That's not Foghat touring. Lonesome Dave died quite some time ago, and he was the heart and soul of Foghat. I think Roger Earl is the only original member. It's a Foghat tribute band.
@@sfbayareagirl @rick farrell YES! Great song. It took me a minute to think of any others. Definitely that and "Fool For The City" were the other two that came to my mind.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome...FOGHAT!!!" One of the few bands that are superior live .. suggest "Foghat Live"...Fool for the City, Honey Hush and an epic Slow Ride show closer... great live band.
Excellent tune but you absolutely need to check out their "Fool For The City." Also there's "Stone Blue" (Long version mandatory) with an epic slide guitar.

SOOOO disappointed that you did the radio cut of this song. There's an 8:00 version of this that's SOOO much better.🤨😢 You said at the end that it had a perfect fade out. The 8:00 version doesn't HAVE a fade out. It has a crazy rising guitar BLITZ to end it. It also has a bass solo(sort of) in the middle that kicks ass. You NEED to go listen to that version and you'll wish you'd gone with THAT one. Imagine listening to a version of The Spirit of Radio where they cut out the opening guitar riff and the reggae-like part and guitar solo. THAT'S what THIS was like.

Back in the day (so many years ago) and for those who can remember, the a.m. radio and the FM versions of the same song. They definitely short changed themselves by listening to the shortened a.m. radio version.
yeah they accidentally posted the short version that's god-awful made for radio. it's like Donna Summer when someone puts up the three minutes of Love to Love You baby versus the original 16 and 1/2 minutes of ecstasy on the original album.. I guess they just can't hold out that long lol
Wait ...what!? I was just telling my wife, "This ending is going to BLOW THEIR MINDS!" Then it faded out!? That's like fading Stairway in the middle! Gotta listen to the whole thing!
Foghat (a euphemism for getting high,) I.e. “put your foghat on”. The band had a few hits but Slow Ride was probs their biggest. Fool For The City was another good one. Both from 1975. I Just Want To Make Love To You was another good one from 1972.
Actually, according to their website, the name came from a nonsense word Dave Peverett made up during a scrabble game with his brother when they were kids.
Todd Addison - I never really even thought about what the name meant, it was just always there. Your explanation sounds pretty plausible even if the official story is that it came from a scrabble game. Both explanations could be true: it could’ve arisen in a scrabble game and then they applied it to their other extracurricular activities! 😉
Todd Addison glad you enlightened them because I was going to do it. I guess the meaning is easy for us since we’re from that generation, but the first thing that comes to my mind automatically is getting loaded. 😁
Really wtf...damn should have done the 8 min version...saw them back in 73 with the Edgar Winter Group in Montgomery, Al..was cool as hell from what I remember..but then you guys didn't know...
back in the late seventies I worked as a carnie in Colorado, New Mexico Wyoming. I was in charge of what we called the roller rocket. after every body was slung in And I started the ride slowly I would put the tape of this in. People loved it, and the song was the same length as the ride! great memories, thanks.
Every time I hear this song I think of the ending of the movie Dazed and Confused when the kid slips on his headphones to listen to this. Also Foghat is named after a game one of the band members made up when he was a kid.
Yeah guys- y’all short-changed yourselves BIG time- The longer 8 minute version offers waaay more-would love to see a second reaction to it- there’s that much of a difference, that it’s worth it a second round- 💛💛🤘🏼✌️
The sexual nature of this song really needs the full version to get it across. I am biased however, in a personal way. I had a good friend who was a knockout when we were in high school and college. She had a thing for cops. So one night, when she had been in professional life for a few years she told me some years later that she and her cop boyfriend were doing it in the front seat of his off duty cruiser while this song was thumping in the background. She was scared she'd set off his rifle, which she was straddling as well. Can't be any other picture in my head from now on.
I was Foghat`s driver back in 93`. I had a blast ! All 4 original members. Tour bus, Hotels, Back stage, Private Parties ! I`m 63 now and will never forget them.
"Slow Ride" has nothing to do with travelling down the road. C'mon guys. You've got to get out more! lol... and until you hear the album version, the "ride" is nothing but a "quickie".
That movie is exactly how it was when I graduated in '75. Keggers wherever and pretty much everybody smoked pot...in school or on school grounds. I don't remember hazing freshman or being hazed but what a fun movie.
Ahh, 10th grade in 1974, watching the girls gym class in action in their TIGHT gym shorts! You should hear the LONG version of Slow Ride!. It blows this one away!
Definitely go with "Fool for the City". Their live version of "Honey Hush" is also incredible. Also, a later song of their that is really good is "Live Now - Pay Later".
Foghat touring to support its Fool For The City album was my very first concert, 1976. Kalamazoo, Michigan. Wings Stadium. The warmup band, freaking Bob Seeger and the Silver Bullet Band. Good times. Much that won't be discussed publicly, lol.
Very underrated band. I just Wanna Make Love to You, Fool For the City, Third Time Lucky, Drivin' Wheel, Eight Days on the Road, Ride Ride Ride, Honey Hush, Stone Blue, Home in My Hand, Chateau Lafitte '59 Boogie...to name a few...
This song has been played in movies, tv shows, commercials, video games and on the radio for forever. I don't see how people haven't heard it before. Lol
I worked on a tow boat hauling barges on the Ohio River when this released. Naturally it got a LOT of air play. Riding the river our music was dialing in to local stations as one faded and another built. Ashland Kentucky to Paducah to Pittsburgh and back again we must have caught this song 10-15 times a day. Now every time I hear it I’m back on the Valvoline cruising the river.
The name "Foghat" came from band member "Lonesome Dave" Peverett when he was just a kid. He was playing the game Scrabble with his brother, and it just came to him. He thought it would be a cool band name... However, you guys MUST listen to the long version! It's got an amazing bass solo in it.
I was Foghat`s driver back in 1993. I would drive to their hotel and pick them up and take them to their show. Really cool dudes ! Lots of partying back stage and on the tour bus !
“I Just want to Make Love To You” is the first song I ever heard from them and maybe my favorite overall. "Honey Hush" on their live album is a true banger--same riff as "Train Kept a Rollin"". "Fool for the City" is good but a lower tier in my eyes compared to these other two. BTW, three of these guys left Savoy Brown when it was an early (late sixties) blues rock British band you guys should check out some time--try "Hellbound Train" and "Tell Mama" for starters.
Foghat "Fool for the City" is a must. Other contenders "I Just Want to Make Love to You", "Honey Hush", "Stone Blue", "Take It or Leave It", "Chateau Lafitte '59 Boogie"
Foghat rocked back in the day. Dave Peverett ("Lonesome Dave") on guitar and vocals with Rod Price on slide guitar were a live band you did not want to miss because they could jam. This from Wiki "Foghat" (a nonsense word from a Scrabble-like game played by Peverett and his brother[5]) in January 1971. There is a cartoon drawing on the back cover of the group's first album of a head wearing a foghat. Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin wore a white foghat for a short time during 1970 in concert. Now a days the word Foghat is A euphemism for getting high on marijuana.
Back when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth, there was a little place in Orlando called the Tangerine Bowl then it was called the citrus bowl, the Orange Bowl then it was called tinker field, now it's gone and a soccer field is there). Every year, they hosted something called the Super Bowl of Rock. Three bands a day for 3 Days, $9 a day. (Lo-dough shows) I saw Foghat journey and Kansas on a Saturday and it was a blast!
Foghat was the ultimate 70s jam band! Great review guys! They were no new comers to the game when this was recorded! They were already well established as Savoy Brown!
I went to a concert that was headlined by the Edgar Winter Group who had the hit Frankenstein and They Only Come Out At Night. Foghat was the opening act and just played one of the best concerts I've ever seen and heard. They were so good that they blew the doors off the Edgar Winter Group. EWG started with a few songs unknown to anyone in the audience and when it was time to play Frankenstein the crowd was almost hostile. They started playing Frankenstein. It played and played. It was like being in an episode of The Twilight Zone. EWG really only had 2 songs. We left cussing EWG and praising Foghat.
Oh my God. One of my all time favorite bands. My first concert was Foghat, Montrose, and Image. I was around about 13 years old at the time. I think tickets were $3.50, $4.50, and $5.50 at the Municipal Auditorium in San Antonio. So many good songs to choose from. Eight Days on the Road (their heaviest in my opinion), Rock and Roll Outlaw, Hole to Hide In, Dreamer, Stone Blue, Night Shift, Take Me to the River, Just Want to Make Love to You, Fool For The City. I could go on and on. Do yourself a favor if you're not familiar with Foghat listen to them. Quintessential 70's rock at it's finest. Get hold of the DVD "Foghat Live: Two Centuries of Boogie". All original members and one of the last concerts (at least recorded concerts) before Lonesome Dave passed. Not too terribly long after that Rod Price passed. One of the absolute best slide guitar players ever. Every member of that band were awesome musicians. Miss those guys. Another suggestion, UFO. I'm going to suggest "Rock Bottom" (you won't be sorry) to start, but once again, so many great songs.
TOMORROW we are going to be posting a special upload for you guys!! Gonna do our best to keep delivering quality content in these crazy times! See you there!! 🤟🏻🔥

You have to do Molly Hatchet Flirtin’ With Disaster, 1979. You won't regret it.
Put on your list “Frankenstein” and “Free Ride” by the Edgar Winter Group.
HELL YEAH!!!
I suggested this very song Frankenstein, and Free Ride months ago to these guys... Good luck with that.
Frankenstein is a pinnacle of rock history
mrunderhill40 Been asking for Frankenstein on almost every video they do. I'm sure they'll do it sooner or later.🤞
Bom-bom bom-bom b'b'bombom, bombom bom b'dododododo
😂
Even FM radio was playing the full version in 1975!! "Do - over" - it Rocks!!!!
You have got to hear the whole song. This was like hearing an abridged version of Stairway to Heaven or Freebird.
Back in the day (so many years ago) and for those who can remember, the a.m. radio and the FM versions of the same song. They definitely short changed themselves by listening to the shortened a.m. radio version.
@@douglasmartin7647 Not too many bass solos in rock songs but there's a little one in there. ...And they missed it!
Good point.. well said... Could not agree more.
@@baronvonsatan good point.... Well said.,. Couldn't agree more
yeah they accidentally posted the short version that's god-awful made for radio.
it's like Donna Summer when someone puts up the three minutes of Love to Love You baby versus the original 16 and 1/2 minutes of ecstasy on the original album.. I guess they just can't hold out that long lol
Wait ...what!? I was just telling my wife, "This ending is going to BLOW THEIR MINDS!" Then it faded out!? That's like fading Stairway in the middle! Gotta listen to the whole thing!
A simple riff with perfect three part harmony. Gotta love it. Thanx guys.
I always thought it was an anagram of hogfat😂
I figured it was a Scottish name for one of their hats. Oh, well. Scrabble works for me.
Soooo underrated as a group. Thank you for hitting this one. Takes me back to my college days!!
You did the 4 minute version guys...what the ffffff??????.
🤣😆
They were just warming up! The best came later in the song. Gotta hear the full version pronto guys.
I missed the whole "Got to rock all night...." part. sigh
You guys got robbed! !! The crescendo at the end of this song is senses shattering awesomeness! !, that fade out was BS!,,
Really wtf...damn should have done the 8 min version...saw them back in 73 with the Edgar Winter Group in Montgomery, Al..was cool as hell from what I remember..but then you guys didn't know...
Try Thin Lizzy. "The boys are back in town". or "Jailbreak".
Also gotta love The Cowboy song.
Cowboy Song. My personal fave Thin Lizzy jam.
back in the late seventies I worked as a carnie in Colorado, New Mexico Wyoming.
I was in charge of what we called the roller rocket. after every body was slung in And I started the ride slowly I would put the tape of this in. People loved it, and the song was the same length as the ride! great memories, thanks.
Dudes, this is only half the song! It goes on for another four minutes and has an epic finale! Damn. You really need to hear the whole thing.
Absolutely no doubt about it!
Every time I hear this song I think of the ending of the movie Dazed and Confused when the kid slips on his headphones to listen to this. Also Foghat is named after a game one of the band members made up when he was a kid.
I had this version on a 45rpm record when I was a kid! You have to hear the LP version! 😎🤘
Always, always, listen to the longer versions of songs. This one makes me wanna cry.
I was a teen in the 70s and have to say, I got lucky to live in this generation.😊The music was real talent.
Yeah guys- y’all short-changed yourselves BIG time- The longer 8 minute version offers waaay more-would love to see a second reaction to it- there’s that much of a difference, that it’s worth it a second round- 💛💛🤘🏼✌️
I CONCUR! A SECOND REACTION FOR THE EXTENDED VERSION!
WOW...They totally got ripped off...The ******LONG****** Version kicks ass. Especially when the channels go from right to left. Headphone orgasms man.
@@MrDarkMagnus LMFAO...Thats great Man.
"Fool for the City" or " I Just Wanna Make Love to You"
Have you guys heard “Life’s been Good” by Joe Walsh. Great song after he left the eagles. You guys would like it.
Life's Been Good was 1978, in between Eagles albums
That has SOOOO much they would like in it. Great song!!!
Speaking of Joe Walsh, they NEED to dive into some James Gang
Funk 49.
@@patrickq7489 Or Rocky Mountian Way
I was Foghat`s driver back in 93`. I had a blast ! All 4 original members. Tour bus, Hotels, Back stage, Private Parties ! I`m 63 now and will never forget them.
hahaha this was awesome. i wish i could hear this song for the first time again
I'm so ready for you to check out some Blackfoot..." Highway Song" just for starters🖤🖤
Train train with the harmonica intro.
Highway song is a phenomenal song Andy and Alex need to check out immediately.
Now you're talkin'. "Fly Away", "Train Train", "Left Turn On A Red Light", "Every Man Should Know", "Spendin' Cabbage", "Baby Blue".
Saw Blackfoot live in 1981 with this little band from Sheffield called Def Leppard warming up
David , bet that was a hell of a concert.
I hear this song and I think of the movie Dazed and Confused 😁
My favorite Foghat song is "I Just Wanna Make Love To You". Just good old fashioned blues based Southern rock.
That is great too
Southern England. Lol
They are Americans. Definitely not Southern though. I think Dave was from Chicago or something?
@@wendymotogirl Dave Peverett was from London , England. All the original members were British. Pretty much unknown in the UK.
@@wendymotogirl I googled it. They're British
"Slow Ride" has nothing to do with travelling down the road. C'mon guys. You've got to get out more! lol... and until you hear the album version, the "ride" is nothing but a "quickie".
This song is about sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll!! Definitely A+
ZZ TOP- "I'm Bad, I'm Nationwide"
Y’all now have to try some other classics with ‘ride’ in the title: let it ride by Bachman Turner Overdrive or free ride by Edgar Winter.
Louis Chaverini both are excellent suggestions!
These guys would love some BTO! Taking Care Of Business would be a good start.
Oh yeah, "Let it Ride" by BTO is a great one.
Riding The Storm Out. REO Speedwagon
Louis Chaverini 1st Bad Co song I heard was Bad Company. It laid out the legacy that was to become!!!
Dazed and Confused. Alright alright alright. Classic.
Yeah. These boys want to capture the mid to late 70s? Dazed and Confused. One of my favorite movies.
That movie is exactly how it was when I graduated in '75. Keggers wherever and pretty much everybody smoked pot...in school or on school grounds. I don't remember hazing freshman or being hazed but what a fun movie.
1975 baby. My kids are older then you guys.. and i still listen to this.... love it... i am 56... my baby is 27 and my oldest is 34
Ahh, 10th grade in 1974, watching the girls gym class in action in their TIGHT gym shorts! You should hear the LONG version of Slow Ride!. It blows this one away!
Would love to see you guys react to some Santana. Maybe "Oye como va" or "soul sacrifice"? "Black magic woman" is a good one too.
Definitely go with "Fool for the City". Their live version of "Honey Hush" is also incredible. Also, a later song of their that is really good is "Live Now - Pay Later".
I take it you haven't seen the movie Dazed and Confused? Must watch! Live watch and reaction? That would be awesome.
So much cool music in that movie
I had my kids convinced it was a documentary...
Michael Keefe 🤣 That’s awesome! It kinda is...
Love that movie! We lived it.
@@MissZiss I was born in '77. I missed out 😞
Can't have a rock song about sex without the build up to a climax. You need the longer version. This is songus interruptous.
Best comment ever! Everybody in the 70’s knew what this song was about.
You REALLY need to listen to the 8 minute version.....IT WILL ROCK YOU!!!!!!!
The 8 min version is a solid A+, you've got to listen to it.....Please!
"Fool for the City" was the ONLY other Foghat song I heard on the radio.
You have to listen to Stone Blue by Foghat.
You seriously never heard this song? Damn, I'm officially old af
Jason Newcomb I’m not even old and I thought the same thing lmao. This was my favorite to play on guitar hero
They know the song. The long haired dude started to mouth the lyrics on the first "slow ride" and caught himself.
I was talking to a young teen the other day and mentioned AC/DC and he was like Who?.....I died inside lol
Foghat touring to support its Fool For The City album was my very first concert, 1976. Kalamazoo, Michigan. Wings Stadium. The warmup band, freaking Bob Seeger and the Silver Bullet Band. Good times. Much that won't be discussed publicly, lol.
I've seen them do this tune live, the year it came out. Foghat was a band to be experienced live!
Don’t forget, rock in the 70's was all about “sex, drugs, rock n roll”.
The great old days 💜
We were called the yippies 😎🤘🏻 we came after the hippies. Total party time the 70’s
You're right, but you forgot the "P". Its Peverett :)
@@krkhns Oh yeah, thanks.
Typo. That damn auto-correct sucks! Lol
Foghat Live: I Just Want to Make Love to You
Blackfoot “Train,Train” or Highway Song
oh ya right here
Train Train is awesome
Pat travers 10 inch
Send Me An Angel was always a favourite of mine ( Siogo Album)
I was Foghat`s driver back in 1993. I would drive to their hotel and pick them up and take them to their show. Really cool dudes ! Lots of partying back stage and on the tour bus !
“I Just want to Make Love To You” is the first song I ever heard from them and maybe my favorite overall. "Honey Hush" on their live album is a true banger--same riff as "Train Kept a Rollin"". "Fool for the City" is good but a lower tier in my eyes compared to these other two. BTW, three of these guys left Savoy Brown when it was an early (late sixties) blues rock British band you guys should check out some time--try "Hellbound Train" and "Tell Mama" for starters.
this was used in the movie " Dazed and confused" i believe
classic.
My young teen days in a nutshell.!
Foghat "Fool for the City" is a must. Other contenders "I Just Want to Make Love to You", "Honey Hush", "Stone Blue", "Take It or Leave It", "Chateau Lafitte '59 Boogie"
“ I Just Want To Make Love To You” off of Foghat Live is freaking insane!!!!!
(Lo-dough shows)
I saw Foghat journey and Kansas on a Saturday and it was a blast!
Have you guys never seen “Dazed and Confused” We need a reaction ASAP! 😅
Top 10 movie of all time
It needs to be the LIVE version!
bws1971 The nostalgia party we all deserve right now, I’m ready.
Fantastic classic rock soundtrack!
You guys should check out Robin Trower bridge of sighs one of the greatest albums ever made
They haven't done Bridge of Sighs yet??? That's just...... unfortunate..
Bridge of Signs is awesome - and the song itself is even more powerful when you know the story behind it...
Excellent choice.
I've been pleading with the boys to do Day Of The Eagle. It'll blow them right out of their chairs.
You guys need to watch the movie dazed and confused __cuz this song is prominent it's got a great soundtrack 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Several bangers, “ Stone Blue” “ Honey Hush” live, “ Fool for the City” , as mentioned already “Midnight Madness”
Honey hush. Forgot about that little gem. Going to listen to it right now. Thanks for shaking up the memory box. 😏
crazyfingers19 No problem, yw
You played the PG13 version. The best part of the song is the last two minutes you missed. Absolutely incredible
Next song by Foghat should be. “I Just Want to Make Love to You”
Wide Boy and Honey Hush are excellent as well.
My suggestion too. "I Just Want to Make Love to You."
Only if it's the live version...
A car, a badass stereo, Slow Ride and the open road, it doesn't get any better!
