Your grandma was a wise woman! I have never seen half-square triangles done this way on the corners! I just finished a churn dash quilt and have plenty of material to make another one. I am tickled that I now have something to do with all my scraps. I just started quilting when I retired 5 years ago, but have sewn before so that part is not new to me. I am moving on with your series! Thank you so much for sharing all your wonderful ideas!
Lori, I like that you shared the 1/2" square add-on at the end of the block's assembly versus sewing it beforehand! Great tip. You are completely right about accuracy. For me, having wonky, inaccurate blocks discourages me in my quilt-making. I was almost at the point of quitting, believe it or not. This after at least 40 years of LOVING quilting! Thank you X 3! (Yep, I'm one of your older fans: 75 yrs. old.)
OMG I spit out my tea when you send go out to the barn shed for more fabric. You are the Guru of your Fabric !! You also make sewing things look so easy & relaxing. When I watch I just want to be sitting there sewing with you. It's no wonder Kimberly loves coming to your house.
Lori you just made us all jealous with your going to the shed to cut off another meter when you need it.......Advantages of doing all the hard work to be a designer!!!! Awesome 🪡🧵🪡🧵
During countless videos, I wondered why you had so little fabric in your sewing room, Lori. Now, at a minimum, you know have a fabric closet in a separate room in your house and you have a shed with fabric in it. That makes sense. Sometime, it would be nice to see your shed. Big smile!
Thank you Lori. You're inspiring me to try some new blocks! I'm saving these videos for my winter sewing (finishing off 4 quilts now that I started last fall- my husband was ill with sepsis all winter and I lost my sewing mojo until September. Now he has prostate cancer, my poor guy, but I'll try to keep sewing to preserve my sanity. I appreciate your channel!
I appreciate your videos so much! Thanks for taking the time to add all of the details of how you manage your time, fabric and space. It's so helpful for those of us who are newer quilters.....and probably for seasoned quilters as well.
I love your tutorials Lori. I feel like I’m right there with you! I love all of your designs and wish I had a barn if your fabric!!!! Haha. Thank you, thank you
I love the idea of adding the easy corner triangles after you sew the 9 patch together!! I wish I had your stash baskets and your shed of bolts of fabric. It's all so pretty!!! I'm loving the sew your stash series!
This is one of those beginner sampler blocks I handsewed for a 12 inch sampler. My first quilt. It's in purple and green. 90's prints and paisleys. LOL Beautiful backgrounds with your prints. Love it!
Love how you sew this Quick Dash Block together. Doing the Easy Corner Triangles at the end instead of Half Square Triangles wins an A+ in my book :)! No extra trimming and like you said - much more accurate. Also more enjoyable sewing - thanks Lori!
I just got your flower thing to put on my machine. I love the block and you make it look so easy. I am an old lady and just want to learn so thank you.
Had to chuckle about "skinning a cat" my grandma used that saying all the time. Love your color scheme of fabrics, HAPPY colors and they all go together. Ty for your video.
As much as I love the Churn Dash block I have yet to make one. Love the idea of sewing the corners on at the very end - what a time saver and I can see where it would be more accurate. I learn something new from you every single time I watch your videos! Thank you Lori :)
Oh Lori, the BARN comment lead me to tell my husband that I need one. Now I know where I can store even more of your fabric. Your channel is the best. I would love it if you did a give away "I know, don't say give away or free" (LOL), for a day of sewing with you. It would be a dream come true! Thank you.
Thank you, thank you! I have been straining my pea brain for what to make for my sweet neighbors first granddaughter. I have some 20's & 30's fabric that will be perfect. I love my Flea Market fabric, but have other plans for that! Love you dear girl...
Thank you for such a beautiful block. You are so kind and generous to share the measurements of your blocks in this series. I have never seen the HST done that way-very creative and I am going to try it. Love your videos
Thank you Lori for another great video. Always look forward to seeing what your going to show us next. I finally got some of your fabric ( jelly roll of flee market) and cant wait to make something with it. Love your fabrics.
Honestly Lori, I've been quilting much longer than you no doubt since I'm sure I'm quite a bit older. You still manage to teach me new stuff. Something as simple as turn the piece over so you can see it better on the cutting mat. Now why the heck did that never occur to me? Finishing the HST's afte constructing the block...genious! It's sew great for this old broad to learn some new tricks. Thanks. Keep'm coming, please.
Those are so pretty! Lori, I really like your method and it surprised me but what a great idea to snowball the corners at the end! I saw a neat video of blocks and history and this block was used to send a message to slaves pre-civil war, to get ready and get your things together because time was drawing near to escape. They would hang a quilt on the fence that told the message, so this one said get ready.
Thanks, Lori, for sharing your great tip on making the easy half square triangles after you have sewn the nine patch! The possibility of accuracy, for me, would be so much better. I am really trying to sew an accurate 1/4 inch seam and your tip on the half square triangle should really help me. I am loving your channel. Thanks so much for time and effort in making the videos. Thanks to your daughter, as well.
Great video and I like having the longer sides. I think it looks better than the traditional churn dash. Thanks for sharing the video!!! I can’t wait to try it out!
What a cute scrap block. Churn dash is my favorite, probably because it was the first block I learned to make several years ago with Eleanor Burns fabric. I was pleasantly surprised I could make a whole quilt and have been sewing ever since. LOVE your backgrounds... and your teaching. Thanks
I have so much scrap fabric. I must try this and I think I will get some baskets instead of the zip lock bags I'm using now. Thank you for the great ideas!
Such a pretty & fun block. You are so clever with your baskets! If I had that much fabric, I would do baskets too. It would be fun to just play in your scrap baskets. Lots of great things come out of those baskets. Love your channel so much. You are one busy lady and so inspiring to me! Hugs! 💕🧵
Hi Lori, I love your videos and I always learn so much...thank you. The churn dash block is my favorite, and the way you did the corners was brilliant 👏 thank you, thank you, thank you.
I am amazed at the cutting, how do you do it? You have so many baskets all ready to go, I would need to have surgery if I tried it. I am 86 and of course I find you in old age hoping I am still able to accomplish new things.I mostly do Log Cabin, 4-patch simple things. Today I am going to try the Churn Dash. You are very fine teacher and easy to follow. I get a kick out of cutting "big" to cut "small"
I know I keep saying this but fabulous tutorial and please keep them coming. What a brilliant idea to put the corner squares on last. Know what I will be doing in the future.
Thank you, Lori for making such an informative video!! I love how you give us all sorts of tips when we are sewing but also for cutting and storing!! I think I will make this into an adorable baby boy quilt!!! Thank you for everything and Cass for filming and all that entails! Oh yeah, I love the clappers. I couldn’t believe how much of a difference they can make. I only have the small one but I can’t wait to purchase the large one!!
I sure like the way you sew. It is incredible to see how your mind works, and your fabric lines are just so gorgeous. I can certainly tell you came from similar background as I did with talking about grandma and your love of vintage. Thank you for fantastic content.
Love the way you did the corners. Just saved me $ instead of using the papers. I have never really liked this block but now I think I could love it! So much quicker! So many possibilities. Your corner method causes me to think about other patterns I’ve avoided, now simplified. You teach exactly the way I like.
Lori, I 💛 your yellow featherweight! Thank you for the videos. I've been sewing for years but I always learn something new and inspirational from you. 🌷🌷
I like that square and everything is pretty just stay safe be careful out there and bless you for sharing these wonderful videos with this when you're all done with the quilt it's going to look real pretty 💜💖💜💖😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇
I have noticed in these tutorials how to sew smarter not harder. I have a pattern of the state of Texas that I have been avoiding because it has a gazillion tiny half square triangles. However, if I sew one more seam on the half square fabric I can get 4 smaller triangles that can be trimmed for what I need. Thanks, it’s registering!😍
First time I have watched your channel. Lots of great ideas!!! Thanks for sharing your wisdom. Last quilt I made I had to snowball LOTS of corners so I made HSTs at the same time. You have inspired me to make a churn dash block quilt which will still be quick because all my HSTs are already made. But I do like the idea of snowballing the corners.
Loved this block before I saw this week’s post, but love it more now! Doing the easy corners after the block was sewn is nothing short of genius! Thanks for sharing your genius with us!❤️
Thank you for this series. You've really inspired me! And I love your fabrics! I so appreciate you sharing your method of storing your stash. I am about to be overwhelmed with fabric and now I have some great ideas for organizing it!
Well shoot. I cut purple fabric on a purple mat all last weekend. Never thought of turning the fabric over (mat is too big to turn easily). Thanks Lori!!!!
I really enjoy your sew your stash videos, and I am so looking forward to your next one with the 1.5 inch squares! I accumulated so may and don’t know what to do with them.
I learn so much just watching you. Big thank you
My uncle was a fabric designer back In the 60s and 70 s. I love your fabric designs.
Your grandma was a wise woman! I have never seen half-square triangles done this way on the corners! I just finished a churn dash quilt and have plenty of material to make another one.

Lori you are truly an excellent teacher! Your manner, calm voice, techniques, tips, I could go on and on, you are a gift to us! Thank you!!!
Lori you just made us all jealous with your going to the shed to cut off another meter when you need it.......Advantages of doing all the hard work to be a designer!!!! Awesome 🪡🧵🪡🧵

Somehow, just looking at your intro and your sewing space, gives me a sense of peace.
Thank you Lori. You're inspiring me to try some new blocks! Love the idea of making the whole block without the HST & then snowballing the corners! Brilliant! It was “ why didn’t I think of that before?”
I so agree!!!
Exactly what I was going to say! Brilliant.
Me, too!! I've always loved the Churn Dash, but this is so much easier :)
I agree, that tip is fantastic! My go to now and will pass it on. Nice to always be learning on even the simple blocks.
Oh...cannot wait to try this way....thank you, Lori!
You are such a lovely lady. With a great gift of teaching and talent 🌹Thank you for all you do💞
Great video enjoyed watching your quilting process. Have a wonderful evening and happy quilting. 😊💗🧵🤗

Thank you, thank you
Your organization is a wonderful idea...I have bought your fabrics before, but just found your lessons..Thank you.
Love the trick with the corners sewn before making them into half-square triangles
One of the reasons to love Fridays, Just watched fat quarter and now a second treat
Fridays, I watch Fat Quarter Shop, Lori Holt & Edyta Sitar (Laundry Basket Quilts) videos. All three are excellent!
Me too!!! Gotta love Fridays!
I love the idea of adding the easy corner triangles after you sew the 9 patch together!! I wish I had your stash baskets and your shed of bolts of fabric. It's all so pretty!!! I'm loving the sew your stash series!

Awesome! Thank you for sharing your easy dash blocks! So much easier than the traditional piecing!
Love it, looking forward to every Fridays 🧵🧵
Had to chuckle about "skinning a cat" my grandma used that saying all the time. Love your color scheme of fabrics, HAPPY colors and they all go together. Ty for your video.
Brilliant Lori. You are a process improver genius. Thanks. ❤
Thanks Lori, so useful to have a method that is easier and looks beautiful 😍
As much as I love the Churn Dash block I have yet to make one. Love the idea of sewing the corners on at the very end - what a time saver and I can see where it would be more accurate. I learn something new from you every single time I watch your videos! Thank you Lori :)
Love your videos!!! I love the block and the helpful hint. I really love Miss Dolly!!! She is so pretty!

I am a beginner and this is a real help. Thank you so much.
Thank you Lori for another great video. Always look forward to seeing what your going to show us next. I finally got some of your fabric ( jelly roll of flee market) and cant wait to make something with it. Love your fabrics.
I'm sew glad you started this Sew Your Stash Series...I want to make them all. Thinking of maybe doing a quilt with a row of maybe my 7 favorites
Such a lovely idea!
I just love how you organize all your fabrics by size and baskets- and I just love your designs and fabrics - wish I was incredibly wealthy 😂💗
Lori, you are a piecing savant! I learn something amazing every time I watch. TY 💕💕💕
Another awesome scrappy tutorial! Thank you, Lori! ❤️

I love churn dash blocks, so this quick dash is right up my alley ❤️❤️
Such a pretty & fun block. You are so clever with your baskets! If I had that much fabric, I would do baskets too. It would be fun to just play in your scrap baskets. Lots of great things come out of those baskets. Love your channel so much. You are one busy lady and so inspiring to me! Hugs! 💕🧵

First time I have watched your channel. Lots of great ideas!!! Thanks for sharing your wisdom. Last quilt I made I had to snowball LOTS of corners so I made HSTs at the same time. I’m learning so much Lori. Thank you so much for all your basket ideas. 👌
I am a beginner quilt and I like your skinning the cat(family word too). You are so easy to follow and watch.
