I love this James Taylor song. He wrote it when his father after a phone call for help drove all the way to New York to bring James home so he could deal with his drug addiction. Everytime I hear this song I am reminded that a father's love is the most precious thing. If not the world might have lost one of the best troubadours of our time. I love this version. Alison Krauss has one of the most gorgeous crystal clear voices ever.
Thank you for writing of the love of fathers. Much has been written about the love of mothers, but a father's love is deep and powerful, too. It is unique, individual and devoted in ways that are difficult to put into words. A father may be a person of few words, but his connection to his children is often more precious than his own life. Fathers are often misunderstood because they are not often as open about their love for their children as are mothers. Perhaps that is a common fault,.but this story about James Taylor's father speaks volumes about the connection of love he felt with his son.

Now, nobody could or even should try to cover 'Fire and Rain' because that is just too personal a song and means so much to himself.
Pure magic. Alison's gentle voice, Jerry's dobro.
Man.....that is some kinda perfect voice. Wow. I always loved this song by James Taylor - but her voice takes this thing to an entirely different level. Just beautiful.
Alison K. In my mind singing
Can't you just listen to this everyday, such a beautiful voice and she carries her like a lady should.
I try to. Beautiful. Just beautiful. You can lay back, take a deep breath, close your eyes and your whole body relaxes.
She's country and bluegrass and the voice and the face of an angel
This is one of my favorite songs it always brings a tear to my eyes😢😭
When he wrote this song so many years ago..
sweet baby James could have never imagined it being brought back to him like this.
How rare to hear an all-time great song and think that the cover is as good or even better.
Simply gorgeous!
Exactly my thinking when I first saw this piece....

ME 2 !!!
Agree!!!!!
Glad to see people are still listening to her songs. Voice of angels
I'm from Canada but went through the Carolinas, on motorcyle, a number of years ago. Cannot listen to this tune without pangs of absolute longing......Beautiful.....
More musical talent could not be found in one person than there is in Alison Krauss.
This lady is amazing.
One summer. I was 16 years old I did THIS for two concerts back to back.
One Saturday went and saw HER at the Ravinia pavilion - had a good time.
six days later saw James Taylor and he STARTED with this song.
When I think about what a perfect woman would sound like all I can think of is Alison. Her voice is like warm honey.
I'm an atheist, but I swear that woman has the voice of an angel.
God bless you.
The power of “ Mother 👩 Earth “ ❤🙏😍☺️🥰👌💕🤞😻👈🎶🤓🎼
Me too but this is the nearest thing to proof of the existence of God as anything I've ever seen.
I’m sorry for those that don’t believe in God. You’re missing out! The Bible says in Psalm 14:1 “The fool has said in His heart, there is no God”. Praying you have a change of heart.
@@carolcarden4712 let’s see how it plays out 😣😧😖😩 .
Pure and sweet soulful voice. Thank you God for sending her to us.
As a North Carolina native every time I hear this song pride wells up in my heart.
The vocals are superb but the instrumental between Alison and Jerry is AWESOME!!!!!! This is the first I've heard of this version and my hair stood on end!
having moved to North Carolina..it's the most beautiful place ever..
I’m almost 50,and when I was a teenager one of the public broadcasting companies in Australia,The ABC ,commonly used a song by Alison as a way to fill time between shows. This was
due to the fact that there are no adds on that channel. So due to the insight of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation my generation has known of that amazing voice since she started crafting it.
She is the the Woman we wait for to bring us back to real music. Love her
@Hello Robert how are you doing
What's so soothing for me is that my life has been so ruff and tumble...ms Alison smooths out all my rough spots and gives me peace..thank you Jesus
@alisonprvt1 I think I must be in heaven where the angels sing....but if not, I'm close by here in east Tennessee. You really made me happy today, thank you so much, and God bless you..only angels can hold a halo next to you ❤️
@alisonprvt1 no I am not, but I will be praying for you and your crew to be safe in your travels. Someone must have been praying for me, that I am sure of. May Messiah be in your heart always.
@alisonprvt1 if you would like to
@alisonprvt1 oh yeah I got Allison singing, going to Carolina on my play list...simply lovely
@alisonprvt1 I asked my son, the lawyer, about the felony of identity theft, he said Dad, it is common and needs to be proscueted...take down your subscription immediately or I will take the actions neccassry to have you taken into custody...one never knows who they are dealing with.
This is one of my absolute, all-time, closest to my heart, favourite recordings and rendition of this gorgeous song. Although it was recorded 13 years ago, I just keep coming back to it. Absolute perfection.
Good music is like a fine wine it will only improve and mellow with the passing of time, just enjoy.
