I should give classes about this topic. I can`t eat almonds. I Was poisoned by gas in military school. I have had classes about this stuff for 5 years. Anyway, the Mira gas mask is cool we used it a lot, for people with no money you can buy M10 CZ for around 60 bucks, and the US filter will fit in, don't forget you have to take care of any rubber parts on the mask. Many people forget for a nuclear or biological attack you need full body protection and equipment for decontamination...I can go on and on 😎😎

Most people really don't need a CRBN respirator, but if you live in an area commonly affected by forest fires, or sand storms, etc - anything that will aid your breathing should be considered.
At a 3 letter agency I worked for 25 years ago we were issued an Avon FM-25 CRBN respirator.
At another, we were issued a Mira Safety CM-7M CBRN respirators.
Mira has a new one, CM-8M.
Another thing to consider is wearing a respirator and shooting a long-gun:
The filter placement should be on off side vs centered on the face, (like those Israeli surplus masks). A full face respirator will allow a better sight picture vs those with 2 eye holes.
Shelf life on filters are between 10 and 25 years, but they MUST remain stored in their original tin containers and in a climate controlled area.

You know, there's a lot of things I missed in the chairforce, but sucking rubber wasn't one of them. That said, a few years ago, I did kit my family up with some gas masks. My thought was better to have it and not need it, but probably won't need it. So I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a MIRA or something like that. So I scoured the internet for New Old Stock surplus masks. You really have to learn what's out there, and pay attention to who your buying it from. There's one mask who's design was used in Poland and France, and one will pass off as the other. Some are in good condition, others not really. The ANTIFA types we're buying these up in 2020. Israel seems to make good masks for their civilian populace. There was a surplus dump on the market a few years ago from isreal. I think they updated or switched to a new mask design. I also think that surplus dump has pretty much dried up by now. I got my wife one, and my daughter one.
Youth masks are a little tricky to come by, but my little girl has the best I could find for the money. NBC filters, I think last about an hour. (Edit: In a contaminated environment) So you'll want several. Keep them sealed. They will last past their expiration date some, but once you crack them puppy's open, the deterioration begins. I have ONE filter, i opened for training and testing, and when I'm done with it, I put the plastic caps back in, to slow down the deterioration of the filter.
A lot of gas masks are sized. You have to fight the right size for your noggen, one size fits all is the exception, not the rule.
This might not be the best way to test a mask, but aside from the standard seal check by holding your hand over the filter and sucking in the air, i grabbed a can of aerosol air freshener, a really smelly one, put the mask on, walked into a bathroom, closed the door, and made a fog with it. Couldn't smell a thing. Take the mask off, and yeah, I could smell it. I figure it works.
Gas mask carriers are easy to come by. Store the whole kittencaboodle in a cool, dry, dark place, so the rubber and eyepieces don't deteriorate.

You need a whole CBERN suit for it to matter. Save your money and just buy Smoke Mask. Stuff on fire makes nasty toxic smell. Also get non tinted lense and just wear Sunglasses under if needed.

Yes I own Mask, it's type is, "classified".
And I would love to see more urban combat, CQB, And squad activities in a hostile, and or extremely Contested environment.
Like say I needed to infil 28 guys through a major Urban center, head off to a creek that turns into a river go down about 8 km, then maneuver off to the side of a major pink coke traffic point. Yet not engage but to set up 3 road control points of 6 men each, sand bagged in, while the rest set up O.P. hide sites, stay a few hours until after they are well in place. And then after doing some completely unrelated bull, go into town with all but one check point of personal. To see what the most common used dress, mode of transport, version of language used, and accents. Smells, sounds, and so on. While officially checking for logging violations on log trucks coming out just to get updated intel on new paths that can support heavy weight vehicles, and allow room for them to maneuver a little. And about what speed the vehicle can get to. Take this to help plan the 3rd follow up, missions egress routes. While two more fakes are scheduled so we just become a part of the scenery and not any kind of anti drug unit. More of checking for protected wood types, and making sure the ppl who drive have licenses. And so on, ( the road blocks litterally become a blind spot after a few trips through them).
I keep meaning to call you, but I honestly don't know what a good time would be to do that.
There is something I wanted to talk to you about. Be careful around the 7th of December.
So yeah, love the content, I am sure you understand the reality of what is going on.
And keep up the good work. I would ask that you maybe do some maneuver to contact, break contact, bounding, team coms. And ambush prevention, detection, and survival. ( and I mean more than well get off the X).
Things like what parts of a fire code building are secure, and have separate ventilation along with various other things. How to plan for an op even if its just hunting, rescue, or reacting to hostages like school shooters and the local cops exercise their option to not protect you. As they are nor legally required to offer any protection, aid, service, or intervention in any form to any person who is not already in their custody.
That's why they can let you take 16 stabs from a maniac and only when the knife sticks in and he can no longer hurt them then they may act. If the so choose. As they have Zero absolutely zero legal obligation to protect/render aid, and intervene for any person not already in their custody, and this is across all Leo and letter groups.
    Side note, auto correct sucks.

Hoping I never have to use one of these again. Still dealing with medical issues from the last time I needed one.
Went through a chemical attack as we were crossing the border into Iraq for Desert Storm, or Operation Granby as the Brits called it. As my team was crossing the border with 4 Brigade, 1 Armour Division, UK. There was an airburst artillery round that went off over our heads, with some type of powder substance coming from it. We were already in MOPP 3 with everything but our masks on. I was the driver, so it took me longer to get my mask on. Our chemical alarms were all sounding, but our chemical monitors would not tell us what the chemical was.
Still dealing with issues from this and probably all the other substances we were exposed to almost 32 years later. I am highly sensitive to various pesticides, that our FDA and EPA seem to think are safe because they get all that money from companies like Bayer who now owns Monsanto and all these other companies that are poisoning us. It is hard to avoid these chemicals, because they are in so many of our foods and cosmetics. I can get a serious reaction, just walking into a room with someone wearing something like Axxe,Old Spice or Avenno body sprays.
Maybe I should get a mask for any time I have to go to the city, or any place with lots of people.

Come on Top!!! You know it’s called a Protective Mask… I suppose you call your ID Tags, “Dog Tags”? Lolol… just being “that guy”, all in fun.
You bring up great points…having CBRN capabilities IMO is waaaay down the list of things to own for the most likely emergencies… I mean, it’s not just having a mask… MOPP suit, boots, decontamination kits, dosimeters, etc… are all part of that particular kit for that particular event, by all means read and drill once in a while to stay familiar, but like you said, tackle the likely emergencies and have those down cold… before you invest time and money in other areas.
If anything, some sort of emergency fire hood with filter is more of priority to own, especially if you work or live in a high rise. But, it has to become part of one’s EDC.
On the flask conundrum while wearing a pro mask is easy to fix… you have to think like a SPC! You’re going to have to upgrade your carrying capacity from a pint to a quart and pull out the USGI one quart canteen with NBC cap!!! Lolol…waaay more capacity for tears!

A couple other things to note regarding Mira gas masks from a reddit user who did a fair amount of research
"Let me make a few things clear before I begin talking about Mira's masks:
Contrary to what I have heard many claim, Mira Safety does not manufacture gas masks. They instead get them from Czech and Russian manufactures and resell them in the United States. The CM-6M and the CM-7M (note that CM-7M is just a retail name and not its actual designation. The actual designation is OM-90) and the filters that come with them are made in the Czech Republic. The CM-2M (PDF-2D) and the KZD-6 and their filters are manufactured in Russia.
There is, as of yet, no proof that anyone other than the Czech military, Czech police, and the Turkish police use Mira products. I have emailed Mira Safety requesting photographs of anyone other than the aforementioned parties using their masks. They declined to send any.
There is no evidence that Mira Safety sells to any of the organizations that are listed on their website as users of their products. The Czechs and Turks buy from the manufacturers Gumárny Zubří and AVEC.
Mira Safety was founded in 2018.
I am not a gas mask dealer. The only time I have sold anything CBRN related, they have been antiques. This post was not made in an attempt to create a profit but instead to inform buyers.
Now that that is out of the way, I will discuss Mira Safety's masks.
    The CM-7M
The CM-7M (OM-90) is advertised as being a high-end mask for operators. Surely it must be true seeing as both the Czechs and Lithuanians use it, right? Well, after hours of searching I was unable to find any evidence the OM-90 is used by the Lithuanians. I did, however, find an article which states that the Lithuanians - as well as the Latvians - have a contract with Scott. Of course, the number of users does not mean that it is a bad mask but I think that it is important to inform a buyer of this discrepancy in Mira's advertising.
What does make the OM-90 a bad mask is its features - or more aptly, lack thereof. While the CEO of Mira Safety, Roman Zrazhevskiy, stated in a discussion with Chris' Gas Masks and Militaria that "the [OM-90] is superior to the S10 for tactical applications", the opposite is true. It is undeniable that the OM-90 is better for use with optics than the S10 due to its lenses sitting closer to the face and, yes, skullcap head harnesses are nice but one cannot say that it is better for "tactical applications" for the following reasons:
The lack of support for a voice projection unit makes it more difficult for law enforcement to be heard by civilians or for operators to hear each other.
Lack of support for radio communication devices makes it more difficult for law enforcement to communicate with each other.
Lack of support for lens outserts greatly decreases the survivability of the mask. This also means that the user is not able to install laser protective or tinted outserts.
The five point head harness is less capable of creating an air tight seal than a six point head harness. While I am sure that it still does create a seal, it is objectively true that five point head harnesses are inferior to six pointed ones.
The lack of any method to retain a chemical hood makes the mask less likely to properly interface with a chemical suit.
One simply cannot say that the OM-90 is tactically superior to the S10. Its disadvantages heavily outweigh the advantage of having close-to-the-eye lenses. Seeing as Mira sells OM-90s for $229.95, the price is much higher than what S10s normally go for.
I think that it is fair to call the OM-90 obsolete since it is lacking many of the features of modern masks.
    The CM-6M
The CM-6M is Mira Safety's panoramic option. This mask is used by - if my hours of searching have yielded accurate results - solely by the Czech and Turkish police. Of course, the CM-6M has all of the same failings as the OM-90.
The CM-6M, however, is cheaper than the OM-90 by a whole ten dollars! Of course, this is only due to a sale going on at the moment. In fact, it seems that it has been going on for much longer than just 'at the moment'. I've asked around and nobody has seen it at any other price. I doubt this is the case, but Mira Safety may be doing an illegal practice in which they claim an item is 'on sale' while only ever selling it at the sale price. This practice is used to pressure customers to purchase products without much consideration. Like I said, I doubt that this is the case and I am sure everything Mira Safety is doing is entirely legal.
Of course, just like the OM-90, the CM-6M is not suited for use in tactical situations and should be considered obsolete.
    The CM-2M
The CM-2M (PDF-2D) is Mira Safety's gas mask for children. According to Mira's advertisment, the PDF-2D "has saved thousands of lives during the Chernobyl incident" and is the only mask on the market that fits kids from 1.5 to 15 years old. Those claims are both lies.
First of all, being first made in the 1980s, the PDF-2D did not exist during the Chernobyl disaster. The PDF-2D is a member of a series of masks, earlier ones from which were present at that time and place. The second claim, that it is the only mask that fits children 1.5 to 15 years old, is also incorrect. The mask is divided into two sizes. While this does mean that the same model of mask fits children of the previously specified ages, an individual facepiece cannot. If you were to make use of that ability, you would need to purchase two facepieces resulting in a price of over $300.
There are much cheaper options for masks meant for small children. Take the Israeli M10 and M10A1, for instance. They are much cheaper and do their job just as well as the PDF-2D.
    The KZD-6
The KZD-6 is Mira Safety's protector for babies and small animals. Originally designed in the 1980s and lacking modern features, it is as obsolete as everything else Mira sells. It is also $949.95 on Mira Safety's website. On eBay, though, they can be found for $100 with free shipping. The immense price tag is just not worth it. It is especially not worth it considering that Israeli gas hoods for babies are much cheaper than even the eBay listings, take 40mm NATO filters (instead of the proprietary filters found on the KZD-6), and use a PAPR blower unit.
As for animals, I am sure it would work fine for a dog. Cats, however, certainly would not be happy with being crated around in something like that. Having had to put cats into carriers many times, I know for a fact that they are made highly uncomfortable by being put into confined spaces. I also know from experience that putting two cats inside of the same carrier will invariably lead to fighting. The stress of being in a confined space makes cats violent in my experience. Mira suggests, though, that you can hold two cats in there. Hypothetically, yes you could. In practice it would be much more difficult.
Of course, all that talk about cats is just from my personal experience.
    Filters
All of the filters sold by Mira Safety are incredibly overpriced for what they are. You should not be paying $80 for an NBC filter when much cheaper but just as effective alternatives exist.
    Conclusion
In summary, Mira Safety's products are just not worth buying. All of the masks they sell are both obsolete and grossly overpriced. I would love to hear what you think, though. I am very open to listing to your opinions whether or not they agree with mine.
TL;DR: Do not buy gas masks from Mira Safety."

Nothing is wrong with those masks if they are made in the Czech Republic. Czech has the best CBRN unit in nato, there were in Iraq for example ICAO: ORTI Taji . I agree they are overpriced . I used them when I was in SF...best protection is SCBA, yeah you can buy cheap gas masks like M10 CZ for AROUND 60 BUCK which is a copy of a US gas mask and you can use US filters with no problem. I didn't have any problems with the MIRA mask when I was in the unit . I agree there are better options on the market

I got me a Czech om90new old stock pretty much the same thing as Mira, also have the same parcil mask that you reveiwedst100x.
As far as filters go only have the ones that come standard, working on procurement of some particle filters that are 40mm ,and as far as power in black out; batteries a whole lot of batteries.
Maybe I should pick up something solar powered but I am alone and do not have anybody to be responsible for but me and the Dog,and the dog is ALWAYS STOKED....☢️☣️🧪
