  • In this compelling episode, Emma Kenny delves into the chilling and heartbreaking story of Hannah Windsor, whose life was brutally cut short by Adam Lewis. Set against the backdrop of the UK, this tragic tale is a stark reminder of the darkness that can lurk beneath the surface in seemingly ordinary lives.
    Emma Kenny, with her expertise in psychological analysis, explores the disturbing mindset of Adam Lewis and the series of events that led to the tragic murder. She examines the dynamics of the relationship between Hannah and Adam, the warning signs, and the impact of this tragedy on Hannah’s family and the wider community.
    Through a careful review of the investigation, trial, and the societal reactions to this case, Emma discusses the broader implications for youth violence and relationship dynamics. This episode seeks not only to tell Hannah's story but also to shed light on the importance of recognizing and addressing warning signs in potentially dangerous relationships.
    Join Emma for an in-depth exploration of a case that challenges our understanding of human behavior and the need for vigilance in protecting the vulnerable.

      I agree. I've been working in the mental health & addictions field for over 20 years & the stigma exists even among professionals. While working in the admissions/intake dept. I had several therapists say to me jokingly, "No Axis 2 clients." The DSM used to use a multi axial diagnostic system in which Axis 2 was where Personality disorders were listed. They have since removed the Axis system in the revised DSM-5.
      For those not in the states the DSM is the "Diagnostic & Statistical Manual" published by the American Psychiatric Association to classify & diagnose mental disorders.
      Emma's description & empathy toward ppl with PD's is something I wish could be taught to future & current clinicians.

    • @michaeljones5069
      @michaeljones5069 2 роки тому +7

      I have EUPD but I gotta be honest I am highly controlling in relationships, struggle with drugs, have a ferocious temper and I worry about what I could do in reaction to a break up or abandonment. I've never killed anyone, but most people including most psychopaths haven't. I think it's pretty different in women or at least the only other people I really know to be diagnosed are women and so I think maybe it is different. Like stalking your ex for example -- I don't know any girls that have done that but it was something I did for a long time with one of my ex girlfriends. I definitely feel empathy though, although I think some of my ability to do so beyond people I'm really close to has been maybe damaged by trauma I experienced at a very young age. I am a lot better now at 23 than I was during my late teens but that's partly cuz my income now comes from something legit.

      Totally agree,my daughter last night was admitted to a psychiatric unit via a section 136-she has EUPD and we have an absolute nightmare getting help whilst she's in crisis. Thankfully last night the police saved her life and the two psychiatrists that agreed admission actually listened. It's just heartbreaking 😪😪😪

    I cried so hard when Emma was reading out the statement that Hannah's parents wrote. I connect with it on the ABSOLUTE deepest level. I lost my brother and i remember during that whole time i didn't for a SECOND want to hear any of the typical phrasing that people say because i know they are just words and don't mean anything. Because at the end of the day when those words are said and done my brother still laid in that coffin and there was not a DAMN thing i could do about it

    • @DeidreL9
      @DeidreL9 2 роки тому +5

      @PhantomX, l understand. I lost my mum in November last year, and nothing helps, nothing makes it better. Our culture doesn’t have the words or language to talk adequately about loss and grief. It’s like a taboo, as if loss is infectious. There aren’t words to express the depth of our feelings. Time does help, but it doesn’t make things different. We just grow around the grief, like trees around a stone. Please be kind to yourself, don’t expect to one day feel like new, like people think happens. They mean well, but they are deflecting. Just do things to ease your feelings when it’s really bad. Give yourself time and space. Sending you strength🙏❤️

    This case reminds me of something l read. If you completely bake a cake, then realize you forgot the sugar, you can't just put it on later and expect it to be fine. It was likened to a young child not being provided nurturing, care and services from the beginning, how there was no substitute. This story makes me think even with help in prison he'll be a danger to others. It's just too violent and depraved. That can't be rewired, IMHO.

    As for Adam Lewis, His Brain is fully Developed so for him to Commit such a Heinous Murder at the Age he was at the Time, I doubt there’s any Rehabilitation that could change His ways. He’s where he should be and Hopefully where he’ll always be.

    Beautiful Emma, your dedication and devotion to doing these cases justice is so admirable. It's difficult to explain, but the way you deliver your content is so unique. You have a rare gift for being able to make the listener feel safe, despite the dark information you're giving. The way you present everything with your personality shining through is so different to any other crime content I have ever seen. Your protective, intelligent and deeply compassionate nature makes me feel like I'm in good hands every time I watch your videos. You're a gem, the world needs more people like you x

I can't thank you enough for that. you are such a kind and understanding person x

You are helping me heal through the worst time of my life, times when I find myself looking at a bottle of pills and just wondering why I’m staying. Because I am staying, and lm hoping, in the future, to help others in some way. I just hope you read this, because you might not realise how much good you are doing. And that, alone, honours all of the victims you discuss. Much love ❤️

    Total side note but It took me watching 3 of your videos to realise the judges are all called mr/ Mrs justice such and such… the first time I heard it I thought “that’s cool that their name is justice and they became a judge” and the second time I thought “ooh that’s a coincidence” and the third time… I felt an idiot.
    Anyway, I’m new subscriber and can’t believe I haven’t found you sooner! Not sure why I haven’t as I’ve been on the true crime side of YT for years, but glad the algorithm finally worked because I’ve been binging your videos. I was one of the VERY few people who knew she was in a relationship, I never knew his name until afterwards, I was also on the bus with her on the 16th of May, she told me she was going to see her sister.
    I think she was attempting to tell that monster to hand himself in.
    She was a lovely young girl and I miss her dearly.
    She was very intelligent, she knew how to keep secrets, unfortunately she kept them too well, from her support workers, the police, her family and her friends. If she had spoken up things might have transpired much differently.
    She wouldn't hurt a fly, she lay down just a few weeks before to protect herself from attacks from bullies, no defensive attempts made, I personally stepped in to stop the attack. She was an angel. RIP Little Red Riding Hood xxx

    I really don’t think that this individual, like Aaron Campbell, should ever be released. I also think that a variety of brain scans should be applied to all violent criminals requiring incarceration. This is in the interests of building datasets of a size that is both significant and useful.
    As for the parents of this “young man” and those like them, society needs to start being judgemental about them. I used to work in a youth service and parents used to drive me to despair with their utter idiocy at times.

    Children should start watching Unsolved Mysteries at the age of 5. People can be evil, life can be cruel and all children should be taught that. Watching true crime makes me terrified for my daughter going into the world more and more as she approaches secondary school and will have more independence. I obviously want to protect her and shield her from what a dark place the world can be. However, I feel like I need to find a way to introduce her to the dangers of the world. I feel like I took stupid risks as a young person because I'd be told not to do certain things but I was never told the reasoning behind it. I was so sheltered from the scary reality that faces a teenage girl and I feel like I put myself in some horrendous situations because I didn't understand why I shouldn't be doing it.
      I want to be honest with my daughter to educate her but I don't want to terrify her to the point it is detrimental to her experience of life. I feel like in a perfect world I wouldn't need to introduce her to these horrors but if I hide it from her she has no way to equip herself and to really assess the risk in potentially dangerous situations. I just want to know how to teach her what she needs to know without causing emotional damage.

      @@haileyranson8255 watching Unsolved Mysteries (Netflix or even UA-cam ) is what my Mom showed me. It’s not violent or gory but the stories are true and it’s told in a calm manner and the reenactments aren’t scary. I’m happy my mother told me the dangers of the outside world. I think a little nervousness and caution is better than the worst case scenario.I was a kid in the 90s and back then, kidnapping was extremely prevalent. It's monster like this which have ensured that my teenage daughters are Black belts in 3 martial arts. They also know how to use sticks and how to defend and disarm knives. They regularly train against full grown men and win.
    My eldest daughter with her friends was accosted by a group of lads. Although she was hurt she floored 2 of them and put a stop to any more trouble. The lads involved received prison sentences. She only 16 at the time.
    I'm fully aware that this is not full proof but knowing these self defence skills gives my girls a chance. Don't think it will never happen because I did and it happened. God only knows what would've happened had she not had the skills she did.
    Recently, less than a mile from where we live, an 18 Yr old girl was snatched from a bus stop and brutally murdered by a local man who was known to play in a popular local band. He was so unassuming.
    Less than a mile away this happened. Get your girls to self defence classes or martial arts, give them a fighting chance.

    • @Amy-hj5hj
      @Amy-hj5hj 2 роки тому

      John Walsh, that case is interesting though, it was never solved. Ottis Toole confessed to it, but they could never prove he actually did it. There’s ties to Ted Bundy possibly doing it. Although that would be completely outside his normal MO. John Walsh did a lot of good things after Adam died.

      @@4runner510 yes, that’s right. It wasn’t Bundy, it was Dahmer, my mistake. But there are definitely others. Florida is very transient. It’s terrible that they never got closure. Although John Walsh said in his book that he was convinced Ottis Toole did it. The police botched the investigation though. They lost the bloodstain carpet from the car, the machete he supposedse to use it to captape boy, and eventually the car itself. Like how do you lose a car? They did eventually close the case, and they’re satisfied that Toole was the murderer.

    My husband and I adopted a thirteen month old baby girl ,her mother dropped her off in my daycare and never returned for her after a lot of back and forth with CAS and child welfare we were granted interim custody, the adoption was finalized when she was four . She had behavioural problems from the beginning but as a experienced mom with a degree in early childhood education it was not something we could not cope with . Until I came into the bathroom to find her flushing a kitten down the toilet. I saved it but then I found her trying to cut the ear off our dog because she did no harp e the dexterity to use the scissors she failed , then a few days later she informed me she’d killed a kitten , she beat it to death with a toy gulf club . After a lot of Doctors visits and a long investigation into to her little mind my five year old was diagnosed with Conduct disorder childhood onset . No treatment available no way to really help her . This was the most devastating news we had ever had . We lost her in a house fire that she seems to have started herself when she was seven .

      I have no words, whilst you must have been terrified by her behaviour conduct disorder is treatable with therapy, bio feedback and therapy (lots of it) it’s wrong that you were so horribly abandoned by the services. I’m so sorry you lost her, to lose a child this way is beyond devastating. Even though she may have developed anti-social personality disorder (or not) this wouldn’t mean she would become a killer as the vast majority do not. She displayed the Macdonald triad which of course was scary for you. I am glad in her short life she found you and knew love and compassion and I can’t imagine the pain you have endured xxx

    My son is non verbal autistic and has global development delay and possible adhd but the paediatrician wants to wait until he is 6 as he is too young to be diagnosed for that typically which is understandable however as you said there is a delay there when it comes to childhood experiences such as interacting with peers and you do have to work harder as a parent to ensure that they are able to interact in a "normal" way (Hate the word normal hence the brackets) but with time and slow but persistent methods my son is now able to go to places such as parks or soft play and be around other children comfortably and these children have included him in their play which is heart warming to see and you can see my son is enjoying it whereas before he would be left out and on the side. I do however keep an eye on him from a distance (as I always try to give him the same level of independence that I would give any 5 year old by not hovering by them at all times) because sometimes he will get overwhelmed and there's too much noise so if that happens I take him aside so he can regulate himself because I don't want him to view playing with peers as a negative situation.
