    I was actually sad when Jecki died. Not because the built up her character. But because she went out like a champ. She fought her ass off. But then there's the question of how Qimir killed multiple Jedi knights at once, but didn't make quick work of a padawan.

    I find it funny that Osha felt guilt in the previous episode for essentially being the reason the bug creature died only to have no problem letting many of them die in a poor attempt to kill Qimir. The show doesnt even understand its own characters.

    You know that feeling when you read an article and half the words are spelled wrong? That’s the feeling I get when I watch this show. It does feel like it was written by children.

    • @Blisterdude123
      @Blisterdude123 3 дні тому +10

      It feels like it was written by people paid too much, with too little direction, and no competent supervision. People busy huffing their own farts and thinking too little of their audience.
      I keep hearing people say 'turn your brain off its for kids', but I was also told the Acolyte was gonna be super dark and adult. Which...it isn't, it's pathetic. And why should kids expect to be treated like idiots anyway? I watched all of Clone Wars, as an adult, and that is a cartoon that treated its audience like intelligent, mature human beings, with some very adult and thought-provoking themes and ideas nestled into its narrative. The Acolyte is an embarrassment, by comparison.

      They are by far the least interesting character(s?) in this show, played by the least compelling actor. And now the show has killed off most of the ones who weren't exactly outstanding, but were at least 'novel' to some extent.
      It's killing me psychologically knowing the next three episodes or whatever are going to just be even MORE of Osha/Mae. She has the charisma of a tree stump.

      @charleshartley9597 2 дні тому +1

      @@Blisterdude123 Wow, I hadn't thought of that, but you are totally right. Now I'm traumatized as well! If it's just these characters, I can't decide if it's a cheap "mystery box" ploy to rely on our knowledge from TPM and Mundi's line about the Sith as to how this show resolves what happened in ep5. As in "what's gonna happen to where the Jedi council don't hear about this Sith?" Mundi making an appearance is no accident. So, is this a cheap plot device, IDK.

    The problem with the show is it is entirely plot driven. Characters actions don’t happen because they are logical or true to the pysche and motivations of a character, they happen because the script said it does. It’s what you would feed to an AI as an example of bad writing to have it learn what not to do.

    • @eds1942
      @eds1942 2 дні тому +2

      The same was the case with the Ahsoka show and Mandalorian season 3. The characters didn’t do much but sit or stand around unless the plot needed them to do something and they put in plenty of pointless inconsequential act y to o keep us entertained.
      The main difference here a is that we were/are being misguided with what the main plot, it’s mystery even is. Everything else is fairly straight forward.
      What this show really suffers from is that this is a long format story which is being awkwardly split up and released weekly, rather than being binged. And Star Wars is using that formula because with is basically their movie of the year, that they split into enough episodes to classify it as a season of a TV show and Disney needs to hold onto enough of its subscribers for long enough that they might forget about cancelling their subscription. And we see the same with their other live action Star Wars shows. Ahsoka, Book of Boba Fett and Kenobi were clear examples of this.

    Cortosis shorts out lightsabers by breaking the "loop" of plasma by absorbing and diffusing any energy that strikes it. It literally sucks the energy and spreads it out evenly amongst it's molecular structure, which braked the loop and causes a short out.
    So with that I'm mind, when Osha shoots the stun bolt, the majority of the energy in the blast was absorbed by his vambrace and helmet.
    Funny enough, Cortosis doesn't make the best armor since it's properties while great against energy attacks it doesn't hold up well against physical damage, so it was pretty cool to see Jecki break it with her hilt.

The writers of the Acolyte are blithering boobs, and they think their audience are dumber than the characters in the show. Of course it was going to be Qimir. There was absolutely no possibility of it not being Qimir. There was nobody but Qimir it could be.

    In episode 5, there is some bad and vague dialogue between Sol and the Sith. Three things stuck out to me.
    1. Sol asks "what kind of master doesn't show their face to their pupil?" And Darth Zipper Face says "i should ask you" or something vague.
    2. Zipper face says he's Sith and Sol asks, "why risk discovery?" like he knows they've been building in the shadows. And 3. Zipper face says, "I've accepted my darkness, what have you done with yours?" And it really sets Sol off. Again, all of this is really poorly written, but what are we supposed to glean from this in how it pertains to Sol? Any thoughts? Keep up the good work, man!

If that were the case, he would know how to use the force, know how to build and use a lightsaber, and know what the Sith are. Maybe he was frustrated with the Jedi for not letting him use the dark side so now he’s adopting the title of Sith that he learned from his training. in the end, the Jedi will realize who he is and that will fix the plot hole about the Sith being gone for 1000 years, because he’s not a real Sith.

    1: Look at how Mando was limping after hitting himself with the darksaber in the leg. Or that Obi Wan fight in the PT, I think it was AotC Dooku? The one where he gets his leg sliced and he's out of the fight. What's up with Yord then?
    2: I agree with Qimir spilling some beans to Osha about what happened with Sol & the coven after that obvious setup with her questioning Sol. However, it's an equal opportunity to have Sol explain to Mae what happened, as he promised. Seemingly he can't tell it's not Osha after all. It's right in line with what they've been trying to do in this show. Since there's only three episodes left, maybe it'll be a split perspective single. I can't see them spending two on that again.
    Tangent on Mae's decision making. Who in the hell thought up that plot point? I'm gonna turn myself in and betray you. Oh shit he's here and trying to kill me. I'll try apologizing, oh he still wants to kill me. Now he doesn't want to kill me, oh nevermind he actually does. I'll just go kill the Jedi myself, and pull a switcheroo. Maybe he'll kill Osha instead, after I just told her I love her. Somebody nominate this for an awards show.
    Anyway, My thoughts: this show is pretty below average at best. Is it a 13%, maybe not. I think a 30% or a little lower is more in line. There's a little bit of good sprinkled in here & there. Sol is about the only character that isn't dull and uncompelling, well I guess Qimir's got over the top going for him. The plot/story is nonsensical and bland. The sets can be kinda cool, the action is pretty good if at times marred by bad direction/cuts/etc. Choreography is pretty great though. The dialogue is really bad, like middle/high school level. And not the talented kids in high school. It breaks longstanding canon & misuses other parts it doesn't outright contradict. The CGI is not particularly good. I won't even get into the culture war stuff but it's there. I'm just not seeing where that nearly $200 million budget went to.
    What's not to like? This show is great. Absolutely doesn't miss on any level.

    good on you if you can keep caring but I'm just done with Star Was.
    Consider this... There's a movie about martial-arts-cops everyone really likes, the cops are the main hero and point of identification for 80%+ of the fans. Why in hell would the IP owner come out with a show in which t he hero martial-arts-cops are completely worthless against ONE GUY. Only plot-armor can save the life of one cop. It's asinine... no one wants this, and Leslie "half-rancor" Headland LIED TO US ALL WHEN SHE HAD THE NERVE TO SAY "starwars saved my life" - bullshit, I do not believe that for one second. I hope the epic shitting all over this does indeed make her very very sad indeed. I feel bad for most of the actors, but I hope the paychecks were worth it.
    So they can hire a fight coordinator, BFD, anyone can do that.

    The poster that you used in your cover image is a giveaway as to everyone's position in the storyline. The Sith is there, but not the image of the person who is it's secret identity. His picture should be included in the characters but it's missing, an obvious giveaway as to the secret identity. The presence of the witch mother, appearing dominantly over everyone and everything else is also significant and most likely another major giveaway.

    Some individual portions of the saber fights were good, but overall the choreography/performance was bad. TLJ throne room bad. It distracts with the pretty lights and useless flourishes, but the overall fight made no sense when you focus on the specific moves and tactics used. Once again, the needs of the story forced the character's actions so that the desired endpoint was reached.
    At least getting stabbed by a lightsaber is lethal again. Of all the D+ shows, this is the one that got it right? Completely ironic, especially because it was a product of the bad writing (needing the slaughter to advance the story) instead of a truly considered decision.

    I think one of the biggest problems of the show is the same thing killing almost all modern 8 episode shows. The pacing. There is too much story to make an intense and thrilling movie length event. But there is too little to make a full show. They either need to have more time to flesh out the damn story and build to events organically, or trim the fat and tighten things off.
    Oddly enough, I think the Obi Wan show was better than most in that regard. It told a single clear story (rescue Leia) along with 2 sub plots (Reva's revenge and Obi Wan confronting Vader to get over his funk). It didn't feel like they were so much killing time or rushing things in the way the Acolyte did.
    I dislike some major elements of Obi Wan and his characterisation in the show, and think having another Vader/Obi fight is a major problem for the grander story of SW. But in concept the show had the right idea.
    Andor was even better in pacing as it slowly built things in the background so that when characters make their big decisions it feels earned and it makes sense. In 4 episodes on the prison arc Kino is given a full characterisation, an arc and this is used to again build Andor towards becoming the rebel we know he can become. Try to tell that story in more episodes, or cram it inot 2, and it breaks.

    According to SW Theory, the actual fights when broken down dont even make sense, like Qimir literally has MULTIPLE openings that could have been exposed, so even from an objective and non-lore, non-woke viewpoint this show is bad. And that was supposedly the best part!
