Saw Bonnie live in 1979 in a smaller venue and when she sang this song the audience went silent, her voice was so clear and true that we were all transfixed. I’ll never forget that performance
This song helped me recover from a toxic 32-year marriage. I am in a good place many years later but this song still gives me goose bumps. Thank you, Great Ladies!
Me too. 32 years and 5 days. I hope you are healing and finding Your Self. That's a long road. Take good care and enjoy the Hell out of your Freedom!!! Bright Blessings!!! PS. I am revisiting all my old Favorites!!! Hahaha Before I became an old Hippie....😂
@@allisonbenjamin2449 43 years and I am still afraid to leave. Now that he's (we are) so old we have to take of each other no matter the past, sadly....
Note the respect Brandi Carlile shows everyone. Even the sound tech. She is beautiful, talented, beautiful and she gives me goosebumps every time she sings.Bonnie, well you should know by now.John Prine RIP.☘🇮🇪
I was named after my mom, lived in Montgomery Ma, am now 70 +, and was married for 30 years to a " child who grew old " ( who I miss incredibly ). This is obviously my favorite song that I lucky enough to see both Bonnie AND John Prine sing a bunch of times , LIVE! That's the good thing about being old music lovers!
52 years since I first heard JP sing this song, and not long after that I heard Bonnie’s cover. I’m glad that it still reasonates with people after all these years.
John Prine lives on through his beautiful songs that get reinvented by other great musicians who bring them back and add further layers of soul to them. Thank you Bonnie and Brandi. 🙏
When I saw her sing this song live a few years back. I started weeping like a baby just from the intro . Lost my little brother 40 years ago at 18 yrs of age and my mother donated his organs . She received a letter from a young girl’s parents thanking her plus giving her their sympathies. 😢
I worked sound for years in the 80s-90s. I love watching Brandi's perfectly clear sign language to the techs. I like to hope that she's a dream to work with for the crew.
I will never tire of hearing Bonnie sing. Her voice is still in excellent shape, after all these years. I got to see her in the Woodlands, decades ago, with none other than the Great John Prine opening for her. Unforgettable!
I was about 30 when I first heard this song and foolishly thought I knew what it was to feel like an old woman. Now I'm 60, and I really feel old. If I live even 10 more years I'll look back at 60 and wonder why I was such a fool to think I was old.
I've never seen Bonnie Raitt do the same arrangement twice on this song. She switched the words "thunder" and "lightning" on this one, and it still makes sense. She slays it every single time. Brandi Carlile is no slouch either.
Love this song, and the anthem Bonnie has made it, along with so many great artists singing it with her over the years. Brandi gets the honor, rightly so, of being added to this list...and the heart of John Prine who wrote it - God bless them all! I heard that an "angel from Montgomery" was prison slang in Alabama, for getting a pardon from the governor. We are all spiritually imprisoned in normal, material life - and many times, willfully so. To let time roll by like a broken down dam, without addressing whatever spiritually ails us - is just a hard way to go - but not the only way to go. May everyone find peace with their Maker and seek spiritual grace and freedom - whatever that means to each individual seeking spiritual meaning. Thank you all. May peace be with you, praise God, Hare Krishna - may we all find our way home.
WOW Bonnie this took me back 35yrs to your London gig when I felt blessed to be there and here you perform this John Prine classic. You still have that magic you’re still the best 🙏
I adore John Prine’s music, especially Angel From Montgomery ❤❤❤❤❤ Now I am an old woman, lol, wow, I have loved Bonnie since 1975, her music introduced me to John Prine, Bonnie and Brandy sound great together!!!! I’m not named after my mom, but several of my nieces are named for me, my mom & my mom’s mother 😊
Vinyl record, 197?. Left it with my GF when she decided to move on. Next thing for me, (Bonnie Raitt-wise), The Glow on 8 track, at FtCKy. She's awesome. I hope to introduce her music to the grandkids!

she has always been outstanding,......full of talent and class.
Same in the early 80’s.
Yes first saw her in the early 80's college years ! Timeless 🎸🎤✌️❣️

Took me awhile to find myself. 23 years of marriage. I realized I loved women. Four kids later but hey I'm glad I found myself.
John Prine lives on in our hearts through his stories and his music.
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Love to hear prine songs. Makes the day better ❤
At least he got to hear Bonnie sing this.

Are you Dennis's sis?

The respect these women show each other is spine tingling
OMG - just stumbled over this ... love, love, these two women. Been a Bonnie fan for 50+ years!
I'm having trouble expressing how much I love these two women singing this. ❤
52 years since I first heard JP sing this song, and not long after that I heard Bonnie’s cover. I’m glad that it still reasonates with people after all these years.
Bonnie Raitt popularized several songs. None less than this one.
One of my favorites of all time...JP was smiling over this rendition.
Talent abounds on that stage, John Prine is smiling from the veil beyond.

Bonnie has still got it. Singing keeps some people forever young.

Just bought tickets to see Bonnie in New Orleans in November. Another one off my 72 years bucket list.
The wife & I are seeing Bonnie in Portland ME. This will be my 3rd time & Third State. My 1st was 1974 @ Wolftrap in Vienna Virginia. Can’t wait!
I've never seen Bonnie Raitt do the same arrangement twice on this song. She switched the words "thunder" and "lightning" on this one, and it still makes sense. She slays it every single time. Brandi Carlile is no slouch either.
The word switch is a nod to John.
Bonnie and Brandi 🎼🩷😁🙏
RIP John Prine 🌹 🕊️
Blessings to the Family 🙏 💔
Thank you for Sharing.
This was one of my mom’s favorite songs. She used to talk about seeing Bonnie play at St Cloud State back in the day. Thanks you for making me cry.
St. Cloud Minnesota?
One of my all time favourites, too. My personal opinion is that Susan Tedeschi delivers the ultimate version.
I agree!
My order is Susan, Bonnie, then Tanya.
Super! We had such a great time! 3 days of musical heaven with a beautiful closing tribute to Moms!!
Wow Brandi is cracking her voice. Country girl at heart. The two of them are great together.😊

WOW Bonnie this took me back 35yrs to your London gig when I felt blessed to be there and here you perform this John Prine classic. You still have that magic you’re still the best 🙏

We saw her in a small arena last year and she was great. You could have heard a pin drop when she sang this.
Beautifully done. I just listened to Grace Potter singing this song and what can you say about Susan T?
They did a good job harmonizing
Wow!
Great!
Bonnie!!!!
How the hell can somebody go to work in the morning, come home in the evening, and have nuthin’ to say?
They are amazing!!!!!
Holy cow, was this with your on-board mic? That's mind-blowing!
Vinyl record, 197?. Left it with my GF when she decided to move on. Next thing for me, (Bonnie Raitt-wise), The Glow on 8 track, at FtCKy. She's awesome. I hope to introduce her music to the grandkids!
Wow

Top Gun
I love John Denver’s version of this song.
I thought stage was gonna lift off into space
Carrie Elkin does the best 5:53
😭👍😎🇨🇦💫💘
I got the hell outta dodge.
Sigh🥲
Hey, just sing the song. You won't be able to talk about how it was wrote. That story came from elsewhere.
Bonnie has been a true legend for years. Brandi always seems so self-serving and narcissistic. Sorry folks.
I love Bonnie and her version of this song, but am I the only one who thinks Brandi is just a bit full of herself?
Yeah, you’re the only one.
Bonnie is incredible. The other woman is quite annoying.
Hahah you’re clueless
Two Beautiful Ladies singing a Beautiful Song ❤
Beautiful ❤
Wow!
