I’m going to have to put myself in time out. Firstly, I can’t stop watching all your fabulous videos Lori. Secondly, I’ve got so many of your scrappy quilts on the go, and I desperately would love to see mine finished. But, keep the videos coming as they make my day, and I’m certain lots of others are the same.💖💖💖💖
Hi Lori from Maine😘. I used to follow you on your blog several years ago up as I was recuperating from a severe injury. Reading the quilt blogs kept me sane during those 2 years. Afterwards as life went on, I didn’t have the time between working, my two horses, and quilting. I’d occasionally throw housework in there. Just kidding as I’m an organizational person. Follow the genes! My father was a design engineer. Recently saw you on Kimberly Jolly’s interview. I ❤️ loved the show and couldn’t believe that I hadn’t been watching/following your channel. Really enjoyed this show. I once sewed triangles as I was working on my ‘main’ quilt that would become a gift for my brother and sister-in-law. This show has prided me to utilize this technique for more quilts. I have found that for me…..I prefer to make a quilt from start to finish, training myself to ignore promptings to start a new quilt while making my current one. Full disclosure, sometimes the label and pictures happen after the quilt is finished…. Like several weeks. I was fascinated watching your system today. I do have one although not quite as thought out. I have a black stained hutch that hubby made in my quilt room with three shelves. I use glass jars similar to the ones at stores way back when, that sat on the checkout counter with whole pickles in them. I store fabric cut into many different sizes and labeled: Light, Medium, Dark and the 2.5” also Bright. I’m constantly using these. I’m also a born and raised New Englander so ‘frugality’ is in my genes. The quilt that I am binding right now has a pieced backing. It evolved as I didn’t have any yardage suitable for this quilt so I used leftover fabric form the front along with more on hand. When I started the backing and looking for fabric, I came across about 1 yard of blueish landscape that I loved. It reminded me of Maine winters (my favorite season). It is sort of watercolor visually. It was perfect. So I cut it into maybe 7-8 chunks… all different sizes. Then I added fabrics improvisational style until it was large enough for my backing. It’s so much fun showing the quilt as the response is divided when I ask friends and family which side is the top. This isn’t the first time that a long ago forgotten fabric was Just the Perfect choice for a quilt. In this case, it created a spectacular Second Quilt. I named it Winter Frost, quite aptly named. I even sprinkled in frosted fabrics on both sides. Reminds me when we have ice storms and the gorgeous view as soon as the sun comes out on our snow covered winter woodlands. Oh, btw, I am in the process of planning a quilt for a son and daughter-in-law who have requested a farm quilt. I have collected plaid flannel for the quilt and designed several farm related vignettes for appliqué. Some will incorporate some of their stories. With watching this video, I’m now thinking of buying one of your farm books and adding several pieced blocks. Again, I see this layout as an improvisational style quilt. Thanks so much and hugs from Maine. Heading out to give my horses, Noel and Holiday their hay. (Their names is a whole other story!
I have almost all your books. I'm making the weathervane table runner now in Prairie and just joined the Lori Holt Club with Fat Quarter Shop. I plan to start the Quick Broken Dishes quilt and Criss Cross Star Block quilt as soon as I receive the first shipment! Each month I will add new blocks from each shipment to create 2 quilts! I also have so much of your fabric but love that you will be curating the fabrics. I won't have to think about all those color combos. I've watched all your tutorials and am a huge fan of all your creations! I'm so inspired! Thanks so much!
I'm so glad I bought the "Vintage 2". I really want to make the houses block and the log cabin block. One for a wall hanging and the other for under my sewing machine. You are sew amazing, Lori. The quality of your work is outstanding. I love how I can open your book, and it stays open. There are so many books that should stay open(cook books for definite). Every book maker needs to take this technique and use it more often. Thank you to Lori and Casidy. Really appreciate your hard work and drive that make me want to make everything you have ever designed. ❤🎉😊
Such cute ...everything! I was born in 1950 and all your pretty colors would have gone with my bedroom. Now I want your books and make my great nieces doll quilts! Love the small stuff. I used to make miniaturescand have made king size too
I still cannot figure out how you find the time to quilt, cross stitch, crochet and design blocks and publish so many books. You are truly a super person and so glad you share with us. Such inspiration is unlimited. I need to get up earlier and stay up later to try and catch up😆
The scrappy background makes me think of shirting. Liz Porter made some of the best quilts with 1800's reproduction fabrics and shirting fabrics I have seen. Those type of quilt and Lori's happy fabrics are catnip for me! I am in heaven! 😊
Each time I watch any of your videos, I catch myself saying "She is just simply brilliant!" I LOVE this idea for making the broken dishes block. SOOOO much easier for those tiny pieces. :) Thank you for sharing your knowledge and giving such great advice.
I'm totally jealous of all of your different color featherweight machines. I want that green one! I absolutely love your room. I moved to a really small apartment, I'm 77 and all I really need is my TV a couch a bid and my sewing space and I'm a happy camper. I thought I had enough to do until I started watching your videos and now I can't live long enough. LOL. A friend and I are really into Scrappy and I've been sharing your videos with her and she loves all of the scrap blocks that you make. As do I. Thank you so much for your sharing. I know so many people are hooked on you as a quilter and now I understand why
Lori, It is no wonder why Kristie and Kimberly love to visit with you. You are AMAZING! Your excellent teaching skill and sharing of your tips and tricks have made me a better quilter. Of course all your fabric lines, cross stitch and books are so beautiful. Thank you ever so much.❤️🧵🪡❤️
When I look at how many things that you are involved in; crochet, cross-stitch, fabric collections, quilt patterns, quilt books, video tutorials in each craft, visiting other quilt shops and doing videos with them... the list goes on and on. How do you do it, girl? I am awed by your accomplishments. Love these scrappy quilt blocks that you are sharing with us and appreciate all the tips to get a nice completed block. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise. Blessings to y'all.
Thank you Lori!... You inspire all of us Lori Holt wannabes! I could watch you all day long... but then wouldn't get any sewing done... Please keep up all the hard work that goes into these videos... We appreciate it so much!!
I wash all your videos and tutorials over and over because I learn so much from you. Your designs are beautiful and you are an amazing designer and quilter. Plus I learned crocheting from you and I love your cross stitchings. I got the templates for granny’s garden and chicken salad. The fabric I ordered is coming soon. LOVE LOVE YOU FABRIC. They all seem to go together. ❤️
I love scrappy - it never gets boring. This is the first time I’ve watched one of your videos. I love your happy room and vintage style. Thanks for sharing!
Thank You Lori, you have inspired me to make the broken dishes blocks, I am a newer quilter and love watching this series of videos. your scrappy quilts are beautiful, thank you x
Thank you so much for the small tutorial I am in hospital with cancer so it keeps my mind on getting back to my quilting when I’m done, which from what I understand will be in about 6-7 months so all of you feeds all me so thank you so much Sonja
I love what you do with colour and I think your little quilts are so sweet. Your instructions are concise and easy to follow. Thanks so much Lori. Blessings Gail.
Lori, once again, I am in awe of your talent. I don't think I can express my gratitude for all of your generosity in sharing your knowledge with all of us. Casity is one lucky daughter to have such an amazing and wonderful mom! Thank you so much for all you share. As always, your work is outstanding! The way you explain everything is beyond words. Thank you!
I am so in love with those doll quilts and those cute blocks! Thank you for showing how to use your sewing time wisely by doing “bonus” blocks! Have a wonderful day 💖
Lori I'm a Utah girl too but no longer live in state. I appreciate this series so much! I have loved every video so much and they are very helpful to me. Thank you!!
Love these blocks and the bright, happy scrappiness of them! Your sewing studio is a crafters dream!! Thanks for sharing your time, designs and wonderful tips and tricks to making beautiful treasures! I bet your grandbaby LOVES going to her Grannies house!!!
I can’t thank you enough for this Sew Your Stash series! I learn so much with each and every video! Now if I could just get as much piecing, cross stitch, and crocheting done as you do, I’d be one very happy camper! I always look forward to your weekly videos (and many thanks to your daughter for filming them for us)!
It just amazes me how much you get done. Everything is so fun and pretty. An awesome place to design and create in. Cassidy does a great job of filming. Thanks Cassidy!
Lori I have never seen this method for the hour glass blocks. My mind is blown and I’m so excited and can’t wait to stitch some of these blocks. Thank you for your genius teaching. Love all your scrappy goodness. ✂️✂️✂️
Thank you, Lori, for sharing your knowledge about quilting, crochet and cross-stitch and all other stitching! The broken dishes block is just adorable 🥰!!! I’ve started saving my scraps the way you talked about in your Scrappy Project Planner book!! So many beautiful quilts in all of your books
I love your work. It wasn't so much the pattern that you used but I couldn't put my finger on why do I like it until you were talking about your books and your happy fabric. That's it. It is happy fabric and I love it. I wouldn't throw those snippets off your diagonals. They are awesome if instead you sew your edges so that your triangle point goes up and then down and up and then down. Then when you have as many as you like, border them top and bottom as a small border on those little doll blankets.
Thank you Lori for your wonderful information and thank you for taking time out of your day to show all your generous how to’s. I appreciate them very much.
Lori you make beautiful blocks so simple and easy for us. Your helpful tips are very welcoming! Your videos are such a relaxing joy to watch and learn. And thanks to your daughter's filming skills.
Love your shortcuts! Right now I'm into doll quilts with a 4 yr old grand-daughter and a 4 yr grand-niece. This video came at the perfect time - Thanks sew much, Lori!
Hi Lori, Boy, when you were showing your books I cannot tell you how much I wanted to sew with those sew-a- longs. I didn’t have the fabrics or the skills I felt I needed at that time. So I am in catch up mode now. I love this series. 👏😁👏 Thank you so much for everything you do I am really enjoying myself while sewing and making beautiful quilts. ❤️🥰👏 Chris-Raleigh NC
I normally do not like scrappy quilts but I love yours ! I also like the old fashion blocks , churn dash is one of my favorite ! Thank you for all your tips and videos !
Great video. I have a big problem snowballing the corners (easy corner triangles?). The corner pieces are not square, they are offset and need to be squared up, which needless to say makes the size too small for the project. Any suggestions?
You’re talking my talk! I’ve been sewing scraps for over a year-remnants from incubator covers. The lady (84) that sees with me thinks I’m a bit too precise. I’m sending her this video. Thank you and bless you!
It's amazing how you work. I love watching you. It looks easy. But when I go back and try to do this I have one big mess. I'm not going to give up, I will keep trying till I'm a Lori Holt graduate. Thanks
Lori, your "sew your stashes series" become my most favorite tutorial, endless ideas, so fun. I have made scrappy crossroad blocks, they became my livingroom side table toppers, couch arm rest covers, etc. Thank you.
Lori your videos are so relaxing and you’re such an excellent teacher!!! I wish I lived next door to you.... you may not appreciate the intrusion, but I promise it would be fun. Haha. Have a great day!
Lori, thank you so much for doing these videos. I learn so many tips an tricks from you. I also just enjoy watching them, I could watch them all day. Thanks again!
Love all you do Lori. Love love yr sewing room. You are so well organized and it's all too cute. I myself love anything vintage. I always have. Thank you for all you do ...we appreciate you!!
I can’t tell you how much I love spending time with you in your sewing room. I soak in all the cheerful cuteness which makes me so happy, and I always learn so much! Thank you. ❤️
You have started me on a scrappy journey. cutting up scraps everyday. I also have made your Economy block but cut it down to an eight inch block as the 12 inch was too big for me and the 6 inch was too small. Having a fun time
What beautiful quilt blocks! I love these old fashioned blocks made with your fabrics! Also, thanks for showing how you normally fit in sewing secondary projects in between. That seems more doable to me now. No wasting thread either! This is just great and I love it!
I found the broken dishes block during quarantine last year. It was one of 12 blocks in a low-volume BOM - it was handles down my favorite. That is saying a lot because I love a four patch. Thank Lori for giving me a new way to piece them and some new color way inspiration!
Over half of th video over and not one seam set is the reason e will put a thumbs down and not Waste any more of my time with her videos. Because by the time she finally got around to sewing I no longer cared about any of her methods or books.
Most importantly, I LOVE how you make your books with a spiral binding. It is SO much easier to open & lay flat than others that are made with a traditional glued binding. Your books are amazing...my goal is to hopefully someday own them ALL, even though I haven't attempted making the applique pieces. Your way of making these tiny blocks makes it so much easier than doing it other ways. Thanks for sharing your great knowledge!!!
Okay, first of all, that yellow Singer! Oh my goodness! Absolutely love it! Your sewing room decor is incredible! When I grow up, I want to be you! Now, you've really lit a fire under me to use my scraps!
I’m going to have to put myself in time out. Firstly, I can’t stop watching all your fabulous videos Lori. Secondly, I’ve got so many of your scrappy quilts on the go, and I desperately would love to see mine finished. But, keep the videos coming as they make my day, and I’m certain lots of others are the same.💖💖💖💖
You have helped me so very much!!! Thank you!! Love your videos. Just got my scrappy quilt book!!!
I could watch you all day. But I now going to try a scrap quilt. Thanks for sharing
I adore these smaller projects, so much more doable for me ❤😊😊

Love this block thanks for ideas🌸

Yes love the Featherweights.
The sewing room is very lovely!
The yellow sewing -mashine is my favorite!
Right!!
Looking at that adorable yellow featherweight makes me wish I had my mom's old singer. Or even better yet, my Grandma's old treadle machine!
I enjoy watching all those beautiful scrappy projects. Thank you.
The music is very motivating. I need that to start playing when the alarm clock goes be off. Just love it. Beautiful quilts.

Thank you Lori for sharing with us! You are so generous and kind to show us your blocks. Can’t wait to start another happy quilt!!
You are so clever, Lori! I love learning from you. Thank you!!!

Great video and really enjoyed the review of all your other blocks
I wish that I could live in your sewing room Lori. Makes me happy!
I have been doing the crumb type of blocks as a bonus when sewing. I like the idea of having specific sizes. I need to organize my scraps!
Hi Lori, Boy, when you were showing your books I cannot tell you how much I wanted to sew with those sew-a- longs. I didn’t have the fabrics or the skills I felt I needed at that time.
That was so great. U gave very clear instructions. I can’t image how U can be so organized. Hope springs eternal!
Hi there from the UK, I love your videos they are truly inspirational. I wish more shops in the UK stocked your range of fabric it's so pretty.
Fabulous once again. How could any true quilter put a thumbs down on ANY of your videos?! 😍
Over half of th video over and not one seam set is the reason e will put a thumbs down and not Waste any more of my time with her videos. Because by the time she finally got around to sewing I no longer cared about any of her methods or books.
Morning from ireland. Genius idea never though it could be made so simply. THank you
Absolutely adorable. You are amazing
You bring so much joy and learning to all of us! Thank you for being you!
Good morning from Russel, Ontario. I love you’re method of sorting and storing your fabrics. Your method of piecing is fantastic.
I’m definitely a scrap-happy lady! Thanks for the encouraging chat on sewing the small things 🥰
