I'm so incredibly happy to see you back 💕 I'll comment something relevant to the video after I've finished it but...just know you've got a bunch of love and support from the Glowsticks here.
I am SO GLAD that you actually mentioned how integral the guys' partners are to the brand. Most of the other videos barely even mention them at all and ignore the fact that they do work for the company as well, and just label them as the partner.
Something to note here that I only recently discovered from SWOOP’S video: Alex was a fan of the try guys when working at BuzzFeed and there was an implication from her comments that people under the main talent do not speak to the people higher up in the company. They took Alex with them when they left BuzzFeed and I find it hard to believe that that dynamic still wasn’t a thing or at least present in her mind, on top of being a literal fan. It puts more of an icky feeling to the relationship
As someone that’s watched them since middle school, that’s so wild to me. UA-cam is so strange in that there can be super successful creators with millions of followers the algorithm just never recommends.
I beg to differ on Alex being exempt from receiving hate. She knew exactly who Ariel was when she started having an affair with Ned, her husband. Alex was also in a long term relationship herself. She’s a shitty person for cheating on her partner with a married man whose wife she also worked with.
So many females think shes the victim, well shes not. Alex has a "history" of cheating. Both of them decided to sleep around hurting both of their loved ones in the process. Saying shes the victim is invalidating their spouses it's disappointing to say the least.
So originally I agreed with you but try looking at it this way. There are 2 possibilities here: 1. Their relationship was consensual, and alex is therefor equally to blame-- she did all of this by her own choice w/o manipulation and therefor is clearly in the wrong. 2. Their relationship was not consensual due to a power imbalance. (Ex: Ned wanted to be with her and she only agreed bc her job was on the line if she were to say no). In this situation she wouldn’t really be to blame and would actually be a victim While we can argue about which situation is more likely, and while I personally agree that #1 is more likely, if there is even a chance that it could be #2 wouldn’t it be absolutely terrible for us to come after her? That’s like someone accusing someone else of rape, there’s technically a chance that they are lying, but we automatically have to believe the victim due to the implications of us not believing them when they were truly terribly harmed or traumatized
Thank you for the video. Your content is always on point. I agree with 99% of what you said except the fact that you feel Alex Herring has no blame in the situation. She isn't a child. She is 36 years old, she was in a long term relationship, and she was about to get married. Just like Ned monetized his wife guy persona, Alex was starting to do the same with her upcoming nuptials. That must be the reason why her own fiancé exposed them both. I understand that there is a power dynamic, but Alex worked with both Ned and his wife. She understood what Ned brought to the table when it came to the Try Guys. She probably hung around Ariel pretty frequently, and she still had no problem crossing that line. I guess I would cut her more slack if there was proven quid pro quo between the two. But I just think they were bored with their long term relationships and found flirting on videos, while both knowing they were fooling around to be very exciting. They both suck. But Ned will likely never truly recover because he's a fraud. I wish them both a lifetime of well deserved infamy.
this is a good point! also calling her a girl, not a woman makes her sounds like she's a 21 year old fresh employee, not a grown adult who has a long work history with the people involved.
I don’t think they both deserve a “lifetime” of infamy…. that’s nuts. The current criticism is understandable but hopefully they can learn, make amends to the people they’ve hurt and carry on with their lives without this scandal defining their whole existence. wtf a goddamn lifetime
THE QUEEN IS BACK ❤️ I'm so happy you posted. I've missed your content so much. You actually inspired me to post my own content on UA-cam. You are absolutely glowing btw.
Since you've left I've started law school and I'm actually having a REALLY bad day today, so I'm so happy to see you back and it came just at the right time for me personally
We Stan a smart girl! I’m very proud of you, and please remember that “this too shall pass.” Sometimes women are strong because we have to be, so I’m sending you love, support and hope from Kentucky! Keep fighting, sister! You can do this!
I’ll be honest, Alex is a full grown adult. She doesn’t need to be babied because she knowingly had an affair with a guy with a wife and kids and she herself had a fiancé. She’s a bad person and hurt so many people with her actions. Neds terrible don’t get me wrong and his hate is justified but hers is too.
100% wrong on so many levels. 1. The only person to say the relationship was consensual was Ned. No one has come out and stated how it actually went down. So don’t assume based off of that shitty man’s words. 2. Ned was her HR, he was her boss, he signed her checks 3. The try guys have come out and stated not to harass anyone involved. Imagine your mistakes being broadcasted everywhere and millions of people are judging you. That level of judgement and then harassment can push anyone to suicide. Leave Alex and Ned the fuck alone. No one is babying them when they say “don’t harass them”. And finally, Strangers on the internet < the people in your life. Trust that everyone involved is getting the punishment they deserve off the internet. Listen to the people in the actual situation (aka the try guys) and respect that they don’t want Alex to be harassed online
yeah not only that, she was also in a relationship with someone for over ten years!!!!!!! and she knows Ned has a wife and kids! and she still does that!!!!!!!!
People defending her for the actions she has done is invalidating her spouse and Ned’s but they don’t want to hear that. Besides she admitted to almost cheating before. I see some women will stand for other women regardless of their actions.
I do assign blame to the mistress. She hurt her own partner and the way she produced videos where Ariel was open about insecurities just makes me feel very uncomfortable. However, Ned's actions extend a lot further and he deserves more blow back.
i think to say that the woman deserves no blame is insanely black and white and shows no nuance. i agree that the relationship is inherently unhealthy and you can’t have full consent when there are power dynamics at play, but this woman is a grown adult who knew exactly what she was doing. she knew that she was hurting not only ned’s wife and kids, but also her own partner. both her and ned are completely responsible for their own actions. unless she was literally being forced or blackmailed into having a relationship with him, she made choices that were disrespectful, unethical and caused so much harm to people that did not deserve it. i do think ned is worse because he is older and superior to her in the workplace, but it’s not like this girl was forced into doing something that she didn’t know the consequences of. just because one person is more wrong doesn’t mean that the other person is completely absolved of any blame.
I also think people aren’t acknowledging that the power dynamic wasn’t clear. Alexandra and Ned were coworkers at Buzzfeed for years, and the try guys kept bringing their old coworker friends back as guests and hired Alexandra as an old coworker. Plus ned was not the only boss. But their relationship was established more on the grounds of equals rather than being isolated as a inherent power disadvantage
Hannah! I am so glad you’re back. I missed your content. You always make me think out of the box and make me think of different perspectives which I highly appreciate from your channel. I do not know why you left for so long, but all I know as a loyal subscriber we are here for you and know you always put a smile on my face when you upload and take me out of my crazy life for a few minutes with your videos.
I was worried & concerned on why she hasn’t posted in a while so I did some searching & found something pretty heartbreaking. Unfortunately her & Charles have mutually decided to separate. She made a post on twitter about it. I was speechless but mostly prayed she was/is ok & holding strong as best she can
Listen, lots and lots of us have been watching all of the Try Guys "scandal" videos since the news broke, but this is, BY FAR, The Best video thus far, and I'm so here for it! I love that there's such a deep dive into this far beyond the baseline of "this is bananas because Ned is 'the wife guy'". You really dug into a lot of different perspectives on the individuals, the group, the history, the evolution, etc. and gave us such a broader picture of why this hurt so many fans so deeply, and I'd bet a lot of us couldn't exactly put our fingers on just why we were so bothered by this, but you really put words and understanding to this in a way that I think a lot of people *feel*, but have been unable to articulate as well as you've done here. Thank you!
What a queen. Just slides back into content without an over explanation of how needed it was. I was here before 50k subscribers and while you took breaks, they were never long enough for the amount of time you have put into this channel. Glad you took care of yourself and are easing back into things. Hope life is settling down, and you're finding a new groove. ❤
And when the world needed her most, she returned Also just a note if Hannah sees this: never ever feel bad for taking time off for you! Just making a meme. We will always be here :)

It’s definitely what I would have wanted to do myself but didn’t want to fall down the rabbit hall! Sooo thank you Hannah!!! And it’s good to see you ❤
This is random but on a lot of videos I see people talking about ariel being pregnant and losing their health insurance, full house renovation during the pregnancy, but i dont see people talking about how she ended up going into labor FOUR weeks early!! I swear this whole thing stressed her out so much she went into labor honestly a lot of times in hindsight it seemed like this time of life was so hard for her 😭
Hannah I just can’t believe how TALENTED YOU ARE AT STORYTELLING! They way you put this video together was perfect. You didn’t just want to make the same type of videos on the Try Guys that everyone is right now! That is what sets you apart and it shows, your video shows completely different things and shows the back BACK story. Which is definitely needed imo. I’ve watched a couple videos of people talking about the try guys and truthfully you watch one you watch them all. EXCEPT for yours! Once again you are amazing and thank you for the time and effort you put into your videos! Love ya!

In a buzzfeed article recently they said that buzzfeed owned a stake in second try LLC. So I think it's likely that they were able to keep the IP in exchange for buzzfeed having a partial ownership in their company. Also welcome back queen!
I feel like jacksfilms deserves an Evolution of video, he's been in the UA-cam game since forever, he's done it all, reinvented himself and his content, his series kept being the same but with new fun additions and gimmicks that made them feel fresh for both viewers and Jack himself.
Alex is a grown woman who actively knew she was not only hurting Ned’s wife and kids but also her fiancé. While Ned deserves most of the blame, Alex should also be held accountable for her actions

So happy that you’ve returned! Also buzz feed does still have stake in the game for try guys, when they were writing articles about the Ned situation that had disclaimers in the articles
I'm ecstatic that you're back!! I hope your time off has been healing and relaxing, and that you know there's no pressure to come back if you're not ready. Also, as a fan of the Try Guys since they branched off, this is an excellent analysis of them. I do kind of disagree though. I 100% agree that a relationship with a power imbalance cannot be considered consensual and Ned took advantage of his position, but I do think Alex deserves some criticism solely because she also cheated. Granted, Ned is absolutely the one deserving hate, criticism, and pushback, but she also cheated on a partner she was with for 10+ years. The amount of criticism they deserve is obviously on very different levels and Ned deserves so much more of it. Imo, cheating is never okay
As a dedicated tryguys fan (and I’m not a “fan girl” type of person) I’m so ecstatic that my fav UA-cam commentator is gonna be talking about them for a whole video!! I totally trust your summary/analysis :)) so happy to hear your voice!!
I remember hearing (maybe from their podcast) that it was ironically because of Ned that they maintained the IP. He was in a much higher position in buzzfeed than the rest of them, so when try guys was starting to be a series, and no longer a one off, he made sure that the control of the IP stayed with the Gus
I feel like the Try Guys will have their own renaissance and I'm here for it! To be honest, as much as I enjoyed their videos, they felt a bit formulaic (like, of course they've always followed a formula, but lately it felt like they were relying too much on that and it lacked a bit of personality). Hopefully, this change will allow them to expand their experiences, and ours with them. (Also, I really enjoyed the Broadway video, it was *made* for Keith)
Miles, their podcast producer, made a good point regarding the SNL sketch, “There were so many ways/opportunities to make jokes about this situation and they chose the ONE wrong take.”
I was just on your channel the other day because I realized I hadn’t seen you post in a while and thought maybe I had missed an announcement or something. So glad to see you back!! 💖💖
Great video! Small note: the employee that Ned cheated on, Alex, was engaged to another man. So while I totally agree that the workplace relationship was wrong and nonconsentual, she also cheated. They both suck :(
Alex is not a victim here. She was engaged and cheating on her partner, and I truly believe no one would be framing her as a victim if the genders were reversed.
You’re back! I’m so glad to see you. No pressure to explain any absences or do Glowmas if you need breaks. just glad to see you happy when I see you post.

I already can’t wait for more (but no pressure) 😅💖
So glad you're back! 💛 Also I've been wanting to say this about The Ned situation: he most likely called it a 'consensual workplace relationship,' so he wouldn't get slapped with harassment/SA allegations

I hope you’re feeling well and I super look forward to Glowmas if you’re thinking of continuing the tradition this year. :)
I’m SOOO glad you’re back! This video was so thoughtful and well articulated. Respectfully, I do disagree about Alex having NO blame in this. There was a power imbalance for sure and I agree about it never being fully consensual as long as that imbalance is there, but she did still have some responsibility. She is grown and made the choice to have a year long affair with him- being engaged herself no less. Ned should absolutely be getting 90% of the heat for this, but to say that she is a victim with no responsibility is a stretch 🤷🏼♀️
Totally agree with you. Especially due to the fact that there is a power embalance, but so many people act like Alex is some teenager who's just a food baby when in reality she's like 30 and an associate producer. Very much an adult who can make decisions. Legally it's definitely a power imbalance non the less tho.
I have to say I understand where you are coming from about the power imbalance however she does have some responsibility. She knew his wife, kids, and she didn’t care….there are so many choices we are faced w everyday and yes some are 💯 influenced by others but that does not make us blameless when we choose wrong and make mistakes and hurt other people.

As someone that’s watched them since middle school, that’s so wild to me. UA-cam is so strange in that there can be super successful creators with millions of followers the algorithm just never recommends.
@@gothicxromantic Same! Especially since Eugene's Coming Out was a rather big deal in 2019.
Same here. Just saw 1 or two memes on IG when it hit the news.
Same. Ned who? But I was Smokey's 1hr vids on everyone and everything lol
I thought I was alone in this. 😅
💯
So originally I agreed with you but try looking at it this way. There are 2 possibilities here:
In this situation she wouldn’t really be to blame and would actually be a victim
While we can argue about which situation is more likely, and while I personally agree that #1 is more likely, if there is even a chance that it could be #2 wouldn’t it be absolutely terrible for us to come after her?
That’s like someone accusing someone else of rape, there’s technically a chance that they are lying, but we automatically have to believe the victim due to the implications of us not believing them when they were truly terribly harmed or traumatized
@@junecooper7568 most "females" want to hold her accountable. Almost everyone talking about this wants her to be held accountable
@@Amsayy I seriously doubt that.

I need Hannah’s take on midnights!!
You are absolutely glowing btw.
same here, smokey glow was a big inspiration for me to start posting more on my channel too 💙 and um YES the queen is glowing, we love to see it!!!
@@ChloeTheePayne I'm so happy for her ❤️
That pink shade is so gorgeous on her 🥰
@@cgl-osl_ it really does.
Ned's whole personality being his wife just shows he had little to give personality wise lmao
Congrats on starting law school! You’re going to do amazing. Even if you have a bad day or a few, just remember - YOU CAN DO THIS!
Right it takes two to fucking tango. They both deserve the hate that they are getting.
If anything, there needs to be more Alex hate lol
100% wrong on so many levels. 1. The only person to say the relationship was consensual was Ned. No one has come out and stated how it actually went down. So don’t assume based off of that shitty man’s words. 2. Ned was her HR, he was her boss, he signed her checks 3. The try guys have come out and stated not to harass anyone involved. Imagine your mistakes being broadcasted everywhere and millions of people are judging you. That level of judgement and then harassment can push anyone to suicide. Leave Alex and Ned the fuck alone.
No one is babying them when they say “don’t harass them”.
And finally,
Strangers on the internet < the people in your life.
IM SO GLAD YOU’RE BACK!!! I hope you’re doing well. Much love🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽
This!

Very well said!

Thank you!
I literally high pitch screamed when I got this notification. You are so so loved by us parasocial glow sticks. I hope you are well. 💜
Hannah! So nice to see you again !! I hope your break was restful and calming.
And when the world needed her most, she returned
Also just a note if Hannah sees this: never ever feel bad for taking time off for you! Just making a meme. We will always be here :)
As someone who used to follow the try guys-esp when they first broke from buzzfeed but had fallen off until the Ned drama-I’m loving that you are doing this.
Love ya!
couldn’t have said this better!!! i hope she knows how much we adore her

@@Mikayla_Y_1998 LOLLL YES i knew what you meant 🤣❤️
In a buzzfeed article recently they said that buzzfeed owned a stake in second try LLC. So I think it's likely that they were able to keep the IP in exchange for buzzfeed having a partial ownership in their company.
Also welcome back queen!
omg new video just when i was settling down for bed 🥺 thank you so much for this queen, cant wait to enjoy this
I feel like jacksfilms deserves an Evolution of video, he's been in the UA-cam game since forever, he's done it all, reinvented himself and his content, his series kept being the same but with new fun additions and gimmicks that made them feel fresh for both viewers and Jack himself.
i have never clicked on a video so fast. so excited to hear your thoughts on everything and listen to the evolution! 😊
Hearing you say, “Maybe next year, we’ll do a round up…” has filled my heart with so much joy. Thanks for a new video Miss Smokey Glow!
Alex is a grown woman who actively knew she was not only hurting Ned’s wife and kids but also her fiancé. While Ned deserves most of the blame, Alex should also be held accountable for her actions
💯
Please do the "the implosion of Buzzfeed" video! It sounds like it would be really fascinating. You are so good at these

I’m so glad you’re back! I’ve been watching Love is Blind 3 and was so sad that I wouldn’t get a 1.5 hour analysis of it from you
Just turned in an assignment that turned out way too mediocre for the amount of time i had been working on it. Watching this video made me feel a lot better! Love hearing about internet drama to distract myself from stress like that!
“Ned is basically like fight on site for 99% of the internet right now” YOOO hahaha
Honestly, so happy you made this video!! Like I’ve watched so many videos on this topic (bc I’m a huge try guys fan), and I feel like everyone is always missing bits and pieces of either what happened or the severity of it. I feel like only you and KennieJD have really done this topic justice
The way I gasped when I saw a Smokey Glow video in my subscription feed. I’m so happy you’re back, I hope you are doing okay ❤ You are so loved!!
So happy that you’ve returned! Also buzz feed does still have stake in the game for try guys, when they were writing articles about the Ned situation that had disclaimers in the articles
IM SO HAPPY YOURE BACK!! I can’t wait to hear your take and I was just wondering today if you’ve been watching the new love is blind season🤭
Ned was actually in charge of the Intern program at Buzzfeed!
Hey! So glad you uploaded again! I'll get the pop corn ready! Thanks for making these detailed dive-in videos. Hope you're doing well ❤❤
I'm sure this has been requested a ton, but I would LOVE to see you do "The Evolution of Jenna Marbles".
They both suck :(
Hi Hannah! So glad to see you back. I'd love to see you do a video on the evolution of Brooklyn and Bailey. Hope you're doing well!!
So glad ur back! Would love to hear your "evolution of Madison Beer." I feel like she's been through so many eras online since like 2013.
So excited that your back and with a classic banger of a commentary video, love it already

So glad you're back! 💛
Also I've been wanting to say this about The Ned situation: he most likely called it a 'consensual workplace relationship,' so he wouldn't get slapped with harassment/SA allegations
I’m so happy to see you back! Hope your doing so amazing !

HANNAH!!!! I missed you so much and it’s so nice to see you back!!!!
So happy to see you again 💕💕 hope you’re doing well!! ✨✨
That color looks so good on you 😍 So glad you are back and doing better!!
I agree, pink of any shade is really pretty on her.
So happy to see you back and love your series!! 😊😊😊
We've missed you!!! And definitely would love a buzzfeed video
YES TO THE RETURN!!! And yes to a deep dive video on Buzzfeed! I’d LOVE your take on it all!!!!
