    This is so helpful! A lot of how-to handstand videos just advise you to kick your legs up as if I have that much confidence as a beginner. This is definitely a do-able progression for me!

      Exactly! That would be stage 2 if I were a complete beginner. First building the strength to even hold yourself up is a must before you go adding the challenge and fear of kicking up into the mix.

      i can kick my leg up, but i noticed that when i tried learning a handstand that way, it was hard to engage my core.
      I did it facing the wall and now my back isnt curving

      @@ngndnd I know what you mean. I think when people start with kicking up they are trying to run before they can walk. It’s best to focus on static holds to build a strong foundation and an understating of alignment and then add in a dynamic movement like kicking up after that.

      Yes I am the same. Been practicing this morning with just one leg resting on the wall and other up. So close but how do UA-cam know I'm into it?

    Omg the strength in your wrists and core!!! How easy you make it look...
    Any tips for wrists strengthening exercises for beginners? I hurt my wrists just doing this move, twice, after a good and easy yoga warm up. Office workers we have super weak wrists!!

      Stretching and mobilizing your wrists daily goes a long way. Sometimes I start with wrist CARS (slow, controlled circles) 10 times in both directions. Then, I get on my hands and knees and just rock forward onto my hands, pause for a moment, then rock back (do that a few times). Next, I (delicately) flex my wrists inwards and do the same movement a few times. Warming up and just spending time with weight on your wrists and hands (full planks, push up modifications, etc) is so helpful for wrist strengthening. Hybrid Calisthenics on UA-cam should have some helpful suggestions on wrist strengthening.

      Thanks I’m glad you found it easy. There are a lot of benefits to doing handstand, increased strength, better body awareness and mobility but I prefer to focus on the benefits people don’t see like feeling more confident and like a badass

    Wha ?!? Confused . do i put my weight on hands or feet . i keep falling on taking the 1st step on the wall. I got decent balance . body mechanics info please ?

      Hi you want to push through the hands and the feet, the hands push away from the floor and the feet push into the wall to help you stay in position.

      @@CharlieFollows yes, I tried it 10 minutes ago! But I haven't the courage to try it mit extended knees. I leant my knees to the wall not the feet. But this works!

      I can still do that easily but it doesn't really give me much body strength at all since I'm just pushin off a wall with my feet. I could never do it without a wall, I'd just fall over.

    I tried it, but i really feel a lot of pressure in my spine just below my neck, any tips for that?

      it probably has to do with your posture, try to be completely straight and not curve like a banana. a lot of people dont have the flexibility to be completely straight, so try to do neck, shoulder, and wrist stretches daily

      Hey Carrie it’s great to hear from you. If you are looking to increase your strength and mobility then I recommend any one of my classes. The creative flows may be a bit too much to begin with so I recommend any of the other vinyasa flows that I have as they are great for increasing fitness.

    Are good hand muscles necessary or it is more balancing ability?

      I would say hand placement is the most important thing. You will build strength over time but starting off with proper hand placement is key. Focus on spidering your hands so that you can press into each fingertip and control your weight from there.

    This helped so,so,SO much. Before I saw this I was putting a pillow under my hands because I was unconfident, Now I have enough confidence to try it on hard ground, Tysm!!❤
    (Update: can almost do it on the wall!!! Again, Tysm it rlly helped!)
