I'm learning the PS5. I got pretty good on the PS4s and I was a late arrival repairing those. I'm working hard to understand the PS5. Thanks for stopping by!
Changing an HDMI Port is boring to watch, but I am still sweating when doing it 😆 Anyway, today I changed my first southbridge 🥳UART shows no errors after clearing and restarting multiple times (except for Unexpected Power Loss or Shutdown Failure) and am stuck with a white light, which landed me on this video. I had bookmarked it from before as it has the very useful diode readings of the HDMI port. This channel is one of the best resources on console repairs. Will report back if I have any success.
@johnnydebt23998: Excuse my intrusion. Completely agree. I remember when Mr. Toltecmerc went on vacation for two weeks and I saw the notification bell every day... fortunately now he is rewarding us and I am also happy about that. All the best.
Well done! What a simple and cheap fix! Your patience with those tiny components amazes me. My hands shake so much I can’t keep things like that in place long enough to solder! 😂
My guess is the LAN resistors has been changed and also they've been probably saying that they've changed the HDMI port and flux here and there around it just so they can charge the customer something.
It had definitely been worked on. It would be nice to know the full back story but often the seller is not the original owner. Quite often it's a pawn shop where the owner unloaded the dead console.
I couldn't resist: when I finally saw you replace the Zener I looked down at the duration of the video...lol, I could guess (intuit) the result. Excellent work. I loved that it was just that component. Thank you very much for sharing. All the best.
True, it was a rather simple repair. I just wanted to show how a single zener could bring down the system and whoever had worked on it before was so close to fixing it.
I was pointing and saying "there it is". Sorry, I wasn't loud enough. I don't understand why people leave flux all over the board. It's sloppy. Great Video and Repair! Thank You for the continuing Education. 🙂
I just did a PS five that was hit by lightning took out the encoder and the ethernet port and all the filter caps. Good to know a PS4 slim ethernet port will work just fine as a replacement. 😂
@@ToltecMerc I should clarify that the poor damage was not from lightning itself, but rather from abuse. In fact, every port on the back of the unit besides the power plug had to be replaced. 👀
Wow I think I could have done a better job on that HDMI port that you showed a picture of at the start of the video and I am new to fixing electronics. I treated myself the other day and got the same power supply as you well mine is the cheaper XE version so not quite the same. I also got mysefl a red mat similar to yours in the hope that the colour red would bring me just a fraction of your skills, has not worked yet though. 😁 I was shouting at the screen saying there is your Zener. Another saved from landfill, you know that you have skills when you are able to fix things when others previously have tried and failed.
Good day I'm looking for information on the capacitors around the HDMI chip and a missing 5 pin chip bought ps5 last week seller said you break i fix worked on it but still not working but was worst when i looked inside, any help will be appreciated.
I do concentrate on PS5 now because I am trying to make money when I resell. I can't seem to give away PS4. I do have quite a few PS4 left to work on out in the garage and I will do videos if people are interested.
You are the fastest ps5 diagnostic engineer I watch.

I like Watching hdmi swaps 😢 joey does them very nicely, satisfying to watch
I'm sorry but HDMI swaps just seem lame. Everyone does them. I prefer to show repairs that require more than two brain cells.
Thank you 😊❤
First! What a treat, 2 videos from you in short span. Thanks for the videos, so informative!
Glad you like them!

I'm very fortunate at my age to still have very good near vision and stable hands. Thanks for the visit!
Simple and rewarding!
Thank you! I will take simple when I can get it.
Been a while since I seen hand-to-hand combat with a Zener, but glad you were the victor! Nice repair as always.
Thanks! They blow away so easily.

You are welcome!
Hate soldering those tiny things 😅 good job! Thanks for the video
I use to think it was impossible but now it's just mildly frustrating.
Great repair bud 👍
Thanks Joey!
very good job
Thank you! That's very kind of you!
Another nice job, tiny zener diode!
It is a small one. Sometimes I squeeze too hard with the tweezers and they take flight!
13:40 bro they are all parallel . This 75 is the total resistance between 2 lines🌹🙏
They are not in parallel. They are connected at one end. There are four 75ohm resistors connected to a capacitor to ground. It is an AC termination.
@@ToltecMerc oh your right!
Sorry bro
My mistake❤️

I haven't had to replace an ethernet port on a PS5 yet.

A straight fix.
Yep. Very straightforward.
Interesting and enjoyable.
Thank you! And thanks for watching and commenting!
Nice fix. Thanks
You are very welcome!
Top fix, great job!
Thanks! 👍

Thanks! That's very kind of you. That X-E version is just fine. It should serve you well. Best of luck to you in all your repairs.
Nice Job. Did I have see a Tesla Model 3 in the Monitor? 😅
You did indeed!
@@ToltecMerc nice 👍🏼 I have a black one
Love it
The best as usual
Thanks! That's very kind.
what could be wrong if my zener is good but still it show a short in the 5.6V where the zener goes? where that line it goes.
Nice job once again. Where did you get that hdmi test board?
Thank You!! www.adafruit.com/product/3119
@@ToltecMerc Thanks, got myself a couple.
Good job mate 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
What bench power supply do you use ?
Siglent SPD3303X
love your video
Thanks so much! It makes me happy that people enjoy them. I try to make videos that I would want to watch.
Good work, think your videos are educational
Thanks! I'm glad you find them educational!

Waiting for you to change your name to PS5 Wizard or something, you have to have the most experience with PS5 repair out there…
I get lucky sometimes, well maybe a lot of times. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Another roach free great repair!
Very true. I haven't seen a roached out console in quite a while. I'm probably due!
I tried to tell you where that Zener was, but would you hear me? Noooooooooooooo!
I know. I never listen. But thanks!
Nice and easy for once.
Yes. I will take an easy one every now and again. They seem rare here lately.
I see you're repairing so much PS5 now. I guess you're done with ps4 repairs ahah
