The dynamic and emotional range in this song is absolutely stunning. I've heard it countless times over 3 decades and it will still catch me off guard and I'll tear up.
One of my favourite songs of all time - an anthem to me when I was in my 20's. And I've seen a few reaction videos to it - yours is possibly the best I have seen!
Loved loved loved ur reactions. You seemed to understand the message of the lyrics and definitely appreciated the emotions Thom the singer put into this song. Picture this: you are in high school or jr high. You see a girl and she is so beautiful it makes your heart skip a beat. You dont want to blow your cover so u hide it. But anytime you are around her, it just grows. You hear her voice and its like music to your ears. You watch her and it seems everything about her, the way she interacts with others, the way she moves, her laugh, her smile etc just seems perfect to you. You put her on a pedestal. She seems flawless to you...shes effn special. But u dont see yourself in that same way. You know your own flaws very well. In your mind, you just dont seem to measure up. You see her walking towards you in the hall and she looks your way, maybe even smiles but you cant even look her in the eye...much less even nod or, god forbid, say how's it going in passing. She is on a pedestal in your mind and you just simply dont measure up. Shes special...and by comparison...you are just a creep. You hear about a party...she is supposed to be there. You show up, not with ur crew of buddies but alone hoping to maybe bump into her and get to meet her. U get there but its not your crowd. You feel like u dont fit in. All the special ppl are there but u aint in that club. You feel like...what the hell am I doing here? I dont belong here. Then u see her. Maybe its worrh these feelings...maybe if I can get her to notice me and I will go up and talk to her a bit and see how it goes. But u dont seem to get ur chance, she is vibing on someone else and later she splits with them. She running again...away from you...with someone else. You are too young and too inexperienced to recognize and understand that no one is perfect. Everyone has flaws and insecurities. You dont have to be perfect to be worthy of someone else. You havent learned, if you are unwilling to try something, you will fail 100 percent of the time. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Attempt to get to know someone. Not in a creepy way...just talk introduce yourself. The regrets are the things that we dont try out of fear of failure. Many of us have gone thru something similar...both males and females. A crush or even unrequited love. But its not real love because you dont even really know that person. You only know the perfect person you have invented in your brain that doesnt really exist. Maybe you do know the person as a friend but never really let your true feelings be known to that person. Thats what makes this song so relatable. Anyone that has read this far...search Creep Radiohead Best Live Performance to get...exactly that. It is awesome. Mark
Radiohead had not planned to release "Creep", and recorded it at the suggestion of the producers, Sean Slade and Paul Q. Kolderie, while they were working on other songs. They took elements from the 1972 song "The Air That I Breathe" by Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood. Following legal action, Hammond and Hazlewood were credited as co-writers. Kolderie convinced EMI to release "Creep" as a single. It was initially unsuccessful, but achieved radio play in Israel and became popular on American alternative rock radio. It was reissued in 1993 and became an international hit, likened to alt-rock "slacker anthems" such as "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana and "Loser" by Beck. Reviews of "Creep" were mostly positive. EMI pressured Radiohead to match the success, which created tension during the recording of their second album, The Bends (1995). Radiohead departed from the style of "Creep" and grew weary of it, feeling it set narrow expectations of their music, and did not perform it for several years. Though they achieved greater commercial and critical success with later albums, "Creep" remains Radiohead's most successful single. It was named one of the greatest debut singles and one of the greatest songs by Rolling Stone. In 2021, the singer, Thom Yorke, released a remixed version with synthesisers and time-stretched acoustic guitar.
First released in 1992, Creep was rarely given airplay as it was considered too depressing! The song also contains the f word which was not acceptable for the BBC. The band recorded an alternative, substituting the offending word with “very”. The song was re-released in 1993 where it reached number seven in the UK charts I LOVE IT I GET GOOSEBUMPS WHEN I HEAR THIS.
This was off thier first album in the early 90s, even RH doesn't like this song haha. It was way over played and stunted their growth with listeners. They grew so much from that point, arguably the most experimental band ever. Each album sounds different and they manage to still sound good after completely changing their style. These guys are geniuses, especially Jonny Greenwood (lead guitar). Keep checking them out!! In Rainbows album is my favorite- Reckoner, House of Cards, Jigsaw falling into place, Nude. Honestly the whole album. Even the b side haha
I remember when it came out .. not too many ppl liked that song until much later. Not this guy. Ive always loved it right from day one and still do today.
Hard to believe it was live, it was so perfect. To me the best part is where the last part suddenly become very quiet, but with the same everything else. The explosive parts are my second best, or penultimate, parts. I'd have to give it some thoughtpower to adjudge the antepenultimate and preantepenultimate parts. Cool that there are words for such things. There is a great video of the song with Johnny Depp in a music store. He stole my style though. :) "Pyramid Song" is a haunting classic worth the ears.
Love how this song hits you guys to the core .. the way you guys talks about this .. that is the TRUTH. This IS music. You should go and listen to the MEATLOAF "I DO ANYTHING FOR A LOVE"
Check out Creep covered on the piano by Paulina the drummer of the band The warning, she will blow you away, and their original music is even better. Those sisters from Mexico are badass
I still think that 75% of this hit is due to that super guy gitarist. He is fucking raping it!!! Without him is would just be a good song. That said, when you see the live version from Pinkpop, the singer is 100% the man , OMG!!! Look that up!
Very good reaction and analysis of this song. Tom York one of the best singer 90s For your travel searching singer 90s recommend this Hunger strike by Temple of the dog Love Heat love by Alice in Chains Porche by Pearl Jam live MTV unplugged. Soundgarden beyond the wheel Big regards from Chile South America.

I think this song resonated with so many people because it doesn’t have to be about a girl, but about the feeling of alienation and wanting to belong.
@@joshua0626 Ridiculous assertion
❤❤❤❤yes exactly... insecurity of ourself... not being good enough...
This song will resonate with every generation - there will always be a phase in young adult life where one feels like this.

This and
Deftones Change and
The Vines Get Free
go together so darkly beautiful in emotional and a part of your soul hit
Loved your reaction - exactly how I felt the first time I heard it as a teenager (and still now) - like someone understands that feeling
It's a song about the singer Thom being obsessed with a girl but he was afraid to approach her so he felt less than a person
Love your reaction to a wonderful piece of music
Great Reaction 👍
