hearing the sound of rushing water.
This really should be at least be a 2 hour video. Who knew that getting rid of pond scum would be so satisfying?
This is even better watching the lake drain culvert series the second time, thanks pos!
Im thinking that it may be useful to have one of those long-reach nets? Kind of like the swimming pool ones but the net being tight at the end and not loose?
May be useful for those cases where theres a build up of dirt on the surface, you can grab the algae in the back with the net before cleaning the grate so that you don't clean up something that will get clogged back up instantly, like the algae on the left? Just a thought :)
Me: what can i do, I'm just one man?!

It's a shame you don't really get paid for this has that Lake ever overflowed before you started clearing that drain it's an interesting hobby really quite satisfying to watch
Yes. He has an earlier video that shows that a nearby road and a few properties around the lake that floods
I seem to know that lake drain quite well. Another great job. Pete (Manchester UK)
That is a such a satisfying drain to have clear! It has such a high flow with even a little bit of TLC! nicely done!

The work you do for your community is great.
I know this drain (our favorite drain!) has been replaced, but as I watch this I keep thinking what a pity it was that the grate couldn't be lifted with a jack or pry bar or something. The pond scum could've rushed through with the surge of water, rather than getting stuck on the grate. Oh well, it's all water through the grate now... 😁 Thanks!!! 👋🏼✌🏽
Never imagined this showing up in my recommended, I luv it, Keep up the Great Work, SUBBED!!!
I’ve watched this particular video before and I’m back again. It is one of my favorite ones. I especially appreciate the way Post explains the reasons the clogs formed and what it takes to prevent them. He is a force to be reckoned with when he finds an area that is life threatening. He will contact the department which should be responsible for caring for that area and keep calling until measures are taken to correct the issue. He receives no compensation for what he does nor does he accept offers of help from his followers. I’ve never seen anyone, in this “modern” era, who even comes close to who Post is or what he does.
The only way I have found to support Post in what he does is to purchase shirts. They are excellent quality.
You Bless me everytime, caring for safety of others!!
Please be safe out there! You're making more of a difference than you know and you're a necessity at this point.
Simple un clog today helps keep the drains working week depending on locations. Stuff that blocks drains being algae, pine needles clups,
Leaves, sometimes trash sticks
This is a good man we are talking about. He's a hero.
I really enjoyed this. I can see why you do what you do. Keeping things moving, it"s absolutely beautiful, keeps people safe and you enjoy it. I like seeing it from your perspective. Thanks.
Hi! I’m from the UK, I just would like to say that what you’re doing @post10 is very admirable! You obviously have the safety of people using flooded roads at your heart and care for the property of people that gets flooded by the Beaver activity. It’s such a shame that the town and county authorities don’t seem to care about the issues that you find. I suppose it comes down to the financial cost ultimately! Very, very well done! 👍🏻
Only channel I watch both ads on ❤
Good video, your an inspiration. The love and care you have for your community and environment is truly remarkable. We could all learn alot from you buddy. A truly rare and awesome person you are. Well done buddy 👍 👏 🏆
You should be on the show "Dirty Jobs" with Mike Rowe.
I can’t put into words how much I love this video
Addictive, I happened upon your channel and watched a few uploads, then another then another. Watching a trickle turn into a major unclogging is addictive. Great work
I was Low Key waiting for you to take a mis-step into the pond hahaa
You are a true inspiration for younger folks. I sure hope you are getting paid for your hard work. Keep it up
This drain needs a lip made of screen, hardware cloth that would keep the sludge off the main grate or a floating boom made of bottles to keep it out. The lake is an old and has an oxygen debt. If it had more water flowing in over rock rapids or a wind powered oxygen stirrer it wouldn't make so much agal bloom. Grass carp love that stuff and sometimes they are stocked to clean out ponds and lakes. Thanks for your channel. I enjoy it.
I use this channel to fall asleep to. Excellent.
It's amazing to see the difference you make as the water starts to run into the drain.
That would be a great band name “Whirlpool of Sludge”
I'd pick maybe ''Sludge Slime and the Whirlpools'' but Whirlpool Sludge works for me. I remember Sludge worked on a demo recording with Lou Reed back in '69 at the Chelsea Hotel in New York but Andy Warhol vetoed the use of the name. He later withdrew his objection and settled on Campbells soup as his main theme. Sludge and the Whirlpools received no royalties from Lou Reed after the demo recording but managed to appear on the liner notes of Lous Coney Island Baby album in 1976....tho' my memory might be a bit sludgy.
Yeah. Sludge metal🤘

Love this drain. Much love from Cape Girardeau Missouri!
Awww I love the beaver family! So cute! Thanks for showing the beaver!💕
Love beavers cool little critters, i think theyve recently released some beavers into the wild here in the UK. It'll be nice to see beavers in the wild here again but it might be a while before i see one myself, they need to start spreading and breeding across the country before i get to see one wild anyway.
You should get a net that has roughly the same size holes as the grate so that every time you come you can just pull the new up and dump it off to the side, it wouldn’t get everything but it would make your job a lot easier.
