You tear up, he tears up, the drummer tear up, I tear up, and everybody that has a soul tears up! We all can relate to those lyrics and the feeling bond to them to several different situations, we'd all been that broken.
For me it's the sort of defeated "whatever makes you happy" that follows the scream that gets me. Like the adrenaline drop after an intense moment. So well-crafted
I was somewhere in that crowd, and at the time it was well known that Thom had come to hate performing Creep, so it was a fantastic surprise that it wasn't just performed, but performed masterfully and with full commitment. And even in a crowd of tens of thousands, the performance made it feel intimate and personal.

That song and his voice always... ALWAYS stabs me right in the heart. I know that pain all too well. "I'm a weirdo. What the Hell am I doing here? I don't belong here." The desperate longing in his voice. Wanting something, someone that You feel is so far above you. To sing that song light and bright would ruin it. He nails it, you can hear the pain, feel his frustration and isolation... And it hurts. And if it doesn't hurt you, then you just can't feel or lived a perfectly blessed life and are probably that person from the "In Crowd" that caused that longing and pain in people like Tom, myself and so many others. *(slow blinks)* I am gonna go huddle in the corner of my bed, hug my Plushie bat and play my playlist with this song on it.

Yeap, much of the greatness of this song is in the way he is able to convey the emotional of what this song is lyrically about with his vocal performance, both in studio and various live performances.
Yorke does actually 'jolt' his jaw in a lot of performances and seems to have it done it for most of his 25+ years of performing. Which causes me to think maybe it is a tension issue? But we may never know!
I thank Thom Yorke and his singing of Creep for giving me the confidence as a teenager in vocal lessons and competitions to *PUSH MY VOICE* into an area that we thought I could do, but it hurt. Going from head to chest push fixed that problem and now they sound the same.
As a dude rapidly approaching 40, I feel so lucky to have had so much good music like this right as I was developing my own tastes. No matter what genre you were into, the early/mid 90s had good flavors for everybody.

It is the thing every vocal coach, as it is of logic, demonstrates how he sings and what he does as of these being arranged and programmed. I remember reading about Radiohead when they made their cameo "appearance" on South Park ("Scott Tenorman Must Die"). I'm paraphrasing, but it was basically "Am I really going to tell one of the most emotive performers in the world that he needs to emote MORE?? How could I do that?" And, yep, he was right.
I know a LOT of people who call Thom Yorke’s voice “whiney”, which I can understand. However, I struggle to think of other male tenors with a four octave range. He is capable of incredible things. He has a very diverse bag of tricks. His falsetto is his go to, but I really enjoy him most dynamically when he sings almost as if he’s whispering in the softest possible voice, a bit deeper than usual, and then suddenly this bombastic explosion occurs......he’s glorious! His performances often feel a bit lazy, or lackadaisical at times, almost setting up the listener to be floored when breaks out something amazing.....all in the same song.
