Thanks for making this video. Dealership wanted to charge $500 to add this feature. Glad I watched this video first and learn that it was already built in.
Cant believe this is not in the manual anywhere!! Very impressed that you figured it out, saved me a lot of frustration and headscratching. Works just fine on our 2020 Highlander hybrid.
Owned my toyota highlander for 2 years and had no idea it had remote start. They told me I needed to get their app to use it. Thank you for making this video!
Thanks so much for your helpful video. I found myself hitting the lock button to quickly and my Toyota Highlander did not register it. I backed away from the car watched the side marker lights turn on each time I clicked the lock button and then held it for the third time like you said and that worked. Perfect!
I have been able to remote start my 2022 Venza until recently. I did exactly what you said and it worked. "Press lock 3 times within one second and hold on the third." Wonder why it worked before when I did not press within one second between consecutive presses. I also like the info regarding setting the various temperature controls before turning off the car to achieve the same conditions when starting again. Thank you.
I had a remote starter on Kia and i liked it it came in handy in the winter being that i lived on 3rd floor apt . Bought a toyota i gatta get one installed now on the 2nd floor . Gatta love it .
I believe the remote start is only in certain countries. Here in Australia i recently purchased a 2018 Camry and when i saw videos from over in the US with people with identical cars to mine remote starting i started wracking my brain to figure out why i couldn't do it, not only that i downloaded the Toyota Connect app and saw no vehicle data sent from my car to the app. After speaking with Toyota Australia i discovered that Camry's built after April 2021 recieved a DCM (Device Communication Module) which allows the multitude of functions you guys got in your version of the cars. It kinda sucks that we in Australia missed out on such awesome gadgets and functions but still i'm quite happy with my new Camry 😁
Just got a 2024 camey hybrid and this still works. You might have to use different speeds though depending on what you have. On mine we press it at 1 sec intervals but my sisters 2016 highlander has to be pressed much faster to work. Weirdly another relatives 2018 highlander doesnt work at all.
I have a 2018 Highlander Hybrid XLE and I am not able to get it to start using your instructions:( Any advice? I see the light flashes when I stand behind it and try but it doesn't start.
I discovered this by accident. I had my 2018 Highlander for two weeks when I got in the car and realized it was running and there was no key in the ignition. It wasn't until I googled what had happened did I learn about remote start. I truly think new car buyers should have to go thru training classes before they drive off the lot.
Funny thing is that I believe the sales people should go through training classes. When I got my 2020 Highlander XLE hybrid, the sales people at the Toyota dealership didn't know half the features I did from my own research.
This WAS helpful, thanks much for posting it. I like my Toyota, but it does seem like Toyota makes it more complicated and less user friendly to use connected features and remote start (compared to my ford fusion, that's much easier). Thanks for posting this, now using my remote start. And the tip about climate control was helpful too.
As for my understanding, remote start is only used to cool down or heat up your car before you enter. It's not designed to be used as an start it early and get in and immediately drive off. It's an anti-theft thing.
Yeah it's pretty dumb. And I think toyotas are the only ones that do it. Any other car you can't put it into drive without the key so you can't steal it anyway
I always wondered why Toyota key fobs do not have the curved arrow button for remote start. It makes sense now that Toyota is removing the feature unless owners pay for a subscription. You made a good point. Your dad's old Chevy has remote start with no additional subscription fee and with greater functionality.
I don't know why but I can remote start with the mobile app but can't with the key fob, I kept trying with varied time spaces between the presses but it doesn't work. If anyone is in the GCC and knows how to start it with the fob let me know.
I wish you could help me troubleshoot my remote starter. Just changed the battery and it does the same the car does in the video except it won't start. I have a 2016 toyota corolla here in the USA.
Remote start worked on my 2020 RAV 4 but few days ago i activated locking windows via physical key and unlocking windows via physical and remote key too by car scanner and then this remote start system decided to stop it's work Pressing 2 times lock button and holding it at the third time = no result to activate engine What's the problem and how to activate remote start?
My 2018 Honda Accord EXL has remote start standard, no subscription! I told my sister to remote start her car because she lives in AZ, and she said Toyota disables it after a few months unless you pay for it. Stupid! On top of that, the Honda remote start primes the cabin depending on the outside environment; i don’t have to remember to set the settings before I leave the car.
I just got a Toyota 4runner limited 2020 with he jbl speakers. I read it has remote start in some forms, tried the combo you mentioned and it doesn’t work, will try a few more times. Is there a way to tell if it does indeed have it before i waste trying to subscribe to their remote connect?
Ask the dealer/person you bought it from. Features such as remote starter are dependent on trim (for Toyota that's like L, LE, XLE, etc) and country. For example my exact make, model and year has less features than the USA version. In the US it has wireless phone charging, driver microphone pa system to passengers in the third row, etc.
So after the 2 min mark you talk about various things that will disengage the remote start. You described literally all of the ways to get in the locked vehicle, and every one turns the vehicle off. So how do you get in a locked Toyota that has been remote started without unlocking the vehicle with the FOB or sensor? This seems redundant for remotely starting your vehicle besides just warming it up if you have to restart it after it unlocks.
If my 2021 Corolla requires a key to start, does that mean I don’t have a remote starter? I’ve tried to start mine remotely using your instructions and it’s not happening. 😩
I just bought a 2021 Prius LE hybrid...no remote starter, no option to start from the app. Insane. I traded in a base 2019 F150, and even IT has remote start. Jesus.
After I downloaded the toyota app, my key fob remote star stopped working. I don't wanna pay any subscription. I just wanna start using my key fob as I always done
So to me, the remote start feature is pretty nonsensical if the car shuts off upon unlocking the doors. Why would Toyota program it this way? Don’t most people remote start so they can get in their vehicle and drive?
I had a 2013 toyota corolla and i had a starter installed and my starter had to be shut off first for me to drive the vehicle it was just to warm up or cool down the vehicle
@@lex3572I understand what the remote start is for, but again, it makes no sense to shut down the engine upon unlocking the door so you have to restart the engine again seconds later. Others have said it’s a “security feature” so a thief can’t steal your car. Well, that’s a simple fix - the remote start doesn’t work if a door or window is open and if the key fob is not present near the driver’s door when it’s opened.

Hola mi RAV4 dejó de hacerlo como puedo hacer para que tenga el encendido remoto otra vez no se porque ya no lo hace

Thank you so much! I just tried it today. I have watched all the tutorials, but this one worked for me. I really appreciate it

So how do you get in the car after remote start if grabbing the handle and hitting the unlock button doesn’t work?
I believe the remote start is only in certain countries. Yup, same problem here. My exact model, trim level and year has less features than the USA version.

I tried on my dad’s 21 Highlander Limited Hybrid but that was not started. Can you help?
I have a 2018 Highlander Hybrid XLE and I am not able to get it to start using your instructions:( Any advice? I see the light flashes when I stand behind it and try but it doesn't start.
If it doesn’t have push button start it won’t work I’m pretty sure
Thank you! I've had my camry since 2021 and never knew how to remote start it. Lol I FINALLY REMEMBERED to look it up!
Glad I could help!

Agree
What year is your Toyota? I have a 2019 Toyota Camry and I got a remote car starter installed in it. Now I wonder if I had one all along! 😮
What is the importance of the remote start if it turns off the car when you open it? How do I keep the car on when opening the door?
As for my understanding, remote start is only used to cool down or heat up your car before you enter. It's not designed to be used as an start it early and get in and immediately drive off. It's an anti-theft thing.
Yeah it's pretty dumb. And I think toyotas are the only ones that do it. Any other car you can't put it into drive without the key so you can't steal it anyway
Just imagine remote starting your car and a thief jumps in it. At least this feature kills it.
I always wondered why Toyota key fobs do not have the curved arrow button for remote start. It makes sense now that Toyota is removing the feature unless owners pay for a subscription.

TOYOTA SUCKS IN DESIGN S AND LACK SIMPLE TECHNOLOGY
Man I love Toyota cars and they are reliable, but that subscription model is awful. I hate that.
@@Michael.Barlow remote subscription is a bunch of BS extortion of their customers
@@Ematchable Ur not serious
Even worst in some countrys (Mexico) there's no way you can subscribe so youre not able to use many features.
Thanks so much 🎉 Corolla 2021 … Canada 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I have Toyota RAV4 TRD 2020, This remote start function was working before, but from sometime it is not working. What could be the probable cause ?
I wish you could help me troubleshoot my remote starter. Just changed the battery and it does the same the car does in the video except it won't start. I have a 2016 toyota corolla here in the USA.
Best you contact Toyota for help.
Same here
Straight to the point. Thanks😊

Can we also add these features in our app if we dont have it already?
I heard can roll down windows with keyfob too!

I laughed so hard at this 😂😂😂😂

The frequency on both cars must be the same
I suppose the remote start don’t works in Mexico, I have a corolla cross 2023 and I followed this instructions but nothing happens
How to see more start a 2008 highlander
does this work with the 2019 se?
will i still be able to use remote start on the remote itself after my subscription expires??
Here in Canada I can. Best to ask at a Toyota dealership or call their support line.
What about a 2006 Toyota solara 😢😢😢
