  • This is a complete run through of how to play Stone and Mike's parts to "You Are" from the RIOT ACT Album, including some live variances.
    I'll also show you how i use the Korg Electribe ER1 to get the effect that Matt Cameron used for the album version and that Stone uses live. Enjoy!

    When this album was released, one friend and I were missing Dave Abbruzzese on drums.. 'You are' was our favourite song of the album, and we realized that was composed by Matt.. we couldn't believe it, so we just said: 'Ok, but those smashing guitars are Stone's or Mike's for sure'.. then we read in the album box that were recorded by Matt.. we didn't know how to react.. after seeing your video.. we just can present all our respect to super Matt Cameron.. God save Matt! :)

      Zigor Marroquín Martínez yea it’s the most creative guitar effect on, I think, any of their albums! And it’s by the drummer 😀🤘Awesome tune too, tricky to play live as you’re at the mercy of a drum machine!

    I've been watching for ages and subbed as well for a while now, just never commented. This one, however, deserves all the praise in the world! Wow. Just wow. What an absolute tune, and you did a stellar job deciphering it. Absolutely smashed it!
    And Matt Cameron man, what an incredibly talented musician!
    Been trying to figure out how to play this song for a while now. Had most of the bits and pieces down, and knew it was a drum machine, but I had no clue as far as the whats and (especially) hows go. Seemed a daunting task, having to learn how to play through a device I've never used before, so I never even got around to buying one. But not anymore thanks to you, Matt, so thank you for this lesson, really!
    I award you 200 internet points for your efforts, do with them what you wish :)

    I feel like this was supposed to be a Soundgarden song. But it was 2002 and Matt figured they’d never get back together so he introduced it to his Pearl Jam band mates. It would have been interesting to hear the way Soundgarden would have developed Matt Cameron’s idea. Still a great PJ song though.

      I know what you mean, it is very Soundgarden-esque. Just shows how much of their sound is due to Mr Cameron i guess. He da man!

    Superb effect! By the way, does tuning your guitar in a different tuning besides the standard one damages the guitar?

    • @LetsPlayAll
      @LetsPlayAll  5 років тому +1

      Well i'm no expert but i think changing tunings for the odd song here and there won't but if you put overly heavy guitar strings or want to change permanently to an alternate tuning you may just need to get it professionally setup so the neck stays straight.
