The Avon S10 series included the S10, SF10, SF10IM, AR10 and N10.
The Avon FM12 series includes the FM12 and CT12 respirators.
There's also apparently a meme of me now, because I love the S10 so much.

Messaged a seller in Ukraine claiming a Soviet filter would never expire and contains no hazards. I sent a message saying selling asbestos products is frowned upon and that it's probably expired by now. If you have a way I can show you his reply, I will. This is long as is.

the s10 was still in use when i was in training back in 08/09. it was still a pain in the arse to shoot with it though. running in it was hell on earth. anyone need to train for a marathon wear one of these until game day.

My s10 came with a very rare 2 foot long extension tube for the filter. Can’t possibly see any advantage of using it but I’ve got one.

I think its supposed to be because out of all the SAS operators only smoke wears a full nbc suit, or its because Ubisoft thought that the SAS would be more recognizable wearing gas masks.

I see the new editing technique when tightening the straps at the end, like it. Also I just bought three gas masks and two abek2 filters for 19,50€ (about 17-18£ i think) on ebay. I think that's a bargain

Weaponsandstuff93 Nothing special, two M65s(the army version) and a Canadian C3. I mainly bought it because of the C3 and it was just too cheap not to buy it. You dont find C3s on the German ebay that often and I wanted one(and the filters)

Have you checked out the Swedish "Skyddsmask 90". It is like an early FM12, late S10 where production started in 1995.
I can see now that you have checked it out :D I have been collecting gasmasks since the early 1990s. I have about 50~ of them by now. But have mostly gone over to collect ammunition and firearms now.
Sadly only got the A4 civil variant but I love it.

I've done videos on top 10 scary gas masks before so I don't really want to rehash the video, and a gun probably ends up being more intimidating than a mask alone.
Is it possible to use a VPU with the fm12? And if so, where can I find one? I’m fairly new to gas masks and I’m making a cosplay for Hunk from the remake of Resident Evil 2
I think they were made for them but in very small numbers, as the FM12 and S10 are designed to use a microphone attached to the secondary voice diaphragm rather than using a VPU.
Would you say the FM12 is better than the forsheda A4? And if so how?
My right side port has a blanking plug but it seems to be the same one as the s10, is not got any valve or disk. it had voice projection thing instead, how do i get the threads?

Hey I love your videos but need your help! I just got a new old stock fm12 and an expired but still sealed niosh filter. Did the suction test and it sucks to my face really well when I cover the filters hole, but I noticed that there is an ever so minute amount of air coming in from the circular mouth price area because when I cover that there is a change in the pitch of the sound. I don’t know what it could be and need your help. Like when I purge the air from the mask it ever so slowly Inflates back.
The exhalation valve is probably worn and needs to be replaced.

Here's a few questions regarding the s10
1. I'm quite sure that I am a size 4y for the gp-5 (I have a 3y but it just barely covers my ears despite being stretched by now) so what size would I need for the s10 (I'm not too familiar with UK sizing)?
2. What are the different lens outserts and what do they do?
3. Could any version of the s10 be dual filter, and could any version use the outserts?
4. I see a lot of them on the UK eBay, but would I be limited to only the ones on the American eBay since that's where I live?
1. You'd need a Size 1 S10 by the sound of it, UK sizing is opposite of Russian, size 1 is big, size 4 is tiny etc.
2. I know of the anti-reflective lenses (Anti-flashbang) and the coloured lenses for laser designation I think.
3. The S10 is not a dual filter mask, there is a variant called the SF10 that takes two filters but is much rarer and more expensive, all versions of the 10 series can use outserts as far as I'm aware.
4. If a UK sellers offers worldwide postage at a sensible price you are able to buy those, the UK has no export law on surplus, however the US does have export laws on surplus, so as an American the laws are great, they just suck if you want to buy American surplus from other countries.

I can't really recommend anywhere for filters due to the nature of surplus stock not really being good for filters which have an expiration date.
Some hardware stores sell 40mm abek filters, get those if possible.

Were there S10 masks that were made without the drinking tube? I have what looks to be an S10 as the eyes are massive, has the nonremovable voice diaphragm but there is no drinking tube. It looks more like your CT12 around that area.
I have one of these also, I believe it's the Avon N10, a civilian version of the military S10.
Rarer than S10 maybe ?
@@davidcracknell2008 There is another version that was used by police called the AR10. From what I've read and seen, it appears to be a solid match since it too has no drinking tube and looks as if it was removed and just plugged up. I could definitely still be wrong as I'm no expert. Mine doesn't have the "scope" lenses that were mentioned and neither does the AR10, they're just flat.
This is a question about a completely separate mask I've just recently seen a listing of an ROU gas mask and I was wondering if you knew anything about it as they're are next to no decent sites explaining the mask
It's a disposable lightweight mask similar to the "facelet" masks some NATO nations made during the cold warm, the mask is made from cloth filled with activated charcoal, you literally breath through the mask like with the PH hood, once the charcoals expired they're useless, or they just get sold to Westerners for silly prices.

FM12 straps are nicer but the real thing to do if you want to use a respirator properly is cut your hair.

There isn't glass in an FM12 but if you mean the polycarbonate.Yeah there is a way of dismantling the mask for repairs as far as I'm aware, never really looked into how to do it though, but I think the lenses are taken apart and then you clip a new lens in.

The reason why your FM12 doesn't have dual filters is because they done versions to allow filters in the left port only, right port only and both ports.
Yeah it's a bit odd though, would make more sense to do all of them with blanking plugs.
It would probably be a bit cheaper for them too (I'm assuming)
