    The saddest thing about Tana for me, someone who’s watched her all five years, is that she’s totally lost the concept she was setting out for. She doesn’t care about her image or her fans at all. She has become the opposite of what she wanted. Unless she actually only wanted to get rich, in which case she got it! I’m sad. Lol

    • @ytamee5952
      @ytamee5952 4 роки тому +86

      I think at first she did care, but at some point, the $$$ just balance all the drama, scandals and bad points of her yt career, so she probably just stopped caring, because whatever she does, she will earn sth off it. Sad indeed :/

      I feel this. She's surrounded by yes-men who are happy to see her spiral as long as they're profiting off of it. As another day one fan (who flew across the country for Tanacon), her downfall has been devastating to watch. She seemed like such an excited-for-life lovable girl who just wanted to inspire people and make people laugh...now she's like a shell of a person.

    On topic with the Idubbbz situation: I'm suprised SO MANY people made fun of Tana for being scared? Like, have people forgotten about Christina Grimmie? It's entirely valid to be scared of someone who randomly says A SLUR at a meeting greet, when you don't know them or what they're going to do

    • @daisymay156
      @daisymay156 3 роки тому +231

      In Tana's first video about the incident she actually mentioned Christina Grimmie and was talking about how she worried Idubbz (before she knew who he was) might have a gun - and there was a lot of mockery for it when really, that's not unreasonable for a 17 y/o girl in America who's suddenly flown up in followers. Tana's got a lot of issues and there's a lot to criticise, but that would absolutely be a scary situation.

    • @miuanaspooks7375
      @miuanaspooks7375 3 роки тому +88

      Tana was scared yes, however people didn't take her seriously because she completely lied and exaggerated the whole situation, idubbbz was pretty shitty for just showing up and saying a racial slur but what made it worse was how terribly she exaggerated and lied about it.

    • @audreybea4013
      @audreybea4013 3 роки тому +33

      That's what I was thinking I feel like if that happened to me my mind would be flooded with thoughts like " should he have gotten searched" " am I about to die" " are a lot of people about to die" bc sadly almost every mass shooting in America especially in recent years has been racially motivated. Like even when I was in high school and had to go to the bathroom during class I would intentionally pick the hand cap stall bc thier bigger and easier to hide in incase a shooting happens like I could not imagine the anxiety she went through being faced with an actual potential threat from her point of view at least

    • @indiesunflowers
      @indiesunflowers 2 роки тому +21

      in the vid she made, she claimed that she couldnt get out of his grip because his arm was around her neck and said other lies.
      the point of his video was proving that she lies in her videos. which he did prove.
      nobody is saying she shouldn't have been nervous or creeped out, and nobody is making fun of her for BEING scared, theyre making fun of her for lying about the whole thing.
      the point was to show that she lies and exaggerates. which she did.

    • @TenderNoodle
      @TenderNoodle Рік тому +1

      I think most people were coming at it from the angle of idubbz, which is thinking it’s a prank and not actually harming her, and also knowing his reasoning for playing the “prank” in the first place, where tana did not. She was also known for being an exaggerator at the time so it was assumed that if her reaction was dramatic it was because she was faking it for views. In retrospect it’s definitely not cool and kind of pathetic on idubbz part but at the time I think those were the main reasons

    As someone who found Tana’s content around the “bleach and tone” merch, I couldn’t agree more with your analysis on her UA-cam career. I am only two years older than she is, and at the time I found her content very relatable. I was kind of a goody-two-shoes in high school and partied more through college, and I feel I grew up with Tana in a way. But at this point, the act wears thin and you can only screw up the same way so many times. Maybe one day Tana can come back to UA-cam with the passion she once had and prove us all wrong. She definitely knows how to stay relevant though, I will give her that.

      from what i saw, people weren't as upset with tana because she did make a genuine apology, compared to gabbie who was very condescending and just straight up told people "well it's your fault for buying these brushes, you should have known something like this might happen." to be honest though, the kenza cosmetics scandal wasn't NEARLY as bad as other's and she did actually own up to making a bad move, and she apologized to her followers and anyone who bought the brushes.

      That's not the takeaway of gone girl at all. The takeaway from it is that a lot of women pretend to be the cool girl to appeal to the male gaze and it sickens the main character that her husband fell for that scam instead of seeing the real her with flaws and all because she thought he was smarter than to think women would so easily be able to fit in vapid stereotypes instead of being the fully fleshed out people that they are. Replacing one stereotype by another stereotype is doing the exact same thing.

    • @ArturGlass.C
      @ArturGlass.C 4 роки тому +16

      @Dov Lazar I guess it's just very bothering to use a small part of a book's argument to prove something that kinda goes against one of the biggest argument of the book. It's like people who watch fight club and think it's an ode to people like Tyler Durden while ignoring that the entire third act of the movie is the main character going against Tyler and everything he represents because he's a toxic dangerous threat.
      Art can be interpreted different way yes and that's great but when it's brought up in an argument to promote an idea that is literally one of the major point the art is trying to deconstruct, that's just wrong. Like fascist using 1984 to say it's about the liberal attacking "free speech" when it's literally about fascism.
      Ultimately I need to chill. It's not a big deal and you're right but I needed to make it clear that it's not really the message of Gone Girl because I don't want people who could be its targeted audience sleeping on that book because they have a bad idea of what it's about.

He, in the Tana series, I feel like it was a lot of putting the blame on Michael Weiss, on the Jake Paul video he wasn’t putting the blame on anyone, he was just using mental illness and disorders like sociopathy as an excuse for Jake’s shitty behaviors. I only watched the Jeffrey Starr series to the part where they talked about Jeffrey saying the N-word, and it was just excuse after excuse. Shane doesn’t hold himself to changing his behaviors, so he doesn’t encourage anyone “helps” to change their behaviors either.

    I always found Tana's story kind of sad. There's something that seems so real about her unlike some of the other 'problematic' creators. Like I knew so many girls like her in high school who just had a terrible home life and fell into the wrong things early on. Any one of them could've been her. And the unfortunate thing is I'm not sure much will ever change with her, at least not in the near future - she goes through the same cycles of behaviour over and over. I think she partly originally used UA-cam originally as a coping mechanism where she could get the love and attention she lacked from her parents and tell some of her traumatic, and other storytimes and turn it into funny, exaggerated entertainment that people actually wanted to hear about and watch. She could be self-deprecating and air all her insecurities which would only cause her fans to tell her how much they loved and respected her. But I think now her reputation has taken away all consequences for the things she does and so she is rewarded with attention for the atrocious behaviour she does.

    I think the MTV show really damaged her brand. Her persona is all about being too cool and not caring about anything and being self-centered and messy and consequence immune and to her young fans that can come off as empowered and rebellious and even aspirational but MTV showed how tiresome and frustrating it's actually like to be around someone like that and her fans stopped relating to her and started relating to the people she was screwing over.
    I think the two most damaging episodes were the one where Tana doesn't care about having asthma and freeform coughs all over LA which aired post-Corona and the one where Tana promises to pick up her friend after his surgery, flakes on him and then guilt trips him out of being mad about it. The comments in both those episodes are full of her fans completely aghast at her behavior even though her behavior is totally consistent with her persona, I think it destroyed the fantasy of the whole thing for Tana's fans.

There is a yt who did some anthro assessments of a certain youtuber. Liam, i think. You should check it out if you havent seen already. He does a collegiate level deep dive!

    "Acknowledging you messed up doesn't excuse nor fix what you've done." Something I've noticed with Tana and many other influences is that they'll do whatever it takes to get back in the audience's good graces but not to fix the damage. Apologies and "taking responsibility" aren't worth much when you don't show remorse and you don't face the consequences.

    I usually find “drama” type channels and videos to be so obnoxious..I can’t listen to a stranger talking about another stranger like they know them in some tabloid way but your videos aren’t like that. I’m not a fan of any these UA-cam/“influencer” people and wish the influencer thing would go away but when you discuss it, you do it in a way that’s tasteful, respectful and entertaining and manage not to insult or trash the person you’re speaking about (even if they maybe deserve it) you come across as someone who doesn’t make these videos for gossip but to give constructive criticism which I think is important especially considering most of these celebs are like gods to young, impressionable fans. the way you speak on this is tasteful and I think that’s why you’re received so well...at least by me☺️☺️

It always made me annoyed and I recall when this situation was covered by Phill Defranco he said with ) irony that Idubbz wasnt racist though and when he says the N-word its ok so its not fair to call him a hypocrite because he is doing it "for a reason" , that and a few other things are what made me realize Defranco is biased sometimes and doesnt acknowlge that and I stopped watching him soon after. Unfortunatly, her whole team clearly promotes all of these behaviors to line their own pockets. Tanacon, MTV, the wedding etc, were clearly orchestrated train wreck entertainment and she's the designated martyr. Which makes her over compensation with drugs and alcohol make sense. If I thought my only worth was to be hated by the world so my completely dependent friends and employees could live cushy lives I'd probably be pretty fucked up. I mean, no one hates on Jordan for promoting these things or her friends for lounging around her mansion all day. The first time I heard of Tana was the video she did about Freelee. I was actually really impressed that this kid had the guts to publicly stand up to Freelee, and say exactly what she wanted to. I stopped watching Tana for good when she did a storytime about being drugged in a hotel, and then said she watched this person who druged her go and drug another girl the next night, but said nothing. I commented under that video about how irresponsible that was, and her stans CAME FOR ME. That was the first experience I'd had with stans. I was shocked at the death threats and the name calling. Since then, of course I've watched all the drama unfold, but I've never watched her channel again, and will definitely never comment on her stuff again!

    • @KristinaEspinoza
      @KristinaEspinoza 4 роки тому +6

      Do you know if this video is still up on her channel? That whole situation sounds fucked because 1) The stans don't understand the seriousness behind it and 2) Young content creators should not just deal with being drugged and letting others be drugged as a result of being a popular content creator.

    iiSuperwomanii
    Trisha Paytas (much like Tana, I have no idea where she came)
    Jenna Marbles
    The evolution of youtube humor aka the skits that everyone would do back in old youtube
    ...
    This entire thing sent me searching for some og youtubers on youtube rewind and I have never felt so old when I saw Double Rainbow song.
