I'm an audiophile who is addicted to the sound of guitar 🎸 music. & For me Trey Giuseppe Anastasío is the Best concert electric guitarist ever. & Yes I know the Competition!!!
He was in the mid 90s absolutely. Not sure how you could say he still is. Even if you get past that awful tone he has now (that doesn't blend nearly as well with the other instruments as it did in past), his phrasing is very autopilot sounding default hand position pent licks to my ears. His playing bears no resemblance to his former greatness imo.
Greatest band ever. Keep diving down the rabbit hole and you will not regret it. The more you put in with this band, the more you get out - exponentially!
@@SaeedReacts. Started at the Colorado State Fair. They Opened for Santana in Aug. '92. I saw most between then & 2000. But, I live in Denver and they've played the Dick's Sporting Goods stadium 🏟️ (soccer) for 3 or 4 nights a year since 2011. That's like 43 or close concerts, in my home town in just the late 13 years. "For at least as many years, I took the Highway thru the Great Divide" -Wedge
Thanks so much for checking this out man! You nailed the reaction- the lyrics and the bluesy riff that morphs into psychedelic realms is spot on. Also, very glad you mentioned YES, whose progressive style has been an influence on Phish since their inception! Would love to see you check out some more, but keep in mind, most of their live performances extend far beyond the 9:46 this one does!
Great song and performance. Its definitely an experience. More than a song. Definitely want to hear more. On days when requests are low, i try to check out the longer songs on my list. Thanks again for this request.
I attended UVM just 4 years after the band formed. I lived for 2 years in the same dorm complex where Mike and Trey lived, WDW. I wasn't into them yet, but they were still playing the dorms and parties. I heard them while walking by Nectar's, but in the 80s, it sounded like noise. I got into them hard in 1990 after roommates sat me down with tapes and a joint. My first song was Contact. My first show was Barre VT 91. I met them one time or another and had a few backstage experiences at Deer Creek in 2003. After one show, Mike and I drove around the lot in a golf cart. Got stuck in the mud. I jumped out to get us out, and a random fan started laughing at my muddy feet, until he looked up and saw Mike. We were out there so long that he called the bus driver to let him go to the hotel (with Fishman). I drove Mike to his hotel in my car. We passed fans on the highway who had no idea. The hotel was something else. Fishman was playing chess with someone when we got there. In another room, I hung out with Chris Kuroda, who plays the lights like an instrument. He was not in a good mood. In 2004, I was invited to a surprise bday party for Mike's 40th at his house. For a while, I sat with his fiancé and her parents. Phish was playing on the TV. Her parents said they were told Phish was this huge, popular band. I assured them they were.

Whats the longest song request you take? I would love to make a recommendation for your next phish song but wanna know what the limits are. Although some of their longer songs are the best haha
I had to implement an 8 minute time limit recently, because of the volume of requests that had tripled in the last month and i could not keep up anymore. Sometimes i don't mind if it is a bit longer or if someone had tipped higher. But usually i stick to my 8 minute rule, just because of time. When i do have time free, i try to record the video's that i know will take longer. It does seem that these moments are growing a bit rare :)
6/19/12 Maze is a fun one for noobs. Not their best Maze, but the mix is good, the video showcases all members well including the hidden 5th member - Chris Kuroda (the guy running the lights), and it highlights the band's personality while also spotlighting how friggin talented they are
Love. Thank you. Interesting track for a debut. There's a "The Wedge" with REO teases in it. Check that. Also: Dick's "Light" from...I'm old; it'll auto-populate.
The only words in Manteca are "crab in my shoemouth" and David Bowie is "David Bowie, UB 40." Should have said, If you're into lyrics, check out some of their other songs, but you may want to skip Manteca and David Bowie because they have a total of 8 words between two songs.

God Trey sounded so awful in 2018. Why do noobs always recommend the worst versions of songs on these youtube channels? I could think of a million other Sands I'd recommend before this one.
Sup man, interesting take. This was my request, and no, I don’t have 300 shows under my belt. Mondegreen got me up to 56 and my next will be Albany. Hope you see you there. So I suppose that may still classify me as a “noob” in your opinion, but I’ll explain my request choice anyway. First and foremost, I’m not sure what 2018 you were listening to, but we will have to agree to disagree on your claim that “Trey sounded like shit” that year. I’m sure there are many who would agree with me on that. Second, this channel asks that requests are no longer than 8 minutes in length. So in my mind, I needed to find something within those restraints. This is over that 8 min limit by almost two min, so i figured it may be close enough. But I also needed to consider introducing someone to Phish. Something that gets out there, while not weirding them out is always what’s worked for me. Sand is an accessible song, and I’ve always thought this was a nasty version. In the end, I wanted something that was respectful of the time limit, while also being accessible for new listeners, while still being a great performance. Sorry you don’t like this one. Hope to see you in Albany.
@@LumpyHeadStudios Hey there. Sorry if I came off as a bit persnickety. I love watching Phish reaction vids on youtube (obv) but like 90% of the time, it's a 3.0 version that's not that good/re-listenable and should never be the first video someone sees imo. This has way less to do with your specific request and more of just a general complaint in the wind. I know nothing will ever be done to change this but I just wanted to voice my displeasure. This actually was not a terrible version, just not the first version I would've picked. A couple short Sand's that I would've picked over this one would be for example, 6/11/11, 12/31/10, 1/2/16, 7/13/14 just to name a few. 2018 is not a great year for Phish imo. Some highlights here and there but overall one of their down years of 3.0 imo. Best years are 2012, Fall 2013, 2015, 2017, 2021, and 2024 imo. I realize it's hard to find good video though and the more quality videos tend to be newer versions of songs but if it's really about the music itself, there's still tons of pure audio recordings on youtube out there that can be listened to.
