Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic are no longer good sources to base watching something off of. Look at the box office ticket sales, total and projected revenue, and audience score if you want to know if it's good.

In the og trilogy it the rebellion was lead by a lot of women. Mon Mothma was the actual leader of the Rebellion and Princess Leia was also a major figure and leader. In the prequels Naboo was lead by women and Padme was a central and important figure to the story even outside of her relationship to Anakin. So it's both ridiculous and disingenuous to say SW fans don't like strong female characterization in the franchise. It's obviously meant as a distraction and excuse as to why most Disney SW films/shows have done so poorly overall.

I think there are some cases where having a female lead can be a factor in people disliking media, but I doubt it’s ever the only reason. I think there’s a lot of stuff left unspoken that audiences will pick up on, and if there is not genuine intent from the creators, people will be much more likely to call them out for having a female lead. Disney is probably the most obvious example because it is well-known that the company is infected to its core with social justice ideology. It’s not hard to infer why they make the choices they do (they often say it explicitly), so when people see a female lead in Disney media, they rightfully question it. Having a female lead in itself is certainly not inherently wrong, but there’s likely ulterior motives at play as well, ie virtue signaling and pushing their ideology.

Fighting is pretty solid. The Sith looks pretty cool, and has potential to be the silver lining of the show. Sith are always cool… but I wouldn’t put it past them to make it lame. Maybe check out episode 5 because the Sith will definitely be in it.

The show's predictability and the lack of exciting fight scenes in episode 4 were especially disappointing, considering the high production budget. It's a shame how much the VFX teams are underappreciated and overworked.

I'm a girl, but I'm pretty sure the _very_ vast majority men don't care about the gender of the lead as long as it's a good piece of media. I have two brothers who played the Metroid Prime series all the time when I was young, and they still love those games to this day. I've played it now, and I see why--it's unique, atmospheric, and filled with eerie alien sci-fi. I love it, too.

For those who are interested in the lore, Ki-Adi-Mundi (the Jedi Council member who mentions that the Sith haven't been seen for 1000 years in 'The Phantom Menace') is a middle-age Jedi leading an investigation 30 years before he was born. Wookiee Jedi? Kill him off screen because fight choreography with him is as impossible as The Beast dancing in the live-action remake of 'Beauty and the Beast'. They had the budget ... but they spent it somewhere else ... adjusting for inflation, the 8 episodes of 'The Acolyte' cost as much to make as the 3 original trilogy movies COMBINED!

The whole storyline seems disjointed and the characters lack depth. The visuals also fail to justify the budget. Hopefully, they can at least sustain the engaging fight sequences in the future episodes.

Meanwhile yesterday, the Nintendo Direct announced a new Metroid & a Zelda-led TLoZ game, both with huge hype and excitement. Almost like The Acolyte feels very disingenuous & ulteriorly motivated to have a female lead as a means to deflect criticism.
In the og trilogy it the rebellion was lead by a lot of women. Mon Mothma was the actual leader of the Rebellion and Princess Leia was also a major figure and leader. In the prequels Naboo was lead by women and Padme was a central and important figure to the story even outside of her relationship to Anakin.
So it's both ridiculous and disingenuous to say SW fans don't like strong female characterization in the franchise. It's obviously meant as a distraction and excuse as to why most Disney SW films/shows have done so poorly overall.

I think there are some cases where having a female lead can be a factor in people disliking media, but I doubt it’s ever the only reason. I think there’s a lot of stuff left unspoken that audiences will pick up on, and if there is not genuine intent from the creators, people will be much more likely to call them out for having a female lead.
Disney is probably the most obvious example because it is well-known that the company is infected to its core with social justice ideology. It’s not hard to infer why they make the choices they do (they often say it explicitly), so when people see a female lead in Disney media, they rightfully question it. Having a female lead in itself is certainly not inherently wrong, but there’s likely ulterior motives at play as well, ie virtue signaling and pushing their ideology.

I’m glad the way you structured this didn’t mention much “lore/canon” cuz it shows at its core the show is genuinely just bad. But her disrespect to the canon is just as bad to the people that made Star Wars worth Disney even investing in. She’d rather insert her political messaging awkwardly (and make it obvious in interviews that that’s what she cared about most), make up her own version of Star Wars, instead of ADDING to it like Jedi: Fallen Order/Survivor, KOTOR, Clone Wars.
Then to make matters worse you got her and bloggers trying to “redefine” what canon means and blaming fans as “crying about a fictional story” like are we not allowed to care because we are holding you accountable? People like Star Wars because of the way the force works, the power system, the way Jedi and Sith act, the politics, the technology, etc etc. You change core things of a story that made people love in the first place you are going hear complaining or alienate your base, which I guess is the goal atp.

I'm a girl, but I'm pretty sure the _very_ vast majority men don't care about the gender of the lead as long as it's a good piece of media. I have two brothers who played the Metroid Prime series all the time when I was young, and they still love those games to this day. I've played it now, and I see why--it's unique, atmospheric, and filled with eerie alien sci-fi. I love it, too.

Wookiee Jedi? Kill him off screen because fight choreography with him is as impossible as The Beast dancing in the live-action remake of 'Beauty and the Beast'. They had the budget ... but they spent it somewhere else ... adjusting for inflation, the 8 episodes of 'The Acolyte' cost as much to make as the 3 original trilogy movies COMBINED!

The whole storyline seems disjointed and the characters lack depth. The visuals also fail to justify the budget. Hopefully, they can at least sustain the engaging fight sequences in the future episodes.

I just don't know why they didn't make the 'Sith' Show set a lot longer ago in the past really. Like, if you wanna follow 'canon' but still be a show ABOUT the Sith... you should probably pick an era where there are like... a lot of Sith right? I just don't know who greenlit this.
