Do you want to know how to make the most amazing model river? With this latest volume in my Making a Scene tutorial series, you'll be making a hyper-real river in no time.
For this diorama I used 2-part epoxy resin for the river and Mod Podge for the ripples. Together, these make for some amazing water effects, but I upped the realism by modelling the river bed with stones and boulders.
This diorama tutorial also covers making seafoam trees, using foam cutting tools, using Sculptamold, applying static grass and layering other ground cover. Primarily, though, it's about modelling ultra-real water effects.
This diorama took about 6 hours to build.
Many of the materials and tools I use come with safety instructions. Please always read and follow these rather than simply copy what you see me or other people doing.
Thanks for watching. I hope you enjoy it!

How expensive is it to get into this hobby? I’d like to try it but it seems pretty $$$ to do

Very nice I am tried to make the project in my school
That reminds me of the Rock river in Illinois when i was 4 years old. My father rowed a boat out with me in it. I saw a tiny tree sticking up in a tiny patch of earth in the middle of the river.
I was so excited I yelled out “ And suddenly...there was a beautiful island! My dad made a diorama out of resign with that scene and gave it to me at age 14.
Thank you for sharing. I'm so happy this took you back to that happy memory 🙂

It is very satisfying just by looking at it with proper lighting of course...
What a wonderful gift you have
The ripples in the water is so detailed and the roots coming out of the soil!
Looks great! You and Luke inspire me to attempt these for a setting for my scale model cars and such.
So realistic! Such beautiful work! Thanks for sharing your talent!!
Incredible! Thanks for sharing.
The water!!!! This is the BEST of all the diorama I've seen. Looks so realistic.
Thumbs down? Are they mad? I notice that the people who give a thumbs down almost never leave a comment as to what was “wrong” with the video. If you don’t like it, say why so that the creator can improve their videos. But it’s so much easier to hide behind the anonymity of the internet and just snipe, isn’t it?
Cowards and insecured people probably never contributed something useful in their lives and society
Absolutely stunning!

Just amazing!! What a pleasant work to watch !
I know, I don't have the patience to make this masterpiece nor I have any idea what I am doing here but it's oddly relaxing to watch.
This is something I want to do in just a little bit smaller size for WW2 diorama. I have a bunch of woodland scenic stuff I bought a couple months ago. You are definitely doing great work here that's for sure. Keep these video's coming please!
Just recently discovered your channel and working backwards to your older videos. You have a real talent my man. Brilliant model making. So realistic and atmospheric. The water is so beautifully captured. Love the commentary style too.
One of the best things I ever did see 🙏
2.8k dislikes? Geez, that's a lot of jealousy. 😩 This is beautiful. 🤯
It's only about 2% of those who gave a thumbs up or thumbs down. Not that much jealousy.
Nailed it girl 👏🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Now its 3.4 k
It's not because of jealousy.. instead of using artificial stuff.. why can't he recreate natural flow of water with natural grass and all.. with water flow maintained by motor pump.
First of all, since he’s making a pretty small model using real grass is impossible, because the real grass would be way too large. (Have you ever seen hair width grass?) Plus using grass and water would kinda ruin the craft. It simplifies the whole process and gives not nearly as much detail.
best 23 mins of my life
