I’ve lived in MA my whole life and I loved watching you guys experience my “back yard” 😊 Quincy market was a field trip destination back in grade school lol
Same here!!!! So cool to see an ‘outsiders’ perspective. Loved hearing ‘we saw where the Celtics play’ meanwhile to me it’s north station where I get the train home 😂
I love watching people visit Boston. My Mom was born and raised in the Northend of Boston, and my grandmother lived on Hanover Street, across from the Paul Revere Statue. So many memories for me in Boston! I hope you tried a cannoli at Modern Pastry. They are the best!
Glad you enjoyed Boston so much. Today is May 20, 2022 and the next two days are supposed to reach 98 degrees. If you had just come a week or so later you would not have been so cold. :) One minor point. Common mistake - the stones on little picturesque Acorn Street are not cobble stones. They are actually ballast stones. These were taken from the bottom of English merchant ships and replaced with goods being shipped from Massachusetts to England. Ballast stones are round. Cobble stones are rectangular and flat. Streets made of ballast stones are extremely rare.
Lived in Boston until 52 years ago, went to college near where Cheers is, had my informal college photo taken in the Boston Public Gardens which you liked so much. This video takes me back in time. My husband drove a taxi during our college years--but we have now lived in his home state (Vermont, and yes we make maple syrup) the last 50 years. We take friends and family to Boston and tell them we can tailor the visit to their likes. Each trip is different and always fun. I will probably watch this video over and over and over and......
Great reviews about Boston! I agree, travelers should visit the markets every where they go. I could almost taste your gyro !! Boston is on my list of favorite cities!
Boston is special to me and my husband, he is a Revolutionary War/Paul Revere buff, so we did the freedom trail when we were in Boston in 2016 and then he proposed at Paul Revere Mall, we are looking forward to going back again.
Hi, guys: Boston is one of our favorite cities. We’ve spent about 8 days there on a couple different trips. But you made it look even more fun! If you get more days there, definitely check out Faneuil Hall, the Aquarium, take a sailboat tour, go whale watching, check out a restaurant or two down at the pier, and get over for a Harvard Tour done by a real student. The Sox Stadium is also cool. My favorite restaurant in the North End is Limoncello. Have a fantastic cruise, from South Florida!
What a wonderful tour of our city! That was a fabulous segment. Agree about Cheers. Everyone has the same reaction. I am surprised you didn’t hit the Union Oyster House. Hugely famous and the oysters are SOO good. Thanks for the entertainment.
This is on my bucket list. When I was young, I use to read all kinds of books (romantic and mystery) and Boston was so described beautifully that it made want to go see this city. Thanks for sharing!!
I lived outside of Boston and would visit almost every weekend. Funny that the things you see and visited are taken for granted. I now live in CT and have not been to Boston for a long time, would love to go back.
Yay! We live in Massachusetts and love it when our state and our capital city gets some love! We are leaving for Bermuda on the Pearl the week on July 1st!
Wish we could have met, maybe on another visit. I am glad you got out and walked around Boston, it is known as a walking city. I am glad you saw Acorn Street, it is known as one of the most beautiful streets.
Regarding Quincy market layout, dont forget how OLD Boston is. The Market has been there a long time Boston is a very disorganized layout because the City wasnt preplanned and laidout(as apposed to DC) Boston just kinda happened
Boston is a great city! Spent five years there during the middle of my career. Great food everywhere and you can walk to everything. Can't wait to stop there again in July on the Caribbean Princess on the way to Quebec City in July! I remember some years where it did not get reliably warm until the beginning of July. The weather can be awful though August and September were always great. They used to say the four seasons were Fall, Winter, More Winter, and Road Construction. Fun video and yes, Cheers is a total tourist trap, LOL.
That was such a beautiful and fun video! Thank you for sharing. You both have delightful personalities and did a great job of showing us the city and the great food!
Glad you enjoyed! Welcome to Boston, sorry you had a cold weekend. Usually we get 70-80 degree weather in mid-may, so you must have just missed the warmer weather. Come back soon! We can give you some other big things to hit. The lion and the unicorn on the old state house (or British customs house) are actually symbols of the British empire. They were ripped down and stored in the attic after independence, but were restored to their proper location for the US bicentennial.
Welcome to my home city Boston! Glad you guys got to experience so much in the city. But 1. It wasn't that cold and 2. You need to drop your R's Quincy Mahket and Clam Chowdah Come back soon! Do the transatlantic from Iceland to Boston with Celebrity
Wicked good Red Sox shirt! ⚾ I grew up in Massachusetts and I'm SO HAPPY you had such a good time in Boston! It's a fun city, and you get to learn a little history too. Gotta love the.HOHO bus tours!
Ahhhh. Love going down to Boston. Boston is to me as NOLA is for you guys! Boston is definitely your city if you're a history nerd! ! Did you know...that old government building with the Unicorn on it has a small balcony on the front of it. That is where the Declaration of Independence was first read publicly, and right around the corner from that is the site of the Boston Massacre. I just LOVE it there, how the new city is built up and around the colonial era Boston. Sooooo glad you were able to see the best parts of the city and had a great time. Luv ya
And what most people (not you, Karen) don't know is that the original shoreline is shown near Faneuil Hall. Yes, much of Boston is on filled land, including most of Back Bay, where I lived (On Marlborough Street between Fairfield and Gloucester) up until 52 years ago.
It was fun watching your trip! It is such a beautiful city so different from others. Even though they call Chicago the Windy City most people don't know that the true windiest city in the country is actually Boston! Apparently the wind was happy to see you 😁!
Great vlog. Always fun to see how out of towners see the city you grew up in. But, you should have stopped to get lunch in the North End. Oh, the building you were commenting on at the beginning is the Custom House. Used to be a typical landmark we used while sailing in Boston Harbor. And, for a long time was one of the tallest buildings in that part of the city. One of the strange things when you grow up in a city like Boston is you never visit the "touristy areas" like Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market/Cheers unless someone comes to visit. For example, I never stepped on the Constitution until I lived 3 hours away. BTW, Boston doesn't do chocolate chip cookies, it's toll house cookies. It might have been too early in the year, but the Boston Public Garden and the Boston Common (as opposed to "the Gaaden" where the Celtics and the Bruins play) downtown are always fun and the swan boats in the Public Garden are iconic. Interesting thing about downtown Boston is the crazy maze of streets around Beacon Hill is the direct result of roads roads being constructed on existing cow paths. Final thing is Boston's classic walking tour, the Freedom Trail. Takes you by many of the Revolutionary War sites in Boston, including The Old North Church, Paul Revere's House and a lot of great old cemeteries.
So glad you enjoyed Boston! I live about 45 min outside of the city. Love everything about Boston! We are cruising out of Boston to Bermuda for them 3rd time in October. All NCL, but 3 different ships.
Hi Leo, I'm from NH and spent the night at the Lizzie Borden House a few years back doing a paranormal investigation with some friends of mine who have area PI Team. A-flipping-mazing! Definitely one of the coolest experiences of my life. Fall River is beautiful!
@@karengriswold4537 I'm glad that Fall River has brought you a great experience! Very cool! Fall River also has a lot of great restaurants as well! I have vacationed in NH White Mountains many many times throughout the years and it's one of my favorite places to visit!Take care! 🇺🇦🇺🇸🤜
We spent a few days in Boston for the first time last September. It's such an amazing city! Especially in the Fall. We had to visit Salem too. One of mine and my husband's favorite cities for sure!
Boston is one of our favorite Places to visit. Our daughter lives there so we get there a lot. Welcome to New England, if you don't like the weather ,wait it will change. You should try out the Duck boats.
We have done a couple of cruises out of Boston (probably our favorite sail away so far) and spent several days there prior to embarkation. Both times we stayed over in the Chinatown area of Boston and enjoyed Dim Sum brunch and lots of other fantastic Asian cuisine. The Sam Adams Brewery tour is also awesome. Boston is indeed a lovely city, very walkable with a good easy to use subway system. So happy you enjoyed your time there.
Boston is a great city and the food is awesome. Had the best lobster Mac and cheese there. And the northeast definitely was not getting the memo that spring should have arrived!
I love that you are still excited about the lobstah and chowda in New England and that your first “best” experience was at Allisons in Kport (and Portland!).
It's so interesting to see tourists explore 'my' city. So glad you guys love it so much! I learned some things because I've never been 'a tourist' here before..lol I've walked by Cheers but never ate there. Thank you for the price warning! I grew up watching Cheers and loved it! Pizzeria Regina is my favorite pizza! It's 'wicked good'..lol 😉 Food court/market ones are so good but never as good as the original restaurant in the North end( near faneuil hall). The weather has been soooo much worse than I've ever seen it here! It has us all scratching our heads..lol while you guys were talking about the Bell in Hand tavern behind you is a very emotional but incredibly done memorial to the Holocaust. Did you guys have a chance to walk through it? It's very hard but important... Thank you for this very enjoyable video of Boston! 💜😀
Just found your video about your very organized previous RV. I’m organized but you’ve got me beat! Then watched the video where you bought a van. I want to buy a class B too. Would be plenty of room for me & my dog. Enjoyed your Boston video too. I’m loving your channel! Hope you had a great time on your cruise!
This is awesome! I hope you do more travels like these when you're not cruising. Every place you visit makes me want to go. I love you both. Regards from Sydney Australia💝🌻
We are driving my wife's Mom back to Boston this weekend. Sorry we will miss you when we get there as you will be on a cruise. Love the Quincy Market but the one in Philadelphia I loved more. If you get up to Ontario Canada, the Farmer's Market in St. Jacobs is not to be missed; don't go on a Sunday because with a Mennonite community they are closed on Sunday. We are planning on seeing NYC and Washington by Hop On Hop Off tours then on to some of the sites of your East Coast trip, Kennebunkport and Portland.
I am glad Quincy Market is doing well. I was there in Summer of 2020 right when everything kind of open back up and they were really struggling. Glad to see they are so full and back to a lot of foot traffic.
