SO THE VOTE BEGINS FOR NEXT WEEK.... right here on this comment thread. Go ahead and throw whatever Phish track/performance you think I'd dig. I'm game for whatever after I finish picking my brain up off the floor.
I’m throwing 12/30/2019 Tweezer in the ring as the dark horse. It’s also glorious. Yes, they’ll be other Tweezers from 93-95 that you’ll run through at some point, but the 2019 has crispy video AND a top tier jam.
If you're interested in Phish covering another artist, here's an amazing version of Stevie Wonder's Boogie On Reggae Woman ua-cam.com/video/2pAt6Wvg9yQ/v-deo.html Your reactions are great!
You are by far my favorite music reviewer on UA-cam. Your Phish reviews are absolutely incredible as you can totally tell you're listening to these songs for the first time. God bless you and your family bro keep posting Phish man. Cheers from Buffalo, NY.
Awesome, been loving watching your journey with Phish. They’re a band that changed my life. Us phans are insistent on sharing phish with people around us in the hopes that they will “get it”, as well as understand why we are all so obsessed. But often our attempts are somewhat dismissed, and the fear of being an annoying weirdo trying to push our music makes us timid to do so. But we’re not crazy, there’s something special there that just either clicks…or doesn’t and that’s okay for those people. I’m so thankful it clicked for me. Watching it click for you, gives me all the warm and fuzzy feelings. Appreciate your videos man!
Guyute 9/17/2000 from Merriweather. That crowd was PUMPED and this was the opener. The whole show is amazing too and kind of a sleeper that isn't talked about much. Probably the best Mango Song ever as well.
The trey solo at the end can really bring down the house and some are better than others for sure. This song is mostly all composed until the final trey solo. Going over to watch the Gin now, which is fully improvised after the first 5 mins. The song Bathtub Gin is a little hard for people to get but offers incredible jams.
@L33Reacts the key is different songs were amazing in different eras of Phish. Watch them jam a newer song. You're hooked 🪝 now and it's wonderful to witness. Phreak the reactions and do a deep dive of your own. Some of the most amazing improvisational jams ever await you. Thx for being you 🎶🎶🎵🎶💯✌️☮️🕊️
The early days were so wild and exciting, especially starting around 89. I know I feel beyond lucky to have been able to see this band from their college bar days to today. I don't take what we have for granted.
I have this show on tape. This has a very different second set than most shows. For some reason they were going into and out of songs with Mike's song and Weekapaug being the main idea. PHISH, SATURDAY 02/20/1993 ROXY THEATRE Atlanta, GA SET 1: Golgi Apparatus, Foam, The Sloth, Possum > Weigh > All Things Reconsidered, Divided Sky, The Horse[1] > Silent in the Morning > Fluffhead, Cavern SET 2: Wilson[2] > Reba > Tweezer -> Walk Away -> Tweezer > Glide > Mike's Song[3] -> My Mind's Got a Mind of its Own[4] -> Mike's Song > I Am Hydrogen -> The Vibration of Life -> Kung -> I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove -> Have Mercy[4] -> Weekapaug Groove -> Rock and Roll All Nite Jam[5] -> Weekapaug Groove, Fast Enough for You > Big Ball Jam > Hold Your Head Up > Terrapin > Hold Your Head Up -> Harry Hood, Tweezer
In 1992 a water leak at the Roxy cancelled the shows and Trey vowed to come back and give the fans a show so they did a 3 night run in 93 there and went full off. The night of this show a guy came to the show dressed head to toe as Gene Simmons of Kiss and was in the front row and the band was having a blast with it. Just one of those shows where a bunch of things came together to make it special.
This song is really sort of 4 songs that they combined into one. Fluff's Travels, Lushington, Clod, and Bundle of Joy. There are in fact some really early shows from the mid-late 80's where they played the segments as pieces on their own before it was one big song.
Thanks for doing two reactions my brother… Always good to see how you continually understand what’s going on with this band! They really do transform you to a different place with so much that happens musically and otherwise🔥
They played straight from the circus realm of d i m i t ri, their music is like the incredibly weird and beautiful stuff the beings are doing there, exactly alike, is made from the same etheric material, it looks like the phish boys are home there. Although with the years passing by, their disguise as humans is getting better
Fluffhead is one of their first original song which they first played in 1984. They stopped playing during the short 2.0 era until the end of their hiatus because they found it too hard play at that time (They were a bit of mess). When they came back in 2009, Fluffhead was the first song they played at the Hampton Coliseum. The place quickly recognized the statement the band was making and went wild,
That is not the story lol. All the hair he had left were the fluffballs, no glue or cotton balls. His little brother thought it looked weird, and wished he would shave them, but didn’t have the heart to say it. He told the story to Trey/Tom after he died and they made the song ti cheer him up.
Bouncing NEVER has jamming or any modifications at all! One of the few phish songs like that. Chalkdust Torture, check out 12/31/95 for what we would call a straightforward ripper, or 7/10/99 Camden for what many of us call one of Phish’s best jams ever.
Someone should stick up for the studio material. Rift (1993) is worth hearing in its entirety. Round Room (2002) and Sigma Oasis (2020) have some good jams. "What's the Use?" was spontaneously composed in the studio, and "Petrichor" is arguably best with full orchestration.
From "Rift" do Lengthwise>Maze. And the studio jam they do on "Everything's Right" is totally worth it. I'd also recommend something non-jam from the same album: "Shade" is a beautiful beautiful song. Nothing complex, just a wonderful song.
Please let a UVM grad suggest Run Like an Antelope, Split Open & Melt, Tela, ACDC Bag, and Esther from the 92-95 era. There's a bumper sticker: "Thank You, Trey." The way he takes us from discordant experimentation back to beauty.
Some fluffhead history, 2.0 era phish (2002-2004), Trey was an addict and are very clear signs of how messed up he was at the time. Fluff is OG phish song played since the 80s and revered by the community, however Trey was unable to play fluff during 2.0 because of how intricate it is, so it disappeared for a 2.5 years until the return in 3.0, with that history now watch the Hampton fluffhead. Enjoy your reviews, surrender to the flow!
You know the musical prowess of Phish... check out some of Henrietta's songs to see their not so serious side..I Didn't Know, Bike, Love You, or Sexual Healing to name a few.
I bet there are a ton of different versions of this song. Just like all of their songs I’m guessing lol maybe I will hit another one down the road. Thanks for watching bro!
@@draz0909 Agreed. I was lucky enough to catch both. At the time I thought that one was better but now I prefer the Hampton one personally. Fire tour overall.

Good luck in finding the bottom of the rabbit hole you just stepped into
This is what it’s all about
Finally. Now look up the “Mike says no,” discussion and then listen to the Hampton 2009 version. Makes me cry every time
I first heard this band here last month and I went down the rabbit hole. You are in for so much more excitment ❤❤
As other commenters have already mentioned.. thank you for making my Saturday so much better. I look forward to these every week!
I appreciate that. Thank you for hanging out.

Wow thank you so much man. You are too kind. Thanks for hanging out and going on this journey with me. They are my new favorite band! Easy!
They changed my life too and love seeing a new generation of people digging them.
I love Saturdays again! 1993 was a sick year for Phish!
93 was my favorite era. Trey is on another plane.
@@ROUGHSEES I only saw two shows that years-- Columbus OH in the spring and Cincy Zoo in the summer.
Glad to hear it my friend! They make my Friday nights and Saturday mornings so great since I get to listen to it a couple times 🫡🤪

It wasn't the opener it was Midway through the first set. They opened that show with Guyute.
@JBT42884 Correct, Guyute opener. My first show!
Oh snap, both?! Crazy that vote count!! Nice, see you in the morning.

I LOVE watching fools losing their shit to THE PHISH the same way I did. I'm reliving these experiences with you. I appreciate the journey man.
That was great
Insane! I don’t know how they keep doing it haha but I love it
Fun fact: this is the first run of shows from the first tour page started touring with the grand piano
These early shows were certainly one of a kind.
So far the mid 90s stuff have been my favorite era. They were lightning in a bottle that just kept…. Lightning😂😂
The early days were so wild and exciting, especially starting around 89. I know I feel beyond lucky to have been able to see this band from their college bar days to today. I don't take what we have for granted.
Man, you have been so patient to not have dipped into their recent live show recordings. Wait until you get yourself to a show!!
Bummed I missed the live stream. So glad you finally got Fluff'd!!
It’s all good brother! I know how it goes! Hope you enjoyed the video 🙏
Roxy 93 is legeendary.
LOVE that you've found the trance. It's the gift.
Glad to see you enjoying Phish so much!

The entire Roxy 93 is phenomenal. But especially that 2nd set
Someday he’ll do whole sets and truly understand the magic.

glad ur part of the pham
The vote is probably close because people like me who love both songs voted for each of them.
At 15:07 Fishman's fills made your head change dancing on rhythm, which made you say WHAT THE F--K. That was cool.

this album got me into phish. 93/94 Trey was the best guitarist in the world.
Pleasant collaboration👌🏼

Another good one is "You Enjoy Myself" ...

Studio Split Open and Melt, Limb By Limb, and My Friend My Friend are the bomb!
Definitely recommend those first over live versions.
