I changed the title to trigger less of you (which I understand, unmoving is stupid). I know shimmy is technically moving in and out of throw range to bait the throw, but I still keep the shimmy name in there because it serves a similar purpose.
+PAN So, it works on 7 out of 18 characters? Thanks! :P Anyway, your video is a good illustration of what to look for. People can figure out which buttons work on what characters themselves using this video as a guideline.
+TheBigBoss31 I put it as unmoving throw since I needed a title that wasn't 3+ words and got the point across. But alot of people took it as thats what the tech should be called, so I changed it.
That's an awful lot of research and info. Great vid. Been wanting to post one of my own called "The Switcheroo" but I don't think my tech is anywhere near as useful.
You can do the same thing, just walk back slightly before the light, or walk slightly back after for like 5 frames and then block. Same effect, pretty easy.
Good luck getting this to work without first training them to tech, which requires forward movement and shimmys to train them. If you aren't moving forward a bit after a button I'm not going to hit throw. The people getting hit by this have either been thrown a lot earlier in the match and are trying to react or are really bad at teching. Even in Saionide's example he was doing dash in grab a lot in the match which is stupid hard to react to in this game due to the 8 frame input lag and Ricki was trying to preemptively tech rather than late tech to catch it. Without Saionides earlier dash grab attempts Ricki wouldn't have fallen for this.
+Chris C Just wanted to make sure people watching this were aware. You can't just do this and think they are going to whiff grab. You have to use unsafe setups to use this somewhat safer setup. Trust me some people watching this are going to go into a match and hit cr lp and then try to hit a button to punish and think it's going to work. It requires the less safe play to setup this safer play was my point.
"If you aren't moving forward a bit after a button I'm not going to hit throw." How to condition them to tech after blocking the light: do the light then walk forward an inch and throw. You won't have time to react to that micro walk, so you'll find yourself teching even before you perceive them walking forward.
www.reddit.com/r/StreetFighter/comments/4j5dft/input_lag_according_to_redbull/d34cczg Complaining about input lag is moot. See another user's reply on my comment on that discussion. I think I address the reasoning of how things are and how Capcom really didn't fuck up input lag as if they did something that's abnormal for fighting games. It's suboptimal but not something in the category of outrageous.
I need to stop getting shimmied. It's my greatest weakness right now. Also, can we get a link to the song in the background rather than just a title? Google isn't helping
Element #2 in footsies handbook. This tech is older than Nuckledu. Not sure why it needs a new confusing name like Unmoving Shimmy, wtf does Unmoving even mean
+Azrael VG I'm just gonna throw it out there that I didn't mean for the title of this video to be what this tech is called as, nor is any of it new. In hindsight, i should have given the title a different name.
+PureSoulKyo All 4 of her light attacks have extremely low pushback, so you'll get thrown by everyone whose not rashid. Mika doesn't need to use this technique anyway since command throw threat means they will probably backdash or jump more often than whiff tech. If they do whiff tech, shimmy into irish whip is much better.
+cdchai it's meant to be compared to the shimmy as a safer option. no ones searching youtube for "throw bait setup" well i mean maybe they are but not as many.Plus, a shimmy isn't a dash, it's just walking in and out.
From a terminology stand point, could it just be called a throw check? An offensive move is being used to keep the player out of throw range so you're "throw checking" him. If so, you'd have throw techs, baits and checks.

amazing stuff by saw saionide
Nice. Appreciate the effort and clear explanation.
Huge thanks for the research and thought here. Will definitely step up my Birdie mixup game.
oh my god... thank you so much for the throw ranges... i didn't know that!
Great work!
I forgot to put the necalli clip in: st.lk (works on 8.2
+PAN So, it works on 7 out of 18 characters? Thanks! :P
Anyway, your video is a good illustration of what to look for. People can figure out which buttons work on what characters themselves using this video as a guideline.
Glad you changed the name of this video lol. Great work. This still really should just be called unmoving throw bait.

I can't believe Rashid has a worse throw range than Vega. Nonetheless, good shit.
FANG disliked the video.
thank you so much for this video. I didn't know all this stuff. suscribed to see more :)
Great video!
Yoink!
Simple but worth trillions god damn wow
That's an awful lot of research and info. Great vid. Been wanting to post one of my own called "The Switcheroo" but I don't think my tech is anywhere near as useful.
hello was just wondering what is the number itself that determines the throw range like how is it measured?
Excellent, thanks =)
Thanks for sharing!
Very good stuff
NOICE KEEP IT UP BRO!!!!!
Awesome video. Do you happen to know how Necalli's s.MK performs in this respect?
+Deeyennay Most mediums push them far enough, to where you can do this, but its less deceptive.
+PAN Thanks! :)
Where's FANG PAN!?!?! WHERE IS HE?!
+PugilistPenguin FANG is so low tier, he only is an annotation on this video
You cut me deep with this one man.
:(
this is the single most depressing video in fgc history and i've seen the dark prince interview
+Billy Fletcher and marn attempt to run
Dont just watch the man's videos then leave, SUBSCRIBE!
Great video! Hopefully I missed it, Was FANG in this video?
FANG cr.lp (works on 8.2 and below)
I needed this; however, Karin doesn't have one that works on dictator :(, what about one of her LK buttons, could it possibly work on him?
+Joshua Delaney All of her lights space out to where he can throw you, so you just gotta stick to walkback vs him.
Makes sense

The thing with Zangief is players dont normally grab after the jab, they just jump.
+josevh75 This really doesn't work with grapplers like gief, I put their examples in for completion.
Love your work man, i'm silver thanks to you
Yeah, but jumping a normal throw instead of teching it could get you anti-aired.

Is it bad that I managed to make it to diamond rank without knowing this? ... I'm gonna check this to see if it still works for season 3.5
Name of the song please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
please can you make a video about how to read your opponent 👍
+Majd Fallaha its definitely on the list of ideas
name of song in this video?
I need to stop getting shimmied. It's my greatest weakness right now. Also, can we get a link to the song in the background rather than just a title? Google isn't helping
+Kingish KSH Yeah I'll put a link to the album in the description. Random touhou arranges are hidden deep in the internet.

no walk
Everyone talks about this Damn footsies book. Where the fuck do I find it?
+dommafia sonichurricane.com. literally the first result that pops up in Google when you search for "footsies handbook"
+sblade Don't hate just go name something before someone else does. Its the new FGC movement.

This lowkey hate for Mika, you showed one button with her, and made it only work on Rashid lol

We're not calling it that, unmoving shimmy is a dumb term. Shimmy is a dumb term.
+Havel Pavel well aren't you just a negative nancy
+Havel Pavel "we"?
Don't speak for me.
Johnny Blaze
Okay but if you say it in my presence I'm breaking your arms.
+Havel Pavel what if he shimmies the command grab
Well, if you say so okay :(
You should make TF2 videos you're not good enough for streetfighter. TF2 is kinda like Overwatch
+Brandon Westoby yeah i have to agree with dis guy he knows his stuff
+Ty Thorn CHek out my lets play channel.
+Brandon Westoby i just check your channel and dang its actually really good thumbs up man
+Brandon Westoby I thought tf2 was a copy of battleborn
+Ty Thorn Yup, totally not an alt account. Noo way.
Stop using shimmy to describe everything. This isnt a shimmy.
+TeamIFDVideos Agreed. This is just a throw bait setup. A regular shimmy is just a dash out and in.
relax buddy
+cdchai it's meant to be compared to the shimmy as a safer option. no ones searching youtube for "throw bait setup" well i mean maybe they are but not as many.Plus, a shimmy isn't a dash, it's just walking in and out.
