Just got my unit yesterday and damn, it is beautiful and sturdy as heck BUT I have to agree with the casing issue and another is..the R4 an L4 buttons at the back, it gets a bit annoying when you mistakenly press it from gripping the controller. Aside from those 2 things, it's worth the buy especially if its for overseas travel.
The controller really gives me some weird (but nice) vibes, like if an Xbox and a SNES controller shacked up, this would definitely be the result of that. 😄 It's a nice mixture and retro and modern, somehow GameSir pulled it off quite nicely. Also, thanks for becoming a channel member! ❤️
It's not really malware, it's just that there's 2 versions of the app. The one on the play store is ok, but the one on their website asks for all sorts of shady permissions.
I just bought my G8. About an hour into playing with it already I was experiencing stick drift. My right stick had me running in circles till I mashed it down a few times I went onto UA-cam to see if others had this same problem and it seems I am not the only one. So this gets me wondering if you are getting incentives to promote these products and saying you are not knowing that they have these issues or are you just one of the lucky ones? Because I don't see any bigger UA-camrs saying anything about this yet or how to fix the problem if it is possible.
I can't speak from experience, but I will say that looking at the specs for either device, the G8 is a clear winner. It doesn't natively support larger devices, which is the only category that the Kishi Ultra takes for me. Other than that, the G8 has halls effect triggers AND thumbsticks (a step up from the Kishi Ultra with halls effect triggers only), a moving USB-C connection (this has historically been a point of concern for me with all of the Kishi line. The USB-C connection is rigid, and given how the phone goes in, there's always some level of tension on that connection and your phones USB-c port), and all of the buttons are mappable (unsure about the Kishi ultra but the rest of the Kishi line only allows button mapping for the additional M1 and M2 buttons). Barring a HUGE difference in build quality in the Ultras favor, I would and am going with the G8
There IS a cool transparent black one, but they have some rebranding deal with Nubia where (I assume) they leave that color palette to them as an exclusive. (google RedMagic Shadow Blade 2)
HEY, how loud are the dpad/face buttons? and the BSP? Which one has buttons like a ps controller, which are soft and quiet? thanks for the review but I need to know before I buy one of them :)
What’s going on with the gamsir app? Reviews across iOS and android are hating on it. Is this controller still useful without the app? The backbone app with the g8 controller looks the ideal combo.
On iOS you don't really need the app at all, in fact on iOS it doesn't register it connected at all but it works just fine. The back button mapping works perfect, the only thing is the bottom left buttons don't do anything but I don't really care about game capture
I just got mine and noticed that the vibrarion is different on left controller to the right. Left side feels more like a rumble and right side feels more like a spinning feeling. Different frequency/intensity, i guess? Has anyone else experienced this?
That's actually normal. Was puzzled too initially. The Xbox controller had a small rumble motor on the left, and a bigger one on the right (or vice versa). They're (rumble motors) intentionally designed like this, apparently. Don't stress, you don't have a defective controller 🍻
Same question as a few others -- can you please share what emulator you're using? I'm trying to use Duckstation, but the controls with this Gamesir don't seem to be working on the game I downloaded :(
You have to automap the controller in Duckstation. First though, make sure that your controller makes proper contact with your phone. If the bottom-right doesn't turn on, try it without a case. :)
Price in EU is same for this and Razer Kishi V2** Still looking for controller like this, but compatible with Spigen tough armor case for Galaxy Ultra phones
A fairly midrange Poco F5 (it was the best performance to price ratio at the time). It's still a good bang for the buck today, I think (the cameras are super mediocre, though)
@@VladNerd I guessed right... Planning to upgrade my 5t. Been a while now since I've been using it. Since release to be exact. Still works excellent. But been wanting to catch up with the newer smartphones and figured it'd be a good replacement.
Supports audio and mic. I use discord while I play, also works for steam calls with steamlink, but you cannot change the volume or the pause the music using the buttons from the headset, for the volume you can use the keys in the controller
@@VladNerd ah yeea i found the video ... sadly its only a launcher and doesnt have all emulators in it .... im searching for a all in one that have a nice launcheer and a emulator for all retro consoles like NES/SNES or gamboy and works nice.... but thanks for the nice videos :)
Great review, as every one I saw from you. Great accent and tone of voice, I would listen to you reading anything 😃now to the real question, I already have a very good gamesir x2 pro, would you recommend upgrading to this? (I saw also your review about the g8+, but i prefer with type c connection)
Thanks a lot, my guy! ❤️ Depends on your needs, really. If you're satisfied with the X2 Pro, there's no reason to. If ergonomics matter to you a loy, then definitely. Personally, I'm a fan of both. :)
weird, I never had this. It seems to be more of an issue of dust getting stuck in the left bumper trigger. According to Reddit, you should remove the left faceplate + left joystick and blow air into it.
Ofc I notice you, my dude. :) Honestly, I noticed no difference whatsoever. I think all these usb-c controllers sip very little battery from the phone.
I hope this controller works with my hard Spigen phone case. My phone is a Samsung S21 plus. I have a backbone, but the left trigger is broken. Should I propose to and marry this controller?

I appreciate the sentiment my dude, but one correction: Romanian accent. Fully latin-descended nerd right here. 😄
@@VladNerd my bad haha, they sound very similar to me
Only issue I have, is since the last firmware update the sticks are OVER sensitive and there is no way to adjust the sensitivity. 🤷🏻♂️
I didn't have that tbh, but I think you can adjust that in the Gamesir app. You can find it in the play store, my dude.
What kind of emulator do you have on your phone at the beginning of the video?
I'd also like to know

Looks great! If I didn’t already buy an Odin 2 I’d seriously consider this. The backbone is pretty nice too but this looks so much better!!

Brilliant review. Especially the silicone case tip!

this telescopic controller is GOATED
Controller works great with my S23 Ultra. Haven't had any issues yet, I was even able to calibrate for Delta Force.
The variable that can change the usability is newer versions of Android and how they always end up screwing over support for older controllers
It actually have a setting "touchscreen only" and it wouldn't matter what software version you're on
What's up with the malware on the gamesir app though?
It's not really malware, it's just that there's 2 versions of the app. The one on the play store is ok, but the one on their website asks for all sorts of shady permissions.

Is it better then gamevice flex?

The app is simple and works great. People prob just don't have patience and don't read directions.
