I cant recall if you mentioned motion controls i was kinda distracted but does it have them and how good are they? Only thing I would add to this controller would be the click at the end of the analog trigger press for true gamecube function which is important for smash bros melee, mario sunshine, f zero gx, metroid prime, ect... or at least give us the option to buy it as an swappable module. Often an overlooked function for a "Perfect" controller. Anyways nice review dude
Cool channel bro, think it's only second or third visit. There's soooo many retro channels now, and most are generic, bland and boring, and, I suspect, in the pockets of the manufacturers they 'review' products for. You seem much much better. And a lot funnier! I noticed at the end you have Techweeb on screen those other members. Further proof of the quality of your work, in my eyes Subbed.
@@ZackSilver77 hi mate. Im new to the channel. I just wanted to ask you if you know of a good video for mapping a series X controller (or similar) to gamecube controls. I'm using retroarch via daijisho front end for gamecube emulation, but the gamecube controller was quite unique it seems, and I just couldn't get fzero working (it's the game I was using as a test for the whole notion of GC emulation on android). Thank you. I just ordered the hulk smash version. So excited. I have a switch that I'm about to mod with cfw. I have a tablet with a data plan for streaming GFN. I have a s23+ with amazing emulation capabilities. Instead of buying an Odin or the the new retroid... I'ma try this thing out.
I’m sorry (for me really) that it took the G8+ to discover your amazing content. Loved it from beginning to end and you gained a new subscriber! Keep up the amazing work! 🎉
This review made me get this controller! Its such an epic bit of kit. Paired with an s24 ultra, yuzu, winlator, native android games, all work flawlessly 🎉
I’ve been trying hard to not buy another game controller because I never use them once I buy them. But Vlad Sir you have sold me on this. Where’s my credit card
Nice review, ordered the Galileo on a slight sale, and then found out about this, so returned, and just ordered the G8 Plus, however the small time I used the other, it did have perfect feel and function. Also as far as comfort, I have been saying it since the Wii U Gamepad, wider controllers are more comfortable, they keep your arms in a more natural position!
G8+ is definitely awesome, but aside from having an audio jack, the G8 can charge your device while in use. Also, from the manual, if you charge the G8+ while in use/stretched, it will only charge the right side battery. You need to have it unstretched/folded to charge both. One neat feature the G8+ has gotten from the X4 Aileron, is when you open/stretch/attach the device the controller turns on and tries to reconnect to the last device. There's also a portion of the G8+ that seems to be peelable to allow better camera bump compatibility.
@@justsomephguy yup, I'm kicking myself for forgetting to mention that it automatically turns on when you stretch it. It's one of my fave features actually!
Wanted to try to charge both the tablet and the controller with one charger and a splitter, guess that doesnt work now. Can du use the usb c on the g8+ and connect it to the tablet. For little less latency?
I'm still waiting for them to release custom faceplates. When the Galileo released with the magnetic plates feature I thought that was a given but it never happened. That said the G8+ with the Galileo grey plates looks awesome, if I get one I will swap their colors.
You can actually purchase G8+ 2.4G wireless dongle for PC. I have this idea to attach this dongle to right angle type c to type a adapter and then attach it to the phone. Not sure whether this will work but if it is working this should solve latency issue from using bluetooth connection.
1. dongle most probably only work on PC 2. depending on polling rate modern bluetooth controller can be better than usb C 3. if you have access to your phone usb c, you can actually use the controller wired from the controller charging port to your phone
I bought the G8 plus before watching your video. Totally get the overpraising part when I am trying to "sell" this controller to my friends. The ONLY downside is that I cannot put a cooler behind the device. Reason for buying is because it can stretch to accomodate my 12.9" iPad pro, probably the only one in the market.
I bought the Galileo still haven't received it yet but it was right for my case I wanted the USB-C thing to give my phone the audiojack it didn't have plus the ability to charge it while playing or just not having to remove it because I'm lazy like that. This looks great but not for my use case (I got no tablet but a 2-1 laptop I use that's waaaay too big for these type of devices). One things for sure though... rather have it in black like this one.
Amazing video buddy, I have the gamesir x2 pro I wanted to like it but hate I had to take my case off my galaxy fold 4, I just order the Bluetooth and can't wait for it to arrive in two days
I meant to comment on this video about buying this controller for my y700 2023. As you suggested, I'll test it out before selling the Odin2. Always felt that Odin2 screen was kind of small for how powerful it is.

You're right, this is probably one of the best if not the best controller you can buy for all your devices. I game with my PC, switch, tablet and phone. However, the ONLY issue i have is my tablet is about 255mm in length, which this controller will not fit my tablet sadly. I was THIS close to ordering it when i saw your video
@Nisshio I saw a video about how easy is to plug off the middle part by force. I'm also searching for a controller for my new minisforum v3 which I want to replace with my legion go. I think there is no way to find out if it will be good as legion go unless i buy and try it. I also wonder how it feels to use it without attaching to a device, compared to dualsense controller.
I can confirm that it fits to minisforum v3 with seperating two parts. It does not grab like a phone or smaller tablet, but it works. With the default back cover of v3, it is worse and i would be careful. But it does not support pc over wireless which is a shame, you need a wireless dongle or you can connect it in ds4 mode and use a software like ds4windows for unsupported games.

I have it. It's very good. It feels more quality than Microsoft's Xbox controller. To get rumble on Android, it must be in Playstation DS4 mode. At least if you have Android 11 or lower. It's a limitation of Android. I know that newer Android (12+ or 14+?) is supposed to support rumble natively, so maybe it works there? Unfortunately, in DS4 mode, you don't get the detailed GameSir statistics about battery and configurability. But it's easy to switch back to Android mode to make changes. Oh and btw, patient people can recalibrate the joysticks and triggers. You need to do slow movements when calibrating to avoid miscalibrating it (which can make it worse). Doing it properly, it greatly improved the smoothness of the inputs for me (smoother movement, not a jumpy deadzone anymore). Oh btw, the battery life is really good. Which is a good thing, because you CANNOT charge it while playing! (When it's stretched out, it only charges one side of the controller's two batteries. So don't even bother trying.)

Hey man, thanks for reaching out, I'm always glad to help.❤️ Straight up, I use most of my controllers for either retro games or cloud games. Didn't play COD on mobile ever. But as far as I know, the GameSir app (which you should download because it allows you things like updating the controller firmware and calibrating the sticks), can more importantly, allow you to map buttons for modern Android games with on-screen buttons like COD. At least off the top of my head, I think it can do this (if it can't, other apps on the play store can, so no worries about this). By default though, some multiplayer games on Android might not allow players to play on a controller because it might give them an edge over other players, and these apps can work around that. Other games might put you in rooms with other players that use controllers, so this might vary. Anyway, let me know how it goes with the GameSir app. If you need any more help, I'm here for ya. ❤️
that and the g8 galileo is a great way to play the DS with touch on an android device (latest retroarch version fixed a very annying bug that touch and a usb connected didn't worked toghter)
There's not enough of a narrow handle at the bottom of each grip to hold on with your ring and pinky fingers. The right stick is too close to the right thumb. If the handles of the controller and placement of the right stick were similar to the 8bitdo Ultimate or Switch Pro controller, this would be a lot more comfortable. Unfortunately, it's a heavy, expensive discomfort and let-down. If I could return it for a refund, I would.
@auroradee9642 I have tried all 4 modes. It detects as a either as a pro controller or wireless controller but not "xbox controller". I heard there's a workaround to convert it to xinput but that's an extra step. Will try it myself
Nice vid and nice piece of hardware! Makes me wonder if changing my old Redmagic 6S Pro battery and getting this would make for a pretty capable handheld for "newer" consoles. For old ones 35XX-H would suffice. And no more Handheld Aquisition Syndrome!
I'd say yes. Personally, I never quite understood why controllers like these aren't more popular. It effectively modularizes what would be an Android handheld which can be upgraded over the years. :)
I received the controller it's great with an S9 tablet except that I don't have the vibrations when I play Xbox game pass or on GeForce now you know what to do thank you
Hadn't tried it with PUBG. I'm an old nerd, you see. I went directly for retro games the second I got this out of the box. 😆 The Bluetooth latency should be around 6ms or so (if memory serves me right). My reaction time wouldn't be that sharp to tell a difference tbh.
@VladNerd I can't get my G8+ to show up on my Y700 2023. How do I do it? Holding the "." Button and "A"(or down on abxy) it blinks Yellow but nothing shows up on my tablet or even my Samsung phone for "Gamesire G8+". help!
It has rumble issues, for example when firing a gun continuously after a second it just stops rumbling even after you are still shooting the gun it throws off the immersion is very annoying
Just got the Razer Edge... Tablet only, Courtesy of Discounted merch from Amazon warehouse... And pair it with the BSP D8 blue wireless controller... Or The GameSir X-4 Aileron Bluetooth Wireless controller... I am still waiting to see when the Lenovo legion Y700 dropped below $200... As the best 8" Android Handheld / Gaming Tablet...🙃😎
Hi Vlad question i bought the gamesir and it works in emulationstation-DE but when starting a game it says in retroarch Gamesir 8 not ready or something?
I’d rather save my phone’s battery for being a phone but I’d consider a telescoping controller whenever I get around to replacing my iPad Air 2 with a Mini 6 or 7.
Right trigger developed a grinding noise after 2 days of use. Reseller told me Gamesir refused to acknowledge this as a defective unit. Never again. Video on their twitter page
@@VladNerd Already tried. I never had this problem with any of my 10-30$ gamepads. Cant expect any customer service from these chinese companies. Once you paid them money its a done deal
How long does the battery last? I'm kinda interested in getting one, but I'm not sure if I should do it. I currently use a switch controller and play on my tablet with the controller used via Bluetooth.
Haven't drained it yet. 1000mah is a lot for a controller, so I expect it to last a long time (especially considering that it doesn't have things like RGB)
Depends if you want usb-c or Bluetooth, really. Personally, I love the Bluetooth one in this vid. I have a link to an Amazon listing in the description in case you're interested, btw
Now I want one of those... shame on you ;-) What about the "Easy SMX M10" you mentioned some time ago? No more love left for that one? I was looking forward to a video about it... actually bought one of those myself but it sort of feels as cheap as it is... maybe because it is as light as it is...
Nope, I still love it! That's my main controller for my phone, actually. I personally love the fact that it's light, makes the whole setup feel way more comfy in the hand. :) Regarding the vid, it's still on my to-do, it's just that I have other ideas patiently waiting for their vids as well. :(
g8 is goated. Not only we don't have to worry about the controller battery, if you use earbuds, that's another battery you don't have to worry about. it's an extension with no overhead. i would rather use a normal controller for docking purposes.
As Lenovo Legion Y700 2022 and Galileo G8 owner, I found this combination pretty useless, for two reasons. First - it is too heavy. Tablet + tablet case + gamepad are 780 grams, while switch oled + hori split pad compact (heavier than joycons) is 467. Second, maybe it is personal. Screen is too large to play this in hands. So I ended up playing on my tablet standing on the table, or hanging on the seat in front of me (in the airplaine), with external gamepad. 8bitdo SN30 Pro, because it is small and thin, very travelable. I'm thinking about to sell Galileo G8, because I don't use it with the phone either. Because it is more compact to bring PSP Go/New 3DS/GBA SP/Vita/RG405m with me, than G8. And yes, G8 Plus kind of solves this problem, being external and telescopic at the same time, but it is still too big.
@@VladNerd No wonder! This seems like a really great piece of a hardware! For now I'm sticking with my Gamesir X2 Pro, but in the future, who knows? I'm worried about one thing though. While I'm playing long hours on my "phonesole" I like having it attached to a charger in order not to have any low battery surprises. With Gamesir G8 Plus it is out of the question, right?
Yup. But Nubia releases a rebranded version of this one that usually comes in a nice smoked transparent black plastic. :) Keep in mind that Nubia has a higher markup. They're always around 20% more expensive than the (technically identical) GameSir variants. Because... Idk, transparent plastic is cooler, I guess. 😆
Can someone recommend me a good emulator for android tablet? Or you should get different program for different console? I'm interested in the PS1 PS2 and Dreamcast
@@netnomad47there is a way to disconnect the two halves of the controller to fit larger screens. I haven’t opened mine bc I just got it but I’ve seen it done on a YT video.
I mean, I get it, don't get me wrong. 😆 I just sort of adapted to low latency earbuds. I really used to be a wired headphones fan. My phone still has a 3.5 mm audio jack. Guess this controller just made me move on from that just a tad faster. 😆
They're pretty flush with the controller and clicky, personally I never had it happen. Then again, I'm a pretty thumbstick-oriented type of nerd and the dpad has always been secondary to me (unless I play the old retro consoles)
@@VladNerd Play Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo or any SNK game on a decent difficulty, film a video and let us know how that works for you. The d-pad is fine for basic movements, but precision is absolutely crucial in games like that. A good d-pad is one that you can find on the Ayaneo 2S or the Loki Max. These telescopic d-pads need a lot of work.

Any tips on how to connect to games like cod...im struggling to find games that work with this...I've tried with all 3 samsung devices but not letting me use....hope you can point me in the right direction. Thanks. Subscribed and I'll keep watching
Hey man, thanks for reaching out, I'm always glad to help.❤️
Straight up, I use most of my controllers for either retro games or cloud games.
Hi Vlad how does this controller compare to the much cheaper D8?
It's totally better in every way (provided you don't want to use it on anything bigger than 8 inch tablets)
What is that tablet that you're using? I was looking for something bigger than a phone.
It's the Y700 2023 from Lenovo. i have a link for it in the video description. :)
Love mine! Were you able to connect this via Bluetooth to your PC without the dongle?
Have you got confirmation on this? Someone said you could connect to pc with Bluetooth but I wanted a second opinion
@auroradee9642 I have tried all 4 modes. It detects as a either as a pro controller or wireless controller but not "xbox controller". I heard there's a workaround to convert it to xinput but that's an extra step. Will try it myself
@@AlfaM03 Thanks. This is good to know since I stream from my pc. Seems like it might need DS4Windows to convert it, but should work at least.
Soul Reaver!! 👌🏾💯
What emulator are you using in this video brother?
Great video can you tell me if we have the vibrations with the ps remote play on the ps5 games thank you very much
Nice vid and nice piece of hardware!
I received the controller it's great with an S9 tablet except that I don't have the vibrations when I play Xbox game pass or on GeForce now you know what to do thank you
What is the bluetooth latency like?
What about for shooters like PUBG? Any notable input delay compared to usb version?
Hadn't tried it with PUBG. I'm an old nerd, you see. I went directly for retro games the second I got this out of the box. 😆
The Bluetooth latency should be around 6ms or so (if memory serves me right).
I wish this was a hybrid of Bluetooth and usb c,for a lot of games. I just can't stand the latency
im using it with Ge Force Now+ galaxy tab s9 plus
All we need now is custom PlayStation face buttons
Heck yeah, those would be awesome.
What tablet are you using with it ? Whats the size ? Thanks !
It's the Lenovo Y700 2023, I have it linked in the video description.
Just got the Razer Edge...
Tablet only, Courtesy of Discounted merch from Amazon warehouse...
And pair it with the BSP D8 blue wireless controller...
Or
The GameSir X-4 Aileron Bluetooth Wireless controller...
Do you have to mod this one like the g8 to make it stretch wide enough for the lenovo y700 to fit in ?
I’d rather save my phone’s battery for being a phone but I’d consider a telescoping controller whenever I get around to replacing my iPad Air 2 with a Mini 6 or 7.
Loved your intro brother!
Right trigger developed a grinding noise after 2 days of use. Reseller told me Gamesir refused to acknowledge this as a defective unit. Never again. Video on their twitter page
That's weird. Never had this with any Gamesir controllers. Blowing some compressed air in the RT might help
@@VladNerd thanks for the reply mate. I may get it then using your link to support ya
is there any vibration on this device..?
Was about to buy the g8 for my s24 ultra, but now I discovered the g8 plus so unsure what one to buy
Depends if you want usb-c or Bluetooth, really. Personally, I love the Bluetooth one in this vid.
I have a link to an Amazon listing in the description in case you're interested, btw
Now I want one of those... shame on you ;-)
What about the "Easy SMX M10" you mentioned some time ago? No more love left for that one? I was looking forward to a video about it... actually bought one of those myself but it sort of feels as cheap as it is... maybe because it is as light as it is...
Nope, I still love it! That's my main controller for my phone, actually. I personally love the fact that it's light, makes the whole setup feel way more comfy in the hand. :)
Regarding the vid, it's still on my to-do, it's just that I have other ideas patiently waiting for their vids as well. :(
g8 is goated.
Hi, what emulator you were using for ps2?
Aetherpcsx2
What about extra latency on Bluetooth vs USB-C version?
Non existent
can it fit in an 11 inches tablet (Galaxy Tab S7) bro?
Hopefully they release grey sometime soon.
Does it work with windows pc via bluetooth?
Yup!
Is it safe to use a wall charger for gamesir g8+ controller
The battery never ran out for me to try, but I'd charge it with a regular charge just in case
So I've watched your video and I'm confused. Do you recommend buying this device or not? You should be more precise.
🤭😉
Nahhhh 😆
Seriously though, I love it more than I ever thought I would. It's crazy how much I'm enjoying this thing
Phonesole. I love this term. Stealing it for future videos. ❤️
Yup, you need to original Gamesir G8 Galileo (usb-c one) for passthrough charging.
@@VladNerdMy pleasure 😘 (with this stealing thing)
Have you tried the bsp d8 pro?
Wanted to order it tbh, but I'm trying not to overcrowd my house with controllers. 😆
What apps is that 12:27 ? ?
You must review the bsp d10,d10s and d11 its more affordable one
I'll think about it, thanks for the suggestion. 🍻
300+ grams yeah i might go with the abxylute s9
Is that the only colourway Vlad?
Yup. But Nubia releases a rebranded version of this one that usually comes in a nice smoked transparent black plastic. :)
Keep in mind that Nubia has a higher markup. They're always around 20% more expensive than the (technically identical) GameSir variants. Because... Idk, transparent plastic is cooler, I guess. 😆
@@VladNerd Thanks man
Does it work on Ps remote play
does this fit on legion go?
Not sure, the GO is a bit thicker. It fits the Y700 2023 though, which has the same display panel. :)
Vibration motors?!? Happy dance.
Is the DPAD still clicky?
Yeah, the same as on the G8.
@@VladNerd That's a bit non-optimal for my personal taste.
❤️👌🏼
This or the Gamesir X4 Aileron?
Depends on your usecase really. The Aileron is good if you want something more compact when you're out and about with it
In addition, If you want to use a mobile cooler, x4, if you don't need or want it, g8+
Can someone recommend me a good emulator for android tablet? Or you should get different program for different console? I'm interested in the PS1 PS2 and Dreamcast
Duckstation, NetherSX2, Redream
@@nameresu thank!!!
Is this compatible with Galaxy tab s9? It has an 11inch screen
Nope, sorry my guy. :(
It can only extend to tablets up to 8.8 inches (I mean, approximately)
@@VladNerd alright thanks for the info.
@@netnomad47there is a way to disconnect the two halves of the controller to fit larger screens. I haven’t opened mine bc I just got it but I’ve seen it done on a YT video.
Gamesir, Give him money!!!😂
@@MsOniHime i agree with this comment! ❤️
Techdweeb sent me here:)
Nice review 👌 but for the price I'll stick to a xbox controller
Only supports vibration on iOS, but not on Android
That's not true. Vibration works on PS2 on Android. :)
11:52 I was with you until you said this xD good follow up video but this was unnecessary
I will always perfer an audio jack before using a cringe usb-c adapter
I mean, I get it, don't get me wrong. 😆
I just sort of adapted to low latency earbuds. I really used to be a wired headphones fan. My phone still has a 3.5 mm audio jack.
Guess this controller just made me move on from that just a tad faster. 😆
@@VladNerd hahaha maybe i need the controller to move on from my addiction to having headphone jacks on all my devices as well xd
Those stupid buttons so close to the D-Pad are annoying as hell. Play some Marvel Vs Capcom games and you're guaranteed to hit them.
They're pretty flush with the controller and clicky, personally I never had it happen.
Then again, I'm a pretty thumbstick-oriented type of nerd and the dpad has always been secondary to me (unless I play the old retro consoles)
Yeah, but that d-pad is subpar.
The dpad is amazing tbh. I've touched many subpar dpads, this ain't one of those. 😁
#Vladtribe
I think I might just rename my Discord to this. 😄
@@VladNerd YES
Very good controller but the dpad is still sh1t. Waiting for 8bitdo to get off their asses and show everyone how it's done.
Paid review
I'd wish. Nope. I'm one of those not-so-smart people that do vids like these for free, straight out of passion.
I bought this controller with my own money (I would've disclosed otherwise) and trust me, if this controller would've been bad, I would've criticized the heck out of it. It just so happens that I love it to bits.
