My family came from Sicily and settled in the North End of Boston in 1901. They were fisherman, grocery business and butcher shop. They bought property on Fleet St and Moon St and never looked back. I played as a youngster on the streets of the N End and worked in my fathers butcher shop for many years. Wonderful people and neighborhood !
Always be proud to come from Boston they either love or hate us ! It’s a special little melting pot of culture always changing! But holds deep history!

Ok, the North End is one of my favorite parts of Boston. Is it as heavily Italian as it used to be? No. Is it more touristy than it used to be? Yes. BUT, it is still very much worth the visit, and like most of Boston, it is all walkable. Modern Pastry is certainly good, but Mike’s and Bova’s are also very good. Unlikely you will go wrong in any case. The food is always good. I have my favorites, but they are all very good. Finally, if you can go during St.Anthony’s Festival, (August) then that is very good. Just fun with some music and the church activities. Nothing like in the old days, BUT still a good time. Go! It’s a small neighborhood. You won’t get lost. 😊

The video footage was eye appealing and made my mouth water; from aerial footage to the table, I vicariously taste every bite of the salumeria sanguicio, the fresh ricotta lobster tail, and steaming hot espresso! And, please let us know when Sal the Voice Valentinetti performs in the future! Buona fortuna a voi tutti from the Philadelphia suburbs! 🥊🗽🛩🚲🚙😁🍅🌶🥖☕🥐🎭⚽🔔🎥🎬📚🎇
My great Nana came to America from Rome during the depression and she raised my nonnie in one the apartments above Regina’s. I love the north end and I can’t wait for the feast. Wish I could afford to live out there
The city and state of Missouri destroyed Kansas City's Little Italy by running a series of highway's through the heart of the Italian neighborhood, really sad, it's just a few blocks now, St Louis still has a great Italian neighborhood, God Bless everyone
I never heard that from anybody,,,, and i disagree Geez,,,, Sal has a big heart for EVERYBODY. He's the real deal, Having a Real Italian Authentic Entertainer on the East Coast is a HUGE Deal. He's successful because he has Real talent, Real personality and that Spark of life we all should have, SO,, Mama Mia,, I Never heard one bad thing about him.... Basta!
I’m from NY and I hate to admit it but the North End is definitely better than Little Italy here. Much larger neighborhood and doesn’t feel as gentrified as it does here.
Absolutely loved this video! When my father came to this country from Avellino this is where my family settled. This definitely hit home seeing all the old places. Love it!
Great video with excellent photography and music. Sal sang on AGT season 11, the year Grace Vanderwaal won. He's a terrific host. I grew up in Boston and haven't been back in years, but if I did, I would head straight for these restaurants. I love hearing how everyone still talks the same. Really nostalgic, and with such authenticity in manners and love of the food culture. You know this food rocks!
Bravo! I spent every summer in the North End. I worked for my Uncle Sonny Naples. The Muffin King. He sold his square pizza by the slice at the Feasts. Anyone remember Dottie's cafe? The Boston I store. Two thumbs up to Mr. Vallentinetti I am a big fan.
Lived on Richmond Street right up the street from where Sonny had his first shop Then the shop caught fire he moved to Hanover Street. Good people ♥️Boy do I remember the Boston I.Dottys Cafe where was that located?
I live in Boston near Symphony, but I love all of this city. Your vlog about the North End is the best I’ve seen. You captured the spirit of one of our best neighborhoods. Thank you!
I'm going to that coffee shop. Never been to the NE to just hang out and eat. Last time I was there it was to deliver concrete, they where refurbishing the Paul Revere house. Not sure how I squeezed the mixer through there in the middle of the day. I did remember to bring snacks, because with NO snacks the smells of the food there can drive a person nuts ! Nice video.
One of the most unique and charming neighborhoods in the entire nation. Grew up in San Francisco/ Los Angeles. Lived in the North End for the last two years. Great experience. Now living in NYC and miss the food! Only Italy itself has better pasta.
I was looking for Italian hard crust bread yesterday, found some finally and sprinkled extra virgin olive oil and squeezed some good quality tomatos on top, (pan e pomodor) used to eat that in mornings in Italy, delicious
I travelled to Boston this past summer. It was(especially north end) so clean and there were no tweakers we see so much of on west coast. It was a breath of fresh air. San Francisco was so wonderful in the early 90s, but it has fallen so far. Boston is the place now.
I spent an enourmous time working in the north end for many of the folks featured here. But I will never forget how well the Spagnulo's treated me when I used to park cars for em. The people of the North End never forget a face.
I love the North End and have been going there for decades but it has become such as massive tourist trap so it is difficult to keep that Italian tradition strong when most old school Italians just don't want to deal with all the headaches of being inside a city with tight real estate and very limited parking. I give the restaurant and store owners a lot of respect for keeping their establishments in the North End as it is not convenient at all for a business to operate in.
This was really awesome In all of the changes that Boston has made in the last few years, the good people of the North End continue to survive and thrive.

Looks like a good clean neighborhood; As Mr Vaccaro said: every local eatery serves variations of the same recipes. How do people make you feel! Cannot wait to visit Boston North End!
Wish I could afford to live out there
Used to live in this neighborhood while serving in the Coast Guard. Man life was good there, I loved every second of my time in the north end
The city and state of Missouri destroyed Kansas City's Little Italy by running a series of highway's through the heart of the Italian neighborhood, really sad, it's just a few blocks now, St Louis still has a great Italian neighborhood, God Bless everyone
I lived there when Covid started. People were singing Italian opera from their apartments or shops. I have a video on my page
LET'S GO! Sal the Voice!
Definitely...!! We are the real thing. 🏅🍕🍷🍝🥫
Great place! I used to go to North End,mostly to Cafe Paradiso in 1990 til 1997.Then I moved back to Slovakia.I have a great memmories...❤
Love this show! Love seeing the different people and places! Thank you!
Some people say Sal Valentinetti loves himself too much, yet I enjoy his singing!
Basta!
@@JustMe-gs9xi Just because you never heard 1 bad thing means nobody else has??
I love the north end I’m so happy to be from New England . Viva Italy
Love this video it reminds me when I was a child with my parents god do i miss those days thank you and god bless
Raised in South Boston but Love the North End. Great Video keep up the good work!
Lived in many Boston neighborhoods, back i the 70's and 80's....do they still refer to South Boston as "Southie"
I’m from NY and I hate to admit it but the North End is definitely better than Little Italy here. Much larger neighborhood and doesn’t feel as gentrified as it does here.
🤙
I moved to buffalo 2yrs ago from the n.end after 69 years. I love watching the videos of so many wonderful memories.
Mamma mia che spettacolo - much love from Italy 🇮🇹❤️
As an Italian-Sicillian, eating at Italian restaurants feels so special and holds a special place in my heart.
Ciao a tutti!! Poche persone sono fiere come gli italiani!! Greetings to all by a sardinian guy 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Absolutely loved this video! When my father came to this country from Avellino this is where my family settled. This definitely hit home seeing all the old places. Love it!
My husband's family is from Avellino, too! Calitri.
My great-grandparents (Cotillo) came from Avellino and settled in the North End. Many of their neighbors were from the same village.
I don’t even have to watch and I’m Leavin it 100%
Lived on Richmond Street right up the street from where Sonny had his first shop
Then the shop caught fire he moved to Hanover Street. Good people ♥️Boy do I remember the Boston I.Dottys Cafe where was that located?
Great job Sal. Lived in Boston for 15 yrs my favorite place.... The north end
Nice video.
What an awesome video. salute! im half abruzzese/Molisano, half calabrese. I been to Molise, my next goal is to visit Calabria.
One of the most unique and charming neighborhoods in the entire nation. Grew up in San Francisco/ Los Angeles. Lived in the North End for the last two years. Great experience. Now living in NYC and miss the food! Only Italy itself has better pasta.
Even though it's changed thru the decades, thank God SF still has North Beach, and Boston still has the North End
@@bartonpercival3216 . Los Angeles sadly, has neither. 😥
Rocky Racoon, Los Angeles has Skid Row
@@matildesantos4215 . No kidding.
I just walked around the North End just passing thru on the train from Boston to Lowell. I live in Oregon. I love italians.
Ernesto's, Modern Pastry, & Regina Pizza. Oh, and Bova. The best. Started coming here since the 1980s.
I go to the north end often, it's one of the best places to go to! I love it❤❤
I was looking for Italian hard crust bread yesterday, found some finally and sprinkled extra virgin olive oil and squeezed some good quality tomatos on top, (pan e pomodor) used to eat that in mornings in Italy, delicious
I travelled to Boston this past summer. It was(especially north end) so clean and there were no tweakers we see so much of on west coast. It was a breath of fresh air. San Francisco was so wonderful in the early 90s, but it has fallen so far. Boston is the place now.
i can second that SF in the 90s was awesome. but it's a cesspool now.
Pargaone here my family from North End . YES we are better and best
North End is awesome. You can also find great italian places in Medford, Saugus, Stoneham, Everett, Revere, winthrop and other cities.
I love the north end. My old stomping grounds years ago!
Such a Great Episode of Get in the Car hosted by Sal the Voice. Keep ‘Em Coming and I’ll keep Watching. Sal is a great Host. God Bless
❤️😍❤️
Que bueno tu programa, hay que tener el corazón italiano para querer este programa......
SAL, YOU ROCK, WISH YOU COULD COME TO SOUTH AFRICA.
Wow great production value on this video!! Nice work
I spent an enourmous time working in the north end for many of the folks featured here. But I will never forget how well the Spagnulo's treated me when I used to park cars for em. The people of the North End never forget a face.
Extremely well done to all involved, bravo!
Alright, you convinced me! I'm going to Boston next week and changed my plans to dine at Strega.
Did you go ?
@@JB-sv5pr I did! Amazing
He walked out of that store carrying that sandwich like it was his newborn child lol
Che bravo. Nicely done.
Such a very nice video. Nothing but positives
This was really awesome
In all of the changes that Boston has made in the last few years, the good people of the North End continue to survive and thrive.
Umberto’s Pizza! 🔥
