Didn't the "writer" for this show talk about how she used to write Star Wars fanfiction, because it doesn't seem like she stopped.
XD fan fic writers would call out this nonsense
fanfic and slashfic aren't the same thing. Fanfic can be about anything but good ones have plot, character development, twists, and expand / incorporate lore of the show they are fans of.
Slashfic is about exploring (real or imagined) relationships (originally any relationship, but nowadays seems more for same-sex shipping). Good ones exist, though most of the "plot" serves to force... ahem I mean thread, the characters together in situations where their feelings deepen. Then they fall into bed.
The acolyte is written like a slashfic, but with all the s-e-x taken out, leaving you with settings and background characters.
Acolyte = 50 shades of Mae.
I've read better fanfics in the Star Wars universe then this show, hell some of them were Canon... until Disney and KK (de)canonized everything before they took over

dude they really did it, they put a moth against a lightsaber. just the weakest possible enemy you could ever encounter with a laser sword bug zapper. It literally just kills its self, all you have to do is hold the saber.

It's the major advantage of being attuned to The Light Side: you get to job around swinging your lightsaber around like a doofus with a wiffle bat and still be able to subconsciously avoid hitting anyone by accident, instead of having to practice at doing a ninja run.
It's also their largest weakness, admittedly.

If you can produce enough force to throw bodies around like rag dolls, but then not knock them all into each other's sabers...you might be dumber than the writers of The Acolyte.

SWTOR is how women in the galaxy would be written and ironically that game was more diverse than Disney's slop wish it could be.
SWTOR somehow went from being a mostly-failed WoW clone to being the last living refuge of a cultural lynchpin of a fandom and all that it holds dear. I could bet you any kind of money no-one involved in making it could've predicted that.

You are right. The first two seasons of The Mandalorian may be an exception, but shows like this and Ahsoka are incredibly unsatisfying to watch week to week, because they're stupidly written to be binged without consideration for pacing or episode breaks.
The Old Republic cinematic with the twins and also the one with daughter gives me goosebumps every time.
Wish someone had told the writers that a cliffhanger is a narrative device that leaves an audience in suspense or anticipation at the end of an episode. That the purpose of a cliffhanger is to keep the audience engaged in the story and encourage them to continue watching to find out what happens next. Cliffhangers can also evoke strong emotions in the audience, such as excitement, curiosity, sadness, or frustration, which can deepen their emotional investment in the characters. For example, an episode might end with the protagonist about to face the villain, but then cut to black with "to be continued". This puts the audience on the edge of their seats and eager to see what happens next. Ol' timey soaps and serials where pastmaster at this, This crew, not so much.
The only cliffhanger here is the identity of the Sith, we know exactly what is going to happen, how this “fight” is going to turn up… everyone dead except master Sol, Jackie, and Yorren… and definitely Osha and Mae since they are the lead

I posited this theory on another video, but I'm suspicious that this episode was written with the aid of ChatGPT. A) inconsistent character motivations, b) repetitive info dumps (because you made it a key point), c) very quick resolutions of plot threads and ideas, d) a smattering of (inconsistent) lore, and e) groan inducing dialogue.

Go check out their writer credits. Only a couple have any real noteworthy experience on good projects and Hedland has her stamp on nearly every single episode as a writer. I think only Charmaine DeGrate has an actual qualification level required to be allowed near a major franchise.
Writing good Hollywood shows is not easy. You think it is but it is not. Dalton Trumbo was blacked listed for being a suspected Communists in the 1950's. He broke the blacklist because movies studios realized just how hard it is to write a good show.
Try and write a one to two page Star Wars treatment of your own you will see it not easy to do.

Or not have done anything you mentioned and just have different writers make it up as they go without any coordination or quality control. Other Disney projects (e.g. Dr. Strange MoM, Ant-Man Quantumania) have shown that's how they operate, despite 180mil on the line.

The Acolyte is unintentionally bringing the Star Wars community back together.
You had to bring up the Star Wars: The old Republic cinematic trailers. There is a cinematic trailer fro the game ('Disorder') from 2022 that questions the way the Jedi choose their Padawans. It didn't get me to return to the game, but since I hear details about 'The Acolyte', I can't help thinking that this could have been the trailer to a great show.
Sadly the story that trailer led to has been mostly Mandalorian bullshit. While Malgus sits tied to a toilet at the bottom of the fleet station. But the recent patch has actually been decent.
That trailer alone blows the entirety of Disney Wars out of the water story-wise.
If Osha was going to turn herself in anyway, then why, when she hears the Jedi approaching, does she run to get to the Wookiee's hut first?
to be fair, she had no idea what that thing was, and no way to connect it to the jedi. If you came across some little gofer thing and it started screetching, youd probably get a move on too.

Unrelated, I will say, though, that sometimes when I see videos doing "deep dives" in this material, it feels like they're giving the writers here too much credit. I have seen nothing that suggests that these writers have any respect for the lore or demonstrate any sort of deep thinking, so trying to look for connections and deeper meanings feels like excuses for a simply bad show. I wonder if anyone else agrees.

You've actually convinced me to watch this episode. I stopped after 12 minutes of episode one but I'm sure this episode will bring me up to speed with all of it's explanations.
Thank you! I've seen several sources saying Ep 4 was at least some improvement on Ep. 3, but I didn't find that to be the case. Thought it was the worst writing and plotting we've seen in this comically bad series so far. I don't know what was worse, the lame and flat attempts at humor, or the inane "I'm saying something profound and insightful" moments that were total fails. "Am I being punked?" 🤣
The only way for Mae being shocked that Osha is Jedi Scum to work is if the twins are swapped. If the murderous twin in the flashback was the one that went to Coruscant while the twin that wanted to leave fell into the pit.
I've wondered about this since the apparent genuine confusion in the flashback scene "what did you do?" / "what did you do?" and the jumps cuts. I haven't cared enough to see if there are visual clues to back this up.

To put in perspective 90m was the budget for each of the lord of the rings trilogy movies.. which were all longer that the show we've had up to now, had amazing hand made sets, armor, costumes, and multiple setpiece battles. With the acolyte we have people talking for 29 minutes x4 and occasionally running across a cheap generic looking soundstage.

They mentioned previously that Kelnacca has not been in communication for.... years? I think it was in the Jedi Temple scene. And this isn't Star Trek, I do not think that scanners work like that in Star Wars. I cannot remember anything like that before.
I actually took from it that Kelnacca may have gone mad - with the symbols on the wall maybe he was obsessed with what happened in the flashback we will see.
I think it could have been much clearer on these points - with what in the video was said as too many reminders from Osha, but here we could have had the Jedi say "We haven't heard from Kelnacca, so we don't know what we will find" sort of thing.
"I can't believe..." is up there with "As you know..." for clunky expo dumps.

I disagree that Mae had no reason to switch sides. Have you ever been on a hike? Hiking is the absolute worst and will have you questioning every life choice you ever made that got you huffing and puffing in the woods. Her switching because she's tired of walking is the only believable part of the show so far

She had 2 very good reasons: 1. her sister was alive. 2. she realized that her "master" wanted her to be killed by wookie.

I think I do know why she suddenly switched though. She needed Qimir to take her to Kelnacca. She didnt know where he was and it wasnt until Qimir said "It is 10 minutes that way" sort of thing. She had already made up her mind after finding out her sister is alive. That could have been conveyed with a shot of her "staring at the sky" and say something like "Oshie, you are alive" which makes us realise she is torn.
However, again this could and should have been clearly conveyed. She could have said to Qimir "Thanks for leading me to him" and show she was using him.
I think a lot of these things are there but so muddled in with the rest - you have to dig when you shouldnt

5:15 Darth Teeth is obviously Discount Ezra Miller. Take a look at episode I Don't Give a Fuck, when Mayday meets back up with him in an alley after confronting Tommen Baratheon. She swings at him a couple times and he dodges her punches like Bruce Lee swaying in a drunken stupor. C'mon, man!
That happened against trinity in episode 1 she got her ass kicked so easy so she had to do typical cliche villain move threatening another's life to win.

Prequels Ki-Adi-Mundi
In the Jedi Temple scene, Venestra`s arrogance is to assume that Mae has been trained by a Jedi. They say it could be a spliter group
So they think they are chasing a Jedi. No one has mentioned a Sith.
I mean, is Smylo-Ren a Sith? Is it the Master or the Apprentice.
They have created a problem as word now cannot get back to the Jedi that it is a Sith. And I think they put him in this just to force that problem. Can they stick the landing on it and avoid the issue everone thinks has already happened - which hasnt as they dont know it is a Sith!
