I actually witnessed this lady in the store last year and was shocked by how incredibly rude she was to her coworkers/employees, so my friends and I just left. She came off as a really cruel person. ... I'm not sure if I should go back and give it one more shot, I was pretty annoyed by her rudeness and I grew up in NJ!
VirgoCarnation She's nortiously difficult to work with. And very very snippy at customers, but the Haight is very touristy, and a lot of people are SO disrespectful to her items, vintage is fragile, and can tear easily, and she doesn't want her store used as a fashion shoot. That said, yeah..she's incredibly rude, she's NOT a warm person to anyone, but she knows her shit. If she had more competition she'd probably be nicer, but she's the only place like that in town. And so she's lucky as hell, because she gets all the calls to the gorgeous wardrobes in the city, so she thinks she can be rude as she wants. I'm a personal shopper/costume designer, and have spent thousands in stores like that, but she was SO nasty and rude every time I went there, that I've stopped going.
VirgoCarnation I kind of got that vibe from her in the video. Seemed like someone who would be rude. I can understand not wanting customers handling delicate items but there was something else besides that was emanating from her.
wow I guess that's rude - I grew up in NY & NJ and I thought we cornered the market on rudeness!!! LMFAO I know you're not being a drama queen if you compared her to TRISTATE area rudeness. LMFAO
I've worked with Cicely for a 20's fashion show before, and I absolutely adore her! She is incredibly knowledgeable, and being a history buff myself, her shop is definitely worth a visit!
This store was by far one of the best parts of going to Haight-Ashbury! I had such an amazing time with my parents looking through all of the amazing vintage finds!!
Ouch! I just went on Yelp to see what some of those reviews say. A lot of people don't like her. I would almost say she gets more bad reviews then good...
Before you go into this store, read the reviews on yelp. This woman is a nut. And she was on probation and had many hours of community service for selling furs made of endangered animals.
Scottie Hall I can see that 😂 and also I think real fur clothing was really popular back in the day so maybe that’s why she has them. They’re vintage after all..
As a store owner myself, I must say a lot of people don't know how to behave, especially with children. Not every store is wallmart...until you buy it, it's not yours..... and treat people and things that don't belong to you with respect.
Pete Burns had an infamous coat made of Gorilla that was taken into custody but if it’s vintage I don’t see the problem. They didn’t kill the animal themselves and it’s already dead.. these things are respected. I wonder why she’d get probation for that if she didn’t commit the crime.
One day as things are going, we will all be condemned if meat has ever passed our lips, or chicken or fish or eggs, cheese butter or ice cream and wearers of leather coats, shoes, handbags, and belts will be stoned in the town square...every Sat am! And entire breeds of cattle will disappear from the Earth into extinction bec who is going to feed them as pets? That is what happened to many breeds of workhorses...it will happen to cattle too, they will only be stuffed in natural history museums as artifacts of the past.
Waaaah, she's wearing one of my grandmothers HATS! As a little girl in the 50's I was allowed to try on every Sat am my grandmothers hat ,shoe, glove, and fur collection. ALSO her jewelry. She was amazing. I was a 60's flower child but I inherited her jewelry. All that trying on girly girly things really kicked in in retirement...now I love clothes again after having to be practical before retirement. I love to accessorize as my grandmother did etc. etc. What a wonderful place to see clothes!
One of the best Mode videos ever! I only wish this was longer. Two other wishes: spending hours in her store and having her show me all her favorite pieces. Cicely--do you ever have fashion shows highlighting these beautiful clothes?
so glad to see someone keeping this up in my Home Town. I used to work at "A Stitch In Time" on Haight St. A very small Store connected w an Antiqued Store. I also made clothing for Boutiques & my XL friends that couldn't find "groovey" clothes in they're size. Now I'm doing it again--all the special clothes from the '60s/'70s--Doily blouses, Hanky Skirts, Scarf Dresses, added vintage material of lace to denim etc. I own FLASHBACK in Eureka, CA. I'll check out your etsy site. Mine is izorasflashback. Love Izora
This is Fabulous! I truly respect this woman! She knows, loves, and shares the beauty of vintage! The modern fashion world is all about the moment, what the current trend is. But, this is so different. Vintage clothing is so unique, beautiful, and timeless! These garments stood the test of time. No, you may not see those pieces in current fashion magazines, but you have to admit they are just as beautiful, if not more.
This woman is incredible, and her collection is incredible. Better than New York, and I never say that. But shes really got it,and she loves it,and she looks good in it. Its a passion.
When I visit San Francisco, I always go to this store and I've spoken with Cicely every time; she is a wonderful wonderful lady and SO interesting! I just love her!! And the store...swoon!!!!!!
i love this store. I've lived on Haight Street in the 1970's. Irish Linen dresses in all the sherbet colors, all the amazing clothes. I still have lots because they are made so well and the fabric is outstanding.
I knew where this was immediately. One of my favorite shops in San Francisco, I go in here every time I visit. It’s like a museum, so many beautiful finds.
I’d have a ball shopping at this vintage store! The vintage stores where I live only sell clothes from 1960’s onwards, which is disappointing for me since I like 1940’s fashion. I LOVE LOVE LOVE how this shop is organised by decade- such a good idea for people who like styles of clothing reminiscent of specific eras!
You are AWESOME!!!! I love vintage style and the way the women just looked so classy. I have a few vintage pieces in my closet and I cherish them so much more than the typical designer clothing that I have. Kudos to you for having creativity!
People on here are so negative, but I love this store and have been a million times. The store owner is admittedly a bit snappy, but if you really love vintage she will definitely be accommodating. She showed us the back room and we bought some gorgeous dresses. Just remember this is not a thrift store, it’s a vintage store full of fine goods.
Wow so happy to find this vid! Not too far from SF and your shop is a must see next time I am in the City! Cicely you are absolutely Wonderful Gorgeous and Happiness!
lol I clicked on this video and realized I have been here, one of the few places I went to in San Francisco. Weird vibes in that store, awesome to look through though. Also I recommend looking at the yelp reviews for this place, they are pretty entertaining.
Since you call yourself a goth I belive you only wear dark and black clothes. Goth or not, if you are lover of vintage clothing you would NEVER be be running round in pure black cloths in the first place! Yes, I agree 100% vintage cloths are INCREDIBLE, but if you have any understanding for them you wouldn´t be run around in the outfits you guys wear. In those decades clothing was supposed to be elegant, classy and feminine, not dark and sober. Stop confusing people, GOTHIC clothes and VINTAGE clothes are two COMPLETALY different things. You guys know NOTHING of vintage clothing, and neither do the 24 people who liked your comment either!
Anna Rosie, I'm the long term owner of a special occasion vintagewear shop. In my experience, all-black outfits are a timeless classic & can evoke surprisingly different looks, not just goth or mourning: sophisticated evening, sexy, artistic, etc. (see 0:07-20 & 4:22-39)--I've even dressed brides/wedding attendees in cocktail black... the interest comes from the varied silouettes, tailoring, fabrics & textures, embellishments & accessories; a monotone palette of whatever shade actually brings out these other dimensions as well as the wearer herself more. It's especially interesting to mix periods incl. contemporary w/in one tone or color family. Loose your corset strings a bit & have fun experimenting with one of fashion's most versatile shades sometime!
I went in that store when I was visiting San Francisco and when I was watching this video I kept thinking that it looks really similar, when actually I realized it's the same^^ Really loved it in there, the atmosphere is so nice and the clothing looks just so great.
I love the 1940s style it was beautiful. I also would love to have a roaring twenties party at my house with authentic 1920s clothing and this place would be great to get it from.
I’ve actually been to this store and it was just a lot of bad energy. I get that you can’t touch some stuff (that’s fine) but I felt like I was being watched. It’s hard to enjoy something when you feel like your going to get yelled at.
Zoë Jones she is so passionate about what she does and she probably feels the energy when someone does not show the same amount of respect for these clothes.
She has a bad energy, and there is something insanely OFF about this women. I saw the video before I read YELP, And it confirmed my gut instinct about this women. Soooooo many bad reviews about awful customer service. I'm going to pass going to this store, what's the point of being in business if the owner is not a "people person?" Lots of other places to go where people are kind. HARD PASS!
I think it’s because of all that vintage. Dead peoples clothes drag in unwanted energies cause who knows what the owners of these clothes did or how they died.
my gosh I wanna go in her shop
Lets go !
Yes!
i've been, and it's so lovely! unfortunately, it's very pricy. but just being in the store is quite an enjoyable experience
Exactly!
Alicia Vintage Let’s go to her shop! Yayyy!
10 seconds in i wish she adopted me
omg do I see Trixie mattel
Tracita Matteo saaame
relatable
you and me both
Haha, same. I love vintage clothes, but it's sooo expensive, I'm also plus size so most don't fit me. :(
"To me nothing is sexier than class"
What a funny comment that was: nobody from England would EVER say something that dopey and weird.
I loved when she said "Nothing is sexier than class" because I totally agree 😂
we all know it's true
I actually witnessed this lady in the store last year and was shocked by how incredibly rude she was to her coworkers/employees, so my friends and I just left. amazingabby25 geez! that's so frustrating.
VirgoCarnation I kind of got that vibe from her in the video. Seemed like someone who would be rude. I can understand not wanting customers handling delicate items but there was something else besides that was emanating from her.
Read all the yelp reviews, you'll find out what the stench emanating from her was.
wow I guess that's rude - I grew up in NY & NJ and I thought we cornered the market on rudeness!!!
Based off the comments & her personality it looks like she just has a closet on display rather than it being a antique clothing store...
This store was by far one of the best parts of going to Haight-Ashbury! I had such an amazing time with my parents looking through all of the amazing vintage finds!!
I wish I lived near San Fransisco so I could go there!! It's my dream store. :)
She's not very nice.
Read the reviews!!!
Ouch! I just went on Yelp to see what some of those reviews say. A lot of people don't like her. I would almost say she gets more bad reviews then good...
omg what a lovely enthusiastic woman! i love her outfit and attitude. wish i lived closer
Nothing is sexier than class.
PREACH IT Miss Cicely!
Couldn't agree more! How lovely
She is great, I love characters like her!
Vocal fry is excruciating on the ears. The rest is just lovely! Great work she is doing!
What a unique lady. I love vintage boutiques and it would be so nice to visit hers.
Are you black too? I haven't met many black people who wear vintage too. That is awesome! Thumbs up to you.
Melodie Monroe I love everything about this exchange it made me smile 💕
Her store's yelp reviews are a treat. Get out the popcorn
Before you go into this store, read the reviews on yelp. This woman is a nut. And she was on probation and had many hours of community service for selling furs made of endangered animals.

2:35 you clearly didnt watch the video.

She's the aunt everybody needs. You go lady !
wow I need to work there
If you could get free clothes, I'd quit my current career and work there in a heartbeat.
I just want to go there
look at their yelp though. You might change your mind.
OMG I love her! I love the 30s, 40s, & 50s
Love it and I love the turn fashion is taking now in 2016. More romantic and vintage oriented
Life goals
I can't believe this is a real store. Cicely embodies everything that I LOVE about fashion and history. I must visit this
"I get Yelped a lot " I love her attitude she is a professional and has a passion people need to respect that .

I wish that fashion will come back! Nothing more beautiful than being classiest. I would fall in love with everything in that store.
Absolutely lovely to listen to a lady who speaks of vintage clothing with so much passion. Simply wonderful ❤

This lady is off the hook fantastic
Ive been here! Its amazing, I could spend hours and hours in that store
Is it expensive ??
+Sarah Jane Brock yeah, is it expensive? it probably is :(
+Lauren Thoonen it is on the higher end- but understandably so.
I knew where this was immediately. One of my favorite shops in San Francisco, I go in here every time I visit. It’s like a museum, so many beautiful finds.
Whoa...the Google reviews. I'm glad there are other of vintage and pop up shops. I remember shopping at this location when it was the Diesel store.
I lover her personally made 1920s inspired dresses especially the wedding dress. Oh my gosh its gorgeous.
Love the clothes from the 50s, so flattering, couldn't go wrong with them no matter what size or shape your body is in.
Decades of fashion in San Francisco is AWESOME! The owner Cicely is a star!
I get so excited when I see 1950s clothing
Ah I've been there before like 3 or 4 years ago, love that vintage shop.
20's and 40's are my favourite eras for fashion. I'd love to go by this shop sometimes.
OMG! This is totally my dream store!!! I'm with you Cicely!!! Keep on going! Kisses from Portugal!
Omg i love her we definitly need more people like her!!!
I’m a nut for vintage military shit, especially British and American from around WW2
I love people who have individual style, especially when we live in a world of sheeple. Power to people like her
Her own collection of 1920s dresses is amazing!
I feel her! People always keep janking items out of the window displays which I just tidied up nicely. It's annoying. Loved her ensemble btw
That's classic, but absolutely CLASSY and BEAUTIFUL!!!
I love her! She’s sassy and confident ❤️
You are AWESOME!!!! I love vintage style and the way the women just looked so classy. I have a few vintage pieces in my closet and I cherish them so much more than the typical designer clothing that I have. Kudos to you for having creativity!
She reminds me of Cruella De Ville but lovely vintage clothing nonetheless, lol.
she is someone I could get along fabulously with. love her class!
Oh my god I would lose my shit in this store. I absolutely adore vintage clothing, the 20's are by far my favorite decade.
Ahhhhh, I've been there. Haight Ashbury. I love this place and I love taking people there when they visit me in Sam Francisco.
I think if I went in there I would cry, it’s so beautiful!
I'm drooling at all the 20s clothing I love that era so much
This is a very passionate woman! What a wonderful store too.
Your Store is My Kinda Store!! That Era Was so Classy 👗
I so love these wonderful vintage pieces. Someday, I will visit the area just to come to this store.
This woman is AMAZING!! Such a wonderful personality lover her! I need a trip to San Fran now!
I love seeing someone so passionate about something!!!!

I want to go just off of Cicely's energy🤗 Love all that makes this store many blessings
Amazing ! Absolutely love this. I gatta visit the shop once I visit Cali 😍
lol I clicked on this video and realized I have been here, one of the few places I went to in San Francisco. Weird vibes in that store, awesome to look through though. Also I recommend looking at the yelp reviews for this place, they are pretty entertaining.
Can we bring some of this style back because I’m living for these outfits!!!
She's inspiring and amazing! I fell in love with her spirit and professionalism.
What a positive and powerful woman!!
I just admire and appreciate your style.👌
I'm in love with the 50s clothes
The best job EVER!!! and she looks amazing!
OMG, I love this... I can spend all day long in a store like this
I could seriously spend the rest of my life in that store just appreciating all the beauty that these clothes are.
She has it separated by era.. Bless her.. Bless her
I need a paper bag to breathe into, after seeing this ah mazing collection! fabulous. thankyou xx
"I have a real clothes on", I totally agree! Amazing lady!!
I'm goth and I hate when people are like:
-Oh you are wearing a costume
-You look like a clown
Stfu I am beautiful :`)
Vintage clothing is amazing :D
Joy Strickland do u buy vintage clothes

Anna Rosie you've obviously never heard of gothabilly.
Psychobilly/Gothabilly could be an option
Cicely is so beautiful and I want her gorgeous haircolor.
I love this store! Always go here when I’m in SF.
I went in that store when I was visiting San Francisco and when I was watching this video I kept thinking that it looks really similar, when actually I realized it's the same^^

D Ishappywithlife I got that bad energy vibe from her too
And not to mention that she uses fur from endangered species in her cloth line.
I don't think I could stand listening to that guttural shaky voice. It's like every word is an effort. She stresses me out.
I think it’s because of all that vintage. Dead peoples clothes drag in unwanted energies cause who knows what the owners of these clothes did or how they died.
Power House true
I love how fun she is!
i have always love everything in the 1900s. ❤️ she’s amazing
My happy place, I love the stories around each piece ❤️❤️❤️
I absolutely love this! Next time I'm in San Francisco I know where I'm going!
I love people who do what they love 💖
I LOVE HER she's so funny
I went to her store and met her a few days ago! She was a gorgeous woman and we bought a beautiful 1920s dress!
This is one of my favourite videos
