It honestly makes me sick to hear Shane say things like “well it’s Jeffree. what did you expect?” like...I expect basic human decency from everyone, and implying otherwise is so dismissive of the hurt that Jeffree has caused to real people
imagine what it's like to be in a group either of them have humiliated and disrespected...only to get "well that's just who they are as a person/product of their time"...and not only shane being aware of this behavior but also being ok with the fact that that's who that person is as a person.it really isolates his marginalized fans and shows them whose side hes on and how much he values them.

The part that really really irks me is when Shane says “I missed the part where Jeffrer was baptized” .... really? You were the one who baptized him when you made TWO separate series specifically to do so! The beauty community saw him as a villain, and Shane as the one who made it his mission to show his humanity and I think that is now playing a huge role is why Shane is now crumbling the way he is.

it's also not just drama or tea, it's a serious topic and seeing a bunch of 30 something year olds treating it like that is disgusting
It also implies that someone is deserving of sexual assault charges if they step out of line which is equally not okay.
Just want to point this out, because I didn't realize this until it was pointed out to me, but Tati never accused James of being a sexual predator or assaulting anyone. She accused him of using his fame to try and trick straight boys into sleeping with him, which would be shitty behavior. But it was the rest of the internet that started using the term 'sexual predator' and everyone throwing their two cents in and getting swept up in the drama that turned it into speculation and accusations of sexual assault.

For real. I can't tell whether his "gullible soft boy" persona is an act that he knowingly puts on for his subscribers or if it has gotten to the point where he has literally convinced himself that he is somehow innocent and blameless. Either way, he's a hypocrite. He makes lame non-apologies (excuses, really) for his own bad behavior (and Jeffree's) and then wags his finger at others like he's above them. His objective isn't justice or fairness, it's protecting his public persona and by extension his money/lifestyle. Every time he gets called out for shitty behavior he always acts like he somehow had NO idea what he was doing, that he couldn't possibly have done something bad, and that actually he's the one who we should feel sorry for. Really, what person who genuinely has anxiety that bad, and has such a sweet boi uwu persona, would use "I'm too sensitive for this" as a shield constantly. As someone who has pretty bad anxiety issues, I can't imagine announcing that all the time because it's a pretty sore point to be "too sensitive". Or even hanging out with people like Jiffy Stonks (and Trasha Paytas, like wtf. These people terrify me on a different level because simply being around those kinds of people would be extremely anxiety inducing even if they're just hamming it up for the camera) unless.. it's an act!? Who would have thought. Being publicly associated with those people does not inspire confidence that he's as sensitive as he says. I get that not everyone's experience with mental illness is the same, but this is just plain as day manipulation and I'm glad people are starting to wise up to that shit.

Honestly i only saw ryland's eyes lit up about the amount that could be made! Not a fan of any of them, but their followers hyped the whole makeup thing out of this universe. Nobody was forced to buy it. It wasnt advertised as anything else than ordinary makeup. Its just colored powders in a pan (which didnt even look great). But all their followers jumped on it LIKE CRAZY from the second this idea was mentioned a year before it started. WHO in their right mind would pass such an opportunity? Who would honestly decline a multi million dollar deal for a year of on/off work? Shane is not jesus and never claimed to be. This all feels like their following is now crucifying the couple, that they previously prayed to. Whos fault is it in the end?

If you're going to hold other beauty influencers (like James Charles) to a specific standard, then Jeffree should be held to that standard too. I don't know much about Shane Dawson, so maybe this statement is an accurate reflection of who he is as a person and how he thinks, but watching this video kind of blew my mind. Given how successful he is, I guess I expected something more... thoughtfully composed. I thought it might contain some actual insight into what it is like being in his position as someone with millions of followers who has been navigating a career in new media for more than a decade. I thought he might present an interesting perspective of what it was like partnering up with one of the most drama-prone people on the platform, and using the drama to sell their products. Instead of taking accountability, he essentially took a shit on an entire community of people, many of whom purchased his products (and even promoted them), and then he disappeared. What a turd.

I'll be honest, having terrible friends and always forgiving them and being blind to their faults even if everyone is calling them and you on it is pretty typical for people who have a history of being a victim in an unhealthy relationship or having mental health issues. I would know, I've had some unhealthy friends that really fucked me up.
This isn't an excuse for him, though. Bad mental health is not an excuse for bad behavior. Shane needs to be called on his continued support of problematic people, and also he needs to talk to a professional about it.
“He’s family to me” if I had an ACTUAL family member who was “ecocentric, narcissistic, vengeful, two faced and a ticking time bomb ready to explode” I would distance and estrange myself from that person. These two are not even actually family.

i knew something was a little off when shane initially planned to “expose” the beauty community, but eventually became one of them & profited off of it. idk it’s like that quote of u either die a hero or live long enough to be a villain lol
I found that weird as it ended up being a very long advert. Okay a few bits were interesting like seeing the make-up being made and the warehouses of stuff but the rest was boring.
Absolutely! People are being naive about Shane. He has trained himself to be an actor. An actor who is paid very well to play a character of "innocent therapist friend" who vlogs. He admit he wants to be a filmmaker. So this all makes sense for his resume. I'll never forget when he did the series on Graveyard Girl. She was clearly uncomfortable talking about and showing her wealth. He kept pressuring her. He is as manipulative as Jefree. But he plays this role and uses mental health as a scapegoat. Its offensive.

Personally, with my ocd and anxiety, backlash to something I’ve done wrong makes me spiral out of control. But that is something that I have to deal with. We can't both push for change and avoid anyone ever having a negative emotion. Being called out is hard. There is going to be discomfort, sadness, anxiety involved in taking a real look at your own behavior. That doesn't mean you get to opt out.

I'm aware that some people think that a lot of us have a "purity test" when it comes to their past mistakes and, you know what, I do. It's called having standards and maybe if Shane had any he wouldn't be associating with problematic people all the time. Of course he probably wouldn't have done blackface either. Or kept his blackface merch up for so fucking long.
Also, notice how Shane used such an extreme example? So, J* can either be horrible and malicious or he can be a goody-two-shoes Christian. There's no in-between; there's no reality in which J* can be a moral person without essentially losing his personality and snark. You can still be snarky and behave ethically. I’ve never watched Shane but everything I’ve heard makes me feel that he has a victim complex. He’s in his 30s and acts like an immature child who can’t take any responsibility.
