To those commenting about Alison looking down at a video monitor or teleprompter, why does that matter at all? I would rather listen to singers sing the words correctly than screw up throughout a performance. Alison just didn't know the song by heart. Not a big deal. You won't find a video out there of her missing a note or screwing up. She's pretty much the best there is anyplace and anytime and it's really not even close. I don't know who I could put above Alison when it comes to being pretty much flawless in any live video. Celine Dion and Beyonce or Christina Aquillera are all awesome but Alison is amazing every time.
I was just glad they did it together and she whipped out that solo. A few looks down to make sure you have it right not going to fault her. Seen her so many times and never dissappoints. Hope I get to hear live music again in my life time.
Saw John Prine in Sydney, Australia in 2019,he used a teleprompter all night .....didn't detract from one of the best performances I have seen in my 70 years RIP John, thank you Alison and Bonnie great tribute, great artists!
I saw this show in Raleigh same week. They were incredible . Part of outlaw fest with willie and Lucas Nelson. Promise of the real did a set and Allison did a set with her band ( not union station) . Oh did I mention Marcus king opened up the show ? The whole show was just legit every single moment. Ol willie held up just fine too and his son Lukas carried the guitar load for his dads set. Best performance of the night was Devine miss Bonnie . She was just completely bad ass and can just kill it on slide guitar.
Alison Krause is a singer who has the ability to sing with just about anyone. And Bonnie Raitt, well Bonnie Raitt is Bonnie Raitt, she sings from deep down in her soul.
My Lord, two angels sharing the same stage performing a duet for the ages. Speechless and shedding a tear to honor a treasured American iconic songwriting genius. RIP John Prine 🙏
two of the very best in the business, covering a song ideally suited for their different, complimentary voices - LOVE their cover of this John Prine classic
Bonnie as great as usual doing the finest rendition. Alison's harmony adds a new sound to it and her expression during her violin playing was almost trance like....what artists !!
I was introduced to this song by my husband's uncle from Texas where he listened to Bonnie when she first sang this song, he brought me the c.d from Baytown Texas to Ozark ar .he has now gone but every time I here this song, reminds me how much I miss him.
.......she's got something to say that's for sure! You can hear it in her voice and see it on her face that determination it's a good thing I'm surprised she doesn't have a song called "act right" then some men really wouldn't get her lol I'm glad most do!
RIP JOHN. Bonnie and John were quite a team. Nice to see Allison here with her fiddle. And beautiful rendition live by young John Mayer. Good to see this song being picked up by the next generation. A timeless beauty.💜💕👍
John, I love you so much, but this takes it to another level. The little fiddle saw and the harmony, wow! When Bonnie accompanied Prine, she was the Angel. When Bonnie host Alison, Bonnie is chasing the Angel. The house doesn't even know it's on fire!
Lyrics I am an old woman Named after my mother My old man is another Child that's grown old If dreams were thunder And lightnin' was desire This old house would've burnt down At a long time ago Make me an angel That flies from Montgomery Make me a poster Of an old rodeo Just give me one thing That I can hold on to To believe in this livin' Is just a hard way to go When I was a young girl Well, I had me a cowboy He weren't much to look at Just a free ramblin' man But that was a long time And no matter how I tried Those years just flow by Like a broken down dam Make me an angel That flies from Montgomery Make me a poster Of an old rodeo Just give me one thing That I can hold on to To believe in this livin' Is just a hard way to go There's flies in the kitchen I can hear 'em they're buzzin' And I ain't done nothin' since I woke up today How the hell can a person Go to work in the mornin' And come home in the evenin' And have nothin' to say Make me an angel That flies from Montgomery Make me a poster Of an old rodeo Just give me one thing That I can hold on to To believe in this livin' Is just a hard way to go To believe in this livin' Is just a hard way to go
Someone below mentions that moment at 3:20 when Bonnie reacts to Allison's playing. That is perhaps the main thing I like about Bonnie: she doesn't just sing songs but lives them as she shares them. She is the ultimate poet of heartbreak songs, largely because she invests so much of her own heart as she sings. I heard her say in an NPR interview once that she arranges her concerts so she doesn't have to sing two of those heartbreak songs in a row because singing them just empties her for a while. She needs to do an upbeat, fast song before she is recharged and can sing another song drenched with pain.
I did not notice it live but yes her reaction is so genuine in the middle of the song to Allison's playing. Interesting you say that about two slow songs she followed this with I Can't Make you love me. It was emotionally exhausting. So amazing.
I regret I can only give 1 thumbs up.
Prine lives on in the music of Bonnie and so many others. He had gold inside of him. He blessed us all. Thank you John.
Well put Bother! 👍
Prine wrote this song for Bonnie
Either of these two women could just start singing the day's baseball scores or random IRS tax returns and I could still listen to it all night.

Some people try to find flaws in perfection and miss the beauty of it all
Here Here
Bonnie was tearing up. Very moving rendition by these two. R.I.P. John.
It's hard not to tear up playing some of John's songs. They speak of pain so purely that you feel it.
Yeah. Well John Prine died about 9 months after this performance, so..l
God! Bonnie Raitt and Alison Krauss singing one of John Prine's best? Thank you John, and Bonnie and Alison. It doesn't get better than this.
If one doesn't believe in angels, just look into Alison's eyes, listen to her voice, her playing, and then they'll know angels do exist!
Angel with too much Botox
You know ..that fiddle playing of Alison's is the equivalent of Bonnie's slide guitar...ethereal !
Alison is bat s*it crazy, but she has some talent.
RIP in John Prine. Great song and love this rendition ❤️❤️
If you are ever asked what good music sounds like, show them this video.
RIP John
I have spent many, many hours listening to Bonnie, and not all were tear free. Alison of course is incredible. What a treat to see them together.
Alison Krause is a singer who has the ability to sing with just about anyone. And Bonnie Raitt, well Bonnie Raitt is Bonnie Raitt, she sings from deep down in her soul.
2 awesome angels from Virginia Beach.
A high and a more low female voice together....both are coloratura voices...aetherial, agile and light...this is supermusical
One doesn't so much hear the music... You can feel it, the story, and there love. And have a huge emotional responses... Love to them
My Lord, two angels sharing the same stage performing a duet for the ages. Speechless and shedding a tear to honor a treasured American iconic songwriting genius. RIP John Prine 🙏
Two American greats. What a version.
Three… don’t forget the composer Prine
If listening to these two don't bring tears to your eyes, there's something wrong.
Bonnie is just always amazing and Alison is a classic. Beautiful. And God Bless John for this most amazing song. I
There's two unique beautiful voices right there. We need more like these two now a days.
"We need more like these two now a days".. instead of no-talent blockheads like Cardi B.
I love your comment thankyou, music, peace, kindness and love makes the world a better place
...damn...can't get more Americana than this...peace...love
Bonnie's voice is the foundation and Allison takes that soul music to a unearthly spiritual experience. . . Lovely.
Agreed!
Bonnie always takes the soul too.
My God, this is professionalism personified. Perfect in every way.
Thank you Bonnie, Allison and all who give us such musical joy. RIP dear John. We miss you.
When that fiddle starts to sing, bring a tear to your eye.
Yup Bonnie visibly moved.
John your angels are calling us to carry on your love
what a treasure is Alison Krauss, my ears are happy when i hear her sing, and play
that violin, i think i hold my breath- when she performs.
Her voice so special.
artvandelaythethird she really does have a special voice. And she's so beautiful too.
Don't get any better then this.
Even more powerful there. Amazing!
I never saw these two amazing women perform together. What a treat! I hope John got to see this.
Love Both You Beautiful Ladies So Much
✨the gold rolled through his veins like a thousand railroad trains ✨
Broken hearts and dirty windows!
There are many great female vocalists... But these two are something special... And together.... Wow!
Absolutely perfection exquisite I am so pleased and honored to be able to hear this
Two absolute angels singin' about an Angel... doesn't get much better!
I wish I could "like" this 500 more times!
9 grumpy people disagree but thanks!
Goose bumps, and then tears....
Holy crap! I would have been a molten pile of jelly after this show. Two of my favorite voices in harmony. I can die a little happier now.
To believe in this living is just a hard way...to go
ARE YOU KIDDING!!!
two of the very best in the business, covering a song ideally suited for their different, complimentary voices - LOVE their cover of this John Prine classic
So F-ing perfect
SO LOVELY!
Two of God’s angels 👼 here! Rest In Peace John Prine. Your music is timeless!
Beautiful rendition ..brings tears to your eyes. Two talented musicians paying tribute to a well written classic song.
Beautiful duet!
How is that much talent on one stage not breaking the laws of physics?
Bonnie as great as usual doing the finest rendition. Alison's harmony adds a new sound to it and her expression during her violin playing was almost trance like....what artists !!
A couple of national treasures here...
I was introduced to this song by my husband's uncle from Texas where he listened to Bonnie when she first sang this song, he brought me the c.d from Baytown Texas to Ozark ar .he has now gone but every time I here this song, reminds me how much I miss him.
Amazing and graceful performance! Thank you Lord for these talented souls
😇Goosebumps! RIP John Prine😇
WOW!!! Exceptional...
Wow.... if you can watch/listen to this without a tear in your eye, you have a cold soul. This is what heaven sounds like🐳
Bonnie has always been one of our countrys best. She brings such a high degree of, well, everything to the music table.
I hope that youtube could give her a better notoriety in France.
Goosebumps 💪🙌
a wonderful rendition of the great John Prine song
To believe in their voices!
What an incredible amount of talent on just one stage. Thanks for sharing! Made my day!
Glad to have spread the love of that night!
Wow, sublime!
I was at this very concert, probably just a few rows behind you. Nearly a religious experience this was. Once in a lifetime.
Really maybe once in a lifetime now. So glad I made the trip.
.......she's got something to say that's for sure! You can hear it in her voice and see it on her face that determination it's a good thing I'm surprised she doesn't have a song called "act right" then some men really wouldn't get her lol I'm glad most do!
Moves me so much.
“For John (?) and the angels that keep him here…” John Prine??
RIP 🌼🕊💙🌼🕊
Hadn't seen any recent footage of Allison in a while...my God, she's stunning.
Frozen with botox
Check her out with Robert Plant
Hard to pick a better rendition, this one or Ruthie in Austin. Beautiful women making beautiful music.
such admiration for both these fabulously gifted people/singers/entertainers... nice pairing - always authentic.
I saw Bonnie perform in 1974 at Mt. Holyoke College. I am still in love with her !
RIP JOHN. Bonnie and John were quite a team. Nice to see Allison here with her fiddle. And beautiful rendition live by young John Mayer. Good to see this song being picked up by the next generation. A timeless beauty.💜💕👍
This sent shivers down my spine
Oh, my! This is exquisite. Ms. Raitt and Ms. Krauss, thank you!!
John, I love you so much, but this takes it to another level. The little fiddle saw and the harmony, wow! When Bonnie accompanied Prine, she was the Angel. When Bonnie host Alison, Bonnie is chasing the Angel. The house doesn't even know it's on fire!
I wish we all could have been there, Fantastic performance !!
Heartfelt
Two of the best.... very very special ladies..
God I needed that. Thank you beautiful women.
That's how it's done.☘️
No one talks about Bonnie’s hair. It’s fierce. I hope all the Irish love her
I can only say one thing about this song and this video....OH MY GAWD....AWESOME....
Still a tremendous voice. I love her dearly all over the years.
i've been searching for the greatest duet harmony, other than blood. I HAVE FOUND IT!!
Lyrics
I am an old woman
Named after my mother
My old man is another
Child that's grown old
If dreams were thunder
And lightnin' was desire
This old house would've burnt down
At a long time ago
Make me an angel
That flies from Montgomery
Make me a poster
Of an old rodeo
Just give me one thing
That I can hold on to
To believe in this livin'
Is just a hard way to go
When I was a young girl
Well, I had me a cowboy
He weren't much to look at
Just a free ramblin' man
But that was a long time
And no matter how I tried
Those years just flow by
Like a broken down dam
Make me an angel
That flies from Montgomery
Make me a poster
Of an old rodeo
Just give me one thing
That I can hold on to
To believe in this livin'
Is just a hard way to go
There's flies in the kitchen
I can hear 'em they're buzzin'
And I ain't done nothin' since I woke up today
How the hell can a person
Go to work in the mornin'
And come home in the evenin'
And have nothin' to say
Make me an angel
That flies from Montgomery
Make me a poster
Of an old rodeo
Just give me one thing
That I can hold on to
To believe in this livin'
Is just a hard way to go
To believe in this livin'
Is just a hard way to go
We observe the passing of a gentle giant! Thank you!
WOW!!!!
WOW!!! Breath taking. This is talent.
His song writing made everybody look good
ANGELS indeed... thank you for this
Glad to do it!
Absolutely stunning 😭
Damn that was awesome! I’m a big fan of both of those ladies and to hear them together playing angle is tops.
I saw Bonnie play in a college gym in "75. It remains my principal yardstick for feminine desirability to this day.
Silky smooth.&
Done with the flare of two great gal's...Awesome !
Ladies please keep doing what you do because it's one thing we can hold on to'...thanks for posting..

I want this in excellent quality. If I really enjoyed this, I would cry with good audio
Angels indeed.
Alison Krauss is a tunning fork for people like Bonnie and Robert.
That was incredible. Had to listen twice. VB you are LUCKY to have seen that!
It was a moment followed by I Can't Make you love me amazing show.
No words are worthy.
Close to heaven right here on earth.
What enormous talent together!
Mark that a keeper.
Alabama's State Song? Vote!
Every time I hear this song - I hear John. Thank you for your words and music, sir. Eternally relatable.
