This is why I do not care for these club and saloon scanning apps. Why do they wisht to scan it for? Just look at the identification and verify it. The places that scan, I inform the person at the door that, "I do not do that" and not for him (Bouncer/Doorman) to do that. Of course, there are times that I am turned away, no problem at all with that. And, there are times where a bouncer/doorman agreed, and I gain entry. However, I've always been suspect of those scanning devices that these bouncers and door people use at these clubs, pubs, and saloons.

A photo of your DL, is accepted in many states for some official purposes. Because things are so easily variable, there's a push to go digital.

It happens way more than you think but because this guy was working had a car was trying to be middle-class and couldn't be spun as a thug they had to release him, police do literally go to the hood and just pick any black male who vaguely matches a description send them to jail and collect their bonus for solving the case so quick.
Now every single person in jail says that they are innocent so nobody even believes when people are actually innocent. And if you have any priors at all, maybe you had some weed maybe you got in a fight, you're now a criminal for life and whenever you need to be sacrificed to the for profit prison system you won't have the positive outcome this man has. And yes this is a positive outcome, heck even if he served a couple years he's luckier than most.

That's why they should do a 'walk thru' arrest. They get arrested, taken to jail, photographed, fingerprinted and then released with a court date to begin the process. Then, upon arresting the wrong man, he would be fingerprinted and the prints won't match. Then they would know for sure that it's 2 different people.

I 100% believe this happens a lot. I had similar happen twice. First time a cop stopped me believing I was a friend of mine. Melissa Horton. I even point out to him that I don’t have her tattoos or blue eyes that u have the wrong girl the cop got another cop who knew both of us (it was small town everyone knows everyone) and he vouched form me this was when I was 16. Then same girl use my id we looked kinda similar. Before covid in like 2000 got a hold of id and she gave it as her own to police for possession charges. She was tied to clear it up but they didn’t believe her so months later in the mail I get a warrant I walk to police station in Lompoc thinking I am gonna have to spend night in jail to see judge in the morning. I explain to officers what had happened. Who they were looking for and they pull up her rap sheet see that we do look simular he was gonna still book me in cuz he wasn’t 100% convinced. Luckily a sheriff that knew me my mom and the girl who committed the crime came out and asked what’s going on. I told him he said I know both these girls and I know that charge is not hers they let me go.

IT can be argued that if a person KNOWS that THEY are Innocent, regarleess of warrants or what the police thinks, these people should be immune to arrest and charges if they defend themselves acrding to the law, aka self defense, against this life changing and life detririorating event, even if that is flat out killing the cops

  • @AceFurley

wasn't the process putting ink on fingertips and saving the prints on a peace of paper created over a hundred years ago? that's a pretty easy backup in this case! I've got a few minor convictions from my brother using my name and police taking his info at face value during the early 90s. And It's kinda hard to fight a case when your thrown in jail unexpectently, but can't prove you were literally in another country at the time, because your passport is downstairs in the property room, and you can't get it until release, which entails pleading guilty in the 1st place to get out of jail! And if you can't afford an expensive lawyer, and know about the justice system well enough to know that public defenders work fpr/with the prosecutpr, so will do nothing but plea bargain! (I didn't have any close people outside to help at the time, being single and a loner, and was not gonna trouble mom!). Luckily, this never affected me too much, besides trying to apply for housing, loans, and my reputation a little bit. But it still drives me crazy, because even knowing what I do now, I'd still have to do the same thing over!!! And I was a middle class, catholic, college educated, mostly white kid with a clean record and I had zero chance!!!. Any young kid of color caught in the system is screwed, no matter how obviously innocent!!!!!

It's the same thing thing here in Baltimore MD, actually on top of that the police here has a list of crimes that they will not arrest someone for or even prosecute , one of them is Assaults, the police has to see the crime happen or if it happens to someone who is important. The person who is assaulted has to file with the courts and the courts decides if they are going to prosecute it and in most cases they will not. It just happened to my sister, these changes are not due to covid either, its because of those screaming to defund the police and police discrimination
