-Our Intro Song "Feel the Love" From Alex's band
open.spotify.c...
This is my generation's music. I came of age in the 70s and I'm SO HAPPY I did. We had the best music. Can you imagine what it's like to be 65 and still rockin' to Led Zeppelin?? Thank you guys so much for playing songs without stopping, then reacting. Help keep classic rock alive forever!! Love you guys so much - you definitely understand music.
I'm right there with you brother
✌️🙂
Agree! Our era just expected great Rock all the time because it waa delivered to us over and over again and from every direction! Poor younger people!
I'm right there with you. This music never gets old.
Brothers, let us not forget that the '70s also delivered to us, Paul Anka's "(You're) Having My Baby," as well as Rick Dee's immortal "Disco Duck"
I’ll be 64 in July. I used to play this cassette to death my first year in college
A&A, you'll love their "Swingtown" and "Rock 'n Me" !!! Steve's godfather was Les Paul, was one of the pioneers of the solid-body electric guitar. Les Paul and Mary Ford were a married superstar musical group, both playing guitar and singing.
That’s awesome! Never knew that! 😮
Never knew that- thanks
@@actuariallurker9650 you're welcome
T-Bone Walker, one of the pioneers of modern blues, and a friend of Steve's dad, starting teaching a nine year old Steve Miller how to play the guitar behind his head.
Hashtag Today I Learned!
Just watched this guy in Dallas last weekend in 104 degree weather and for an 81 year old man he can still rock it hard!
Steve Miller knows how to do the thang, he does the thang, we like the thang.
So many others don't know how to do the thang.
He's soooooo good in concert! Everybody sings every song out loud. So fun!
Lots and lots more of Steve Miller band!! 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
There is no sitting down at a Steve Miller concert. Every song is a Rocker! Thanks Fellas. Cheers!
I don’t sit down at any concert I attend!
I had a religious experience at a Steve Miller concert!
@@jannsmart7005 right
Such a fun, nutty, perfect song. Brings back so many memories of being a kid and just enjoying hearing fantastic new music every week. That was the 70s, young'ns. Oh! Yeah!
the steve miller band is the definition of a good time. you can't help tapping your toes, snapping your fingers and smiling the whole way through a show. his greatest hits album is just that, not a clunker in the bunch.
Rhythm n' Strats!
This played at every single college party I went to, even decades after it was released.
Frankly, I'm a little surprised you made it through college without ever hearing this one!
Haha we are SO much older than these guys. Rock is mostly dead unless it's numetal/doomrock, power pop or whatever.
Love that whistle at the beginning...and the end...
THIS is a proper summer song... sun's out, windows down, driving to The Shore.
He always leaves you in s great mood! So much fun!
These are some of the best rock songs in history... they are A+ - S all day long, and when the pool of great songs starts fading away theres no going back... so please give these classic songs the real grades they deserve & no more nit-picking of a 99% perfect song !
I've listened to this song a million times and always enjoy it. But this time, knowing you guys are getting ready to react, I found myself listening closer. What really struck me this time was the harmonic arpeggio he hits in the 3rd chorus (When everything's peaches and cream). I don't know why I never really appreciated that before.
One of the most underrated guitarist, steeped in blues
SO FUN.......The perfect description of their music.
Man the 70's rocked!
Yes it did!! 🔥
I was just luke warm about Steve Miller until I saw him in concert in the 90s. Great show, he is a phenomenal guitarist and was really bluesy. I was there as a cynical music reviewer and he won me over.
This album was 1 of 11 that I purchased for $.01 Columbia House in 1977? Steve Miller was the first concert I took my kids to see in early 2000s at Wolf Trap in VA. SMB rocks.
The SMB has never been one of my favorites.
Not only did Steve Miller Band never call in sick, they'd often take another guy's shift
Steve had plenty of hits that rocked our world. The Stake is a great deep cut that jams.
The Steve Miller Band was so consistently good, I can’t think of many songs that would rate below an A.
Abracadabra. 😂
@@radar0412 I said I can’t think of “many” LOL. I chose my words carefully 🤣 (Abracadabra does quite suck!)
@@jcroston3266 I know you did. I couldn't help myself. 😂
@@jcroston3266Yeah, but believe it or not, it was a co #1 with Chicago on Casey Casums top 40. I think it stayed there for 1 or 2 weeks. I remember it to this day.
This band is so underrated and so solid. I was able to catch them live in a very casual setting, up close and personal and they were fantastic.
I love this song, it always lifts my spirits and my mood. ❤
Definitely one of Steve’s best!
Need to listen to this for 8 years,, or 20 years, or for ever
Multiple layers
Many experiences
Makes all sound awesome
his mercury blues is a banger!
My younger brother got invited to a Steve Miller concert somewhere around 1990. Afterwards he told me, "I only went because I was invited. I liked Steve Miller OK but never really thought I was a fan. Then the concert started and about a half hour later I realized that I knew all the words to all the songs. I guess I was a fan and didn't know it."
Lots of fun was too be had during this time. Bonfires in the middle of nowhere, with the best car stereo available. Lovely times.
So lucky to have been alive when this was played regularly on the radio.
My favorite song by Steve Miller!
When ever I hear this song I think of “Everybody Loves Raymond”.
Me too!
can't think of it without thinking of robert dancing
A proper banger is right on. A+, glad you both liked this one. I really hope you will also do "Billion Dollar Babies"-Alice Cooper and "King of Pain"-The Police from this poll...eventually. Thanks guys!✌
King of Pain is an awesome tune!
u will always know the song 2 secs in. Adore this song and the BAND ! saw them live 40 yrs ago didnt know how lucky I was at the time as they werent the headliners !
Guys, Serenade is A Cooker! Just Rocks! A Must Hear!
I can't tell you how much I appreciate that you don't stop the jams and say stupid shit about what you're reminded of... I'll keep watching your posts as long as y'all keep reacting in this manner... you're great!!! Thanks!!!
Another great song from the 70's!
I love the horse whistles sprinkled throughout!
When I was a kid growing up this album's songs were on the radio every day. What great music to grow up listening to. Such a great album too.
Highly suggest “Living in the USA” for another fun Steve Miller song
Love Steve Miller Band!
@Andy & Alex -
Thanks for all the great reviews & reactions over the years!
Steve Miller was raised in an environment of Rock & Roll royalty. His real life God Parent is the IMMORTAL LES PAUL!!!
Yes, that Les Paul - The guitar creator extraordinaire!
I think as you explore SMB music you'll be impressed with his versatility. I highly recommend checking out one of his earliest charting songs "Living in the USA".
All the best,
Mo-
Thanks, Andy! Thanks, Alex! 💎 I can't describe how much I loved this one when I was 9.... and it's still delightful. #AndyAndAlex #SteveMillerBand #JungleLove
Rock radio in the 70s used to be so fun. Always a party anytime of day.
It's like they told the bass player, "Key of A", and he just went off and did his own thing. 😎
If memory serves Steve came up via the Chicago blues scene. He's a serious blues player ❤️
He was Muddy Waters guitarist for awhile
One of Steve Miller's best lines--"You treat me like I was your ocean, you swim in blood when it's warm." Got a nice smile from Alex it seems.
Again, I'll recommend for next time--"Livin in the USA" Yall like harmonica and it has some of the best of that you'll ever want to hear.
It's never really summertime till I've heard this song.
FUN!! Haven't listened to this in forever - love it. ♥♥♥
I saw Steve Miller Band with Jethero Tull as the main act around 2000. Great concert. Both were great
Saw them 5 times in the early 70tys open air summer time great fun by all
Top 3 live show. Great concert!
I miss the good old days when they did 70s rock with JAMS
Song came out 3 years prior to Whole Foods existence. Have a great weekend boys! L💞ve from Canada.
THIS is the way to start the weekend!! 😁🤙🙌🫶
Seasons, Going to the Country, Wintertime, I Love You.
Steve Miller won’t win any prizes for his lyrics, but his songs are filled with catchy hooks.
This is such a fun, playful song. I’ve always loved the hell out of it.
Turn it up to 11. The true test of a song is if you still enjoy it as much decades from now after hundreds of listens and I guarantee you will with this one.
Classic rock.
Saw SM open for the Eagles at Folsom Field at U of CO in Boulder in the Summer of '78. GREAT day
This is driving me wild and making me crazy love you guys
Better lyrics cannot be written! ❤ 🔥
Would have preferred the slow saucy WILD MOUNTAIN HONEY. Its a fan deep cut
When I was 13, this was the first album I ever bought myself. I got it the week it was released.
Great one. If you didn't know, Steve Miller was mentored by Les Paul. Steve is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His parents were close friends with Les and his wife, and Les was his godfather.
Steve Miller was making awesome sound with the synthesizer, in the 70s, way before most artists got the grasp of it, in the 80s.
"Living in the USA" is probably Steve Miller's best song. It's a lesser known track, but it's a certified banger. You should absolutely check it out next.
Somebody get me a cheeseburger. 🇺🇸😎
"Living in the USA" was the original first time listener song by Miller for most of the Kids back in the day.
From the first LP I ever bought in 1977. Walked into a Peaches Records & Tapes, a defunct chain that operated stores the size of grocery stores with ANY album of ANY genre you could possibly consider. They had a turntable, a 1000 watt Crown amp and massive JBLs spread through the store and this album was cranked. I had heard it on the radio but hearing this at volume with those subtle delays on the vocals, drums and guitar sounded MASSIVE in that space. The next song on the album Electro Lux Imbroglio / Sacrifice is a song few have heard but also has that sense of space and a killer guitar solo along with great lyrics. Of course, there's other hits on there as well. The Stake. Swingtown. True Fine Love. Threshold / Jet Airliner. As another theme, you should start reviewing "originals" -- the original versions of songs that fostered much more widely known hits when covered by other artists. Jet Airliner by Paul Pena would be a great first edition.
yep about a year ago local antique store was closing got a few records and peaches crate back in the day you could put record on store system today headphones but yeh they had nice system back then
First time I heard this song was several years ago me and my sister set up my moms record player and speakers from college and after hours trying to make it work we finally got it working and my mom put this record on and just hearing that opening riff for the first time sent chills down my spine and we all danced ahh good times
windows down- grocery getter- besties - jammin to Steve Miller!!!
The Stake off Dreams album is a killer under the radar tune that is always appreciated when heard but not remembered due to relative to position to his other hits. Plus its core blues that doesn't hit all market ears...
The Stake is hot! It is a real shame that it’s under the radar. That and True Fine Love.
We need to get you guys to hear a full Steve Miller Band album.
Steve Miller Band had tons of hits, my favorite being "The Stake."
This dominated FM radio in 1977.
Part of the official “road-trip play list” for young people everywhere back in the day. Banger indeed. In fact you’d just play Steve Miller Greatest Hits in its entirety.
Great music from a better time.
Great selections this week. Have a great weekend everyone!!
My memories said I pulled Steve Miller out of the 8 track in the car, pushed in J Geils Full House Live, cracked open another brew and kept driving... 😄
patting out of nervousness?....BEST LINE EVER! LOL
GIVE yourselves a present 🎁. Give listen to "Living in the USA" ancient Miller Rocker, with pretty sweet Harmonica!
I used to play this on my show in college, was a very a very fun song..
Other duties I had were reviewing and programming new music and running the record library (it was the peak of vinyl music)...it was my nirvana!
Best and MOST underrated song on that album is "Electro Lux Imbroglio/Sacrifice" HANDS DOWN...genius!! Oh, followed by THE STAKE....great three-play there...
One of my favorites by The Steve Miller Band. The whole album is great. Add Swingtown and In The Wintertime to react to.
I've always thought about Steve Miller as the garage band version of Boston.
This song brings back to me the memory of skating with my friends on the local indoor skating rink when I was 16 and 17 years old in 1977 and 1978. Steve Miller's album "Book of Dreams" that contains this song was released in May 1977. That's when I was very ill and didn't do any skating until late 1977 and the first few months of 1978. The DJ at the rink would also play "Blue Bayou" from Linda Ronstadt's album "Simple Dreams" which was released in September 1977. As an aside, "Jungle Love" was sometimes played during the opening credits of the sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond."
Awesome! So happy you finally got around to this!
One of the things I always loved about this song is Steve is constantly riffing-not just hitting power chords over and over-but throwing cool riffs in between strums. Gives this song a lot of energy and motion. 👍🎸
Fun song for a Friday afternoon guys thanks!
"I got a fevah and the only cure is more cowbell".... Great song...
Don’t overthink just enjoy! 😎😂😎
Steve Miller is one of the best song writers. He’s received awards for it!
Guy did great party/bar songs.
And he’s still killing it! I just bought tics for Sept.
Line up "Wild Mountain Honey", "The Stake" and "Seranade"... 😎
Steve Miller is a good singer guy who has been a great guy who has been a great guy to be a good guy with
Top tier songwriting and performance! As a kid rehearsing vocals I'd sing with this, and I also realized how similar Steve and Ace's (Frehley) voices were LOL
Saw them love in 96 at Eastern Washington University. The love show was over 3 hours and a mix of classics and some jamming blues. Still one of the best concerts I have seen.
Ohh yeah .. another Friday jammer! Man Andy absolutely love that idea about adding the cowbell .. HECK YES! Alex I honestly didn't even notice the tambourine. But I always notice your observance with Andy. Love y'all's banter. A+ for me here on this great track from the Steve Miller Band. Cheers Gents 🥃🤘🏼🥃🤘🏼🥃🤘🏼
Now that you're back to some bangers it's about time you check out something from one of the greatest live albums ever -THE WHO's Live at Leeds. Young Man Blues, My Generation, Amazing Journey, Magic Bus... one banger after another. NO band play with such raw power and energy at that time.
Have that vinyl album sitting over here on the shelf near my desk. After that I had to slap it on and blast it. Woke up my son who was taking a nap. I told him to blame you guys.. lol.
