    In regards to CBRN suit:
There is a suit basically made with the FM12 in mind.
This consists of a few layer.
Your base layer is a "Remploy Frontline Britannia" this has rubber seals at feet, hands and arround the mask. And kinda "sticks" onto the FM12 through friction. (this is what gives gas protection with the seals and charcoal)
Over that you got the british army NBC gloves.
Over that a second overall called "Remploy Frontline Peeler" (this protects from splashes, droplets and is fire retardant)
And then you also get rubber boots. The name, I dont know though...
There is also a carrier vest with drinking blader+avon adapter available to complete that kit :D
As well as "flash hoods" out of nomex. As well as "assault suit gloves" with a mix of leather and nomex.

Yes, I’ve heard of those but actually didn’t know that name, thank you for that. Really quality suits i’ve heard, i that are constantly sold as new old stock surplus. Although, oftentimes just uncommon outside of the UK.

@@yomada7790 There currently are remploy "peeler" suits on ebay shipping from Germany. So in the EU, if your interested :D. 40€ for one.
I have a peeler. (not the britannia yet)
And I really like it ! Have only tried it on with my MSA ultra elite so far. My Avon AMF12 is coming the mail tomorrow. (very exited btw xD)
      So I will try that.
I have to give one warning though !!!
I washed my according to the instructions of the suit. (40°, no dryer, says it can be laundered 10 times)
And... Well. Not a good idea. All the "glue strips" that are internally stuck onto the seems came off. Had to cut them all out or pull them off. And then wash again to get rid of the remaining glue. I used a very "bio, eco" friendly soap that doesnt use harsh chemicals.
So maybe just water wont do this. But be warned !
I will check if it is still water tight now. Otherwise I will be getting some liquid "seam sealer" and giving it a once over with that.
      That being said !
comfort wise ? This is a A+ ! I got one in my size. And its is sooo comfy !
I can move in it. It isnt super super hot. It goes around the mask nicely. And in general feels like its built to last. I might even wear this outside when the weather sucks. Its that comfy. Definitely recommend !

Yeah the FM12 drink tube is the same as the M50. The M50s drink tube coupler is a bit lower profile tho so that it doesn’t clash with the comms port when opening (a design change from the XM50 trials), but the connectors remain the same.
Another point to maybe consider, at least from what I’ve read, is also changing out valves. I’ve heard that Avon masks cycle through valves at around 5 year intervals or sooner depending on usage. That’s why I kinda prefer the M50 platform given that I’ve had better luck finding valve replacements (unless if I’m not looking correctly lol).
Lastly, maybe taping the VPU will work? Idk lol. Apparently they did this with the M45 sometimes when adapters weren’t available or on hand.
And yeah the Israeli hoses don’t work as far as I’m aware. There was a person having trouble with their Mira PAPR connecting to their FM12 since Mira sources their PAPR from israel
    Overall tho great info!

Thank you for confirming, and thank you for the additional information! I had never known about the valve replacement thing previously, but that could explain why 2 out of 3 of my valves are “sticky” valves !
I also mentioned that Israeli PAPR part _because_ of that video and MIRA xD

@@yomada7790 no problem! And yeah I found Mira’s PAPR to be quite amusing when I heard of the threading issue, especially due to their self inflated ego and how they’re constantly trying to outdo Avon lol

The one with the two openings is only available with the new versions, I have an older version that doesn't have it,but you really don't need two.

yea i totally agree because most people never actually use 40MM masks with both ports in use anyways! lol

    • @michaelgammage9382

that's a common thing people repeat but the ports have nothing to do with age, i have multiple fm12's (with drinking straw so it's not the ct12 version) from 2001 with 2 ports, and I have a couple fm12's from 2009 with 1 port, the age of the mask has nothing to do with amount of filter ports, i'm pretty sure it just depends what country and application it was produced for that determined that

  • @SirJosh1987

So pretty much without filter it’s just a fancy Covid mask right?

    • @yomada7790
      @yomada7790  10 місяців тому

Pretty much, the same could be said for any gas mask. The filter is the real thing doing all the work, and mask is basically just a vehicle for said filter.

where do you think the best place to get a fm12

    • @yomada7790
      @yomada7790  Рік тому

Personally, I’m almost always going to say the best bet is going to be Ebay. But FM12s are particularly common even on domestic sites in a few European countries such as the UK, Netherlands, and Denmark. Otherwise I’d again try Ebay mainly. Hope that helps a bit!
