      @occamsrazorblade that is delusional.
Notice how calm the cops were originally before the dude started getting aggressive and started running?
Your point doesn’t make sense because it didn’t work out for him and all he got was a beating when he continued to resist. That makes him look incredibly guilty.
It’s Detroit, you know how many car jackings there are? You can’t take someone’s word that it’s there’s without proof which is why they DETAINED HIM, and were trying to talk. When that video was taken, dude would be talking it out with the cops while he is sitting in the cop car. If the cops don’t listen and proof is shown and still arrest you, perfect! Now you get a pretty penny out of the court system. When has anything come out of resisting besides a brand new felony?
I had a friend that locked her keys out of her car. She called the non-emergency line and got a cop car and a fire chief SUV and got the door open in 2 minutes.
When will our generation understand that not everything is out to get us and we have to fight the system? You’re absolutely a college grad talking like that, you try that and you’ll get arrested the same damn way.
If you actually have the balls to talk to officers face to face and be completely honest with the situation and are willing to be detained while they figure out you’re the owner of the vehicle (their job to make sure you’re not stealing), you’ll be released and even have a nice conversation if your not a complete depressed idiot that thinks all cops are out to get you.
How may I know this? Because a friend of mine was detained for the exact same reason by DPD. All of that happened in the span of 30 minutes. He was released and ended up having a nice conversation with one of the cops as the other opened the car for him. He got his paperwork, showed the officer, and was let off. It’s almost like that’s their job 🤔…
Keep politics out of it as well. I could say the opposite for the other side as I can point to every place run by the other party and how much crime and innocent deaths they never want to bring attention to or fix.
You can keep living in your fantasy reality and be stressed all of the time or grow up. Maybe even take a ride along, ask your questions, learn more about how departments should operate so you know actual bad cops when you see them instead of cops making a legal arrest for a guy that fled and resisted for something he wasn’t even guilty for.
I think we both know you won’t go through that effort though, too much effort.

@@Delta_NWAB747fanall he did was to tell them he's not giving them his ID and ran because the cops tried to grab him to unlawfully arrest him. Suspicion is not a crime, once the suspicion of that crime is dispelled, cops should have disengaged, not force someone to ID themselves as an ID is not going to tell you if the person is currently committing the crime. These cops should've used their common sense, they were told multiple times it's his own car

If I'm this guy, I try to show them something that proves it's my vehicle. Now, the registration is probably locked inside the truck. But he probably has a picture of it on his phone (unless that's locked in the truck too). The guy needs to understand that the police do have a legit reason to engage with him; this isn't the best time to turn into a civil rights auditor.
That being said, if the guy wants to make things difficult (mainly for himself, not for them; because they're on the clock getting paid and they LOVE these kinds of confrontations) then the cops can just sit back and watch him break into his truck. When he finally gets in they have a pretty legit reason to initiate a traffic stop or a Terry stop and demand proof that he owns the truck.
But as usual, it's Escalator going UP (right from jump street) . . .

If you’re gonna be suspicious carry around your id! Of course they’re gonna stop when you are trying to get into a car without a key, simply tell them it’s yours give id and enjoy the rest of your day.

I wouldn’t recommend that, they asked for your id not plate number. Just get your id or verbally identify if you don’t have it on you.
Then tell them you locked yourself out, very simple but that guy clearly had authority issues.

I hate to side with the abusive police but the man should have complied with the police in giving his name and telling them the truck was his own. His actions looked like an illegal act. And, yes, theives are brazen enough to steal a truck with people watching!

Stealing in front of the same people who told the cops it's his own car? Do thieves also don't run when approached by cops? Use your common sense man, you love siding with cops, an ID is not going to tell law enforcement is the man is committing that crime

How likely do you think it is for a locksmith to decline a police officer's request for identification? Is it reasonable to think someone using a jimmy to gain entry to a vehicle is actually committing a crime? Our society has seen much worse done in broad daylight; it is not unreasonable to think someone could be breaking into a vehicle. The police had a reasonable suspicion to believe something was not right. Do you want police to actively not investigate scenes where it looks like a vehicle is being broken into?
