    I can't tell you how often I will use this, Jeff! I have been lugging my workstation laptop around for years. When on vacation, I take my backpack full of stuff and set up for a few hours prior to my wife being ready to roll. This will be a game-changer! Thanks for providing all kind of productivity tools for this 65-year-old Revit user. Who would have thought, when I started using AutoCad on my 8088 computer (with floppy drives!) ....

      Would work really well for me - I do design for Brands like Volvo, Citroen, Jaguar Land Rover that means working on site and with managers who don’t view drawings everyday. To be able to show the model on screen with full movement would be huge boost and advantage

    So excited, as a new Revit designer I’ve thought about how there should be accessibility to Revit or Bluebeam on the go. Turns out that Revit wasn’t an option and Bluebeam app is more of a hassle. With this capability I believe some smoother sails are ahead. Thanks for the update and I can’t wait to get up to work on this option tomorrow!

    Thank you for sharing this! As an architect / consultant, this will allow Revit access in remote locations where the portability of the iPad pro on 5G can really be leveraged. Best advantages for anticipated use: 1. Rapidly switch between iPad apps and Revit; 2. Sharing the collaborative power of table-top tablet view with a client, contractor, or other stakeholder. 3. To be able to make Revit modifications live, in full view of team.

    What a great option! I would love to be able to use Jump Desktop to run Revit on my iPad. The massive size of our laptops really make them semi-portable desktops. The flexibility of using the iPad would allow for better collaboration with team members, owners, and clients. We work in 3d and then try to explain it all to others in 2d. Using the model itself would streamline the process and help to make us more efficient .

    This is awesome, i always wanted to model with revit on my ipad, i searched so much for something like this and never found it, since my working pc is stationary, the only thing i found to use the models with my clients was a360, but sadly we couldn't afford to make changes real time on the reunions, at least only in paper and not in the model! Such a game changer!!!

    This is insane! I am a South African Mechanical building services engineer and BIM manager for Triocon Consulting engineers. We are overseeing construction of a 21 floor residential building and being able to do inspections and make model adjustments on site using this workflow would be very helpful as one tends to forget some detail or need more context when problem solving off site requiring additional site visits, this flow would allow me to inspect and address the issue on site there and then. I'd love to use jump desktop to work remotely on residential projects at a local coffee shop. My current laptop battery isn't very good so I've been limited to about 45 minutes at best and buying a replacement is currently not an option. Jump seems way more promising than the Duet app I've tried in the past. Would love to try it out!

    • @TheRevitKid
      @TheRevitKid  Рік тому

      Cory, yes! Even when Jump Desktop running you will see much longer than 45 minute battery life out of an iPad haha… I haven’t tested but I have gone as long as 2 hours on jump desktop solely and I think it burned maybe 30-40% battery?

    Yes! This will change the game. Whilst I’ve been using my MacBook Air as a lightweight portable interface for years - remoting to my power PC. I love using the iPad Pro and magic keyboard onsite/out of the studio, but not being able to access and spin the model has been its Achilles heel. This is the solution I’ve been wishing for.
    Quick question - how does it manage a multiple monitor desktop setup?

    • @TheRevitKid
      @TheRevitKid  Рік тому

      So I suggest unplugging any additional monitors because I find it to be just easier to work with... All that being said, Jump Desktop lets you flip between all of your monitors (cycling) or showing all of the monitors at once. It's actually very nice... There is a keyboard short cut to cycle from monitor to monitor.

      @@TheRevitKid thanks Jeff - that makes sense. In truth, I’ve been using a remote access for so long, I reverted to a single monitor Revit setup years ago (even when I’m in-studio)… honestly, I got tired of clicking away with a dialogue open on the other screen :)
      Ooh, and the best news is Jump are having a Black Friday sale - NZ$12. Too good to pass up.

    Nice solution. However I been using Revit on iPad, iMac, Mac book for about 3 years. I use Shadow. And you don’t need your own Windows PC. It had a good price of 15€ month but 1 year ago they doble it but stills a fair price for the excellence of the service. On my 27 iMac, where i use revit everyday it’s like use it on a native windows computer. Zero lag (with a good connection). The funny thing is that they have a similar button in the same place as JumpD…😅 but you can hide it. Let me know if you need more info.

    This is great news! I have downloaded the iOS app for my iPad Pro, and while I near my Revit PC, I was able to successfully remote into the iPad and see my 3d model, spin it, look at all the different views in the Project Browser… However, now that I am away from the PC, when I remote into the PC, I can everything but the actual ‘working / live’ part of the screen is just blank white. Hovering my Logitech mouse on the blank white area pops up the info in the Properties box, so I know I am touching a window for example, or a wall. Even the 3d navigation cube is missing?? When I try a print preview, the model shows up, ready to print..
    Any issues like this for anyone? Any ideas? I am very much looking forward to sitting with clients in a meeting and showing them their custom house design in all its Revit 3d glory…
    Any help or ideas very much appreciated. A google search came up with pretty much nothing… THANKS!

      @@TheRevitKid SOLVED! At first when I was testing it, I was nearby and the computer and screen were both on and awake. When I left the building to test remotely, I had turned the monitor power button off (habit, to save energy/ save the screen). Turns out that was the problem.
      It doesn’t make sense to me, but the fact is that my PC monitor must be ON in order to ‘broadcast’ the working/live/ workspace portion of Revit. It still works correctly if the monitor goes into screensaver mode, as long as the monitor is powered ON. I have an HP monitor connected to a custom purpose-built computer. Hopefully this can help others. This a very productive tool for client meetings. Thanks again for sharing with us.

    I'm the Director of Operations for a small firm in Cleveland OH, we current all have towers in the office, and use surfaces on the go. I find that the surface model is very lacking. Battery life is short, and the tablet functions are constraining. I recently got myself an Ipad pro, and have fallen in love, the pencil gives the ability to sketch + diagram within the digital world seamlessly. I see so many benefits to the ipad in an Architecture office, except the shortfall that IOS is not compatible with Revit. This video was very exciting for the possibilities of finding a way to integrate ipad into our office and phase out the archaic surface model. I would love to give Jump Desk a test run to see if it is compatible with out current systems and hopefully implore us to make a change in hardware to allow us to design freely on an ipad as the profession deserves.

    Hi! I'm so happy I found your video. Even if I'm here a couple of years later :) I was wondering if it's possible for the Ipad to host Revit, rather than jump desktop? I don't have a lot of resources to buy an Ipad plus also a laptop to host the Revit. The laptops I have not are 7 and 10 years old, so the hardware is significantly outdated. I was looking for something portable like an I pad or perhaps a surface, with the added benefit of touch screen. But reviewing the specs I see that the dedicated graphics are borderline for Revit. If I want something with a better graphics card, then I have to sacrifice touch screen and portability, and go with a clunker, lol. I might still have to, or maybe I should get two "middle of the road" devices, an I pad and a laptop? I would greatly appreciate your comments.

      @TheRevitKid  Рік тому +1

      You cannot run Revit on an iPad or Mac natively. If we are doing small projects only you can get away with a more budget friendly machine. A dedicated graphics card is 100% a bare minimum… you’ll thank me later.
