    Good day, Mate! I’m pretty new to this whole world of off roading and 4x4 upgrades, so a lot of what you are saying is quite foreign to me ! 😂 But I am impressed with all the stuff you’ve done to your Land Cruiser . It looks really well kitted out, and my hats off to ya. If I ever come to Australia I’ll have to get you to help me with mine! What an amazing rig! 👊😎

      @@XploringOz You got It, Mate! 👊😂 I'm from Tanzania in East Africa. Lots of great overlanding opportunities here in many parts of the country so I'd love to get in on that! But I got causins living in Sydney so hopefully one day I'll get to overland in the outback as well! 😎

    Great content and a very nice build.
    Any thoughts about the need for a rear locker on the LC200? I’m considering it for my overlanding trips. Lots of highway driving, soft sand desert crossings and lava fields (in remote areas in Saudi Arabia). My use is not for rock crawling or dune bashing.

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks mate, appreciate the comments 👍
      I have done a video on the traction and crawl control systems and I think they are awesome. I haven’t put a diff lock in my vehicle just because I found I haven’t needed one just yet.
      The crawl control system work especially well from Toyota, however a diff lock would be that little bit better again.
      For me, I don’t see the advantage of a diff lock (for the cost) for my style of driving and I have comfort that I have a winch on the front for self recovery in most situations if necessary. Cheers, Nathan.

    Great video! I was wondering if you could tell how you wired up the lights on the roofrack. Did you drill a hole for the wire or does it go throught the rubbers of the tailgate?

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  4 роки тому +4

      Cheers mate. The roof lighting is wired through the interior of the car, up through the factory grommet in the upper tail gate and through the gap. My 12V video and Solar installation video talk about it. 👍 hope this helps.

      Hey mate, sorry I can't provide too much detail on this. Ultimate 4WD Equipment in Bibra Lake, WA did all my wiring during the installation of most of the aftermarket accessories. I wouldn't be able to comment on exactly how they managed that. I'm sure a local auto electrician would be able to help you out though.
      Cheers,

    Hey mate, great video! Question regarding your lift and GVM....you mentioned you have the ARB GVM upgrade, and have put the blackhawk UCA's in which is the same as what i have done in my 200 and all signed off with our 4000KG GVM, but you went on to say about the diff drop kit that you have also put in. I have the ARB GVM and i could not put that kit in to get it signed off with the GVM due to ARB not having that in with there approvals for there kits. Im in WA and my GVM is done pre rego as well. Have you got a way around this or did you put it in after and you are not worrying about the issue with having it in and not registered with GVM? Cheers!

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks mate, yes, so I had the same issue. Although the diff drop does not breach any Vehicle Standard Regulations (VSR) or Australian Design Rules (ADR) ARB have designed the kit specifically for a quick and easy approval process with their standard fitment.
      I had the diff drop installed after the GVM kit was inspected and approved, however there is no reason or requirement for this to be 'registered' as such with the GVM kit. They are perfectly legal and work well.
      Hope this makes sense, thanks for watching.
      Cheers, Nathan.

    • @roamnround
      @roamnround 4 роки тому

      XploringOz thanks for that Nathan and makes perfect sense! This is a new build and I am trying to get it all right and keep it well above board. I am glad that the information is the same as what you got though as there are just too many opinions If I’m honest with not a lot of facts out there but this is good news. Can I ask did you need to do it then, as you have really noticed the difference?
      I am a new subscriber so you now definitely have a new watcher from here mate I think your videos are great! Starting my own channel to document my build and our trips and getting a few tips as you make it look pretty easy! Keep up the good work mate and I’ll be looking out for your plates around Perth!
      Cheers

    Hi, you said the tailgate light was a plug and play install. Where did you purchase the kit? if there is a kit.

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  4 роки тому

      Yeah, so the ‘plug and play’ kit is only available for the Sahara models, as it takes power from the auto rear tailgate switch. I got the kit pre-made from a member off the Facebook 200 Series group.

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  4 роки тому

      Cheers mate. I got this little light off a member on one of the 200 series owners Facebook pages. He just makes them privately and sells them individually. Having a quick search of any of the larger Aus 200 series pages and you'll find who you need to speak to.

    how do you manage with the spare wheel when you have the drawers on top?

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  3 роки тому

      Luckily for this model the spare wheel is accessed from underneath the vehicle, so mounting drawers does not effect this.

    y'all folks in AUS really put these cars to work. I have the US version gas engine LC 200. The only "off road" my car sees is few inches of snow on our way to ski resort. How long does your cars last in your environment? I reckon they start breaking down after a few years of use?

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  4 роки тому

      They sure do get worked hard in this environment.
      If maintained properly these cars do last a while. This model is a ‘14 and still going strong.
      I’ve always lived inland as well, so we’ll and truely away from salt water so there’s no surface rust or anything like that on this car.
      I think the corrugations and hard 4WD do take their toll a bit, but in the end, we buy 4WD’s to take them out and to explore 👍
      How do you find the gas engine? We don’t have many over here.

    • @ktkl68
      @ktkl68 4 роки тому

      XploringOz I live in the US - we only get the gas engine version. I have the ‘15 model and love it.

      Nice! Are they a popular vehicle in the US? They’re a dime a dozen over here.

    • @ktkl68
      @ktkl68 4 роки тому

      XploringOz Not too many Land Cruisers in the US. In fact, rumor is Toyota will stop selling LCs in the US after 2022.

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  4 роки тому

      That's not good news. I know that the rumour in Aus at the moment is there is a strong likelihood of us losing the 4.5L V8 Diesel engine, mainly due to emissions standards.
      It would be shame to loose such a capable and reliable vehicle over there.

  • @aal-m3545

    I have been thinking about a new off road car , i am torn between 2 , Chevy trail boss or land cruiser 200 series , but i am afraid that the LC is underpowered

    • @XploringOz
      @XploringOz  3 роки тому

      Both nice vehicles. I can understand the concerns with the LC200. I am assuming that your are in North America? Here in Australia, our Chevy Trail Boss' are labelled differently and are well overpriced. We look at about $157,000 AUD for a Trail Boss and about $124,000 for a LC200 Sahara (top spec). I know which model I would choose here, it sounds like it might be a different compromise for you.

    • @aliveoutside248
      @aliveoutside248 3 роки тому

      Seriously there is absolutely no comparison. The 200 series is in a different league. Never mind the quality and reliability, one quick peek underneath you see how over built and how everything is tucked away vs hanging down on the Chevy. It’s a “trail boss” in name and bed side stickers only... your going to pay for it tho... in north America your looking at double the price for the Iconic 200 series LC
