Did home appliance delivery in middle and East Tennessee for 16 years, almost always out of rentals/lease trucks. The troopers definitely have a hard on for em.
question. If you drive a Ford Transit box truck at 9950 gvwr are you required to stop at weigh stations? Will you get pulled over? Is there any way for the DOT to know you are under 10k gvwr until they ask for your registration? Does putting 9950 gvwr/not for hire (sole proprietor here hauling my own stuff) help with this? thanks for any advice
With regards to ELD exception of doing 150 Air miles (172m land miles) does one still need the ELD if I cross a state line within 172m land miles ? Will a time sheet suffice??
I have a question. Can you drive your own box truck business weighing less than 26000 LBS with just your REGULAR DRIVER LICENSE. I’ve read that you can only drive box trucks for NON COMMERCIAL use? Been looking for the answer for this for a few days now. I live in Florida
@@itsajoke631 solo or team doesn't matter, it is either a hotel or sleeper or somebody that you know tha will have room for you to sleep, the point is that the front seat doesn't have the dimensions of a bed according to fmcsa
@@itsajoke631 2 driver without sleeper can drive 14 hours combined, so let's said one person is driving and while this person is on ELD driving the other person need to be on duty on ELD so let say that one person drove 11 hour so he would have 3 more hours on duty so the other person will drive 3 hours only because the guy who drove 11 hours only have 3 hours on duty time so you can figure it out how it would work for you back and forth maybe driving 7 hours and 7 hours or something like that
Trucking Lawyer, It would be GREAT if u did a video of guys being pulled over by cops and then the bullsh*t starts. “ Where you going?”, “Where you coming from”? Etc. surely it’s none of their business. 2 recent videos that I saw the cops act like your suspicious & they call the canine guy. He lies and says his dog smelled drugs. They tear everything apart and leave it like that when they don’t find anything. The first one was a Black College student & judges son in a box truck, moving his furniture. They stepped all over his furniture and tossed it around & the same in the cab. Then they leave it all laying on the seat and floor. The second one the driver was a Latino in a semi and he saw in his mirror the canine cop drop a dog toy and said his dog got excited and that meant drugs. They went all thru the whole truck & in the cab they ripped open everything, cabinets, clothes, food, glove box etc. and left it all laying on the seat and floor. FOUND NOTHING IN EITHER TRUCK! This shouldn’t happen in The United States!
In your future vlog please explain if you can those truckers who refuse to aid the DOT/police during inspection siting the 5th amendment. Their position seems to be that if a deficiency is found they face prosecution and they cannot be compelled to testify against themselves. I should point out that while DOT et.al. are very aggressive it pursuit of violations it makes more sense to me to be pleasant and respectful rather than confrontational. Thoughts
your instincts are correct here. the truth is you’re not required to assist DOT officers with the exception of handing them the documents they request. This is much the same as not having to assist the police on a traffic stop beyond showing license insurance wand registration. the difference, I would submit, is that the stop itself in a typical traffic stop is subject to attack if the officer lacks reasonable suspicion to make it. the DOT officers are given much more leeway in the absence of reasonable suspicion to make regulatory searches, and while you may not be required to participate, constitutionality speaking, you’re much more likely to have a more positive outcome my being kind and cooperative. DOT officers can have a tremendously negative impact on your livelihood, whereas an officer writing you a ticket, likely will not. good comment, thank you for engaging.
It doesn’t seem all that safe for someone to sleep in a sleeper berths not seat belted. Maybe they have sleeper birth airbags not sure but back in the day my 1988 Mack super liner I drive didn’t have any safety mechanisms in the sleeper . But of course I didn’t team drive. What if the truck gets in an accident . What about 52 ft motor homes . Those are much bigger than any box truck . Do they have to follow DOT safety regulations? Thanks for the very informative video . Lots of stuff to know for box trucks
Thank you so much for your contribution to the world! A lot of useful and much needed information in your videos
You're very welcome!
I know someone got caught driving a28ft box truck without CDL or for hire endorsement hit with a 10k fines no joke
I don’t think I’ve ever put a thumbs down on any of your videos good job supper trooper 💪🏻
He’s honest. I dumped a company I dispatched because they wanted to run teams without a sleeper. I can not be a part of it

Very helpful
So my 26ft boxtruck is gvw 10000 not over 10000 so i technically don't need edl?? You said " over 10,000 requires EDL "

For hire endorsement its the rule in all 50 states speak to your state BMV fines 5k in fines
Thx, good points
Even if you're solo driver unless you go hotel every day will require sleeper on the truck to go OTR , can't sleep on the front seat
What about team driving?

No, because a lot of Senators probably own motor homes.
I have sleeper restraints in my truck on both top and bottom bunks. Looks like a net with three points to buckle
so how much can a 26 ft box truck with cdl driver and authority haul?
26,000 I think
What if I only want a passenger just to ride along who isn't driving is that legal
only applies to drivers working for the company
@@builtonboxes4374if u work for. Company is that the same as picking up a load for them in. Rent box truck
