The author Tolkien said himself that no person would have had the strength to destroy the ring (Even Aragorn or Gandalf). It was a miracle that Frodo got as far as he did without being corrupted sooner. The hope of the world relied on an impossible hope (Gollum accidentally destroying the ring). Frodo reached much farther than anyone else could have, and he should not be judged or condemned for his "weakness" (anyone else would have succumbed to the ring). Great reaction!!!!
Indeed. Frodo got it as far as anyone possibly could, and it is because he made it to the Cracks of Doom that the Ring was destroyed. He may have been unable to cast it into the fire (no one could), but because he managed to get it there, Gollum's intervention led to it's destruction. Truly incredible writing by Tolkien.

It was lucky for everyone that Frodo listened to Gandalf when he told him to spare Gollum's life and take pity on him. If they had killed Gollum, their mission would've failed. Frodo held out until the very very end, and when evil finally won over him, Gollum was there to finish the task. Evil took out evil, essentially the Ring's corruption became its own undoing.
@@sunfurycommenting1013 The supreme deity of their world, Eru, is said to have had a part to play in this. Though he is said to never interfere in the affairs of mortals, Gandalf remarks that it was so curious that Gollum managed to be exactly where he needed to be when Frodo's will faltered.

Throughout the years smeagol convinced himself that he didn't kill his friend and that the ring was given as a birthday present.
Yes, it was quite a tragedy that Deagol died so suddenly after giving Sméagol his present.

If I cried in front of my friends during a film, they would mock me, even if good naturedly. The only thought Mansoor had when Naveed broke down at the seperation of Sam and Frodo, was to comfort him. I am humbled.
The LOTR trilogy was made for Naveed and Mansoor! Sam and Frodo's friendship obviously affected them and resonated with them deeply.

Faramir's father wasn't a King of Gondor. He was just a Steward. In control until the true King comes back.
Considering that there hadn't been a king in Gondor for for over 900 years (976 years - I checked on google), it would seem reasonable to the Steward to become king. It was touched in the movie but I get it that these would not understand the concept of Steward. Many times Denethor would ask how long does the line of steward remain without being king. Boromir probably thought the same thing "Gondor has no king. Gondor needs no king."
What a treat to watch two such wholesome people react to these films. I particularly enjoyed how the themes of friendship resonated with them so strongly. Mansoor tearing up when Frodo sent Sam away had me tearing up too. I really enjoy their movie reactions.

I love how universal a story like Lord of the Rings is - all the characters, their archetypes, their ambitions, justifications - the themes, its something you can understand from a scyscraper city, to the middle of the jungle, or the icy tundra - its about humanity, about corruption, about courage, no wonder it's *such* a cultural beacon!
Apropos- it is a Christian tale, after all.

if family, friendship and love where not something that the world held in high regard before Christianity then I doubt humanity would have gotten very far.
@@gladius1861 Quite apart from the fact that Christianity is nothing more than an extended Judaism: The resurrection story can be found e.g. in the Osiris cult of the ancient Egyptians, the story of Noah's Ark is a copy of part of the famous epic of Gilgamesh of the ancient Sumerians. Anyone who simply deals with the various myths and religions without reservations will see that they have influenced each other.
The mercy Frodo has for Gollum is that Frodo knows exactly what the Ring has done to Gollum because it is doing the same to him. He fears not being able to be saved if Gollum cannot be saved.

The Shire was built for the films in Matamata, New Zealand and can be visited by fans via scheduled guided walking tours. Not exactly living there, but still pretty cool!

Middle Earth is our world, according to Tolkien. Just during another era.
New Zealand is beautiful.
The mountains are gorgeous too, so much they were named the Southern Alps by the British colonists, because the mountains reminded them of the Swiss Alps (also running through Austria, France and Italy).

Seeing them giggle at gimili definitely makes me smile, and their reaction to frodo and sam's friendship is so wholesome. this was a great series of movies for them.
Frodo did not fail. The quest was to get the ring to Mount Doom, but it was always a suicide mission. No one could have destroyed the ring willingly.
The ghosts are the oath breakers, they were supposed to fight alongside isildur against sauron (at the point where saurons finger was cut off) but they instead broke their oath and didn't fight and so isildur cursed them, until aragorn, as heir to isildur, gave them a chance to fulfill their oath, be forgiven and to finally rest
Poor Mansoor feels everything so deeply in these movies. He's so sad when Gollum turns Frodo against Sam.
These guys might be interested to know that the Shire was built in New Zealand and the set is still there as a tourist attraction. So if they wanted to go and visit it, they absolutely could.
A few years ago I read they’re planning to build Minas Tirith.

A lot of people give Pippin grief for being so impulsive, and with just cause in some cases, However, what is not made clear in the movie is that, from a hobbit's point of view, he is not even an adult. Hobbits live longer than humans, with most of them reaching at least 100, and the "coming of age", or the point at which they are considered an adult, is 33. Pippin was only 28 when they left the Shire, so in human terms he would have been 16 or 17, an age many still act quite impulsively. That being said, he is also responsible for many key evens in the movie, without which the outcome of the war would have been very different.
You might also be amused to know there is a scene where an actor is talking to himself, and I don't mean Gollum/Smeagol. The Witch King and Gothmog, the deformed Orc that leads the armies, are played by the same actor, so the scene where the Witch King instructs Gothmog to send in all the soldiers they have, is literally this actor talking to himself in two different roles.
Many who reacted to 'Lord of the Rings: Return of the King' think that Lord Denethor is the King of Gondor, which he is not. He is only the Steward, overseer, watcher and protector of the Kingdom of Gondor. Not the King. Even Gandalf referred Lord Denethor as "Steward." Anyways, good reaction guys.
They should be shown the Tour of Hobbiton videos on YT, of the actual Hobbiton village in New Zealand where it was filmed and which is now a huge tourist attraction! As well as all the Making of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy videos showing how this epic was filmed and made!
Your facial expressions when denethor was on screen were perfect 😂😂
At the end, they wondered why Frodo was smiling when he was on the boat. He is about to join Gandalf and the Elves to sail "into the West" which means they leave the world and go to Valinor, the Undying Land of the Elves, or Elf Heaven. So, the scene is basically a metafor for Frodo dying. He dies, and the pain stops, and he's finally at peace. That's why he's smiling.
Beautiful friendship and support between these two men. They even hold hands when they watch the saddest moments in the movie. Almost like Frodo and Sam.

If you want to know more about the history of the Elves in Tolkien’s world, (and why they are all leaving during the LotR story) read “The Silmarillion”. I’m sure the is a version in your language. It’s my favorite of all his books.
Fun fact: In the books it also says that Sam lived a long life, but at the end, a ship came for him too at Gray Haven harbor, where they said farewell to Frodo. Because Sam also carried the Ring. Even if it was only for a short time, he was a Ring Bearer, and was therefor also granted a life in Valinor. So, the two friends Sam and Frodo were reunited at last.

Concerning movies, I don’t think we should bore these people with the Hobbit trilogy. If they really want to see it, they will, but I’d feel bad for them if they felt like they had to sit through it as a captive audience. We should instead show them another vintage classic like “The Shining” or move on with “Terminator 2.”
It's a testament to the power of this story that its characters, themes, etc. can be understood regardless of cultural barriers. Also, I was lucky enough to watch this in the theaters on opening night. When 43:01 happened, the entire place went _wild._ Good times.
Yeah, that's the most powerful moment of the whole trilogy. I still prefer The Fellowship of the Ring, but that took a couple of rewatches before becoming my favourite. You need to know the whole story to truly appreciate it. But that's how it goes with trilogies, every third depend on the other two.
The kids at the end with Sam, are his actual children in real life.
And that’s how Gollum/Sméagol saved the world from a tricksy hobbit carrying an evil ring. 😄

Mansoor is a little warrior when he sees emotional or unfair moments in the movie he goes in to fighting mod. 😄😄
Their reactions are so genuine and innocent.
I love how much they value the friendship between Sam and Frodo, and how much respect they have for Sam.
In the end Sam is the true hero of the story, the character is related to Tolkien's experiences fighting in ww2. You need someone by your side encouring you and supporting you and to help support the burden you carry when it becomes too great.

In all, the three movies total close to 12 hours. Glad you liked them!
The ball that saruman had is a pallantir, an ancient communication device that you could see and talk with with the other orbs. I believe there were 9 in total and only 2 remained during the scenes of the movies, its unknown how many were really created by the elves though. The stones took great will and strength to see into as you communicated by showing what was in your mind and to see into others. When pippin looked into it he wasn't ready for the consequences of his mind being seen into and that lead sauron to believe the ring bearers were at isengard with saruman and helped Sam and frodo continue their journey, the same as when aragorn looked into the stone and challenged sauron, with possibly sauron thinking aragorn had the ring.
At least three. One in Orthanc, another in Barad-dûr and third in Minas Tirith. If only Jackson had spent a minute or two showing Denethor gazing into it and falling into despair, his actions would have made far more sense.
I wonder if they know that the Shire really does exist.

I'm always impressed by how well they understand intricate concepts whether sci fi, fantasy, adventure, etc. From time to time I catch another villagers react channel and movies seem to go right over their heads😲🤯
I hope you will continue the series with The Hobbit movies (3 movies)! I actually like them even more than the Lord of The Rings movies. I think Naveed and Mansoor will enjoy them too.

Frodo received a lot of trauma from holding the Ring for so long, so he had to go to the Undying Lands on the ship to receive healing from Elves and find peace

More than anything I love how passionate and invested these reactors become when they watch movies. Lord of The Rings has me on the edge of my seat to this day and I have seen it multiple times.
Instead of the three live action "The Hobbit" movies the 1977 animated version would be great to show them since it captures the spirit of the book more. The Hobbit is where Bilbo Baggins sets off of with a group of dwarves on a adventure and finds the One Ring while Sauron is dormant and hence unaware of the ring being used

They watch dubbed versions of movies, not the original English. I very much doubt the 1977 Rankin/Bass Hobbit film has been dubbed into Urdu, especially as it's also a musical and songs won't translate directly. Plus it is very... "hippy"... for want of a better word... it is quite a hard watch these days because of the obvious 70's culture influences.

They watch hindhi dubbed version, hindi and urdu language have similarities
The Lord of the rings is about friendships, companionship. Things that Tolkien saw when he was a young officer on the western front in the 1914 to 1918 war.
He also.knew that many of the returned from the war were never healed of the horror they saw and did.
Even worse, Tolkien had three close friends in college. They all went to war and Tolkien was the only one who survived.
Dang. Every reaction video cuts the few seconds that are the best! When Gandalf uses his white flame, Flame of Anor, or whatever power he has up his sleeves (A ring of power) on the Nazul when they are falling back to Minas Tirith, and the camera pans right for once second to capture Minas Tirith from "behind the horse" perspective!
I still cry every time when Frodo leaves at the Grey Havens. These two are the best reaction duo on UA-cam, bless them both.
It would be lovely if you could travel to New Zealand and see Hobbiton and Rohan and Gondor for yourself.
Frodo never fully healed from his wounds, which means he could never stay happy in Middle-Earth. He, Gandalf, Bilbo, and the rest are going to the undying lands (Elf heaven essentially), where mortal beings usually aren't allowed. An exception is made for Frodo and Bilbo because they were ring bearers. In the appendices we learn that Sam becomes mayor of the Shire and lives a long and happy life. After his wife dies, he also sails west to the undying lands because he was briefly a ring bearer. So Frodo and Sam do meet again. Merry and Pippin spend their days with Aragorn in Gondor, and when they die they are buried next to Aragorn's grave. Legolas and Gimli remain friends, and their friendship heals the rift between Dwarf and Elf. When they reach their end, they also sail to the undying lands together. It's a massive honor for Gimli, being a dwarf, and never a ring bearer. Once they leave, the fellowship is gone from Middle Earth forever.

Interesting, He could recognize "Bilbo" from the robot role in Alien but did not recognize the Dwarf as being Indy's Egyptian friend in Raders of the lost Ark.

Naveed and Mansoor's reactions are a joy to watch. They had a very good understanding of what was happening in the plot and remembered many if not all of the names of the characters and emotions they showed. I am impressed at that. I don't know if there is another movie that could quite come up to this one as far as causing such tension and emotional reactions as these two showed i the Lord Of The Rings trilogy. Excellent choice of an action tense packed series.
Naveed is quite an emotional guy
In the books, the last chapter is the scouring of the shire. This is where saruman dies, after thinking the best way to get back at gandalf is to hurt the thing he loves most - the hobbits
Sir Christopher Lee the actor that played saruman and Peter Jackson who directed the movies, had a falling out after Peter rewrote the death of saruman because the scouring of the shire felt like an epilogue, the main story is done and now the return back home and all that. Needless to say Christopher Lee was annoyed by this and didn't even turn up to the screening of return of the king.
In the book when saruman died his spirit started to travel west to the undying lands but the winds quickly changed to East, he was no longer welcome with the rest of the valar and maiar due to his betrayal.
No, the actual reason was that the whole scene where they talk with Saruman was cut out from the theatrical release. They just meet Treebeard, Gandalf mentions that Saruman is now powerless in his tower, and Pippin picks up the Palantír.
Since there was no Saruman at all in the third movie it wasn't that strange that Christopher Lee decided not to go to that cut's premiere.
You should tell them that the man on the boat Legolas shot with an arrow was the director of the movies

Shelob the spider was part of middle earth long before sauron visited. She had no intentions on the ring and would never bow to sauron, hence gollum thought he would be able to simply take the ring after frodo had been caught. He knew shelob from before when he was drawn in by sauron searching for the ring and after he escaped. He made a deal with shelob to provide her orcs to feed on in exchange for his life
Escaped from mordor that is, that's where sauron learned that "baggins" had the ring
So that you may understand, Denethor was not the king of Gondor. He was the steward of the throne of Gondor. He is the 'keeper of the throne'; there only to rule until the rightful king returns (hence the name: Return of the King). Notice Denethor doesn't sit on the throne of Gondor but in a chair at the throne's left hand.

This just comes to show that no matter what nation, culture, or religion you come from, we can all agree on at least one thing: Denethor is disgusting when he eats.

Don't be too hard on Denethor guys, he had a Palantir that Sauron drove him mad through and broke his will, that's why Palantir's are so dangerous
Yes. The movie is unfair to Denethor but there's no way it could show his whole story since we see him only in his final days when he is utterly depressed and broken.
Tell them the Shire does exist in the country of New Zealand where the movie was filmed.

Oh they would be so adorable visiting The Shire. I just had a friend take his wife and kids there at the beginning of summer and I was SOOOOO jealous! New Zealand is on my bucket list of must see place and seeing all the LOTR locations would be phenomenal. I loved seeing Naveed and Mansoor react to this and enjoy it, one of my favorite trilogies of all time!
When they bow to the hobbits I cry every time I see it. Frodo is happy in the end because he did his task well and now he goes to heaven - that is what the elves represent here in the end, they are taking Gandalf and Frodo with them.
In the end Sam grows older, be becomes mayor and years later his wife passes away. He eventually feels like there's nothing left for him in the shire and he boards a vessel to the undying lands to be with frodo. Since he was a ring bearer, for a short time, he was allowed.
Calling it heaven is basically saying because humans aren't aren't meant to live forever and neither are their souls, that they can never go to heaven. It's a thing that Tolkien wrote about I think, humans aren't meant to live forever, if their souls did they'd resent it and eventually wish for death/for it to end, not being granted it and so they're not allowed in the undying lands. Hobbits have some magic in their creation and so they're allowed.

In The Hobbit, the dwarves are playing some music, and Bilbo says "There's a magic in that music," to which Gandalf replies "You feel the love of beautiful things?" I think Gandalf would love Mansoor and Naveed, because they have passed his test for what makes a good person... One who feels love for the precious things of life.
Not a lot of people understand what Gandalf means when he is facing the Balrog and says "I am a servant of the Secret Fire!" The Secret Fire refers to the fire of life that Eru Iluvatar created which is the source of this preciousness that is hopes, dreams, fears, love, beauty, honor, compassion... Everything that makes up Good. So, when Gandalf says this, he is saying that he is a servant of life itself, and the love of it is something that proves to him, and to me, that someone is truly a good person.
Mansoor and Naveed... I truly wish I could meet you guys someday. Not many people pass this test as well as you.

Tolkien wrote The Lord of the Rings as a fictional mythology of England, and of Europe more broadly. The languages of Middle Earth, and the aesthetics, resemble that of the old kingdoms which existed before England came to be.
Although the story is a fantasy, it was written to convey the soul of England. Thank you, gentlemen, for experiencing and appreciating part of my culture.

I love how in their ENTIRE viewing of all three movies, the only time they cry is when Frodo and Sam break up because of Gollum.
