IMPORTANT INFO:
The Playstation version of the HD Remaster refers to the items by their North American names: Jupiter Crest and Jupiter Sigil. The Xbox version uses the International names: Mercury Crest and Mercury Sigil.
If you'd prefer not to reset your data but still minimize games, you can save immediately after finishing a League but before starting a new one. The League prizes will change in the same way when you open the Blitzball menu again each time you reload this save file. (thanks to Jeremy Brandt!)
At 8:05 I say that you can fully upgrade the World Champion before you reach Mt. Gagazet. This is incorrect because you aren't able to re-enter Guadosalam after Macalania Temple until you have the airship. This roadblock prevents you from returning to Luca as soon as you have the Celestial Mirror.

I remember being 8 or 10 playing this for the first time. I spent SOOOO much time taking on the Goers too win all because I thought it was required to get Wakka’s ultimate weapon.

Before this video, I was scared of the amount of Blitzball required for this weapon. But I managed to get used to the tatics (Brother and Tidus are beasts). Thank you.
Brother and Tidus Yep and try to let Wakka score which he can do
Brother is a monster but wedge is the greatest of all time. Also 90 percent of the time every player was physically incapable of scoring on jumal.
I’m playing FFX HD now so I can get the platinum on the PS5, and while I love the story and combat, the grind for platinum can be miserable. The celestial weapons are a prime example of this. I’ll eventually have to get Wakka’s celestial weapon so thank you for the video

@@DoubleBuffTeam I also did mess up pretty early in game already. You need to chests revealed by destruction spheres before you can obtain anima, and I ended up missing the one in Besaid. Needless to say, I eventually gotta get my team strong enough to take on dark Valefor. Not looking forward to this considering how behind I am when considering the whole grind
Just Zanmato Dark Valefor. Anima is basically essential to the stat grinding process. Use the SoS Regen Gil Farm to get about 4-5 mil in a single run. Save before besaid, and use however much you want to get Yojimbo to Zanmato. If you do this all right, instead of weeks of stat grinding it'll take 2 hours
Dark Valefor is the easiest dark aeon. That being said it is still a dark aeon. Once we finish producing the guides for the celestial weapons the next stage is going to be on fighting the aeons.
His isn't to bad imo using the reset thing.

I felt like I was playing blitzball on hard mode using the aurochs especially when trying to win the 1st championship. This helps haha basically just get rid of the aurochs lol

So by following this team set up, i jus finished the 10 games in a row without letting a single enemy team score 1 time, completely flawless😭i abused Brother and Wedge, didnt even bother with jecht shot.
Thank you for explaining that you can get it before mount gagazet, a lot of threads online say there are none you can get before the airship and I was sure you could get this one

When I was I believe a sophomore in hs. I did nothing but devote most of my time to collecting the celestial weapons. There are only two I could not finish, Lulu and of course Wakka. But I did manage to understand the game of blitzball very well to the point where I was winning a lot of games. And call me crazy but playing blitzball games sounded better than doing Lulu's 200 lightning Dodges to me. 😅 ( I keep fucking up on dodging at the time. You needed to press X right when the flash happened. Also I was at the tower running back and forth to the crater. ) It got exhausting...

i don't recommend resetting, i would save the game before viewing the rewards for the first time. If you do this and your desired reward isn't there just reload and you'll have a new set of rewards
But this doesn't help when trying to get Status Reels and the sigil because those two only spawn after getting prerequisites from tournaments. Resetting is the fastest way.
Also don't reset data after getting your team coz then you'll have the standard besaid aurochs team. Also don't accidentally go into a match because there's no getting out til it's over.

As of 2022 right now on my Xbox one X this glitch in blitz ball works still!
I was so bad at blitzball 0-3 almost every game but his line up I’m not kidding makes blitzing so much easier, wedge is a savage a scoring with his high shot number. Use break and wither shot. I personally didn’t even use jecht shot. Use his line up and score with wedge or brother.

Brother is a beast
World champion is my most favorite celestial weapon. Especially since I love playing Blitzball. I always run a good team as soon as Blitzball becomes available and obtain all the reels. I keep Tidus, Datto, and Letty. Then replace Datto with Wedge and then I replace Botta/Jassu/Keepa Ropp/Shuu/Miyu when I can. Then I build the same team except replacing Letty with Brother and reset data/play Blitzball until I get Wakkas sigil.
I have finally got this all completed and here is my experience using this strategy.
Honestly all the picks are great and you won't be able to do much better. Definitely get brother if you want to sail through these games with relative ease. He proved time and time again that he was the real mvp. He was my highest level character and even though he didn't score as much as tidus or wedge he set up a lot of the goals they both made.
Use brothers speed to your advantage. The only team you can't really out speed is the guado glories. This means for everyone else as long as brother has the ball you can just swim close to the enemy team, get them to chase, and then pass when you get enough distance to not get challenged. Brothers stats are good but he can't take a lot of heavy hits so remember sometimes it's better to maybe only take 1 hit if you think you can reasonably keep the ball and just pass anyway if more people are blocking. It's not a guarantee that a blocker will touch the ball anyway and thus may not interfere.
Wedge is a great shooter I had to get the hang of him first but what worked for me was his attack stat got pretty high and he has decent endurance so he would regularly steal the ball from mid field right away. Now the important thing to remember with Wedge is his mid range shots are decent and better than trying to get too close and have multiple people challenging you. So the game would start, I would steal with Wedge and then I would swim just a little bit forward and when I noticed the enemy team converging on him as he got closer I would shoot. The middle fielder will likely challenge you but as I said his endurance is good and he can take 1 good hit, but the left and right defense is a gamble if they have tackle techs. After breaking through the mid fielder shoot with wither shot and even if you don't score you stand to halve the goalies catch rating which means you can score from even further range or a close shot will be a sure shot.
Tidus feels lacking to me but the jecht shot does open up good passing opportunities if tidus is by the goal but there are still defenders nearby. He definitely needs some levels to make him more consistent but once you get a 2nd tech slot for him sphere shot is a great alternative if he isn't challenged, less hp cost and possibly higher sht rating than is possible with jecht shot.
Other than that the rest of the team handles themselves well and no special note is really needed. The goalie suggested is good and when he gets a tech slot he gets super goalie which is one of the better techs imo.
As a final note just keep in mind that it's impossible to go back after making certain choices and the last thing you want to do is lock yourself into certain positions that you can't get out of. Have an idea of what you want to do and err on the side of caution, maybe you can take a 1 person challenge with tidus maybe you can't, but jecht shot is sure to at least clear the way. I would even use it early on when he wasn't challenged to guarantee he scores and gets more exp so I advise to use it often until he runs out of steam and then switch to Wedge or brother to make goals.

Tidus, Bickson, Ropp, Brother, and Verujo. After a certain point it became hard to not win with this team

The only enjoyment i got out of doing this was going around recollecting the players. Only because i imagine them them saying "you son of a bitch, im in"

I don’t understand the struggle on blitzball I lost the first game agains the Luca goers then I have never lost after that I’m not sure what I’m doing different but I think it helps that I have probably one of the best possible teams you can get and also jecht shot is absolutely necessary imo and make sure to use it as much as possible and I usually win atleast 3-0 every game. I believe to get the team I got if I remember right because it was a long time ago I think I ran around Luca where the docks are and looked through all the teams trying to sign anyone and I now have 29 wins without losing since the first match. Hope this helps someone at some point 👍
Yeah this game easy but trying to get this dang Sigil is annoyingly time consuming but it was cool.

Unfortunately no, not unless you crack open the internal files from your save. You'll just have to estimate based on your progress and grinding.
8:14 how ? How before Mount Gagazet. I just got the mirror in the calms. How do i get back to luca before gagazet? The bartender needs to see the mirror to obtain the physical weapon, right ?

I dont know if this works on all versions but hd on switch u can save right after the 10th and the League end before u ever look at the prize and the League battle prize will reset instead of resetting everything if ur like me and put alot of time training ur team and hates starting over lol

I managed to win all the reels with Wedge, Tidus, Brother, Ropp, Kyou and Jumal as my team. The Al bhed psychs were hard though, I faced them in both tournaments and again in the league, but in the league they were my 8th match so my players had levelled up a fair bit and I was able to score barely 1 with pure luck of sphere shot. Just have the sigil now, it's just so damn long, I wish I could avoid psychs in the league altogether
Yea the Al Bhed Psychs are good mainly because they swim fast but now I’m to the point where I’m winning games at least 5-0 now. Luca Goers decent too.
My team consisted of Tidus, Wedge, Zazi Guado, Zalitz, Auyo Guado, and Miyu. Brother and Keepa are on my bench.
In league you can essentially afk the psyches and beat everyone else
I smashed them 6-0 with the line up suggested. Once I scored a few goals with wedge at the beginning couple of matches he levelled so quickly. Beat Luca goers 10-0 without any effort

So you need status reels THEN battle 450 times before you have the chance to win the sigil? Is that right?
I believe the fiend battles are cumulative across the whole playthrough. If you have done everything right up to that point, and the Arouch Reels still aren't appearing, go grind out some more battles.
I just played another league after getting Aurochs reels and another to have the Sigil appear cause ain’t no way I was going to reset data when I worked to hard/grind but thanks
My mercury Sigil vanished from my inventory after opening the Luca locker twice. The crests and sigils were in different places and for different character. Can’t unlock Wakka’s weapon due to no longer having the mercury sigil. Gutted.
Have you tried loading an old save? That might help
Mine didn’t on Xbox finally got to break some damage limits with Wakka!
Do you need to do it in order like this:
-Get one overdrive
-Fight 250 times
-Get another overdrive
-Fight 450 times
-Get the final overdrive
-Fight more
-Get the sigil
Or can you just wait until endgame when you have 1000+ battles and they'll all appear one after the other if you reset?
First way. You gotta unlock the specific over drive for the battle thing to reset.
Look I literally just played the game normally and just got everything in one Go without thinking and Wakka,TidusXB1,and Brother was all I used the most for Scoring. (Xbox one X).

At the beginning the Aurochs were the worst team in Spira, they were the Houston Texans of blitzball. But if your hire Wakka and keep your original team they turn out pretty good.
I got “mercury crest” from the locker room in Luca, isn’t it for rikku? I’m so confused, I’m playing it on switch it matters
I thought it was just me! I got Rikkus weapon last week and It was the Venus crest which is lulu’s I think but it still worked. I’m also playing it on the switch.
Different consoles use either the North American names or the International ones. There's no difference mechanically, but I wish I had known that when we made the guides haha

@@jackieliu1232 That's correct. The North American version (Playstation) calls it the Jupiter Crest, and the International version (Xbox, Switch) calls it the Mercury Crest, but it's the same item.

Wow it took me four hours to beat the league, won every game but... are you sure everyone loves this game? So boring, 8 -10 hours for 1 celestial weapon. Granted it's the best one.
Blitzball was fun for me as a kid. It drives my sanity off a cliff these days lol. Cody still swears by it but I can only play it so much now. Wakka's weapon is worth it though!

What is overworld and how can I tell if I've done 250 battles cause I keep resetting andstatus reels isn't showing up btw I'm the endgame
The overworld is any non-city map where random encounters can occur. The number of battles you've had isn't tracked anywhere (I don't think), so if the overdrive isn't appearing, you should try and fight more fiend battles.

Correct. That's why you hire them for 13 games, so their contracts expire right before you reset your data. You waste the least amount of money this way.
@@DoubleBuffTeam arggggg, I'm not big fan of square soft mini games, but I will try to play Blitz with the same team until I get the weapon part and the overdrive, hopefully I don't get bored though, Blitz is extremely boring when I understand how to win 😅

great video man appreciate the help when I was a kid I did it the legit way but 7 year old me thought blitzball was fun, 20 year old me says I don't have the time to play possibly hundreds of hours of this shitty minigame
This was helpful for a replay but don't reset your data. Just restart the game and it changes if your gifts
Spending several hours on blitz ball just to achieve three items for endgame is crazy. I have no problem with tournaments but league should’ve been at least five games.

tidus dont have jet shot when you reset ? how would i use jet shot on the league?
When you reset your data, all players return to level 2, and you need to be level 3 to equip techniques. Tidus can't forget the Jecht Shot after you learn it. You just need to level him up.

I've given up on getting the outer 3 overdrive moves for wagga years ago Yes, I don't have the patience to play the blitzball minigame anyway
So instead of reset data on blitz, just restart your system until you get the desired prize
I haven't tested this to know if it works, but if it does, more power to you! Do you need to finish a League but not start a new one?
However, resetting your data also resets character levels, and the roster we suggest is extremely competitive at low levels. Personally, I like playing blitzball, so I don't reset my data anyway.
@@DoubleBuffTeam yes just finish a league then turn your system off and on and the prizes will change! Just don’t start a new league and you’re good. Tbh blitzball gets a bit boring after a while for me, I wish it was more like fifa or 2k any sport game.

You have to be at least 3rd place at a League, which is 10 matches total.

Blitz all might have been tolerable if you could actually swim, or you know, play a full contact sport in anything that isn't JRPG menus

@@destroyermcw626 Idk if you tried since you posted the comment but... yes and no. The Sun Sigil is annoying purely because controlling the chocobo is a pain in the ass, on top of having to get balloons AND dodge birds. It can be done, it just takes practice. I have done it like 4 times across all my complete playthroughs. The Sun Crest is easy. Just grab it after you fight Yunalesca, else it'll be blocked by Dark Bahamut later and be much harder to get.
@@richardsinclair7661 Yes as I posted at 1 in the morning on my Xbox one X I tried and got it less than 30 minutes and a Diamond Achievement because I was too curious about this 0:0:0 time thing or whatever and I used the D-pad like the game told me.

@@destroyermcw626 I posted this before I got the sigil lol I actually ended up slightly enjoying blitz by the end of all the tournaments and shit to get the sigil. Really the key is just making a good team and having a basic understanding of it. It's all about who you recruit. I personally never lost a game once I got my lineup. And you dont need Nimrook! Though it helps to take them away from their team because they are incredibly hard to score on.
