I appreciate you watching and thank you so much for commenting. I do my best to always show products I recommend and I will never recommend anything I don’t actually use in my shop 🤟🏼
I've been hesitant to buy a thin rip jig for years. Finally pulled the trigger and got the one from your link for $27, delivered. Thanks, man. Just subscribed.
I really appreciate it. I actually used mine today to rip down some slats for the new beginners series that will be posting on Friday. It works just like it is supposed to and for the price, you can’t beat it
I appreciate that. I try to do one Amazon tools video a month and every other Friday we do a beginners series. Hopefully you subscribe and you’ll check them all out 🤟🏼
You’re welcome and thank you so much for watching. I try to do one of these a month. Hopefully subscribed and you can catch some of my other content as well 🤟🏼🤟🏼
Yep… there’s plenty of items on Amazon I wouldn’t buy but that doesn’t mean everything there is junk. And the great thing is, they will take anything back for any reason 🤟🏼🤟🏼
Based on watching this video, I purchased the thin rip jig from Amazon. It will be perfect for a number of projects I am doing that require thin stock.
I really appreciate it and thanks for always watching and commenting. Don’t forget… Later today is episode six of the beginners series. I think this is a good one this week
I wanted a thin rip jig a few years ago. So I built one from various small pieces ( I don't have scrap wood, I have small pieces left over from other projects ) I had on hand, a roller blade bearing that I had and a star knob that I had. Zero cost. Works perfectly. Same for the corner clamps. Baltic Birch ply triangles in 3/4" with some holes drilled to allow use of quick squeeze clamps. Not too hard to cut a square and cut it on the diagonal. Zero cost. Many ways to work with a small budget.
I try to build my own jigs but I thought I’d give this one a try and I’m glad I did. It’s really nice. Thanks for the comment and hope we see you again👍🏼
My only complaint is having to sharpen it vs a mechanical pencil always has a fine point. But since the lead is thick, I haven’t broken it one time yet. 🤟🏼🤟🏼
Appreciate the information. It's very helpful, and please ignore that person comment about it being a 13-minute commercial. There's no need to attack. If he doesn't like watching, he can move on to next video. This helps us who are starting in woodworking and are on a budget. We sometimes don't have the time to look, and these types of videos are helpful, so thank you
Those people don’t bother me at all. He actually did say here’s a thumbs up to help your algorithm so maybe it wasn’t so much attack as he just didn’t like this type of video. Thank you so much for your support and your comments

I’m sure we can get something similar here as well!! A lot of people love the carpenter pencils, others prefer mechanical. I’m on the mechanical side. Thank you for commenting 🤟🏼
Brilliant upload, NuKraft Workshop - Woodworking & Furniture Rehab. I pounded the thumbs up marker on your upload. Excited to see more content from you. Keep up the excellent work.
Is there a good blade to use on table saw to re saw reclaimed wood that got some nails in it that I can’t get out the wood is 3 x 6 x12 pallet wood that someone broke down
I use a spider blade in my skill saw that’s made to hit nails and keep on going very good blades , but the 10 inch spider blades for table saw doesn’t say anything about wood / nails I picked up one to try
An old used blade that you don’t care about any longer 😂😂😂 Plenty of PPE as well 😳 Carbide tipped is gonna be better but I would find another way to get it out before running over any type of blade
Those are great suggestions. I have the Goingmake thin rip jig, and it works perfectly. I set it up against the proud tooth rather than the saw blade body. You can make a stack of shims, or edge banding in minutes. The bearing only rolls one direction which is a really nice safety feature. Got the red version because it's easier for me to read for some reason. I've been back and forth with all kinds of pencil types over the years, and have tried out a similar version as you showed here, and they're all okay, but I always get dragged back to the very expensive Blackwing pencils. They're so sweet. Especially if you're highlighting your marking knife scores. I think that they are made for artists, and they have special sharpeners, but I just use my old schoolhouse manual pencil sharpener and it works just fine. I have the corner clamps, but I just use squeeze clamps to attach them rather than fiddling with the clamps that come with it. They maybe good for small more detailed projects though. I ended up just making a larger version out of plywood that I stacked together. Thicker, longer, and stronger. Yeah, baby! :-) I am going to get the panel carrier, and double sided tape today. Those are great deals. Thank you.
Thanks for watching and I appreciate comments like this. The thin rip jig is awesome and the bearing is a great safety feature. I ripped down a ton of material the first day I got it just to see how accurate and easy it works. I think people will be happy with that one. Some people think a pencil is a pencil… And I get it but this particular pencil is nice and I do love the thickness and durability of the lead that comes with it
I really appreciate it. I got those aluminum ones about a week ago and I couldn’t believe the quality and precision… Not just for the price, but in general
@@NuKraftWorkshop They are very precise. I just wish that they would make a lager version. I ended up making my own out of stacked together plywood, but I would prefer to use metal of any sort, but I don't work with metal yet.
Good list. I have different versions of all of those, except the pencil. I'm not a fan of the thick leaded PICO styled pencils, as they have to be sharpened way too often to keep a "precision" point. IMO, the GraphGear 1000 line are the best mechanical pencils available. Always a precision point, and no sharpening ever required. Thin rip jigs are nice, but zero them on a tooth rather than the flat of the blade.
I appreciate the comment and I will have to check out that pencil. Agree to zeroing on the tooth for more precision… The stuff I cut in my shop never requires that precision, but you are correct 🤟🏼🤟🏼
If you’re not moving the fence I’m going to assume that your cutoff material is falling off on the right side (between the blade and the fence)… Is that correct?
I’m showing $26.99 for the Amazon jig and $39.99 for the one on woodcraft… if you’re seeing a different price on Amazon, here’s a current link. As far as quality, they are fairly equal. I would save the $13 as they both do exactly what they’re supposed to do amzn.to/46LJmLD
@@NuKraftWorkshop to be technically correct it’s double adhesive tape. It was a running joke at the Florida school of woodworking. thanks for reading the comments.
I didn’t take it too serious 😂. I figured you were joking, although there are comments on here that show just how petty some people can be!! 🤟🏼🤟🏼 I really do appreciate you watching and commenting
@marctkoppell you’re welcome. That jig is wonderful and for the price, there’s nothing out there that’s any better. I am super surprised that they have not raised the price on that router bit set yet. Right at $12 each for Freud bits… That’s a crazy deal
Just a tip, look for factory refurbished tools. This usually means that a real repair technician looked over and repaired the tool. I got my router for 1/2 price on EBay, factory refurbished, factory packaged and with zero problems. Just another way to save $$$.
The recommendations I do here is not always solely based on price. If you look at the rockler unit, it does not even have numbers/measurements where the marks are. The woodcraft unit was in my shop and I returned it as it felt a little flimsy even when locked down. The bearing at the front of the unit I recommended off of Amazon only rotates in one direction offering a little more safety against things like kickback. But good for noticing… we appreciate your support
I will see what I can find. Drillbits are one of those things that I usually buy namebrand… Some of the lower end bits that are offered on Amazon aren’t the best but I could definitely do a review of four or five of the more common brands that you find it the big box stores 👍🏼
If you are making a bunch of shorter thin repeatable pieces there's a girl with a jig that's really more easily repeatable and safer than the jigs you can buy
DIY Montreal is the channel, "5 super simple woodworking jigs that’ll make your life easier" is the video that you want. Her thin strip cutting jig is great!
Nice but if you want to give advice to new woodworkers you should be encouraging them to make use of their newly acquired skills to make jigs, and not encourage them to spend money on simple builds that consume scrap. Additionally a far more "PRECISE" pencil that is much cheaper than the "Woodworkers Pencil" is a simple mechanical pencil. These are much cheaper at the beginning and end of the summer months due to school. Please remember that your advice is only helpful if it is practical and accurate.
I appreciate the view and the thumbs up but I am sorry to hear that you viewed the video that way. Yes, I do these videos to generate a little income for our channel but as I stated in the video, I believe in these products, I use these products And I think I did a pretty good job of explaining how they work and why they are such a value compared to the name brands 👍🏼
