Of course all of the ADs I talked to promised to contact me when the watch I want is available. Well, they never did after many months. I didn’t call them either. laod of malarky, you don't need to sell yourself to buy a watch, you go in and ask, if you get offered one that's all good, but don't play into the Rolex AD games! YOU DONT NEED TO SELL YOURSELF
This is absolutely ridiculous. Put on an audition for a chance to buy a $20,000 staineless steel watch? Allow a Rolex dealer to run a background check before considering you as a potential customer?
A sale is a sale, no matter who it is sold to. I'm not going to beg someone to take my money. If an AD won't sell me a watch then I'll just go with another brand. I don't have to have a Rolex. If I do then I'll go to the secondhand market.
Maybe you're the one full of crap, flying the flag of a nation that actively support genocide in Gaza. It's disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourself.
I personally find Rolex's ugly and if I ever wanted one I can easily afford to pay a premium to a reseller no problem. I would never want to beg some one for a piece of metal. This is why I love Omega watches, I have always had absolute pleasure in dealing with them over the years and they make much more beautiful and pleasing watches.
Most of what he says is true in my experience. I've been with my AD for 2 years and just got my second Rolex from them, both watches I genuinely wanted. On my first visit they asked what I do for a living and noticed that I was wearing a nice watch (an old Omega Seamaster). They asked if I had a wife and whether she liked watches as well. They took my ID so they know where I live. I don't dress up when I visit but don't look like a tramp (jeans and a shirt is fine). IMO the most important things are to be genuinely interested in the watches (rather than their value) and to be friendly and relaxed. Talk about other things as well as watches. Common courtesy/politeness is enough. I genuinely enjoy my visits and get on really well with the Rolex Manager.
Now there's a social circle I'm glad to not be a part of. If in-fact, this drivel is true, it cements my beliefs that fools with money and shysters deserve each-other.
So what! Nice watches but nothing is worth prostituting one's self to corporatism? I have too much self respect and life experience for that carry-on. 😅
And the funny part is that the customers who are expected to jump through these hoops are SIGNIFICANTLY more wealthy than any of the Reps that are deciding who is 'permitted' to buy one of THEIR watches! lol It's like a 'high class' power struggle, where the 'Six Figure' Sales people get a chance to fuck with the 'Seven Figure' clientele.
So basically, you have to do the opposita as that scene in "Pretty Woman" movie. You have to suck up to the dealer instead of being the opposite. This world is getting worse and worse...
Utter nonsense. Plumbers and Retail staff get offered Rolex's IME People coming up with stories are so transparent. Even if the story is true they can sound made up lol.
Go ahead and be a simp for a brand. I stopped buying Rolexes when they started shorting the supply deliberately. When I go to the store, I don't dress up. I live so close to the store that it is pretentious to even dress up. I just show up with my normal clothes and they wont sell me anymore.
It's pretty bad. I was just checking Google reviews of some ADs in my area to see which one to visit. I noticed people leaving very positive reviews about their customer service experience even though they didn't buy a single Rolex watch.

Say you finally get the call and they get you your first entry level rolex (stainless datejust 41). How long should you wait before you ask for a little higher tier watch (sub date stainless) ?
So my first watch from my local AD was a 36mm two tone datejust with jubilee strap, fluted bezel, diamond set indices on a champagne dial. At the time I had maybe a 3k spend. One year later I was offered and picked up the two tone GMT GRNR. During the one year time frame I had also purchased a black bay 54. Based on my purchase history I could probably request a Batman, Batgirl or Pepsi next without any issues.
Sod Begging an AD shop worker who earns a nice living I'm sure, but has no idea who I am or what I earn or what I do. In the last year I have bought a blue steel skydweller on jubilee for myself, a blue 41mm OP for one of my boys and a black 41mm OP for my other boy. I had a more pleasureable experience buying those on the grey market then from an AD (who I have been to and make me feel like I'm unworthy of their time) - Their loss not mine.
Don't forget the AD not selling you a watch because he's selling it out the back door into the gray market and getting a kickback. Don't tell me it isn't happening.
I don't know if the luxury watches market work like that, but If rolex would sell more watches, it wouldn't reduce the grey market? Grey market would exist anyway, but the sense of "exclusivity" is useless if you can buy the same model innthe grey market...
its gonna come to a head and crash at some point. Rolex makes 1.2M watches a year, making up something like 1/3 of the revenue of all swiss watches sold - those watches are getting sold somewhere. at this point I think grey dealers are sitting on way too much inventory at way too high prices but they are so over leveraged they cant afford a 10% loss on 75% of their inventory. Its gonna come hard when things just stop moving and a lot of grey dealers are gonna lose their shirts.
Just got a Yacht Master 40mm blue dial this week from AD. Was only a 4 week wait. He did say the sprite would take a little longer to get. But he definitely would get it. Zero purchase history but I did go wearing my 42mm Yacht Master white gold on oyster flex. I did let him know I think the Sub and Daytona look like crap. Zero interest in either of those. Also don’t like the Explorer 2. But I do like the sky dweller a lot.
I went into my local AD recently just to browse. I had on a brand new Breitling Navi B01 and mentioned I bought a DJ 41 from them a few years earlier. I was offered a white gold SkyDweller, a Bluesy, and a steel Deepsea on the spot. Almost pulled the trigger on the Deepsea. Maybe they are finally starting to lighten up?
I'd find it easy to buy a Rolex from an AD. The reason for this is I have very narrow tastes in watches. I don't like diver's watches or anything with an engraved or rotating bezel, GMTs, chronographs, anything two tone or made of precious metals and don't like bling - pretty much every Rolex that re-sells at a premium is a watch I have no interest in and wouldn't ever wear.. . It makes it easy because the only Rolex watches I'd consider wearing are the Air King and the Oyster in plain SS and the ADs know I won't be handing it to a flipper because there's no money to be made in reselling either model. There isn't a waiting list for them either, because the ADs can't make extra profit selling them through the back door so there is no artificial shortage, I'm still looking at watches and may decide on Air King, but if an AD tries any 'are you a suitable customer for Rolex' or suggests I register on a waiting list I'll burst out laughing and walk out.
U forgot to mention the undertable ‘incentives’ the sales ppl in AD are getting for supplying to the grey market. For some watch enthusiasts like me, it has come to a point to say Fxxx Rolex, I don’t need to purchase one with so much hassle. Let’s move up higher to a JLC or equivalent.
My family we stay humble and happy with what we are blessed with in life. Yes I love the video and makes perfect sense plus keeps you under the radar for one’s wealth is a personal mental state.
I went into Watches of Switzerland in London, told them my name is Doctor Phil Reid, showed them the FaceBook profile you used at another AD a couple of years ago, and they sold me a Panda Daytona! Phil you are a genius for conning these ADs!
How to buy a Panda Daytona today! Here is a hack for you guys. Walk into any AD, ask to see an exhibition model Daytona and then "accidently" drop it. Make sure the sapphire crystal is broken. They will make you pay for it at retail price for breaking the Daytona. You got yourself a Daytona! send it for a full service and it'll come back brand new.
A world coming out of a pandemic..supply will be short. It's the Grey market that has their concern..why sell a watch to someone who will flip it? And for those who really want a rolex, the stores will always be there.
The look on the face of a watch dealer is priceless, when you pay for your Rolex in full on a basic credit card and it goes through. (Yes, you can boost up your credit limit by depositing funds to the credit card beforehand.)
Is that unusual? My MasterCard limit was just automatically increased incrementally to $25K over the years, and I never actually requested an increase. I figured it was just because I used the card fairly often, but never carried a balance, so they were probably hoping I'd eventually 'splurge' on something that I'd have to start paying interest on... I eventually had to request that they STOP automatically increasing the limit, because 'Credit Checks' actually consider your Income v.s. the POTENTIAL DEBT that you could accrue... So for instance, having a $50K limit can actually be 'detrimental', because it means that at any time you could immediately rack up $50K in debt and not pay it back. Debt is just crazy when you look into it. It's actually just a COMMODITY, that companies buy and sell just like any other 'investment'! lol Like if you were a 'debt collecting' business, you could probably actually 'purchase' your own debt for significantly less than the 'value'! Because these companies will 'BUY' your debt for 50% of the total amount, and then try to collect the full 100% from you to make their profit! Bring back the GOLD STANDARD!!! lol
Bro, if they bring the watch over and the transaction goes through they get their money right away. What do they care how much you earn or what you look like lol. They want to milk more business out of you, simple. So if you’re a big spender, they’ll sell to you. I went to get a JLC and asked for a discount, the sales rep said “we cant give you a discount but we’ll sell you a rolex if you buy the JLC” . I was like “I need one watch” and wished them a nice day

The logic here does not add up. Why do you have to prove to them that you’ll be a repeat customer when they’ve got people in the tens of thousands waiting for one of their watches. The demand is there and should be sold to the next man up. If their goal is to fabricate supply/demand by selling to flippers and repeat customers, they’re going to lose market share. The reality here is that they are a watch brand that acts like a high end club and only wants specific type of people to wear their product. If that’s the case, then just shut down all your boutiques and stop wasting millions on advertising to the masses. You clearly already have your demographic you want to sell to. Don’t waste everyone else’s time.

so you're telling me to apply for a stupid rolex watch? where have we ended up, please? anyone who jumps through such hoops has lost control of their life. They can kiss my ass for the money I carry there
I live in Geneva and bought Rolexes at both at Bucherer and the Rolex store and the airport stores in ZH and GVA. What is the most important for the steel sports is to be a local resident, and to be genuinely interested and not a flipper, and to be patient and call every few months. A purchase history helps for rare watches like the Pepsi I guess. I got a SD 43 for my 50th, they took note of the date and called me 2 days before ❤… (that was the Rolex store, I waited two years, I had bought a Datejust there). And I signed up for the Darth Vader ceramic Daytona two days after release at Baselworld and got the call a year later although I had no purchase history (I passed 😅). I got a Sub no date from the ZH airport simply by being patient and calling every six months (I waited three years, no purchase history). Again, only locals can buy steel sports and Daytonas, tourists can buy anything else.
Also you don't have to be rich but it helps to show that you already have a nice watch as a sign you are not a flipper. Omega Seamaster or JLC or whatever, wear it. They look, they told me. If you have nothing on your wrist, or a digital watch, its a red flag.
That depends. For example, a majority of people in the top 5% of earners are married with at least one child. Read Charles Murray’s ‘Coming Apart.’ If you’re comparing a 27-year-old waitress with no kids to another 27-year-old waitress with one kid, then of course the former has more disposable income than the latter. But that’s not who Rolex is targeting.
Yeah these seven reason do apply to some buyers but there is only one reason why the ADs won't sell you a new high sought after watch. The ADs (not all but most) are the GMDs themselves.
I dress like crap when I go to the Rolex store. I don't care if they judge. I have been on their waiting list for a while. I just took 3 to get serviced by them. Fuck them if they don't want to sell me a watch. I walked over and bought a Brietling. 😂
F’*k the AD. I put my name down for a Datejust and a Submariner and waited for a year and a half or so and I never got a call even for a basic Datejust. So I went and treated myself to a GMT Master and a Submariner from the grey market. Yes, I paid a bit extra but I would rather do so than to beg some dufus salesperson who seem to think that they’re the next best thing since sliced bread. They don’t get far in life beyond working in retail and rightfully so. I could’ve built a collection with them and bought one almost every year or more, but its their loss. I couldn'tvgive a damn about the extra money it costs me to go grey, at least I get what I want instantly and get treated with respect. Next stop is possibly a Daytona or a Vacheron Constantin Overseas.
Losing my dignity for a mass production watch? No thanks

i'm a librarian and I wear patek only
Or just cross the road and buy Omega :)
Let's get rid of flippers, don't buy watches from the gray market! 😂
laod of malarky, you don't need to sell yourself to buy a watch, you go in and ask, if you get offered one that's all good, but don't play into the Rolex AD games! YOU DONT NEED TO SELL YOURSELF
The classism in this video is nauseating.
I work in tech, I wear t-shirts shorts and flip flops and I earn a very good salary. I had no problem buying a watch from an AD. You are full of crap
Maybe you're the one full of crap, flying the flag of a nation that actively support genocide in Gaza. It's disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourself.
Phil, Why are AD's giving you so many watches, you resell them.
He doesn’t get any watches from an AD! He buys them from people who get them and resells them.
That’s why all he does is trash talk ADs.
So people feel like they have to go to him and pay 3X over retail to get their Rolex lmao
Almost sounds like a first date. Should you wine and dine them as well?
Do you "go downtown" or just kiss and make out?
Now there's a social circle I'm glad to not be a part of. If in-fact, this drivel is true, it cements my beliefs that fools with money and shysters deserve each-other.
You perfectly described the Rolex CPO market!
Plumbers and Retail staff get offered Rolex's IME
People coming up with stories are so transparent.
Even if the story is true they can sound made up lol.
Where yu get yours from sunshine bit shady 🤔
ABOVE ALL, WEAR A MAGA HAT WHEN YOU WALK IN.
Tell 'em you're running late for your golf game with Donald.
Go ahead and be a simp for a brand. I stopped buying Rolexes when they started shorting the supply deliberately.
When I go to the store, I don't dress up. I live so close to the store that it is pretentious to even dress up. I just show up with my normal clothes and they wont sell me anymore.
What a strange world we live. All this fannying about for a watch.
It's not the brand I hate; it's their FANS!
It's pretty bad. I was just checking Google reviews of some ADs in my area to see which one to visit. I noticed people leaving very positive reviews about their customer service experience even though they didn't buy a single Rolex watch.
Or just simply buy an Omega, or a Grand Seiko, or maybe even a Longines! It's really simple.
But those watches are crap.
@@hollym4469 compared to what?
@@hollym4469 Grand Seiko are hand made. Not machine made like a Rolex. So far from crap.
@@p.istaker8862 Rolex are made by hand. You're just too poor to afford one, so you claim they're bad. Ever read Aesop's fable about the fox and the grapes?
@@hollym4469 A large part of Rolex assembly is automated. I suggest you look at each word in my original statement and try and work out what they mean when put together in a series of sentences. I at no point made any reference to Rolex being bad. As for not being able to afford one, you know nothing about me. I don't know why you are referring to Aesop's Fable, when you seem unable to read and understand a simple statement.
Their CRM system decides who gets what and when…
I don't know if the luxury watches market work like that, but If rolex would sell more watches, it wouldn't reduce the grey market?
Are creepy moustaches a benefit or hindrance to how you're perceived by Rolex ADs?
A 1950s Spiv Moustache, can sell you rationed goods at a very respectable price
Never trust a business that makes it hard for you to give them money.
Rolex and their games.. Rolex sure is a good brand, but having to jump through hoops to get one.. Meh.. We are the ones who accept to be a part of it.
Who's 'worse'. Rolex or Ferrari?
@@StreetPreacherr yes
There isn't a waiting list for them either, because the ADs can't make extra profit selling them through the back door so there is no artificial shortage,
I'm still looking at watches and may decide on Air King, but if an AD tries any 'are you a suitable customer for Rolex' or suggests I register on a waiting list I'll burst out laughing and walk out.
If my mom has a fashion brand and sells jewelry to an ad for years would they sell her a harder watch to get?
You can't lie? Of course you can, they are you can too.
Bring back the GOLD STANDARD!!! lol
Should I have my grey market acquired gmt on my wrist when I go to the AD?
Bro, if they bring the watch over and the transaction goes through they get their money right away. What do they care how much you earn or what you look like lol. They want to milk more business out of you, simple. So if you’re a big spender, they’ll sell to you. I went to get a JLC and asked for a discount, the sales rep said “we cant give you a discount but we’ll sell you a rolex if you buy the JLC” . I was like “I need one watch” and wished them a nice day
Just buy from a reseller there are plenty of Rolex 💩 watches ⌚ available at resellers ! Get a reputable one 1⃣ and just buy what you want on the spot ! Nowadays the treatment at Rolex 💩 watches ⌚ are terrible 😣, in the old days you could just pop in and buy a Rolex 💩 watch ⌚ and be treated like 👍 luxury ! Now you get teased 😜, scolded and told to get lost 😡! Sigh 😮💨
Or just go to a brand that actually wants your business, there's plenty out there..
It helps to walk into an AD and know the brand, its history, and the reference numbers. It shows the knowledge a real collector has.
Lol. Boy, I'm really glad I don't like any of Rolex's modern offerings. Haven't since my last new purchase in 2010 and that was one of the few remaining AD stock five digit subs. Actually, I lost interest in 2003 when they dropped the drilled lugs.
I went into my local Rolex authorised dealer today and basically sold myself. Told them my master plan for five years. I want to get a Rolex OP for my 30th in five years and I’m obsessed with watches
Don’t like to say it but I’d agree with most of what you say I’ve read the comments he’s not talking crap it’s just the way it is I’d rather play the game and save 3 thousand on a watch than pay a grey market dealer over the odds. Having said that I’ve been lucky and I’ve got my watches quicker than I was originally told
I came to the store when I already had a sumbariner ordered for 10 months with a buyer of my Tudor Pelagos that I sold and the buyer wanted to see if all is ok with the watch. I was taken of the order list right away. Then I had enough and called a friend who is a huge client who can buy the most expensive models and I got the call from AD and a watch in few days. At first I wanted to buy it on my own and wait like normal guy. So buying proces is really sh....
I've just bought my third Rolex sports watch and most of what you say is true
It is so sad that people grovel in front of some random jewelry store employee to be allowed to spend thousands of dollars on a product (((
The logic here does not add up.
Who would have enough money to buy a Rolex without a having decent job anyways?
12k plus for a ss dj41 fluted jubilee gray market green, blue, Wimbledon dial
no thanks try to get from ad rrp 9300 uk once it hits 10k no thanks its not worth it
so you're telling me to apply for a stupid rolex watch? where have we ended up, please? anyone who jumps through such hoops has lost control of their life. They can kiss my ass for the money I carry there
Total bollocks in my experience
Bucherer have a field in their CRM for suspected flippers, they showed it to me.
Also you don't have to be rich but it helps to show that you already have a nice watch as a sign you are not a flipper. Omega Seamaster or JLC or whatever, wear it. They look, they told me. If you have nothing on your wrist, or a digital watch, its a red flag.
People with children don't have more disposable income 😂
That depends. For example, a majority of people in the top 5% of earners are married with at least one child. Read Charles Murray’s ‘Coming Apart.’
If you’re comparing a 27-year-old waitress with no kids to another 27-year-old waitress with one kid, then of course the former has more disposable income than the latter. But that’s not who Rolex is targeting.
This video is so sad. Good luck in life dude!
so what the f**k do they think when luigi from mario brothers walk in talking shit, wanting a watch
Has Rolex ADs gone this low? No wonder they now called Lowlex in East Asia.
Yeah these seven reason do apply to some buyers but there is only one reason why the ADs won't sell you a new high sought after watch. The ADs (not all but most) are the GMDs themselves.
What does GMD mean?
Is not Rolex problem how much you earn. Money are money.
I dress like crap when I go to the Rolex store. I don't care if they judge. I have been on their waiting list for a while. I just took 3 to get serviced by them. Fuck them if they don't want to sell me a watch. I walked over and bought a Brietling. 😂
Good video, but why would I, a CUSTOMER put so much effort and possibly humiliate myself just to buy a product?
Just buy a Casio gshock they look good and tell the time
Does zenith make the mechanics for rolex.i was told this by a specalist in abu dhabi
You only get robbed even it is a fake or not, bro!
Yes mate, you have to buy something for your girl.
Oh Rolex. They tried so hard to be the Hamilton and Omega of watches but ended up being as loved as Hublot, posers and prep losers
So don't tell them how much I can sell this for on the secondary market?
