Can't imagine starting this game now. Has to be so overwhelming for new players.
I tried starting in Beyond Light, got overwhelmed since I was solo and didn't even get ammo economy explained. Then I came back right before Season of the Haunted, and the only reason I stuck with was because my dad was explaining stuff. Still invested way too much time into knowing what I'm doing for an FPS 😅
If you ever see any new player trying to get into the game it's better they turn the other direction the game is free to try but if you want the whole experience then the dlcs all together cost like $400+ dollars. It's not worth it in the slightest for a new player unless they have a big wallet
@@althechicken9597 I waited to buy WQ deluxe until Thanksgiving, when it was 30 and the collection was 20 on Epic (got 30th anniversary for free during the showcase), so I saved so much, and used a browser extension to redeem previous season rewards. Somehow I spent less than 100 on this game, but I just haven't been interested in LF enough to drop full price on it
I started with Lightfall. If I hadn't found others to play with, would have been so lost.
And to today, still learning some things I honestly wish Destiny 2 explained better.
Hell, took me like 3 weeks when I first started to grab the season Relic at the time. Since started F2p and it sounded like a "You must own Lightfall + the season pass" to get the ability to have it.
So for quite awhile was confused on how people stunned champions.

I always recommend the exotic bows early on, match the bow with ur main subclass at least then u have a solid weapon u can use from safe distance
honestly, yes. all four elemental exotic bows do an amazing job at add clear if you know how to use them right. Ticcu and Verglas take some initial learning, but can pop off, the other two are pretty much just shoot stuff and watch things explode.
@@redfinale ticuus is really good and uinderrated and newer players probably will be spending their time doing story and strikes so ticuus will kill everything with ease. Also i think other getting a exotic bow that witherhoard should be a new players best friend. Of course they have to pay for old dlc which is annoying but witherhoard is a amazing gl for all content I tell new players to also rock witierhoard with a smg or auto rifle. Funnelweb plus witherhoard was a staple combo for a while
@@JH-vb1wo The *only* issue with witherhoard is that unlocking its caty requires pvp which super sucks for new ppl and ppl that hate pvp. tbf though, ticcu's is the same way iirc

One thing to note about the Legend of Acrius: You need 240 Spoils of Conquest to buy it, and those can only be obtained from raids. So if you don't do raids, this one may be hard to get you're hands on right away.
And considering how long it would take to gather that many spoils, it's unlikely that you wouldn't have any good close range damage options by the time you have enough. Not that Acrius still isn't a good option, I'm just saying this because one of the points he made was it's good as a close range option if you don't have any other good choices.
you can always get some free raid chests solo, you can get up to like 140 spoils a week completely solo

you can get like 15 spoils a week by loading the gondola chest in the witch queen raid and opening it on all 3 characters, but that'll take a long time

The best recommendation I could suggest new players do is log on EVERY weekend and pick up Xur's quest for his token. If you've got the time, do the 20 missions(it goes by super fast if you're catching up on seasonal content or doing your pinnacles(Strikes, crucible, gambit).
Seriously, just making sure you buy one exotic from the kiosk each week will save you LOADS of headache later on when you finally do get to those GM/Raid/Master level content. Take it from someone who put it off WAY too long to get that stuff, just having access to those tools will make your endgame go that much smoother.

(Edit, hopping into a clan thats welcoming to you and willing to help new players go through Master/GMs so you get Ascendent Shards so you can actually buy the exotics also helps. Just dont sell yourself short, dont settle for a toxic or bad clan. You deserve to feel at home with your clanmates! And trust me, there are clans out there whos endgame players love to take new players through hard content! I got some new lights a bunch of golf balls in GMs during the broken gun weekend and we all had a blast!)
Every clan I've joined has constantly had inactive people
To this point - when visiting Xur
1. Buy the exotic weapon
2. Buy the exotic armor piece for your class
3. THEN but the exotic engram. He won’t give you something you’ve previously had already. So you can get at least 3 exotics per week not counting the other two armor pieces on your other two characters.
@@tanaka9730 The struggle is real man...Played solo for 2 years joined a clan that had 15-20 people on daily it died in 6 months. Joined another clan after getting a random invite in the tower. It was great we were trying Day 1 raids had loads of active peeps and 6 months later 1-2 people active.🥲

Leviathan's Breath is just as terrific if not better than Sleeper Simulant and is definitely a meta pick for all PvE activities and for Gambit as well (if anyone still plays it)
It is pretty much the strongest weapon in the game in terms of boss damage without weapon swapping or other advanced strategies. Roughly 36% higher DPS than Sleeper, though that assumes some reload stat help for both weapons so it might be a little better or worse in a more naive setup.
It's the best precision heavy weapon in the game for endgame pve
Whenever I go to help a fella with getting malfeasance, I toss that on and let the paracausal bodies hit the floor. It is so goated

Isn't Acrius a bad recommendation specifically for newer players because you have to run raids? Unless something changed and you don't need spoils anymore

I wouldn't say "bad", just doesn't represent the whole picture. Acrius is a great newer/f2p player chase weapon: gets you in the habit of raiding and it's well worth saving up. It just won't be one of the first weapons you'll get. (Fallout recommends sleeper first, which I agree with: great dps, higher body shot damage.)
Also, you have to take "new player recommendations" - when regarding the kiosk - with a grain of salt, as you still need other endgame materials like Asc Shards, the Cipher, and LOTS of glimmer to buy any of them.
@@Commander_Pika those are semi obtainable with a friend or two.. farming spoils is less so, and very time consuming
They could chest farm vow for spoils but that's going to take a while at 15 every week at most from the first chest. Could speed it up with the crota first chest and i think DSC drops spoils at the chest too
ill recommend that outbreak perfected is a GREAT PvE choice for those looking for a good emergency dps weapon if need be. sure it has fallen a bit from grace but its still a worth while pick up.
Not to mention if we do get a craftable Outbreak in the future, it could get even better.
Not as much as you think I love that gun for ease of use and the fun factor of the nanites especially with the caty and becomes stronger if you’re not the only one using it but even though it’s not a pulse rifle season it is still a solid weapon and when it becomes a pulse rifle season it will go even further beyond
I wouldn't say the gun has fallen from grace unless you are using it on hunter or titan,
since the chromatic fire buff its makes outbreak perfected deadly on arc when causing enemies to be blinded

As a destiny veteran I found this guide very helpful, I’ve finally been able to get past the tutorial and into the real gameplay(the evaverse store)!
probably worth mentioning that acrius requires spoils to buy, that's a pretty huge barrier for a lot of people, especially when the easiest solo spoil farm requires you to own witch queen.
They can be earned in vog (which i believe is a free raid) by glitching through the floor with a sparrow, but that might be a big ask for a new player.
That sparrow breach is outdated, and it only gave you access to the 2nd chest anyway. The new method is to just get a Post Templar cp from a bot and grab the first 4 chests solo, very easy.
Yeah was gonna say this. 240 spoils is no small feat for people who are new or newer to the game. It’s inclusion in the video is good, but I feel he should’ve said something about the spoils. Imagine someone watches and goes ‘oh awesome I love shotguns’ and is then disappointed they can’t get it cause they have 0 spoils and have to google what they are.

Polaris lance is an underrated F2P option but can be plenty good in PvE and PvP due to its high scorching capabilities and bottomless mag if you chain precision hits. Not the best of the best but it’s plenty good and I personally recommend it to those who want something a little more interesting

Notably for beginners, sleeper is very forgiving in that it still does respectable body damage, meaning if you're in a pinch or just not the best at landing heads, you're still perfectly fine. I love rocking this heavy for damage after i'm greened tf out
Surprised to not see Leviathan's Breath as a recommendation but otherwise really good video! Levi's catalyst drops randomly now, I believe, and although it is a PAIN to complete, the reward is incredible DPS, better than sleeper, and much easier to use

one of the best recommendations i give is sunshot, crazy good for pve and the only 150 rpm for pvp where it is also solid

I recommend picking up Outbreak Perfected, as it is good in both PVE and PVP.

as absolutely insane as it sounds, i love and will always reccommend eriana's vow. Not a popular pick at all but I think the gist of "shoot this enemy in the head and you get a damage bonus on top of crit" plus giving them anti-barrier so they'll have a champ stun option AND have the opportuinity to connect the dots between the funny symbol on the gun and the funny symbol on the enemy that is now standing in a daze is nice, plus it's very unique. And the fact that it's Catalyst gives it ALH and a bigger mag is great. I don't use it much anymore because my builds can usually take down any sort of enemy but i used it a lot when i started, and even though it's been powercrept, i think it plays it's role perfectly as a jack of all trades, master of none exotic.
How TF you going to recommend Acrius? Newbies are never going to get 240 spoils.
Hey Fallout, appreciate the New/Beginner D2 content. Always good to help them out. Especially loved you pointing out F2P options. It is tricky to figure out what is and isn't f2p (that's why I have spreadsheets XD). Would have also been good to highlight which ones are good without the catalyst, as that is an indeterminate RNG grind. Keep it up.

I highly recommend Leviathans Breath, as it is a Crossover between the presicion of a linear fusionrifle, the big AOE explosion of rocketlaunchers (without hurting yourself and the insane range of a bow without any noticeable damage falloff. It is the type of weapon that nobody talks about, although it dishes out a lot of boss damage. This weapon is my favorite kiosk exotic. Took me a long time to try any other exotic after I got it.
I've been using agers scepter recently with a controverse hold vortex ashes to assets build and I gotta say Its alternative fire mode is amazing. Hold reload, flick that button or lever or whatever, and fish out 80+% extra damage of death. You can even save some of your super energy. Sometimes you prefer to do this because your target is not worth your entire super.
On stasis with certain fragments, you can keep your alternative fire mode up for a long time if you have the enemies for it. If it makes it easier for you. you can use Battle of Mantle harmony.
Thorn is about to be my go to weapon next season!

That reload trick on QSS grenade launcher actually works for all weapons, it's just more pronounced on QSS, but manually reloading any weapon as soon as it hits 0 in the mag starts quicker than waiting for the game to do it automatically
I started Destiny 2 about 2 and a half weeks ago have a friend that's played since D1 that explained some things to me. I bought witch queen lightfall and fallen light DLC's. Quicksilver was one of the first exotics I got and I still use it now, the combination of unraveling rounds and Strand dmg with the grenade launcher is absolutely insane. On a side note being a new player, I haven't found destiny difficult at all, I've already completed a VOW raid finished lightfall and witch queen on legendary dif finish season of the wish pass already and I am just about to unlock guardian rank 8. My power level is currently 1817
Boralis for PvP hard slept on, arguably dunking adored as an option.

If you have the Shadowkeep expansion, I recommend buying Leviathan’s Breath over Sleeper Simulant as it flat out just does more DPS and total damage than Sleeper, although it requires the catalyst to be good. Levi is a great exotic now so don’t sleep on it.
not a new player, but there are a couple exotics that i dont know if i should get, so this actually helped a bit

I loved Tommy's matchbook as the first gun i Got. NOT super special but it gets the job done
let me preface by saying I'm relatively new but in my albeit limited experience riskrunner is pretty good for anything where you are fighting a moderate to severe amount of arc wielding enemies. basically, anything where your fighting fallen. and its free and one of the first exotic quests you get so there's that.
This is a good list if they want to have easy access to competitive or endgame content right away, but I’d actually argue that they’re more likely to stick around if they first try out the things that show you how fun Destiny can be. Graviton Lance, Sunshot, T-Lord, maybe Trinity Ghoul. Nothing has quite matched the excitement I had the first time I turned an entire room purple with Graviton, even before the buff 🍇

The crimson is one of the best start handcannons for D2. Decent damage and health back on kills. A newbies dream. People often forget about it but it's still awesome. Especially in the hands of a Hunter with their favorite pants. Lol 😂
i'd recommend Polaris Lance. Its fantastic for nightfalls, especially in season of the wish due to solar perks in the seasonal artifact

Hardlight is a reliable auto for high light level content and helps new plays deal with all element shields and deal with champions until they can get their hands on proper weapons

Quick Silver is soooo good I have 2! Pull one from collections and you'll have a kinetic one in edition to a strand one.

Thorn has been my end goal for my entire journey in Destiny 2. Now with its catalyst, but can get the best Thorn it can be.

Ticuu's divination is probably one of my favorite exotics to use both in pve and pvp mainly due to its hip fire tracker, since you aren't required to completely draw your bow like le mon.
Plus I'd recommend picking up foetracer or oath keepers if you are a hunter
For new players it's a good weapon, the catalyst requires lots of pvp kills. Good luck with that as a new player

Honestly I think Le Monarch should be a priority for anyone, not just PvP. As a PvE guy myself, I absolutely ADORE that bow. Obliterates overloads and can constantly prevent beefy ads from re-genning their shields. Along with the fact that it can dish out serious damage and it has awesome synergy with a lot of void builds (Looking at you jumpy bois) it is all around just an incredible weapon for PvE as well as PvP.
I would recommend Quicksilver storm for anybody just starting Destiny specially during this season new players could run a legend lost sector with this gun no problem well this and basically any machine gun
Maybe not first- but Devils Ruin can be a monster in PvP. It with a messenger pulse rifle took me to the lighthouse last weekend.

What confuses me a bit though is your seperation into f2p and paid options, cause when I look at the Kiosk they all seem to cost pretty much the same (Exotic Cipher, Ascendant Shard and 100-125k Glimmer). Was there maybe a change after your vid came out?
Given the recommendation of legend of acrius (costs spoils of conquest) this is assuming the players are capable of endgame content I would also recommend devils ruin a primary weapon that is easy to use and does decent chunk damage is great for legend lost sectors (to be completely honest anything with intrinsic champion stunning would be in my list in some cases will allow you to take advantage of the overcharged weapon of the day)
worth mentioning, although they're sunset, Not Forgotten, Recluse and Revoker are still very good PvP options for like 95% of the Crucible.
Osreo striga for sure had a neurf but its still a viable add clear weapon with the catalyst
I would second Le Monarque in Pve as well. Overload rounds on a bow that poisons over time is always great for champions.
Just found a guy on LFG that hasn’t played since curse of Osiris and was curious as to what to get from the kiosk, of course papa fallout puts out this video the very next day 🤨🤨🤣🤣
Of COURSE this comes out literally the day after I buy an exotic from the kiosk. The last video I found about this was 2 or 3 years old, and we all know how much changes in that timeframe. Thank goodness I actually got decent stuff, but this definitely will help.
PVP:
- Duality (Beyond Light I think), a pellet (hip firing) and slug (aiming down sights) shot gun in one, great stats and unique gimmick that does take time to get used to, but can be potent once mastered.
- No Time to Explain (Beyond Light), a solid pulse rifle with great stats and a great perk if you can activate it. Yes it's been nerfed a bit, but it's still good.
So I am just getting back into the game but I was surprised not to see Xenophage or Black Hammer on here. Are they not the PVE big damage option anymore?
with all my respect to you and your content, i dont think its a good idea to reccomend to a bluberry a weapon that requires 240 spoils of conquest to unlock... Aside from that, great video👍

I was a day 1 player since beta on D1. I had a group, friends who played and did everything, would carry people through all the raids so they could get the chests and everything. But I haven’t touched D2 since 2020 and I have 675 hours on it but no friends or anyone to play with. So it’s hard playing when everyone has all the new meta guns and stuff and overwhelming to have to relearn everything with these new sub classes and powers
Tbh I really regret getting last word over thorn with one of my free forsaken ciphers. Still glad I got Ace and Lumina though.

I seriously want to recommend the crafted Round Robin for PVP, play a void subclass with enhanced elemental capacitor and enhanced keep away and you have effectively over 70 range and 70 stability and using fluted barrel you workable handling and keep away gives like 40 reload speed, all on a 120 HC. It has become one of the most consistent weapons I use in PVP, usually best paired with a high handling SG in the energy slot on void titan for cheesing with overshield barricades. High stability on a 120 is sooooooo underrated, anyone interested watch DFP's vid on igneous hammer with elemental capacitor and max stability perks
I only have 3 months of experience but I’m a D1 vet. I only have forsaken dlc and got thorn, ace, and bad juju with my ciphers and have sturm with catalyst. I have been making the most out the F2P experience but what dlc do I need to get either hoard or to play trials?
Why am I not surprised that thorn is on this list, and don't get me wrong, I love thorn and I'm happy that it's in the game.
I loved thorn in D1 and was my main weapon for... everything. Sure, it takes time that you get used to it, but when you have it down, you're a literal monster in PVP
Any chance of doing a working pvp-build for a hunter (or all classes), that I could at least try the Crucible/Iron Banner? I suck at pvp, but since there are things locked behing that.

idk about first 2 weapon:
- If you use Sleeper you better use Levianthan's breath (Shadow keep DLC) with more damge and if you cant hit crit still not so big lost of total damge. Or Whisper of the Worm (free) if you can hit all headshot.
- Acrius you need 240 spoils for it and what is spoils? For ez know that is Raid "money" can only drop when you do raid encounter and only drop 5/encounter very very hard for new player to get, you rather go buy Lament (beyoung light DLC) for ez to use. Or just use adeptive sword should do the job!
I think it's strange to not recommend the salvager's salvo if you recommend some kiosk legendary weapons

As a PvP main, makes sense why you’re happy. As a PvE main, it’s a sad day that *that’s* the Thorn catalyst.
Would recommend Trinity's Ghoul as its a great ad clearing weapon in PVE, and Null Composure as a decent Fusion Rifle for PVP or PVE.
Trinity isn't a kiosk weapon it's a random drop
New players can get Monte Carlo free with the quest that explores older expansion campaigns. And its great!
Amazing starting exotic since melee attacks are really strong for Early game
In my opinion jutunn is a good weapon too for pvp startes
Witherhoard is weaksauce now (unless your hunters are using LP/Malf) , pick up any wave frame instead.
I would recommend outbreak perfected it's a good starting pulse rifle the only problem is that the catalyst is unattainable at the moment😢

ik this isnt ftp exotic or atleast i believe it isnt but u can get this super early on if u legacy edition which rn is free u can get tractor cannon which is a insane shotgun for heavy arguably best pve weapon
I think a sleeper PvP option for f2p players is Borealis. With the Catalyst unlocked it has unbelievably juiced stats for an aggressive frame sniper, along with 45 zoom. If you have the exotic slot open and you need a good sniper I seriously think Borealis is worth a shot
Id argue deathbringer is more viable for pvp. Its extremely easy to just wipe the team on the objective and its one of the most badass looking weapons in d2.
I will recommend outbreak perfected for both pvp and pve it's exotic trate gives it siva nanites were shooting targets stack damage For pvp it is a good pulse rifle with Great stats and an amazing sound but it is a 450rpm so u can't to burst and for pve it is one of the best primary damage dealing wepon
Pretty sure that also costs spoils of conquest so i dont think any new player can pick that up
Other than the catalyst being a bit of a pain to get for new players, “Trinity Ghoul” absolutely melts in all tiers of PvE content
Decent adclear option, no match for forbearance though.
Don't forget that the Mori rounds on Ace have less range currently than its regular rounds so that could mess with gameplay
As a PvE thorn enjoyer i honesty hoped the caty would give something a bit pve focused, like any poison kills give the remnant or remnants heal or something, but i guess its mostly a PvP weapon so...
