Wow how things have changed. In 2005 I was visiting San Francisco. I was at Union Square and wondered into the Shreve Company with my wife. We each bought a Rolex on the spot. Me a GMT master ii and she a Datejust. And we were just two normal people and the sales person was awesome.
How recent a phenomenon is the “wait list” and the games they play? I have purchased 5 Rolex’s in my life; 4 for me, and 1 for my wife. The last one was purchased in 2015. In all 5 cases, I walked in the AD, saw the model I was looking for, and purchased it on the spot. Five watches from 4 different ADs in three states. I didn’t even realize this was a thing until this past month when I tried to purchase an Explorer 124270, to replace my Explorer 14270 that I was giving to my son. Of course, my last one was purchased 9 years ago, so I guess times have changed. I did drop off my Explorer 14270 for servicing, and the salesperson said that when I come back in to pick up my serviced watch, that they “should have one in stock.”
You opened my eyes, man. I've always dreamed of owning a Rolex, but never figured out how to snag one without getting caught up with resellers or dropping a ton of cash.
Wow that's awesome video These are very good tips for buying a Rolex watch. I found the topic presented here very useful and helpful. Thanks for posting this kind of content.❤❤❤
Love the insight at 6:22. Buy lots of really expensive stuff at the AD that you don't really want, in order to MAYBE get the privilege to spend $10k-$20k on the item that you actually do want to buy.

Also bringing food etc.. helps, volunteer to sweep the floors after hours increases chances quite a bit. My cousin did floors for 6 months on Friday’s and he was offered the opportunity to buy a Submariner.

The strategy of referring potential buyers would earn one increase their chances and earn some extra point when it comes to getting a better chance to buying a Rolex watch
I’ve bought 2 DJ41 and 1 Tudor gmt from my local AD, asked about my chance of getting a Kermit or a Wimbledon, they ain’t come through what so ever, I payed over list for my sub date but ain’t prepared to do that again, I was offered a sky dweller oyster flex and a yachtmaster 40 the other day i declined because I don’t like either, the watch game is BS and all about backhanders and ass licking the AD in my humble opinion
U know what though, we can use ADs as a good gauge of which watches are trash, just go in to one as a first time buyer and see what junk they throw at u then u know those are a no go. I went to an AD recently and they tried to sell me a black dial bi metal sub and the bluesy, I used to like the bluesy but their eagerness to shift it put me off it completely
Indeed, it's an amazing video. Your content is always researched. Rolex is a fabulous brand. Authorised dealers always had authentic products. We should buy from authorised dealers.
This is a quite important video since we will know some key points to buy watches from authorized distributors, this will not help to avoid many mistakes when purchasing these prestigious watches.
This is exactly why flippers make money tho. They restrict the supply and somehow the flippers are the ones that end up snagging multiple orders. I would just want to purchase from resellers or preowned if I went into Rolex and it was that difficult to just purchase one.
Got to asked this question. I walked into authorized dealer that was Rolex. Spoke to one of the sales people was interested in two models. Air king and anniversary edition perpetual. Just purchased a new car. And my authorized Rolex dealer had called me saying there was a air king in stock and if I was interested. Had to pass on it felt bad. what do you think if I go back in and speak to the authorized dealer do I have to explain to him what happened.
Went to a Rolex dealer today its exactly like this video. First they show u the show case watches, then tell you they have no stock and 12 months waiting, then proceed to see which one you can actually afford. I hate games, I got money I can afford a goddamn Rolex anytime why play these stupid games. It's a turn off.
Valuable insider knowledge for purchasing your dream Rolex from an authorized dealer! Gain valuable tips and insights to ensure a smooth and rewarding buying experience, making your Rolex acquisition truly unforgettable.
Great tips! Buying from an authorized dealer ensures authenticity and peace of mind. Understanding the market and negotiating skillfully are key when investing in a luxury timepiece like a Rolex.
If I want to buy a watch, or anything else and sell it soon aftrewards I have every right to do so, no retailer can dictate what I do with a product after I buy it. It is then my property, not theirs. I have 3 Rolex' and Will NEVER buy another one.
Buying a Rolex is a terrible experience. Many people are forced to buy in the grey market or a used Rolex because OG AD games. I love the watch, but hate the brand.
Be cool, be genuine and swallow the lies and common sales tactics that are so despised in this branch by many customers. Buy a couple of watches you don't want and be kind of forced to resell them at a considerate loss, although this may be regarded as flipping them, so be careful. Get used to being held on a string since you will never get any solid confirmation whether your next superfluous forced buy will earn you the rights to buy the watch you actually want. But then again, it is all about experiencing the marketing theatrics. If you let the snobbery soak in, you might learn to enjoy it.. if you finally will get lucky and ignore that the feeling of getting lucky is psychologically instilled in you by the very marketing strategy you subjected yourself to. Feel that buying a Rolex is not for everyone.
Ignore this bs, go into an AD and don’t take the jobs worth sales peoples shit. Call them out on there crap, don’t leave any personal details, stand your ground, avoid major city ADs, go to towns with ADs, london etc, there wannabe sale staff who think there shit doesn’t stink,
Often they serious Grey market dealer have a lot more passion and knowlege thant ADs are! And there is nothing wrong making money! Often AD are arrogante and dosent give you a good treatment i get beter treatment when i go to like a supermarket elektronik store to buy a Tv or a phone!! And it is the biggest myth in the watch world is that Rolex has a big vault of watches! No brands does that! The truth is that Rolex dosent have a nogth watchmaker, do to quarts crises there is a lack of educated high end watchmskers! A lot is them are old and are retireing and passing away! And you have all these luxery brand ho needs them... And every watch is built by hand so unlike other products they cant just starting makinging more watches. So the big brands like Rolex AP and Patek cant meet the demmand on there popular models!! So it i BS they are holding back watches!!! They cant meet the demand. Simple as that

how often do shipments come in at AD locations?
Sleek design, impeccable craftsmanship. Rolex exudes luxury and sophistication, a timeless symbol of status.
Are you profiled based on career? I’m upper middle class in a blue collar field would this effect my odds?
Rolex is not really for wealthy high net worth people. It is for people who want to look rich but really aren't.

I would.
This cannot be true. Competition in the luxury market will never allow it. There are just too many alternatives

What’s a AD
Authorized dealer
Kinda hard to believe they dissuade flippers when pretty much the only people with multiple Rolexes are flippers
Nah. I’m a real collector, who gets from AD. I’ve gotten 7 from the AD, and my two meteorites from gray market. Don’t speak if you don’t know.
Collectors and speculators have created their own rolex hell, that's how speculative bubbles are made! Wake up!
Think I’d be better off paying a grey market mark up than buying extra jewelry I don’t want.
Great tips! Buying from an authorized dealer ensures authenticity and peace of mind. Understanding the market and negotiating skillfully are key when investing in a luxury timepiece like a Rolex.
getting Rolex watch from authorised dealer is the best way to purchase a legit Rolex. but most of these dealers also had their bad side
If women have Hermes game, the men have Rolex game 😅
The flippers are still getting the watches. Does not matter what Rolex does.
If I want to buy a watch, or anything else and sell it soon aftrewards I have every right to do so, no retailer can dictate what I do with a product after I buy it. It is then my property, not theirs. I have 3 Rolex' and Will NEVER buy another one.
This overly-deep artificial voice detracted from an excellent video.
Buying a Rolex is a terrible experience. Many people are forced to buy in the grey market or a used Rolex because OG AD games. I love the watch, but hate the brand.
The Watch market is dead. Dealers are begging you to buy.
Lotta bot responses here
