    It is worth noting that *any* time you sew strips to frame blocks or motifs, you must match the lengths of opposite sides of those strips as well. Medallion quilts are essentially a series of borders and unless you use this process as you go, they will end up full of bubbles and ruffles.

      21:50 I just watched your video and it was great. I have a problem. I did not cut my borders the long way, I cut my borders the other way. How can I see the seams together so they will look right now? Any suggestions are appreciated!

    Do you alter where the seam line is on the opposite of the borders?

      I like to cut my borders length of fabric so I don’t have seams. But if I have seams, I usually put them toward the lower end of the quilt. There isn’t a real reason for that, it’s just my personal preference.

    Ate you sewing over the pins?

    • @SweetheartQuiltDesign
      @SweetheartQuiltDesign  3 місяці тому

      Yes, it’s a little thing my seventh grade home economics teacher taught me to do and I haven’t broken the habit yet. You do have to be very careful, go slowly and you have to know your machine can handle it. I know there are some brands that if you hit a pin, it has to go to the repair person.

    I am very interested in the gold, green, orange and brown quilt behind you, could you please direct me to the pattern?

      The pattern is called Terrazzo. It’s fun to make and uses color values to make it look dimensional. I have a class for it on my Podia channel.

    When do you use best press?

    • @SweetheartQuiltDesign
      @SweetheartQuiltDesign  Рік тому

      Most of the time I use it to get wrinkles out and the bolt fold before I cut the fabric. I have used it to stabilize fabric when I’m going to be cutting on the diagonal. If you spray small pieces with best press spray it’s easy to get them distorted, so I try and stay away from that.
